Argan Midnight
@Omen Do you have any news for us? I heard Gmedwin mention you was very helpful, thanks for that.
@Everyone If by chance you did not see it yet, GMEDWIN offered to GM this for us. As Omen, he's got several thousand posts in the boards, and has the pdfs already, although his gming style is different.
He asked for two things. First, to be allowed to apply the Laying to Waste and critical fumble rules (on the same post), and second, to each of us define our relationship with Cardinal Thorn (which, if I remember it well, was really defiant on our part).
Anyway, even if Omen was able to GM this book 2, considering his group is way slower than us, we would eventually face that problem again on book 3 (and probably with a much longer wait period).
So, what do you say? We need everyone's opinion on this.
Vladamir Orlovsky
Im fine with whatever.. As long as he's cool with the few house adjustments we have in place.. I have no issues running with a crit/fumble chart..
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up*
Kharn is fine with this new person. I like Omen, but I don't want to put him in the position where he once again has to choose between his group and our group. I also would be very open to trying these new houserules since I haven't seen anything like them.
Argan Midnight
Well, then this is it. Good bye old thread, Argan will come back to visit you once in a while...
@Omen Hey man, thanks for taking us this far. We really enjoyed the trip! By the way, I'm not the GM, but why don't you play our arcane caster? We will need one, and if you have the time and it doesn't spoils your fun in the other games you should take it!
DM Omen
I'm glad I could carry the torch to a good resting point, and I had a blast running this very fun and challenging campaign. Hmm, I wouldn't be opposed to jumping in if everybody else was ok with it. This AP can be very rewarding for a full caster I have discovered, and I am very good at keeping my player and character knowledge separate.
Vladamir Orlovsky
Yea that was a typo.. Lol..
I would suggest u look into the Arcanist.. Argan is running one in my mummy campaign and they seem more powerful than either wizard or sorc.. Deff more than a sorc..
DM Omen
I have began dabbling in the arcanist (arcane casting is my favorite and best role) but haven't gotten to fully understand their power yet. So far I'm surprisingly not crazy about them. My current feeling is that they're a sorcerer who gets less spells per day but more spell choices. If we know ahead of time that the next day I need to throw four fireballs, great, arcanist is the prime choice. But if we're unprepared or need a number of different spells than they're not the best.
My thoughts so far anyways, I also know that I haven't had much beyond a few encounters with them. I'm also leaning towards wizard because they're more undead friendly than arcanists.
Argan Midnight
GMEDWIN said he's ok with it, so hurry up, make something and join us in there!
And yes, Calla is very powerful, but she's mythic, so yeah, she would be fairly limited if I would use Wild Arcana...
Argan Midnight
The freaking evil party has been gathered! Let's go!
Vladamir Orlovsky
Rawr.. Im fairly pleased to see that we'll have a divine caster that can actually heal me..
Also, we're gonna have to make a new thread.. I assume the new GM will be doing that though.
Argan Midnight
Your call folks. I've already requested a GM change on this one, so it only depends on what you want.
Vladamir Orlovsky
Ok well that works then.. This one needs to be reactivated then show itll show up in campaing tab..
BTW you should call yourself a Red Matiss Assassin, not a Crimson Assassin.. It just sounds tougher.
Argan Midnight
Since we are following Asmodeus, it should be something like the Black and Red Assassin, or Dark Prince Assassin or anything like that. Calling Argan God would also do the trick ^_^
GM Jammin'
Alright. Here I am.
I am and have been skimming through the previous gameplay thread, but there is a lot. So to make sure important things don't get missed I have some questions for each of you.
•Are there any special relationships with NPC's--good or bad--you've developed in the previous book?
•What are some goals your character has? Are there any she/he's already fulfilled?
•Are there any special events that you feel defined your character in the last book? If so I would appreciate it if you could link to it. If you cannot--or don't wish to--link to it, a description will work well enough.
•Anything else you don't want me to miss?
Like I said, I am skimming over the previous gameplay thread, so this is mainly for those things you feel are important. No need to retell every detail from before (unlees you want to). And we should be able to get this going soon.

Group relationships:
Argan Relationships
He does not have any special ones, aside from the party. He doesn't mind about the other knots and, if he does not judge them fairly inferior, he will prove that they are under the ninth knot.
Argan also wants to put Talingarde down, bringing back the "survival of the fittest" rule back into the country, since he's the fittest one. He does not mind about god's wishes on that matter, but if they serve his purpose, well then let's do it. He had become richer than he was before being sentenced to death, and that is making the rogue pretty satisfied with their incursion, to the point of avoid complaining about it.
The rogue likes to confuse his enemies, and putting society into chaos often serves that purpose. The whole last chapter serves well as a definition of his style, where he used all of his abilities to help put the castle down, although in the end the party wanted to get it done quickly and spoiled his perfect plan to kill everyone in that freaking watch wall. Anyway, Deception is his main style, and he has used the circlet to create several consistent disguises, each one with a designed purpose.
Vladamir Orlovsky
I will agree on Argan's list of group relationships with only a few comments..
I kinda liked Grumblejack and was a little sad when we let him go never to see him again. That said a return of the npc wouldn't hurt Vlad feelings.
Vlad has made several sexual passes at Tiadora, but so far hasn't been entertained. This has garnered "giggles" from some of the other pc's but he cares not.
Personality wise Vlad grew up a noble and thus treats most as if their beneath him, npc's at least. He has sharp wit and an ever sharper tongue and thus has become accustomed to decieving normal folk rather easily. He often feeds on females regardless of the fact that he doesn't actually have to at this point.
Goal wise he was promised his faimlies holdings in Ghastenhall when the time came and would be allowed to seperate his father's head from his shoulders at that point in time. That is his main motivation for all this.
Religion wise Vlad gives homeage to Asmodeus, but also has strong ties to Zura..
So far I think his defining moments have been defeating the paladin and the end scene of the castle fight, which was finely choreographed by Omen/Lil. You should deff read through that part..
Lastly he will make Argan his puppet at some point, just because he can and because the little bastard deserves it for his insolence.. lol..
Seth la Kor
Hello! Marko here. Seth is currently a work in progress mechanically, largely formatting and adding the details since I already know most of the details. I plan to spend my time at work today fleshing out his character more.
Hp: 5d8 ⇒ (2, 5, 7, 8, 6) = 28
Speaking of, there's Seth's health! Not bad. Also, I rolled his stats in the same thread that Omen did, as I didn't realize you guys would be going back to this one!
I do have a questions for you guys, since you seem so finely tuned a group. Omen knew that group well when he made Lil, but I won't know the group until I read the game over the next week and even then I won't know it perfectly. Mechanically Seth's abilities will mostly be focused on...
-Debuff Spells (Between Prayer, Bane, Visions of Hell, and Channel Evil Seth has options end up giving a -6 to attack most non-evil enemies, though a -4 will be more typical since getting the -6 would take several rounds and half of his third level spell slots XD)
-Battlefield control Spells (One of my favorite spell is Chains of Perdition. There's nothing more satisfying then tripping an enemy to serve him up on a platter to the party melee every turn.)
-Critical Healing in battle (Between Seth's Imp and Seth's wand of reach, healing you guys with Cure Spells right when you need it should be easier rather then harder, but hopefully you won't ever get that far down! XD That said, every turn won't be 'putting a band aid on you', as I'm of the mind of preventative measures when possible... though you shouldn't worry too much about no healing, as mechanically the character has a lot of focus on making his Channel Evil pretty powerful.)
My questions are...
-Any comments or thoughts on what I intend to focus on?
-At the moment I intend to take the Evil (Devil Subdomain I'm required to take) and Trickery Domains, but does anyone have a good suggestion and case for another domain?
I realize that's a lot of mechanical talk and little story talk, but don't worry I'm working on Seth's story in my head, and should have some more on that tonight or tomorrow.

Build looks pretty solid to start, with that many channels i would consider quickened channel though.. Domain wise Trickery is a no brainer imo.. Fire is ok but quickly looses potency, although being on the evil team theres not as many good guys immune to fire..
3rd level spell wise it will always be a ok with us and prob Lil to help us pad our undead population with animates. Clerics actually get it a level early so.. Bestow Curse is never a bad thing.. Invis Purge and Com Resist Energy are nice spells to have in your back pocket. A scroll of nap stack has made thing easy in the past..
As for 2nds I like Sound Burst on casters, Grace for movement, Hold Person is an auto death if they fail. I dont think anyone would complain about a +4 stat bump either..
1st level Murderous Command is your bread and butter imo.. Make that greatsword fighter full attack with power attack his wizard buddy? I think so..
You seem to have a good handle on your spells and these are all just suggestions that im sure you already knew about.. Speaking of, Suggestion is a really goo spell lol..
My only gear questions would be why not a wisdom headband? +1 dcs, bonus 1st level spell and +1 will sounds alot better that 1 extra channel and +1 channel dc..
Argan Midnight
Well, what he said.
Me, Kharn and Vlad are heavy melee hitters, and Lil is a support/legion commander, so anything would be nice, but healing would be extra awesome, in my opinion. I haven't checked all domains granted by Asmodeus but I like the Slavery one.
BTW I got this Awesome picture of my minion Vlad, just so you know how he really looks like. ^_^
Last but not least, we're using the 2 extra skill points a level rule, Marko.
Seth la Kor
Actually, I knew about next to none of those spells! Animate and Bestow curse were honestly the only ones and the rest were 'what the heck are those?' XD Thanks for the suggestions! I have definitely considered quickened channel, but the downside to a cleric is that there is not a wealth of feats! Edit: I decided to switch out ability focus for quick channel. Its DC is already pretty darn good at 22. I have to look at the rest of your suggestions. I might end up picking a couple to add to my favorites list. I did know about suggestion though and I do love it.
As far as Animate dead goes, I actually plan on leaving that to Lil. Its powerful, but it's her shtick. In fact, Seth is going to eventually offer to make some Desecrate scrolls with her (I think she can make the scroll while he casts the spell, right?) and he'll keep them on hand for when she has some powerful undead to raise.
Domain wise, I actually can't touch Slavery. As much as I want to I'm required to take Devil as my subdomain for that domain choice. My only choice in that regard is the domain I take it from (Law or Evil). The other domain is completely open to choice though, thankfully, and trickery does very much suit the concept that I had form in my mind at work today!
With the headband, my initial item of choice was a +2 Headband of Mental Prowess (Wis/Cha). Once Seth meets up with Lil, I'm hopefully going to be trading in my headband of charisma for it. I might still change that though... For now Channel seemed more plentiful, but perhaps a higher wisdom would be better!
Hopefully I won't need many magic items. Toss Seth a metamagic rod here or a wand there, and definitely a Phylactery of Channeling on something other then a headband (they can be made into necklaces right?), and he should be good.
Also, I did not know that Argan! That makes things decidedly more... interesting...
Vladamir Orlovsky
Spellcasters can indeed share spells in helping one another create magic items, so I wouldn't see that as a problem. It is also legal to combine magical items you just have multiple the price of the lower cost item by 1.5 and then add it to the price of the higher item..
For your Headband/Phylactery example:
Phylactery cost 11k
Heaband wis/cha cost 10k
10x1.5 = 15k + 11K = 26K for Phylactery of Neg Channel and +2 Wis/Cha..
Argan Midnight
Actually, the multiplied price is always the higher cost, Vlad.
GM Jammin'
Actually, the multiplied price is always the higher cost, Vlad.
It is the lower price that's multiplied. You can see it here under the special section of the table.
Thank you Vlad and Argan for the updates. I really enjoyed reading through the negotiation of the congract. Kharn, is there anything that you would like to make sure I don't miss? I see that Lil joined after book 1. So I can work with just the background and gameplay of Seth and her.
Argan Midnight
Very funny, Fonzie!
I see it now, but the example they give at the end of that page is not on that model:
If the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character's body, the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. For example, if a character adds the power to confer invisibility to her ring of protection +2, the cost of adding this ability is the same as for creating a ring of invisibility multiplied by 1.5.
GM Jammin'
Ah. I think that one is for adding an ability after it has already been crafted. When you add another ability, you can't modify the cost of the first since you've already paid it, so the second ability always costs 50% extra. However, if it's crafted all at once, the lesser ability is the one that costs extra.
Lilpinny Marfedelom
~Concerning NPC relationships~
Assuming we are going back to the beginning of town, Lilpinny (or Lil for short) has not been introduced yet. We have not established a background with Thorn, but between her CE alignment and low wisdom score I assume he keeps her in check by manipulation and controlling her somehow.
~Seth~
I think those are fantastic domain choices.
I like the idea of a joined background with Seth, we'll have to work on that.
~General~
Sweet it's up, very fast!
Also, should I adjust Lil to level 6 WBL or keep her as is?
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up*
Unfortunately, it falls to Kharn to remind his lesser fighters about the important NPC relationships.
Sir Reginold of the Third of the Hasbrouck Family and Fourth in line to the Sun Throne, and heir to the Silver Dutch is with us. He is also an owl.
As for goals Kharn hasn't really found any yet except for care for Sir Reginold.
In the last book Kharn killed the archon and he really doesn't like them now.
Argan Midnight
I knew I was forgetting someone!
Same thing here, everyone I ever related with is dead or far far away!
Vladamir Orlovsky
As far as our loot goes im the only one thats at WBL for 6th, looks like Argan is off quite a bit and Kharn has like 10k gold that he's hoarding for some reason..
Argan Midnight
We all gained the same amount, 10491, which is the same as WBL for 5th level, but we spent on potions and other stuff.
Argan Midnight
When you get a decent build?
Argan Midnight
I don't need to fight you, I COMMAND you my MINION!!! MUA HA HA HA HA!
Argan Midnight
Hmmm... I've heard that before... Oh yes! It was in our first level!
Seth la Kor
Now, now guys. I think once we start facing enemies where you'll need very specific, very divine protection, we'll all know whose really in charge.
Joking aside, the GM asked for a week to get things going, so Tuesdays probably a good time to be ready for this game to get going again. (Not speaking for the GM, just pointing out what he mentioned earlier). I'm using the time to catch up on your gameplay thread so I don't mind too much.
Vladamir Orlovsky
You can literally try to control me.. Intelligent Undead get a save, and when i pass it i can literally drain all of your blood and make you a vampire minion.. How's about that?
Argan Midnight
Have I mentioned Buffy before?
