Where the machine hit Basil, the wounds glow with an eerie blue light bright as a torch as tissue knits itself back together. Basil readies to fire once more, but waits to see if Gauntlets most recent strike managed to shut the robot down.
Holding for now, but repair nanites kick in for 6 healing, so 4 damage remain.

Gauntlet's strike hits true and the machine stops wirring and sputters. Falling to the ground.
As you all look around the room you notice a variety of monitors flashing strange words.

Basil is able to understand the writing natively: "Maybe their cores are in their boots, or what passes for boots among them?"
She looks at the downed Robots, inspecting their lower parts: "We should see what happens if we affirm the question. Their purpose must have been something else, they were not created for combat. But they seemed operational enough to out rule a malfunction causing hostile behavior. My theory would be that there was either a complex-wide order to attack intruders for all machines, or a madness spread among them like illness. Getting a machine re-cored with a new, untainted boot from storage could possibly shed some light on what happened here."
She proceeds to look for a yes-button while talking to the monitor:<Androffan>"Affirmative. Commence Re-Booting. Replace Core."</Androffan>

You are not 100% sure what happened.. But, the two destroyed robots in the room, have stopped making any noise. Lights there still blinked softly in portions of their destroyed armor have turned off. You suspect that they are shut down, beyond just destroyed by you.

"Great!. It sounds like another possible robot to me. Everyone ready? I will open the door Basil, so go ahead and take a shot if something looks hostile again. OK?"

Metal desks with flashing lights sit to the east, while a second rotating belt of leather moves through on opening in the east wall Two dead orcs lie at the base of this second belt.
Standing in the center of the room is a large bulky human looking machine. Armored carrying a small rod with a white glowing tip. It turns to the group and says:

Think of it as a organic suit of Temporary hitpoints that overrides my Physical stats ONLY. Its Keldor's mind...Gauntlet currently has none in this state. Once I hit 17th or 20th level I can split off a version that moves and attacks on his own...THEN he will have sentience. I would get some part of his fort saves bonuses per his Con here, but that's about it. PLEASE NOTE: As an Inevitable type, Gauntlet (and I) get a +4 bonus on saving throws against death effects, disease, necromancy
effects, paralysis, poison, sleep, and stun. Is this a stun or paralysis effect? Sounds like a stun rod to me... No matter what I do, I can absorb no more than 6 more points of damage, so Gauntlet gets dismissed either way after the blow hits.
With a flash of electric light, Gauntlet's form seems to emit bountiful amounts of steam and begins to fade suddenly as Keldor drops to his feet...

Instead, she opts to help Dirissa by trying to grab on to the creatures limb.
Aid Another(Dirissa): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
I feel useless here - @grease: not theoretically problematic, my acrobatics is great, but I think I can't 5-foot step into it. It does not specifically state the area is difficult terrain, but since the movement is at half speed, it would take 10 feet of movement to move 5 feet, which is more than a 5-foot-step allows...it always seemed to make the most sense. If GM interpretation is different, I'd gladly step into a flank, too.
Keldor Whisthawk |
My understanding of 5 foot move is that you can always take a 5 foot move unless something specifically prevents it, regardless of terrain, as its just 5 feet. You just have to accept whatever happens (reflex save) in that terrain once you enter it.
