Zeke withdrew as a full-round action, to get back behind everyone else.

Does Zeke still get back his spells when he is fatigued by night terrors? If not, I'll say that he used his pearl of power to get back color spray before he charged in.

Charles, it doesn't look like you applied the 18 points of healing Zeke did with his channels and wand. Aren't you at full strength?

I am not going to take away your spell preparations at this early stage of insanity.

Garfaulk rushed further into the room next to Wulf as the larger man smashed his way through the rats, though looking out the door, he saw, of course, more coming. "Goblin fleas..." he curses as he aims Slagbreather at the doorway, waiting for the swarm to come in before pulling the trigger

Readied Slagbreather: 1d20 + 3 + 3 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 3 + 1 - 2 = 14
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Not entirely sure how that works vs swarms, but i figured as a shotgun, it didnt hurt to try, right?

Shotguns are a little strange, because it is kinda an AOE but you still aim at every target in the area. But it is bludgeoning damage, which does normal damage against swarms of tiny creatures, so we will go with that.

A rat swarm runs forward into the throne room to bite and grab onto Garfaulk, and he gets a shotgun blast off that hurts many of them. Wulf strikes a mighty blow as the rats run at Garfaulk, but somehow misses. The rat swarm deals 3 damage on Garfaulk and he too, starts feeling a little light-headed.

Meanwhile, dire rats run around the corner and one gets close enough to bite Charles, but he jerks back, and the bite misses.

rolls:

wulf's AoO: 1d20 ⇒ 1
confirm wulf's fumble?: 1d20 ⇒ 7 not confirmed
swarm damage on G: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Garfaulk Fort Save disease: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Garfaulk Fort Save distraction: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
bite on charles: 1d20 + 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + (1) + 1 = 13

The party can hear more squeaking and chittering coming from the courtyard area, but no more rats enter the throne room area other than the one that is swarming Garfaulk.

EVERYBODY CAN GO!

Jolga calls out to the heavens to keep aiding them. The shimmering flail appears near Garfaulk and strikes out at the swarm.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 = 21
Dam: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Also moving. If the spiritual weapon finishes the swarm, then I'll move 10 ft farther.

Charles kills the rat he is attacking. Jolga hits and kills about 50% of the swarm remaining, but more are yet continuing the attack on Garfaulk.

so then the AOE shotgun is less effective at hurting the swarm than my single target gun? Just checking before I post

Sorry if I was confusing. I came to the conclusion that you can do normal damage with it. Actually on tiny swarms, any bludgeoning will do normal damage. They are resistant against piercing/slashing. We can image flattening a bunch of rats with a warhammer, I guess.

Zeke loads his weapon with a bullet and steps forward to fire at the swarm menacing Garfaulk. (I assume it counts as being in melee?)

Pistol, ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 20 (BAB+DEX+enhancement+bless-Precise Shot)
Pistol, bludgeoning and piercing damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Zeke's pistol shot finishes the job on the rat swarm threatening Garfaulk! The room is now free from threats.

that I get. But if I switch to a single shot and do Deadly Aim, I'm still doing bludgeoning, normal damage, plus extra. So using a single shot bullet does more to the swarm than the shotgun blast. Unless I'm missing something? I don't mean to be a pain, just trying to make sure I'm doing it right. Though looks like that doesn't matter now lol

Garfaulk fumbles about with his pistol, distracted, trying to figure out what weapon or anno to use when a bullet exploded in the swarm next to him, making him nearly jump out of his skin-though it seemed the swarm had finally dissipated. He flashes a smile at Zeke, giving him a thumbs up. "Nice shot rev-though maybe a bit o warnin next time, eh? he chuckles, but deals a bit queasy. "Ooph. Not feelin so great. You are still in combat.

Garfaulk steps onto the balcony and shoots down, killing a dire rat.

Garfaulk, it does seem that a single shot pistol would do more damage than your dragonpistol to a single target.

Each one of the levels is 10 foot drop. From rules: Falling: When you deliberately fall any distance, even as a result of a missed jump, a DC 15 Acrobatics skill check allows you to ignore the first 10 feet fallen, although you still end up prone if you take damage from a fall. It would be move action to move up to the edge and purposely drop.I will roll for Wulf to keep things moving...

Wulf walks out on the balcony and purposely drops off, rolling slightly as he lands and popping back up on his feet, weapon at the ready. He prepares to strike the first rat that comes close... which he does, easily slicing it into pieces.

wulf acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
wulf to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 13

As Wulf lands and stands, he is immediately beset by a horde of rats running from around the corner and from the former orc barracks! A swarm of rats tries to jump on him...but he easily swats them to death with the power of his swarmbane clasp.

A rat bigger than Charles runs around the corner, chittering and squealing! The other rats seem to be listening to him! He bits Wulf on the leg...the bite isn't too bad... doing 4 damage before DR... but the saliva burns...Wulf feels... not good.

Three other dire rats come to feast...but they can't get through his skin!

Another dire rat blocks Charles escape, biting at him but missing.

A swarm of rats runs north, past the beset Wulf, up the wall (!!!!) and onto a shocked Garfaulk, who takes 5 damage and picks up another batch of germs.

Seeing the rats swarm forward and begin nipping around at Garfaulk's ankles, Ton backs off hastily. He is no friend of rats and didn't like the idea of them scuttling over him one bit.

He rips his pistol from it's holster but thinks better of firing. What could he shoot at? The dozens of rats crawling over Garfaulk? He was more likely to hit the dwarf than any of them.

Ready a shot against any of the dire rats should they enter this room. With my standard spell selection and equipment loadout, I don't think I can damage a swarm of even tiny creatures.

The rat king chitters and cheaps, and another swarm runs around the corner and up the wall, engulfing Garfaulk yet another time, dealing 3 damage but otherwise not causing further damage.

Pistol damage, bludgeoning: 1d8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8 (enhancement+Deadly Aim)

Seeing that the fight is likely to be more drawn out than he first anticipated, and that the rats are unlikely to break the line past Wulf and then Garfaulk, Ton fires at the rat swarm beside the dwarf.

Shot 1: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 27 (BAB+Dex+Magic 1+inspire-deadly aim)
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 9

Everyone was fast this round! Just Charles needs to act.

I would snap that 19 into a critical threat but swarms can't be crit.

You've got us on the edge of our seat Mustache, I want to see what's in this rat kings pockets.
