Rhavenna and Wallace:

Tidus pauses for the briefest moment before finishing the last bit of dressing himself. "Thats... its hard to say." He sounds more uncomfortable by the word, peering at the shadows as his brows bunch in concentration.

Tidus and Wallace:
Seeing his growing discomfort Rhavenna doesn't press. "If it's something you'd rather not talk about....I understand. The only thing that matters is that it heals." she says quietly.

Rhavenna and Wallace:

"It is from a long time ago." He looks at both of you with a sidelong glance before settling his eyes on Wallace. "It hasn't healed since then and everything tried has failed. So I live with it as best I can." He runs a hand across his lower back.

Old dude in a bath:

Wallace nods at the elder and grins "That is very true, but just as important as not disturbing things not meant to be prodded is knowing when something is about to change. Like the old legends about towns the earth just decided to swallow whole one day. To seek knowledge of those long buried is to avoid disaster if they ever wake but to seek them is to disturb them. An act quite sure to result in disaster of its own." the human comments as he coils the rope out of the way.

"I will however make sure that we are cautious in where we chose to thrust our light. Perhaps I can pick the brain of our druidic host for advice on such things."

Fire chat: Tidus, Rhavenna:

Wallace arches an eyebrow at pit fighter. "Well now my interest is peaked. It sounds like the old stories about cursed wounds." The human states clearly interested in whatever puzzle is at work, he then glances over to Rhavenna and shrugs. Suppressing his interest as he seems to realize he is pressing don't need a hoof to the head after all
"He doesn't have to say anything though, but who knows? If the story is know perhaps that old druid might know something useful relating to it? I even might, stranger things have happened." Wallace reasons as he seems to think it over.

Rhavenna and Wallace:

Tidus nods tiredly. "Perhaps... which means bothering him in the morning." He yawns then. "I will post at the entrance, wake me if you need something..."

The next morning comes with a bit of disorientation, as waking in a lightless cave was awkward for those unused to such. However the night was undisturbed and each of you awake well rested with your injuries recovering some Normal amount of sleep/hp healed. The Elder appeared to be snoring still, wrapped in his furs up against the cave wall and sleeping soundly on despite your movements.

One change catches you by surprise though is the drop in temperature in the caves you slept in and the air wasn't quite as humid. When you make your way out into the cave entrance where the fire was being restocked by Tidus. You find that quite a bit of snow had drifted in and ice was building around the edges of the cave entrance.

Spoiler:

Tidus nods to those emerging first from their sleep. "The storm hasn't lost much strength. I am prepared for our exploration and the pool is nearly gone..." After a quick meal and some chatter you move to the formerly large pool and find the odd man is already there.

Tresi is sitting on the edge of what used to be the moderately deep watered pool with a thoughtful expression on his face. "At least you caught the majority of the fish here, perhaps with a bit of cultivating we can grow plants..." He pauses short after sensing that underground plant cultivation wasn't why he had been approached. "An unhealing wound you say? Now that is interesting." He looks to Tidus who grimaces as the odd man waves for him to lie down on the nearest upraised rocks.

Bitterly he does as asked, his opinion of Tresi having not risen much after a nights stay in the hospitality of the harpy caves. Tresi undoes some of his armor, just enough to see the small of Tidus's back and narrows his eyes as he examines the wound.

Spoiler:

1d20 ⇒ 2

Those present when Tidus is examined:

He folds Tidus's armor back down and dismisses him from further study. "Quite curious and rather odd. You are right that I have seen this before and know of it. Quite frankly Tidus you have two choices really. Both of which I am sure you already know because if you don't you better learn and quickly." He holds up his hands to illustrate. "Waiting will eventually kill you, one choice will certainly kill you and the other I haven't the faintest idea of What will happen." He lowers his hands before stroking his beard in his usual way. " However what is certain is there is nothing I nor many others can do for you unless of course you chose to be put down." Tersi speaks rather calmly without the slightest hint of humor as he steps away.

Tidus works his jaw wordlessly as he straps his armor back on. "No, I won't let anyone put me down but thanks for your advice. No matter how useless this wa..." His breath stilled as Tersi grabbed him by his jaw and literally forced him to his feet and for the first time his face was deadly serious.

"Useless or not what was done to you is abominable but ultimately you must chose to heed me or not. It is of no concern of mine what path you chose but don't be a damned coward about it..." He lets Tidus jaw go leaving the Gladiator stumbling as if he had been slapped. Tersi clasps his hands behind him as he continues to speak. "... and I hope that when you find those who did that to you you kill them without mercy. And if you can't stomach it I Will Are we clear Tidus?"

Tidus glares angrily at the man before his gaze softens and he nods to which Tersi returns his nod and releases his hands. Letting them hangly loosely at his sides. "Good. Now..."

Tersi stands with the others, his face completely calm as he speaks. "I saw what you found and quite frankly am impressed you pulled it off without incident, though now the guard is removed and we can descend..." He hands Wallace his Anytool back along with Tidus's blade. "I'll be going with you. A bird in hand is worth more then two in the bush. So when you are ready let me know."

Weather stats DC 15 Survival to see:

Description: Snowstorm - Snow and Sleet
Temperature: Cold
High: 27°F (-3°C)
Low: 17°F (-9°C)
Relative: Normal
Wind Force: Severe
Wind Speed: 37 mph (59 kph)
Wind Direction: Coming from the East and heading Westerly.

Snowstorm: The combined effects of precipitation and wind reduce visibility by three quarters, imposing a -8 penalty on Spot, Search, and Listen checks. Snowstorms make ranged weapon attacks impossible, except for those using siege weapons, which suffer a -4 penalty on attack rolls.
Snowstorms automatically extinguish candles, torches, and similar unprotected flames. They cause protected flames, such as those of lanterns, to dance wildly and have a 50% chance to extinguish these lights.

Creatures must succeed on a DC 15 Fort save or be blown away (Tiny or smaller creatures; knocked prone and rolled 1d4 x 10 feet, taking 1d4 points of nonlethal damage per 10 feet), knocked down (Small; prone), or checked (Medium; unable to move forward against the force of the wind).
Airborne creatures are instead blown back 2d6 x 10 feet and dealt 2d6 points of nonlethal damage due to battering and buffeting (Small or smaller creatures), blown back 1d6 x 10 feet (Medium), or blown back 1d6 x 5 feet (Large).

In addition, snowstorms leave 1d6 inches of snow on the ground afterward. It costs 2 squares of movement to enter a snow-covered square.

Cold: An unprotected character in cold weather (below 40°F) must make a Fortitude save each hour (DC 15, + 1 per previous check) or take 1d6 points of nonlethal damage.

A character who has the Survival skill may receive a bonus on her saving throw and may be able to apply this bonus to other characters as well.
A character who takes any nonlethal damage from cold or exposure is beset by frostbite or hypothermia (treat her as fatigued). These penalties end when the character recovers the nonlethal damage she took from the cold and exposure.

Nonlethal damage from cold or exposure cannot be recovered until the character gets out of the cold and warms up again. Once a character is rendered unconscious through the accumulation of nonlethal damage, the cold and exposure begins to deal lethal damage at the same rate.

Sleet: Essentially frozen rain, sleet reduces visibility by half, imposing a -4 penalty on Spot and Search checks. It also imposes a -4 penalty on Listen checks and ranged weapon attacks.

Sleet automatically extinguishes candles, torches, and similar unprotected flames. It causes protected flames, such as those of lanterns, to dance wildly and has a 75% chance to extinguish these lights.

A day of sleet leaves 1d6 inches of loose ice on the ground. It costs 2 squares of movement to enter a sleet-covered square.

Rhavenna watches on with great interest, and no small amount of concern as the severity of Tidu's injury. Perhaps he would shed light on what had happened to him at some point, but whether he did or not, she wanted to be standing next to him when he got his vengeance.

Surprised at her own train of thought, and feeling a hint of color come to her cheeks she focuses outside.

Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

"Ugh! It's going to get ugly today." she says taking in the clear signs of foreboding weather.

Rhavenna:

Despite the wind and snow you can tell from the color of the morning sky that tomorrow the storm would start to clear up. Most likely it would go from this warm spell to a much colder phase...

After tomorrow though you were unsure...

It isn't long until you are all gathered around the opening to the caves beneath this one. Thsoe with darkvision find that their eyes can find nothing more then the spiriling stone steps and the surrounded stalagtites near the opening. Other then that they are met with blackness. Tersi takes his torch and drops it into the void below, letting it brun and spiral between the spirling stone steps before splashing in water down below.

"Two hundred feet by my reckoning. A fair distance down." Tersi lights another torch before looking to the group. "How shall we do this?"

Tidus nods. "I can go down first, make sure the bottom is clear before our other members come in behind."

Tidus gets a talking to

Wallace gives a half concealed with a dangerous looking slant to it as he looks at the pair. The human staying silent but wheels obviously turning in the mans mind.
Responding to the man now would serve no purpose. I will have to wait and see if an option occurs, using my powers in his presence runs the risk of him recognizing what I worship. I'm not like most but one like him isn't going to recognize the distinction. Not that I'd have much for that regardless. Waiting will be best, an opportunity will arise.

The other blades would likely know that this is one of those faces Wallace has when he is searching for a chance at revenge. Though such actions are usually decided by the severity of what caused them. Wallace is not likely to drop this man down an elevator shaft or cause grievous harm at the very least.

Wallace nods as he receives his object back, "Its retrieval is appreciated" The humans fingers brushing the other mans for half a moment as he grabs the item. *shrug* lets see if Wallace finds something of use. Learn-y touch. Using the fact that elder Falldirk said nothing I'm assuming that the spell gives no indication to the target that it has worked.

Later, in the lower cave.

Wallace nods "well I prepared a spell of light today so we likely won't have to worry over the torch as much. Though I can only keep one active and will need to renew the magic every half hour or so." The human says as he casts the spell and a pebble began to glow like a torch.
"If we keep it in a scroll tube with a stick or something jammed in the end to prevent it from rolling out the light will be restricted to a smaller area so we don't announce out presence to absolutely everyone. Though we could also just spend the next little while skipping rocks in this area to figure out more. As long as we have pebble to throw we will never run out of torches to use for this."
Wallace then looks over to Tidus and nods "Well that could work assuming that Tersi here doesn't have a nature magic that would help us climb up and down this shaft with ease. I know some spell casters have a spell called feather fall that might help us all get down there safely. Something that gives us the climbing prowess of an ape or spider would also be quite useful. If not then I saw a trick on the docks once that might help us. One can lift things with ease using a pulley and a counter weight, we use enough rope to give Tidus room to get down there and explore a small distance, form my anytool into a pulley and attach a sizable rock to the other side. If something is down there ,that gives him trouble, Tidus says some word or does an action that tells us that. We push the rock over the edge and Tidus gets pulled up a large portion of the way up by the falling rock. He'd likely get somewhat hurt in this process but the other option is fighting whatever creatures are down there alone." Wallace suggests as he snaps the anytool into a steady looking wheel with a large length of metal where it could be anchored to something.
"Such are the risks one takes when thrusting their torch into darkness long untouched. We could also provide ranged support from above assuming Tidus can get to a spot where we can see down there. It might also be good to see if there is an actual path down there on the outside of the hole. I'm fairly sure that out of all of us the length of rope I brought is the only one long enough for this descent. Were it damaged we would have to be cautious of tying the rope back together."

---------------
On second thought: because I forgot to account in the fact that there is an underground lake/river at the bottom.

Wallace then has a thought and casts light on a rock, hucking it down the hole trying to judge the total depth of the descent including the underwater portion.
If it exceeded 300 ft
"Ok, so using the rock idea would lose us our rope. We could also just use the pulley and drag him up, I could hitch the excess to Tim."

I vote we dangle tidus down the hole like heavily armored bait with a rapid escape method up our sleeves. Assuming we can find a spot rhavenna can overwatch with her bow as she would be able to see anything within range of the torch down there. A shame Daylight is a L3 spell, it would likely help in this instance. There are half a dozen druidic mobility spells that our NPC friend could have prepared that would help in this instance. He also very likely has wild shape and could take a form with both a climb speed and a swim speed (EX:A snake) to take a look down there himself.

Female Centaur Ranger (Skirmisher/Divine tracker) 4

Yeah but we're the PC's, the point isn't to use the NPC's to do all the work

Male Male Human Evangelist cleric 4 HP 40/44 AC:17/13/14 F+7/R+4/W+9 Init+3 Perception+13

*Shrug* Out of game that is entirely true. This is why I had Wallace suggest the bait/ counter weight idea.
In game wallace is sure as hell not going to pass up the option of letting the druid of unknown potency do something to demonstrate his actual capacities. Druids are rather famous for murdering aberrations and their followers, I can't imagine said druid would be terribly pleased with a follower of Yoggie in his presence.
the sooner Wallace can get the mans measure the better.
Corerue has also done a good job so far of providing challenges to us that match up with the power we get provided thanks to our allies. So I can only imagine that were Tresi to give us all spider climb that we would then get stuck in a battle on the cave wall with a massive host of giant spiders or Gugs. Hrmm.. perhaps I should stop giving the GM ideas. I'm still waiting for the smoke bomb elemental thing I suggested to come back and bite me in the ass.

Wallace:

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

A single memory assails you. That o Tersi and another man having a rather heated argument over a massive chasm in the midst of a powerful storm. Tersi's voice cracked the sky like the peel of thunder as the black cloaked man stood still as stone and calm in the midst of the powerful wind.

"I will Never accept what you propose. The path you are walking is one of abomination and damnation of normal life! I will oppose you and, if I must, I will destroy you!"

The figures voice rose above the winds as he spoke with a sinuous tone back at Tersi. "Abomination? Damnation? Don't let your foolish philosophical nonsense cloud the truth. Iobaria is doomed, as is the nations around it lest we do something... Or have you forgotten our oaths Brother?"

Tersi's expression was like stone, unmoved and unyielding to this madness. "It is contained! And the ones whose good sense is clouded is you! You think by butchering the weak that that will allow the strong to win out! That was never our practice and our oaths forbid us from interfering in such a way! What happened to you? Where did this mad thinking come from!?"

The blackclad figure through their arms wide and lightning struck down on Tersi then, hammering him hard enough to crack the stone beneath his feet. "Contained! Gozreh's ass! Temporary at best! Only the strong can inherit Iobaria!" They throw their arms wide and shout at the skies. "Clarity was bestowed upon me from the darkness in this land and I saw the gaping hole that will soon swallow all if we delay. Besides our oaths forbid us lest we see no other recourse but to inter-."

The man's speech is cut off as his feet sink into the stone beneath his feet. He barely had chance to react as Tersi's voice boomed at him. "NO!" Lightning slammed down then, followed by three successive strikes of fire from the center of the storm above them. "I WON'T LET YOU!" Tersi's form changed, taking on the form of a massive Earth elemental as the last fire strike blasted his opponent deeper into the solidifying muck at their feet. His massive granite fist came barely inches from impact when it was halted by a powerful wall of air.

His opponent rose above him a massive air elemental that looked like a great shadow as the air swirling within it was pitch black. "YOU! STOP ME!? YOU JEST!" With a single blow he clobbers Tersi, shattering his elemental form and sending him sprawling, nearly sliding off into the chasm before he can recover.

Tersi was bleeding, several cuts marred his scalp. His face was grim but no less daunted by what he had to do. He barely rises to his feet before clasping his hands together, kneeling in supplication. "Help me..." No sooner had the words left his lips did three balls of fire rain from the sky and towards his opponent. Who looked up at them mockingly and raised his air elemental empowered fists to deflect them.

The fire burst and within the flame came three powerful outsiders, whose blades cut deeply into the air elemental leaving it staggering in shock. They landed hard and surrounded their enemy easily enough, their hound like heads growling as they raised their blades once more. These canine-headed humanoids well-groomed appearance and polished greatsword's showed them to be more than a common beast. Their armored gleamed as they stood upright and ready for battle with white light bleeding from their blades.

The elemental faded back into a simple man and the three outsiders tensed as he threw back his head in outright mockery of Tersi. His laughter rolled like thunder. "YOU CALL ON THEM! ARE YOU SO WEAK!" He looked to be trying to do something as he shouted and the shock when they realized nothing happened crossed their face made Tersi look absolutely wretched. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE to ME!"

"What I had too..." The three outsiders lunged forward, not waiting for their opponent to try something else and settling on annihilating him. Their greatblades struck out, spraying the stone with their foes blood with each powerful blow. However they didn't fall and instead pointed accusingly at Tersi.

"Remember this! Remember that you killed us all!" With those words he turned and threw himself off the ledge and into the chasm.

Tersi moved to the edge, too late to prevent his foe, his brother from tossing themselves off.

Tersi stood their, the three large outsiders moving to him and looking at him with their ears flat in a worried way. One whined as it noticed his injuries and pressed one of its massive hands against his head. Healing the external wounds but not able to heal the pain in his heart.

"I will save Iobaria, but not the way you chose brother. The Blackclad were meant to purge corruption, including their own if needed. No matter the cost." The three outsiders looked concerned as Tersi's black hair greyed and his skin paled as he aged in their presence. However before the departed the same Archon that healed him touched his head once more and the age inflicted on his skin disappeared though the grey in his hair remained.

Tersi looked to the outsider then whose golden eyes merely looked back in warmth and friendliness. He saw something glinting from its collar as it vanished and for a moment he stood shocked as they left him standing alone...

Sense Motive check please Wallace. In spoilers.

Below the hole is a stone path that is a bit of a step down and spirals downward with carved stone steps. However the path is just wide enough for Rhavenna to move down but it would be difficult for her to turn back once she started downward.

Tidus listens to the ideas and shrugs. "Tying a rope around me is fine enough, if I run into anything then I will get the hell out. Simple. Now... If you can enchant a rock can you enchant a sword? Or scabbard with light?"

Tersi watched curiously, looking into the yawning pit before calmly adding. "I will follow Tidus down, I have a few spells that can give light as well as harm those that threaten us. No rope though, it'll just get in my way." He looks to makes sure there was no further ideas before the proceeded...

glad he hasn't noticed me then
sense motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Wallace sighs "the idea is not to provide us a means of helping you if it is needed. If some giant cave fish decides you are dinner I'd give us the opportunity to help you escape rather than watch you get devoured from up here. with that the human whips into a hand motion and moves to touch Tidus's indicated sword. The blade giving off a pale green light that casts harsh contrast to all in its path.
"I've no other comments." the human states as he gives the druid an appraising look while waiting to see what he was going to do.

Female Centaur Ranger (Skirmisher/Divine tracker) 4

That works. I'll cover you since I can see past the gloom." Rhavenna says nocking an arrow to her bow as she stares down into the darkness.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 18 if human

Tersi nods though continues to be unwilling to be tethered, merely deflecting it with comments along the lines of I will manage somehow... but revealing little more then that cryptic comment.

Tidus nods to Rhavenna and ties off before using the blade Wallace had enhanced for him as a light source as he descended the spiraling stone steps down into the unknown caverns below.

Rhavenna finds it hard to see past the spiraling stone steps as Tidus and Tersi move slowly downward to the bottom a couple hundred feet below...

Spoiler:

1d100 ⇒ 27

The reach the bottom, though are far out of easy sight by the time they do so. Only Tidus's pale green glow is murkily seen in the dark and after a few sharp tugs on the rope are the only indicators that it appears to be safe to descend.

Once you make your preparations to descend read the following spoiler.

The deep dark:

As you descend the rush and fall of flowing water drowns out a lot of easily heard sounds, it had been barely noticeable before but now that you were inside the massive cavern it was very noticeable now. Rhavenna notes that the cavern is well over 60ft wide, easily the width and more of the caves above as her darkvision isn't able to make out the walls of this cavern. Due to all the water over the years several large columns of stone have grown together and not surprisingly some have been worked on as well, much like the steps your were treading on. Note: Perception -2 within the cavern

The steps prove annoying for Rhavenna, as they were apparently made for those on two legs and the angle of your descent made for clumsily moving forward lest you lose your footing in the damp conditions. [ooc]Note: Double movement cost while on the steps

As you descend towards Tersi and Tidus you see why the light of Tidus's sword was murky from above. A low misty fog enshrouds the lowest part of the massive cavern you were in, making seeing what you were descending into all but impossible to make out.

Is there anything you wish to try before I proceed?

I hope the holidays were good for you and yours my fellows. Apologes for the long overdue and rather short post. I don't mean to drag this out by any means.

Maiathreen descends with the others his eyes pierce through the darkness but is still hampered by the low hanging mist.

Moving on.

The low hanging mist of the cave brings a cool chill to your skin and after a while the dew begins to frost. Unlike the caves above this cave is far colder, despite the warm water that continually falls here. Though standing above the mist on the stairs the air is noticeably warmer.

When you all rejoin Tidus and Tersi they stand, Tidus far more tense then the odd robed Tersi, on what appears to be a perfectly flat stone floor covered in a thick slab of smooth ice. You cannot see further than a few feet in either direction and the sounds of the falling water make it difficult to hear. Aside from the spiraling stairs the area you stand in is rather featureless, with nothing of note in any direction that you can immediately see.

Tidus was standing with two swords drawn now, one giving off that eerie green glow from Wallace's magic as he nods to everyone as they arrive. "Can't hardly see in this clinging fog. If there is anything down here we won't see it before it hits us. "

Tersi was stroking his beard as he raised a hand and weaved it through the air speaking in sylvan as he tried to invoke some sort of spell. However nothing stirred but his hair and robes to which he merely gave an interested. "Hmm."

Livain:

unlike the others you may as well have been standing in the center of a clear room, at least up until your darkvision though what yo were seeing was putting you on edge. Between each of the surrounding stone pillars was a statue each depicting something different.

An archer clad in rough clothes, on their knees without their bow, several arrows protrude from their back.

An old woman, whose face had an understanding yet bemused expression, her right hand was cupped with her palm facing upwards.

A wild boar, looking enraged and preparing to charge. Its tusk appear to be overly large.

A creature that resembles a mix of a harpy, except masculine with a hawks head and hawk-like features in its feathers, the beak on its face and its taloned hands and feet. It also has two sets of wings instead of one.

Wallace gives Tersi a look of resigned patience as he walks the path down following Rhavenna. " You are exactly as the old stories I heard about druids."

-----

Down the hole

Wallace gives the ice a hefty strike with his anytool to gauge its thickness before stepping onto it. The human drawing and lighting a torch to try and extend everyones vision.
"Well I can't say I was expecting this with as much water that had been pouring down here yesterday. It seems terribly convenient to be natural as we'd be at a great disadvantage if this had been frigid water. Livain, is the mist down here cold enough that you can see through it?"
The human glances over in the direction of Tersi's voice. "Now, was that a bad hmm or a perplexed hmm? Also would you be so kind as to clear the fog if you can? Well unless that spell you just cast was in fact your attempt and the fog did not agree to leave. I could give it a try myself but I don't exactly have command of the natural world in the same way you do." Wallace says as he forms his anytool into an enormous fan, whipping the device forward once. Mostly to see what such an action would do. One seeing the reaction the human nods.
"So, shall we saunter a bit and see if we can find a wall or some other landmark?"

Wallace's class ability to make himself heard in just about any situation would likely make him able to talk over the noise in here. Though at this point we are all close enough that it doens't really matter.

Tersi nods at Wallace's initial question. "I'm surprised you know much about druids, though indeed the fog resists any attempt to displace it. It is... unnatural to say the least." He looks back at the sound of the following water...

Your DM forgets the little details as water is still falling from above and dispersing across the ice near the stairs though it is not completely freezing up.

"The water we let in yesterday is most likely the continuing cause of this. I dare say this will be an interesting bit. Which direction do you wish to go?" He saunters out of the mist and becomes more visible though Wallace's torch only makes the fog all that much brighter, as though ice flakes were literally swirling around you all...

Livain relays what she can see. See spoiler above. While drawing her bow uneasily, much like Tidus was standing with his blades drawn. Her description indicates that every other statue i one that appears to be harpy like in nature.

Tidus's eyes were closed though and he appeared to be concentrating intently now. He nods in agreement with Tersi statement or Wallace's, though continues to just stand still and listen to your surroundings.

Bow held at the ready, peering into the darkness, Rhavenna slowly and awkwardly makes her way down the stairs. Listening to Livian's description she orients herself toward the harpy like statues.

"They sound like that Pazuzu bastard you were talking about. The harpies probably put those statue up recently." she says to Tersi.

Male Male Human Evangelist cleric 4 HP 40/44 AC:17/13/14 F+7/R+4/W+9 Init+3 Perception+13

Wallace looks away giving a faint flash of melancholy that vanishes behind the mans grin a moment after it arrives. "I've heard tales, about the Druidic order. The devotions they carry and the ferocity they can disabuse you of the notion that nature is impartial."
Or at the very least in front of you rather than at your back.
With that he gives a wave of his hand toward the fog. "As to the nature of your action I guessed. I doubt you are having much of an easier time seeing in this than all of us, had I the power banishing the fog would be my first action." The priest states grinning at the druid.
On hearing Livain's words Wallace lowers his head and hums under his breath.
" So, Three Hawk-men. Masculine with four wings. varied weapons. That doesn't sound much like harpies barring the common factor of birds. Never mind the fact that from what our hosts have told us no Harpies have ever been down here. A flooded cavern like this would ahve very likely been such a creatures end. However this is a place of power, perhaps just worshiping here afforded Pazuzu the power to corrupt this place physically. We should be wary, such a being is unlikely to release a foothold as this without some manner of conflict."
The human says with some assurance* pausing in his words and looking in the direction of Tersi
"This being a temple of Erastil it is possible that these statues are sacred to his worship? The Stinger-hawk quite obviously not any of the others? the statues covered over in grime are likely all his as well. "

With that Wallace nods before orienting himself to the statue of the woman. "Unless there are objections I would like to examine these statues up close. I've prepared divining magics that will likely help in determining their importance. If there are no objections I'd like to start with the blackened statues then perhaps look at the stinger-hawk. If it doesn't give me something useful in our questing down here then I'd say our next step is to destroy the statues associated with Pazuzu and perhaps scraping whatever is on the other statues off."

Wallace wishes to approach the blackened statues first, starting with the woman and then going to the other ones in any order. (Learny touch) because Wallace sadly does not have enough still points to be much of a knowledge source without that crutch. Assuming nothing else occurs Wallace would then go to the Stinger-Hawkman and see if he can pick something up there. Worst case we can start breaking stuff until something happens.

*Wallace believes this due to having scanned the harpy queen earlier. Very possible he is wrong.

Tersi gives another hmm at the description and remarks to Rhavenna's comment. "Perhaps their was more to the evil queen then I thought. Tricky bird..." At Wallaces statement he listened quietly before adding.

"Nature is impartial, it cannot be flattered by prayers nor swayed by requests for favor. It is the Gardener that needs reminding of their true purpose at times. Lest they start thinking that they are master and nature the slave..." Tersi tilts his head as he runs his hands over his beard.. "And Yes, this fog proves resistant to my attempts to move it aside." He ceases speaking as he reacts to a sudden gasp nearby.

Tidus doesn't move more then a step, positioning himself to where he can move quickly without stumbling into someone or a possible rock underfoot.

Livian gives a gasp of alarm as the sound of stone scratching across stone could be heard. "The unarmed harpy one is moving. It's... Watching only you Wallace." She raises her bow the creaking of the string as she readies to fire.

Do you continue with your actions Wallace. Or anyone else for that matter?

Male Male Human Evangelist cleric 4 HP 40/44 AC:17/13/14 F+7/R+4/W+9 Init+3 Perception+13

Wallace looks in the direction of the moving statue and exhales slowly. "But it hasn't moved toward us yet, yes?" The human asks before seeming to think of something.
"Like calls to like, it is possible the statue is drawn to the skull of the harpy queen. I still have it on me, so I am going to retrieve it. Tell me how the statue reacts. Keep your weapons ready in case it attacks." the human states, waiting for his companions to prepare before pulling out the skull and awaiting a reaction.
this would be assuming no objections, voice your concerns if you have them.
"Who knows, perhaps it just wants someone to talk to" The human states as he peers intently into the fog.

If the statue does not make obvious movements Wallace will continue with his stated actions except he will approach the unarmed hawk man before the stinger-hawk. (after examining the goo covered statues.) Assuming the statue makes no aggressive actions Wallace would approach cautiously. If the statue isn't reacting to the queens skull there is a chance it wants to interact based off what Wallace was saying. Now obviously everyone else will want to ready to crush the thing to powder but it hasn't tried to kill us yet.

the closer wallace gets to one of the grim covered statues the hawkfaced one continues to pursue him, the moment he chooses to look at a different grime covered one a [i]different[p/i] hawkfaced one steps forward. Though they do not return to where they were standing if he changes direction towards them.

The the moment they take more then a few steps the sound of grinding stone can be heard as they start to shift their stances.

The archer like one reaches for and begins to n=nock an arrow to its bow string. The unarmed one begins to raise its hands and shifts its stance with agonizing slow movements. The one armed with the blade starts to clasp it two handedly the moment it steps forward. Liain, far more annoyed or nervous now states that they seem intent on Wallace. Ignoring all others.

Tidus opens his eyes and begins to shift to flank these strangely acting statues. The moment he reaches their side though the sword wielding one shifts to look at him instead. Unable to see it Tidus stops at Livain's shout. Tersi meanwhile was merely observing everything with narrowed eyes.

To clarify, you are able to barely make out the woman's statue now, though a few more steps and the statues pursuing you will be right in the middle of your companions. You haven't reached the others but shifting your steps is what brings the other two forward. They do not return to their former position even when you step back either.

With Darkvision can I notice any of this?

The fog is preventing much of the groups vision though Livain does her best to point out rough directions. Though as Wallace's feet shift somewhere in the fog a silhouette starts to loom nearby, nearly at the center of the groups location. Rhavenna spotted when Tidus disappeared into the fog, though Livain is keeping a hold on him as well. You can hear the grinding stone in the fog but with the caverns, the falling water and echoes its hard to ascertain direction properly.

Perception DC 15 will allow you to get their direction but attacks will be at a disadvantage.

"We need to stop moving!" the human states as he does his best to avoid any movements that had activated the Golems previously.
"Whatever these creatures are they are not true guardians. Had that been the intent they would have activated at once and tried to smash us to paste, instead they play some manner of game with out movements." The human states as he resists the urge to stroke his chin.
"Even though the fog is in the way they can see us, how does that work? I've heard no strange sounds from them but could they be hunting us as bats do, perhaps they can see us as a spider in its web. Perhaps they can only see us when we are connected to the ground?"

Have either Maiathreen or Livain attempted flying in here? Wallace is just throwing out some ideas here. I don't fancy our chances against these things, be it a golem or an animated object the hardness and DR rules will make fighting one of these things miserable.

Can I lower the fog?

Livain:

With your ice/snow vision you can see through it so you are able to manipulate it as well and, unlike, Tersi it moves at your whim a lot easier. Feel free to post what you do, upto a major radius, imagine 60ft...

if the fog could drop so we can see whats going on here that'd be great. Also if you or Mai could go ahead and try flying around to see if these statues are getting their information from the ground would be great.

Constructs are a big pain to deal with so it'd be nice if we could avoid fighting these things. The floor is made of ice, perhaps we could do something to mess with them involving that? For example Livain could stick my feet to the ground and then move the ice under me to see if that might work. though if that works just having the people targeted by the statues stand still as Livain buries them in shaped ice would be an option.

If there are any questions ask away. :)

don't know what wallace can do without input. As it stands wallace cant move much or try stuff without letting the statues do stuff to us. Don't suppose our NPC friends have any words of wisdom? Oh and I don't suppose there is anyway wallace could touch the floor in some manner to trigger his touch ability without activating the statues? Like, I dunno kicking off a boot and touching the ground with a foot?

Can't really see anything so just holding with bow ready to fire

Everyone was holding still, their breath steaming out from them as they all waited. Waited for something to break, to move, anything. Rhavenna's bow creaked at her powerful draw.

Tidus stood alone in the fog, a looming figure in the blinding fog before him. Lit by the eerie green light cast upon his blade, he adjust his grip and to his surprise so did the statue. He paced his breathing then and prepared for combat.

Tersi closed his eyes and appeared to be barely breathing, a small wisp of steam rolling from his lips.

Moving things forward by end of day.

Livain lowers her bow, putting it away before turning her attention to the fog. It was a strain to try and control so much area...

Spoiler:

1d20 ⇒ 18

Livain lifted her hands palm up and focused with all of her might as she turned her hands palms down and brought them downward. With each passing second the fog lowered inch by inch until it was merely shrouding everyone's feet. Though the clear area was only a sixty foot area centered on Livain...

The statues, now clearly visible were much more fearsome up close and each looked poised to strike.

Tidus was in a stance of his own and looked ready to move at a moments notice as he faced down the sword wielding statue. He grinned as he growled. "I can't say I had the pleasure of killing a construct before."

At that moment Tersi opened his eyes and gave an annoyed moan. "Do not underestimate them, I doubt they are mere constructs this whole place hums with an energy only a dragon or greater creature could control..." He looks at Livain then and a merry smile crossed his face before he spread his hands wide his clenched fists were dripping fire which fizzled out as it hit the ice around hi feet. "Do not be afraid..." Was all he said before his body suddenly disintegrated with a staggering blast of searing flame and what rose in his place was that of a being made of pure heat and flame.

Wallace visibly flinches at the druids self-immolation and seems concerned before his brain catches up with his body.
He's not here for me. However if I'd have been smarter my allies would not have to risk their lives again. Yet again I am sightless.
Wallace face falls into a frown looking at the great statues and grunting in annoyance "Fine, guess we take the Gordian approach to this! Make sure Livain is defended we are going to have a much harder time if the fog comes back." The human commands as he unfurls his banner and begins his disconcerting song.

Wallace raises his standard and begins his bardic song. +2hit/damage to PC characters. Tersi does not follow the Blades standard as his current clan, house or whatnot. So he just gets a +1.

Each of the statue's eyes brighten as Wallace begins to sing.

Unlike the rest of the group these statues had no problem clawing across the ice with their heavy steps, standing at seven feet tall they are no less intimidating as the react far more quickly than before...

I meant the fire exploded outwards it's a ranged attack also shouldn't he be at 8 hp or does DR count against elemental damage?
