Mort, if you need a break, don't hesitate to ask. It's been my experience that nothing kills games quicker than GM burnout.
There was once you complained about the game being slow. It made me sad.
I generally won't bot more a single person at one go(since you're now all on American timezone), but atm since I'm busy at work, so no botting.

GM Mort |

Benefit(s): You can alter any spell that targets a single creature to become an authoritative spell. When you cast an authoritative spell, choose one of the following activities to prohibit: move closer to you, move away from you, make a melee weapon attack, make a ranged weapon attack, cast an offensive spell, or cast a non-offensive spell.
You must be specific on what you want to select for authoritative spell, Hedran.

GM Mort |

K. Tomorrow I'll start my debut on running 5 km then resting for an hour in between, then running 2.4km. Suffice to say I'll be busy.

Some food for thought

"Gorgeous" curious is that one of those words that means something different depending on where the English is spoke, like 'boot' or 'trunk'

Well, what I meant was that that daily session had no posts in about three hours. And I was getting tired, because I had to go to work the following day. I wasn't complaining about the overall pace of the game. I'm sorry if I gave that impression.

GM Mort |

Confessions, I didn't really run 2.4km after that. Well, I was prepared to, but my BF ran out of steam after 600m >< We pretty much walked the rest of the distance.

I am busier these days then I used to be due to the number of hours I have been putting into exercise to lose weight. And for each player to post, well some people's posts are like one-liners etc. I have to control multiple enemies, bot 2 friendly NPCs, so believe me it isn't as easy as it looks with all those multiple rolls, especially some of it has to be done on phone.
I'm all for telling you as much backstory as possible but when the party does not really seem to be interested in talking to NPCs then I am unable to do so. And when you go through APs, you likely only get a chance to go through it once. It also makes me feel discouraged that when I try to RP the NPCs, I don't get much of a response.
Also tomorrow I'm going out with family so probably slow posting in the morning.

"Hedran" |

I want to work towards more interaction with the NPCs but I as a player don't have a history with them. I know Hedran does but it's hard to catch up on that. Especially, when we have been treking through the woods so the day to day would mostly routine.

Grenwold Houtvester |

I am trying to, Mort. I know you’re very proactive about it, so I’m sorry if I’m not able to keep up with the RP.

"Hedran" |

I am also working under the assumption that we are also pretty elite Malitia in hostile territory at this point so we are being quite as we travel, keeping the fire low, and talking we needed as to not draw attention how we are behaving. Talking formations, resources, contigencies are all rp that is directly relevant to the situation. People build bonds by achieving things together. For a group of warriors thfighting and the success is rp and would change the bonds of the group spoken or unspoken. Hedran has been healed and had is life saved similarly has saved lives, that changes bonds.

GM Mort |

You're not assumed to be stealthing, since the amount of people in mediun armor would draw enough attention from clanking, whether you were even talking or not. I do not impose penalties on people choosing to RP. Have enough stealth, it comes out in a whisper and no one except the people you're talking to hears you anyway. Insufficient stealth and you clank so much that whether you talk or not it makes no difference.

Grenwold Houtvester |

Would ya'll like some bad rolls. I have them, piping hot.
My third natural 1 of the combat. Wahhh!

"Hedran" |

I'm not saying stealthing. I'm saying common sense movement through the bush. That is why it is RP and mechanically stealthing.

GM Mort |

Read some David Eddings, Mercedes Lackey, Tamora Pierce and other books. The protagonists may be sneaking somewhere, but it does NOT mean that the entire part while they're sneaking in enemy territory is done entirely without conversation. They see atrocities, they comment on them. They do not just speak amongst themselves just on tactical matters. The books would be much poorer if the protagonists did not speak among themselves.
Or look at LOTR movie. Do Frodo and Samwise sneak into Mordor without saying a single word? No, Frodo spends most of the time complaining about the burden of the one ring(sure, he's warranted that).
Please do not give me excuses that because we're in enemy territory so we cannot speak. It does not fly. I'm telling you that whether you talk or not it does not make a difference to whether you get spotted. Since you make enough noise without talking as it is(Nigel).
If you really wanted to try stealthing, all travelling times would be doubled as you'd have to move at half speed, which I haven't been doing.
Most APs also you spend a lot of times in dungeons. So that means you say you don't need to speak (except for tactical matters) throughout the entire AP? That's rubbish.

Ratel Dier |

yeah, no excuses here, I was planning on Ratel being a bit of a loner, but he would have talked more if I was on my old schedule.
Speaking of schedule, I will be out of town tomorrow and part of Tuesday, so I probably will not be able to post tomorrow. If Ratel or Bear needs boted we will have Ratel drink the mutagen and use these numbers,
[ooc] str 25, AC 23 Full attack BF, unarmed , + 1 shield Power attack[ooc]

GM Mort |

At the end of the day, if you choose not to RP, that is also your choice (and I won't bother too much). I will say the lack of action will have consequences, I.e you don't get to have NPCs helping the party out. Which is also fine by me. But just don't try to claim the benefits you have not paid for, so to speak.

Grenwold Houtvester |

Keep up the good work.
FYI I think we never actually resolved what we were going to do with flood management, and since people are deferring to me, we can just go with our red plan. Should work in the case of al but like a 100 year storm (1/100chance of happening per year).

GM Mort |

Grandlounge sent me a PM to ask me to remove him from game. I will bot that he will leave after this combat.

GM Mort |

I won't bother. It's not as if you don't have 4 players and an NPC. Should be enough to finish the AP with. I really don't like adding new people in the middle of APs.

GM Mort |

Besides, I've still got this experiment to try out:
What's an AP going to be like without arcane casters? =)
Don't mind me, I have a streak of mad scientist in me.

Grenwold Houtvester |

Thanks, you too. :)

Grandlounge sent me a PM to ask me to remove him from game. I will bot that he will leave after this combat.
Crap, now I really feel like a turd.
This is my post in the other eleven games I'm in:
I began playing pathfinder four and a half years ago here on-line. It has been a wonderful time but I believe that journey has ran its course and come to an end. I am in a dozen games and I feel that those I have been playing with deserve an explanation for my decision to leave the games at this time.
When I started playing I was working nights; alone, bored and able to post for several hours a day. Posting at work was the perfect opportunity to be involved with others and create together. I was able to check the games regularly from home as well, due to fewer responsibilities at that time.
In October I left that job and have started working at a call center where I am talking to people all day long. Not only has my ‘posting time’ been cut to almost nothing. But the time I spend communicating with others has increased exponentially. Also, my RL responsibilities have increased significantly. Both mine and my wife’s mothers have been diagnosed with dementia and we spend a couple hours a day caring for them.
My posts have become shallow, my characters one dimensional. I am not happy with how I am playing, nor with what I am getting accomplished in RL with what little ‘down time’ I have. I appreciate the stories we have shared together. I know the games will continue, I will read along when I can. I wish everyone good luck and a good year.
So now, with "Hedron" quiting for the second time I feel terrible quiting as well. But, when it's said and done, I'm still going to do it.
Luke, it has been a true pleasure, you've forgotten more about building characters than I know. I have really enjoyed playing with you and I will read along as I can.
Mort, thank you for the invitation to play, It meant so much to me on a personal level. I apologise profusley for bailing on you. Especially now that you may have to recruit. I will PM you.

GM Mort |

Np, RL + Family > games. I am sorry to hear about your respective mothers, LMs grandmother had problems recognising her =( Good luck with your future endeavors.
I could go recruiting (probably 1 more) or I could just write an ending to it that you manage to clear out Fort Trevelay of the Ironfang, secure the Fangwood and end the AP.
*Shrugs*
Either way is fine by me.

GM Mort |

I don't think there will be anymore APs coming from me - pathfinder is being replaced by PF2 and I have no interest in PF2 at all. I have not bought any new APs during the 10% offer which is when I usually buy my pathfinder stuff.

Grenwold Houtvester |

I'll keep trying to put out decent RP/combat stuff as long as you run, Mort! It's a lot of fun for me and I appreciate your dedication.
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble Robert, I know how that is.

![]() |

Sorry! The posts in the discussion thread were not showing up as 'new', so I hadn't looked there; I had just been waiting for Ratel to post in the Gameplay thread :-/
Ratel, for what it is worth, I am sorry to see you go, but I understand why you need to; best of luck with the future.
@GM Mort: I would love to keep going :-)
At present, we have Ranger (with animal companion) / Inquisitor / Alchemist, and an NPC Cleric (with animal companion) as our core remaining party, with Cirieo as a temporary addition; we will probably be fine (although I am doubly glad that I stopped 'gimping' myself; we will all definitely need to pull our weight now).
That said, I will definitely be giving further thought to the 'Awakened' wolf Cohort that I had been toying with...

GM Mort |

Leadership feat or it didn’t happen, even so you are limited by leadership feat of the usual -2 of your character level, and the wolf in question has to count its HD(including awaken +2 HD bonus) as part of character level.
I thought about it, I won’t be doing any recruiting on this AP. I don’t feel like dealing with people – I don’t see any good that will come out of recruiting. if you care to look, the whole rant is on FAWTL. If anyone else leaves then that’s the end of it.

Grenwold Houtvester |

PBPs and RPGs in general are tough to play because it's hard to empathize with other people and get in their heads. Harder still to make that empathy translate into action. So I try to do it for other people when I can remember.
In other news/request. Can we charge adjacent to yellow and attack? It looks like a straight line to me and we have more than enough movement. I don't want to goof and make a mistake.

GM Mort |

You're standing near the remains of a trebuchet so nope, it counts as DT.
I express myself better then in RL since in RL I speak kinda fast so the last time I tried the high pitched gnome voice, no one on the table understood what I was saying. Which might be amusing in an RP sense but not when you're trying to get the message across.
And honestly in a PBP - there is more time then at a table.

Grenwold Houtvester |

I haven’t figured out how to move my marker in the google doc while on mobile. Is there a way to do it? Every time I try to select it on the page it just goes to the next page.

GM Mort |

I can move your mini but getting it to the right size is a problem. Tried Google slides yet?

GM Mort |

Option 1) is taken for Misthome flood control with pipes being dug at K8 and K3, then.
