In regards to the current encounter:

I went with the standard marching order but more or less moved you all in to search. You all got passive perception checks which meant that Kaz and Vala could react.

But, I am aware that I moved you in and it triggered a combat in which some of you got hurt straight away. Zed has already said he is trying to actively scan with Detect Undead but is there any other standard operating procedure you want to enact so I can keep things moving but not screw you over?

Solely on my end of things, I don't think Hazel has anything in particular that she could contribute to the general scanning process beyond what Zed is already doing.

Likewise, I don't really have much in the way of always-on senses.

Ok cool, just thought I'd check :)

Oh man, it appears we have a benevolent, intelligent undead in our midst. Zed is going to really struggle coming to terms with this.

This should be a nice exercise in roleplaying then :)

Be good to see how you react to Vesoriana, Zed and whether you discuss your feelings with your team-mates.

Also feel free to react or object to Hazel volunteering everyone without further discussion :3

Guys just as a heads up, I'll be going skiing for five days from Thursday of next week and I expect my posting to be extremely limited.

We'll see how things go in the next couple of rooms but that might be an opportune moment to return to town and rest.

Sounds good to me; would be a good opportunity for some inter-party RP or just for folks to take a little break for a bit until you return. Also, hope you have a good time!

I try to write interesting NPCs, even those who can't talk!

We had snow, but it finally started melting yesterday and is largely gone now - huzzah!

I'll second the writing on Old River, well done! And that's coming from someone that's a cat person through and through :P

Also the Hunter class is a lot of fun but I like Vala and would miss having her around. It's not often that people play older PCs and it adds an interesting take on things :)

Yeah I'm sorry if it felt that way.

But I do have a confession which I think either you will appreciate or will p*ss you all off.

My intention has always been to heighten drama during this game and so I've had this scene in my head since before we started.

So... I've been playing Galus since the beginning, even recruitment - purely because I wanted to start the game with a bang (the death at the funeral) and then follow that thread to this conclusion - with the ultimate intention of making these spirits seem like worthwhile, horrific villains of the book.

Now you could definitely (and legitimately) see this as the worst type of rail-roading. But hopefully you'll see that the whole load of shenanigans was to build drama and make this game stand out as different.

<Fingers crossed you don't all quit because of this bait-and-switch> :/

I'm actually pretty impressed. I can say without hesitation that you are the most passionate DM I have ever played with on the boards. So much attention to detail and care for the story. Keep up the good work!
