The small shape continues working on the old man's bonds. All of a sudden, the man points a hand at the orc standing over him. "Be still!"

Mechanics:

Hold person on the orc on top of me. I'm not sure if he's paying attention to me or not but he'll get an AoO if he is at all. The small shape will use it's reaction to aid another to give me +2 to AC against the attack.

Concentration if I take damage: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Looks like I lose the spell if he manages to hit me at all. AC 20-4+2=18. DC 18 will save for the orc if he doesn't hit me.

If the Orc is paralyzed:

The small, dark shape begins glowing and hovers up to the orc's neck and strikes at it with its tail.
Familiar uses coup de grace on the orc for 2 damage.

Embarrassed by his previous failure at intimidating, Sammy shifts his weapon into a kama and charges at the orc dead ahead of him, slashing. He then continues his attack!

The orc by Jolga doesn't even notice the spell, fully focused on the fight in front of him. will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14 Suddenly he is frozen in place, unable to do anything! coupe de grace vs dc12: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 interesting use of a familiar-- doesn't work in this situation

Meanwhile, Wulf takes down two orcs with a single swing-- the injured orc, and a brand new fresh orc! Both heads turn to jelly.

Sam rushes forward and cuts one down with two hits, and then his off-hand weapon strikes out at a second (reducing him to 0 HP).

Ton fires once- hit! But the orc still stands! His second hit ends the orc entirely. Let me know if you want it different, but it took two shots to kill that wounded one

Just like that-- five orcs taken out of the fight.

Move action to stand and 5 ft stepping away from orc. And orc needs to make DC 10 fort save or be sickened by greensting scorpion poison.

Hmm. Roll20 is a blackout for me too.

Watching his allies treat into tyke orcs, he reaches instead for Crescendo, aiming for the nearest orc he could lay into, and taking his shot. Dropping Slagbreather for his larger weapon once more, he felt a twang of guilt. He was just a better shot with the larger weapon. Taking careful aim,he pulled the trigger, aiming right for center mass using grit for extra damage

Guns blazing, Garfaulk and Zeke together kill another orc, hitting despite the target being under cover. You can together kill one, or individually stagger two (both of whom would still be able to counterattack). Let me know if you disagree with my targeting for you

Together the team kills 5 orcs and disables 1. However, there are six orcs left, and screaming with rage, they plough into the party with falchions! Sam dodges two hits directed at him!

Ton takes a charge dealing 10 damage!

Wulf gets surrounded by them, and is hit twice, for 11 and 7 before DR.

The floating arachnid strikes out at the orcs neck again, this time while rising to above the green-skinned fellow.

Another coup-de-grace of 2 damage and DC 10 con save to not be sickened, just like before.

The old fellow moves forward to see the situation. Seeing three orcs clumped together, he throws some beautiful little lights on them.

Hit die affected from smallest to highest: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6

DC 18 will save against hypnotic pattern. Targeting the furthest down group of 3 orcs. That could technically affect Wulf too if all the orcs (whom I assume have fewer hit die) make their saves. Also, my character doesn't really know Wulf is there due to all the cover.

He calls out to his potential allies "Do not attack the ones that stand dumbly! They will be easily dealt with later."

Wulfs takes some deep cuts but is more than ready to give them back. He shouts back at the orcs his rage only building. Then just before he can swing his hammer he's hit with a cascade of colours, shifting through the air he grabs out at them and is then fascinated the colours scales amazing him.

He stands there now dumbly, his eyes wide with wonder. Waiting to be dealt with later.

Ton aims his weapon at the charging orc but realises he is too late to prevent the attack. He turns his shoulder at the last second, feeling the blade cut into the mail there instead of his neck.

Red fury rises in him but unlike his friend Wulf, he maintains a crystal clear thought process.

Stepping quickly back, he raises the pistol and aims it directly at the orc's face.

I can only affect 6 hd of creatures with leftovers beind wasted so Wulf is only affected if the orcs only have 1 hd each. But you probably already knew this... So sorry Wulf... I was sure they had 2 hd at least. Also, Jolga can't see you...

Garfaulk kept singing, laughing as they took down the orcs, grinning at Ton. "Tha's the way to do it Shade!" he yells, grinning like a lunatic as he kept up his singing, calling the orcs and their mothers a variety of names, as per the song. "Let's see, you're lookin like you could use sone rest" Reloading almost faster than most could see, Crescendo was quickly lined up to put a hole in an orc's head, aiming at the most injured looking one, hoping to take another one Dien Grit again

After a series of terrific hits, the momentum of the Heroes of Torch slows! a couple of bad rolls in here this time

Zeke shoots and misses! As does Sam on his second strike, though his first hits for serious damage. Garfaulk finishes off the orc with a gun shot through the eye.

The one in Ton's grill gets two shots and a face full of mud! reflex: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11 With the orc staggered, he stops in confusion and only has time to wipe his face off.

Will the little scorpion end the paralyzed orc this time? dc 12 coupe de grace: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 He doesn't!

The blind orc swings wildly at Sam. He misses!

Lots of internet issues all of a sudden! Could barely get the map to load!

Seeing the onslaught against the elf with the gun, Jolga decides to help. He calls forth some sparkling motes of light to surround the orc in front of him. Seeing the others, he asks "It seems like we shall be allies, for now at least?"

The orc gets -2 to perception checks and attack rolls. No save. Lasts for 2 rounds. It looks like there is one attacking him who is already debuffed and one who isn't. I'll go after the one who isn't debuffed, if Jolga would be able to tell who is and isn't debuffed in character.

Looking around for another orc, he grins, seeing the one that charged Ton-that gave him another target, just as he was running out too. Looking to the old man, he grinned-he wasn't sure what it was, but he liked his sunny disposition, despite his circumstances.

Wulf continues to stare off at the colours the shifting magnificent colours, it was like nothing he had ever seen before. With a half demented smile his mouth hangs agape droll starting to run from it. He stands oblivious to everything going on around him.


Garfaulk, Ton, and Zeke easily finish up the last two active orcs. The two orcs caught in the hypnotic pattern remain standing still, but surely will snap out of it if any violent action is made toward them.

Assuming you will attack, I will pre-roll their will saves.

Seeing the situation well in hand, the old man merely keeps moving to safety while his tiny, glowing, floating, ally keeps striking at the paralyzed orc.

2 damage. DC 12 fort save against CDG. DC 10 fort against poison. Just a double move for me. Doesn't look worthwhile to spend another spell here. My rescuers have the situation well in hand.

He bends down and picks up a good sized rock before pelting it directly at his friend. He's some distance away; but gambler, liar, drunk and bad husband Ton may be, but he is also a crack shot.

The rock sails in a beautiful arc before cracking Wulf right on the crown of the head.

"Hey Wulf, get your head out of your ass, or you gonna leave us do all the frekking work." he bellows.

When Wulf snaps to, he jumps into action as if nothing had ever happened! He smashes one of the orcs into the side of the head, and it is down immediately.

At the same time, Garfaulk and Zeke shoot the other in the heart and head, respectively.

At the far east side of the open area of trash, the scorpion finally has his way with the paralyzed orc. The orc falls, poisoned, sickened, and finally killed by the scorpion. The little thing skitters back to its master.

The old man and the Heroes of Torch peer at each other in the silence that follows.

The old man nods to the others. His metal ear and the haggard lines of his face speak of injuries and difficulties accumulated over many years. He rises slowly and deliberately with Ton's aid, as if a wrong step could break his entire frame. "Yes it would be best to honor their weapons then leave quickly." A small scorpion covered in many, many pinpricks of white scuttles over then begins to glow faintly as it lifts off the ground and floats into an open pocket on the man's robe. "My name is Jolga. The heavens smile on our meeting. You have been most helpful. Thanks to you, I am well." He reaches into his backpack. "Here. Tokens of gratitude. The stars bless you." He hands labeled bottles to each of you.

The old man holds up certain small trinkets, necklaces, an amulet, a bracelet, all containing bits of starmetal and tries to speak in typical common the best he can. "I'm here to find more starmetal. I used to be part of a Kellid tribe. One night in the desert while I was looking at the night sky, because it is and always has been the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, Mara came to me." He opens the pocket to show his scorpion. Glowing on its shell is a perfect map of the stars. "She spoke to me: 'The stars hear and see you. Give a piece of yourself to them and they will give a piece of themselves to you. Follow the stars, and you will find a home in them one day.' She took my ear with her claw and led me to a man who could replace it with metal from the stars." He touches his cybernetic ear implant. "My tribe cast me out for having tech in my body. Since then, I have followed Mara's guidance. Mostly, she leads me to collect star metal."

He visibly relaxes as he returns to his normal way of speaking. "It is so the heavens guide me. As my people say 'To kill the auroch, you must follow the trail.'"

"Now what of these? If I may, I would honor these fallen foes in the ways of my tribe." He points to the scattered orc corpses.

Wulf comes back not missing a beat, smashing into one of the last orc and putting him down. Now with every Orc dead he looks around trying to figure it all out. As the old man steps towards them he hold up his hammer but relaxes as he does show any sign of attacking them.

"They call me Hammer." He places his hammer on the floor and leans against it. "Don't worry about it, it seems no one was hunt because of it." He waves off the old man, but narrows his eye on him as he attempts to work him out. "I used to be part of a Kellid tribe, you are a shaman then. Do you speak to spirts or only the stars? We had an old man, he was old before I was born but he was Grek." Wulf spits on the floor.

"He was one of them that threw me out when this happened." He taps on his chest, it now a mess of blood but you can see glints of metal under the pock marked skin. "It seems we have one thing in common at least. It is good to meet you Jolga." He offers his large hand. "This doesn't seem like a place you make many friends. But thank you for the gift." He now looks at the potion more closely.

Zeke tries to be polite to the old man but is distracted by the gift. He immediately starts examining the potion. "Thanks, Mister Jolga. You can call me Reverend Night. How did you make this? This is fine magic you have here!"

Sammy watches the old man speak and while he recognizes all the words, put together, he can't make heads or tails of it. Magicians are weird. After it is clear the old man is done saying whatever it was he was saying, Sammy just nods. "OK."

Jolga shakes hands with Hammer with pleasure, though he winces somewhat at the man's strong grip. "Indeed we do have much in common. I shall have to hear more of your tribe and traditions as I have seen many variations within our people. Yes, I am a shaman, it is true. I speak every day with the spirits of the heavens and other spirits at different times." He nods at the mention of the gift. "Thank you for my freedom."

To Reverend Night, he bows in gratitude. "I thank you for your words. May the moon lead you." He points to a collection of herbs poking out of his satchel. "He who knows how to use the weeds lives in a land of plenty." He points to Reverend and Ton's guns. "I see you have marvelous magic as well. To push magic through a tech weapon in that way... it is fascinating."

Garfaulk had been unusually quiet, going around, checking out the bodies, while also hearing Jolga speak. For some reason, he couldn't help but be suspicious of the old man, listening as he spoke of his situation, making sure to put his hand over his bauble, now mounted in Crescendo's stock. He didn't want to lose his trinket to him if there was more to him than apparent. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

He would accept the gift though, and when Ton introduced himself, Garfaulk couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Now now, Tar, no need for aliases here. His name is Shal'Tar, though we sometimes call him Shade, or Shady." Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Despite his initial distrust, Garfaulk slowly starts to warm up to him, especially when realizing the ear isn't just a prop, and his interest in their weapons from a seemingly more curious stance instead of power hungry. "Aye, their arcane talent fer mixin magic and tech is mighty impressive. Anything I do with mah girl here is all me though" Garfaulk slung his weapon over his shoulder, bring sure to show off the bauble to see the old man's reaction. "Mr. Slag. Nice to meet ya " he says, talking a sheep towers gin while extending his hand
