Is Old River actually part of the AP or did you include him for my sake? Because if it's the former, that's very uncanny.

Enjoy your trip Vala!
My brain stalled out tonight/this morning so I'll respond to Kazamir's post in Gameplay later today after I've had some sleep. Even though I know weekend posting tends to be slower (and may be very slow with it being a holiday weekend here in the States), people don't need to worry about waiting for Hazel's response if they wanna get in on the conversation; I can catch up later if need be :)

Either there was some graverobbing, Petros really was a necromancing bastard, or somebody needs to be fired from making the graveyard a holy ground.

Zed Ulmin |

Possibly. Or we're all in phantom world and none of this is real. Or it's just a memory that's been implanted in our heads.
The problem with magic is that the possibilities are endless and don't have to make sense :P
But the illusion idea actually is pretty good. Let's check it once we've re-killed it.

Question for you psychic folk!
I'm not as up on the psychic casting rules as I need to be and will be rectifying that shortly, but does casting a psychic spell in a threatened area need to be done defensively to avoid provoking an attack of opportunity since there are no traditional components? Does arcane spell failure apply as well?

Constantin Ionescu |

Based on the descriptions on p. 144, I believe that psychic magic does provoke (and if the spell has a thought component, the DC to cast defensively is increased by 10 unless you spend a move action to center) and it does not have arcane spell failure (because it's not arcane). (I specifically took light armor proficiency under the presumption that there is no arcane spell failure chance.)

Zed Ulmin |

Sorry if my post wasn't clear enough, but my intention was to cast the spell and then move. It's a ranged touch so I didn't see the need to close the gap before using it.

Zed Ulmin |

Oh please do identify that Zed just healed himself with negative energy. I'm sure that will be a fun conversation topic!

Hey folks,
I'm going to be traveling on vacation from this Wednesday through 10-Oct. I'll try to check in and toss in some small posts but it may not be realistically possible. Feel free to 'bot or sideline my character as seems appropriate. Thanks!

Well if any of the home nations (England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales) reach the Rugby World Cup quarter finals, the place should be rocking but especially if it's Ireland or the Scots.
You missed Wales though! Which, biased as I am, is the best of the Celtic nations :)
Edinburgh is a lovely city though. Castle is amazing, as is the Old Town, the super creepy dungeons under the city. Great restaurants and bars in particular Usquabae Whisky Bar - if you like whiskey or even have an interest in whiskey or saw some whiskey one time (lol) you should go there. Over 400 hundred varieties and amazing food too.

Rajuna Two-Fangs |

No slight on Wales intended... despite the drubbing Swansea gave MU a few weeks ago. :D Wales is on our short-list of places to visit but it sadly won't be this year. But we make it to the UK a lot so don't be surprised if it's on the itinerary in the next year or two. And 'best Celtic nation' is a bold statement that I'd like to verify by personal experience. :)
Usquabae Whisky Bar, you say? We absolutely take recommendations and we do like whiskeys and cocktails featuring whiskey... so you will likely be getting a drunk post from me from the aforementioned establishment. Cheers!
Seriously, we'll work Usquabae into our plans and I do appreciate the heads-up. My wife used to live in the UK some years ago and has been to Edinburgh a few times... but more recent info is always appreciated.

Rajuna Two-Fangs |

Actually, my wife is an American so 'ex-pat' is what she was when living in London. :) True story, she got harassed by the US border guards when she came home with such brilliant questions as "Why would you live in the UK when you are an American citizen?" and "Did you commit a crime? Is that why you left?" because clearly no one would willingly leave the US unless they were escaping prosecution. [insert eye roll]
Thanks for asking about currency; it's a good question and one that many people overlook. Yeah, we have both euros and pounds since we'll be switching currency two or three times as we pass between the 'Irelands'.

Haha cool. I had a hard time in America in may flying from San Francisco to Vegas. Taken to a room, questions blah blah blah. No idea why but just thankful the rubber glove didn't come out lol.
If you are in Belfast, the Europa Hotel is interesting. It's where presidents and prime ministers usually stay and also happens to be the most bombed hotel in the world at the height of the IRA in the 70s and 80s. Thankfully all of that has kind of come to an end now although tensions are still reasonably high and don't be surprised if you see lost of army guardposts and so on and on a serious note, not that I imagine you would, but avoid wearing anything with the union jack on it.

Rajuna Two-Fangs |

We will be in Belfast for a bit. Ohhh, most bombed hotel? I'll put the Europa on the list. That's one of those odd records that we like to collect. We're actually going to the 'most remote pub' in the UK on this trip. You can only get to the spit of land it is on via a 75 mile hike or taking a ferry out of... gah... somewhere in western Scotland.
Well, shoot, I guess my Union Jack Doc Marten boots are out, eh? :D No worries, we always travel as incognito as possible and avoid wearing anything that smacks of political leaning or pinpoints us as Americans. We've traveled through a number of countries that aren't exactly friendly with Amurrica so we know the drill. Not that the UK or Ireland are hostile territory but we've got no desire to catch stray bullets because we 'look' like x, y, or z.

Field trip sounds good to me, hehe! If anyone is wondering where Rajuna went (like I was), a check of some other aliases shows that he's on a vacation/trip/excursion until the 10th. This is your warning: if you go quiet, I will stalk your profile for further information - because I love you that much ;)

Rajuna Two-Fangs |

I'm still here... more in reading mode than posting mode. It seems I'm checking in at hours when Raj making an appearance would distract from the interesting exchanges. But I am liking all the stuff I'm not contributing to! :)
FWIW, JZ, I did make it to the Europa. I can recommend "The Crown" pub, just across the street from Europa. Possibly the best looking pub I've ever seen.
Now, we're unwinding in Dublin.

Hello everybody. Sorry to barge in on your discussion thread, but I am a friend of Zed and am here posting on his behalf. He will be unable to post at all until Friday. Rest assure that everything is fine and his posting will be completely back to normal on Friday. Please DMPC him as necessary. Thank you.

Sticking with the Divination school, I think that know the enemy and heightened awareness both seem like suitable swaps for identify. Either one sound more appropriate to you, JZ?
