I'm all Arcane Caster-Hybrid though! Weee :P And with my Quick Study Exploit, I can have any spell in my spellbook at my fingertips, though only a limited number of times per day, considering I only have 3 points in my aracne pool.
Seriously, Quick Study is AWESOME.

I listed Kunala's pistol as a battered double barreled (wheellock) pistol,
if it should be singled barreled, it will be a battered (snaphounce) pistol, the precursor to flintlocks.
Oh, and thanks again for doing two tables!

Please change it back to a a battered (wheellock) singlebarrel pistol. You used your boon for the race! And do not make it more complicated than it is, there are rules for reloading.

You have till tonight to finalize your chars.
You have heard the following rumors
Garritt the Junkmaster found something a few weeks ago that lit up his shack like a second torch. He’s been real quietlately. Wonder what he’s hiding in that junkyard?
The mechanical creature Councilman Baine found under the hill wasn’t the only one. Others have been crawling out
of the ground around town and attacking people!
There’s at least one Technic League spy in town, mark my words.
The Technic League is behind the problems in town. One of their agents put out the torch so we’ll all go broke and they
can take the place over for free!
You didn’t hear it from me, but Garmen Ulreth’s Ropefists have something to do with these problems. How do I know? Well... Ulreth’s got his fingers in pretty much everything bad in town already, so why not our latest troubles?

Made a few minor changes to Okrin:
Changed Local Ties to affect Knowledge(Engineering) instead of Disable Device, and I dropped my 1 rank in Disable Device for a rank in Knowledge(Dungeoneering).
Dropped my Thieves' Tools for 30gp, which I then spent on 3 additional 1st level spells. All purchased spells are marked with a *, the rest I started with.

I think you missed my post in the recruitment thread. I rolled for stats and listed my virtue and flaw. Will add to my alias once I get home. I guess if I do duel wield I will pick up a rapier then same stats just different fluff. Sense it's not a slashing weapon will need to swap out slashing grace for fencing grace. Not too out of character sense Kimos worships the lucky drunk. I just preferred a less roguish feel for him. Ending my rambling now. ;-)
Raffinyaler
Okrin: with you having Local Ties also, how well do our characters know each other? Raffinyaler has been in Torch for at least 15 years* at this point, but he also knows Khonnir mainly as a drinking buddy and occasional employer. Unless you object, I feel like we'd only vaguely know each other - I know you mainly as that kinda weird kid Khonnir took in a while back, while you know me mainly as that gnome who hangs around the tavern a lot and has a bit of an unsavory reputation for doing "things."
Helikon: Updated Raffinyaler's crunch based off your note. For my second trait from Additional Traits I picked up Rapscallion, and I grabbed a Traveler's Any-tool with the extra cash left over from Rich Parents. Sorry about the extra extract, I've removed Crafter's Fortune from his starting list.
Also, can Okrin and I get an info dump on Khonnir and Val Baine's backstories to help us flesh out our own?
* I can't figure out exactly when the Black Sovereign took over Starfall, and hence when Raffinyaler would have moved to Torch. The earliest date I can find is that he kicked the Pathfinder Society out in 4699, so I assume Raffinyaler has been in Torch for at least that long.
Okrin Ashweaver
Yeah I don't think we'd know each other very well - Okrin doesn't drink, for one, and two, he's generally too busy tinkering or studying magic to socialize. It would make sense then that I know you as the gnome who hangs around the tavern a lot, XD.
That being said, he likely knows you're a friend of Khonnir and would have sought you out as he sought to get a group together to go find Khonnir.
As for info on Baine, I'm good - I have all I need for that, and my background is finished already.

I honestly missed the dice rolls.

Kunala will use the cane and the empty cane scabbard as an improvised weapon.
Also pretty much any thing he can pick up or hold: like a torch or even a pewter mug, depending on what's at hand, but I was thinking mostly the cane or if he is using the sword-cane its empty scabbard.
Sorry I'm just repeating myself now ;)

Character updated. Look at my virtue and flaw... I don't really know if there is a list somewhere I should be choosing from or something.
Helikon
For the virtues and flaws. There is no list. More like the virtues and sins. If your virtue is that you can are cool in battle, that is a virtue.
If you say your char is an alcoholic thats a flaw. Or maybe he is a messy. Or he cheats. Something like that.
BTW if you want additional Rumors, roll for gather information.

You hear the following rumors:
We’ve always had problems with gremlins around these parts—the pests are always breaking things or running off with supplies. I bet they have a whole nest somewhere in those caves under Black Hill.
Wonder what happened to that good-looking woman with the purple hair? Doesn’t anyone else find it strange that she showed up a few days before the torch went out, and that no one’s seen her since?
Kunala
I thought using Improvised defense I could use the cane in my off hand for the +1 shield bonus when using the pistol or whip. Then, the cane scabbard when using the cane sword. I’m not going to fight two-handed or use the item as a weapon per se.
If that is not available, I will trade the cane sword in for a rapier and buckler and the improvised defense for armor expert. I will also lose a couple items to compensate for the weight.
I would also like to gather more information

Indeed he should be able to do that then, Helikon. That trait is from Bastards of Golarion, if you're curious. Its here on the PFSRD.
Kunala
I'm terribly thorry fellaths
with a long draw out sigh and a role of eye. placing his hand on his hip, twirling his cane in the other
but I only thpeak common. doeth this mean I mutht carry a thword and a thield along with my lovely matchlock pithtol and whip or do I get to keep my lovely thtick to lean on
placing the cane-tip on ground and leaning on it as he shrugs his shoulder and flips his hand out in a quizzical jesture
quietly to himself thoon they will ethpect me to carry my own pack ath well rolling his eyes
seriously haven't you heard the joke about 'what you call a person who speak one language', google translate told me it means "in doubt for the accused" So, do I get to use my swordcane, I looked the trait up on the forums and that is how they used it consistently, please, oh please, oh please, I'm not afraid to beg for art.
what do you call a person who speaks three languages....multi-lingual
what do you call a person who speaks two languages...bi-lingual
what do you call a person who speaks one language...American
told to me by my daughter who speaks four languages, including sign, and has her masters in teaching English as a second language
Kunala
after that I'm afraid to ask, did the gather information glean anything?
seriously, I just remembered the other reason for the cane, I took dune drifter instead of musketeer because I thought I could use this trait this way. The dune drifter doesn't have shield so I cannot take the buckler. If I cannot use this trait can I change my archetype to musketeer? I can get it done tonight at work and it will not slow the game down any, I promise.

You hear the following rumors:

I always figured Black Hill was hollow. There’s probably some big ancient ruin under our very feet connected to whatever machine makes the violet fire on the hilltop.
Garritt the Junkmaster found something a few weeks ago that lit up his shack like a second torch. He’s been real quiet lately. Wonder what he’s hiding in that junkyard?
Kunala
Out of curiosity what time zone is everyone? in I am UTC -4 or EST
Kunala has been in town a short period of time, he has been sent here apparently to "cool off" due to some problems in Cheliax. He is a fop, a dandy a popinjay, he has been seen in and out of drinking and gambling establishments. He is quick witted and his barbs can be sharp but relatively harmless. He has a great interest in "climbing the social ladder" and in the technology peculiar to this area. Once you become his friend he does not forget.
Kunala
@ Kimos, is the mask something that we in the party may see, or is it something to help with the character development.
@ Orkin, speaking of masks, well...I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this one.
Also, PMed with Helicon, he let me change to "Musketeer" so I have med. armor and shield now.
a quick question, has anyone seen any rules on using a lanyard to drop a pistol but preventing it from hitting the ground? Seems like it would be faster than holstering it.
Kimos Kousei
Normally he only puts on the mask when he is out to kill a specific person/thing/monster. It is sort of his killer persona. That being said if he considers the party trustworthy he may show it. But regular people don't see it as it could be very easy to link him to a lot of deaths that way. Despite the fact that he kills people who deserve it, it is not legal and he knows it. Which is the point of the mask to begin with, also helps him keep a mental separation from being a ruthless killer and a person.
Hope that explains it and does not cause more confusion.
Raffinyaler
I'm at GMT -6 (CST). But I also have a really weird sleep and availability schedule right now, so postings can come from me at pretty much any time of the day or night.
Kunala
@ Helikon, sir, what is your opinion on using a lanyard attached to the pistol and the shoulder, so I can drop the firearm (without it hitting the ground) and draw a melee weapon.
if this doesn't sound feasible, before we leave town I will buy a buckler and switch the pistol to my off-hand to draw a melee weapon.
I was disappointed that the "quick draw" feat only addressed un-holstering the weapon and not re-holstering it
Raffinyaler
In discussion with Okrin at the moment regarding our characters' introductions.
Raffinyaler
As a heads up to you all, when excited Raffinyaler will have a tendency to change languages multiple times mid-sentence, at the moment mainly sticking to Gnomish (Dutch), Hallit (German), Elven (Welsh), and/or Draconic (latin). I'll be providing spoilered ooc notes on what languages he's using and what he's saying for Helikon's benefit, and the benefits of anyone else who happens to have any/all of those languages.
Helikon
I would say that this is not a good idea.
For two reasons.
First: Firearms are still very delicate. If you fall, if you are attacked they can be damaged.
Second. Fencing with a moving weight around you is a b!+$@. Used to try to fight with a sword and a sack of heavy balls on a life con and that was a real b~*!%.
Holstering your weapon is for sure better to protect it.
Kunala
very good points thank you,
so the best way to use Opening Volley is to fire the weapon at the beginning of the first round, holster the weapon as a move action at the end of the first round. Move into melee position unsheathing a melee weapon as I move at the beginning of the second round and attacking at the second half of the second round.
I think that will work, if you see a problem please let me know
I apologize for all the newby stuff, before Ting Tang the last time I played strength was still 18/00, and we didn't have guns or the feats to use them :-)
Your ranged assault leaves your foe disoriented and vulnerable to your melee attack.
Benefit: Whenever you deal damage with a ranged attack, you gain a +4 circumstance bonus on the next melee attack roll you make against the opponent. This attack must occur before the end of your next turn.
Kunala
@ Okrin I figured I would move the comment here, and not clutter up the game thread
I love the mysophobia, yea I had to look it up, all I can picture is a hoodie pulled real tight around a pair of scuba like goggles, Its great.
I have absolutely no idea how Kunala is going to react to it, I just want it to be epic. LOL
Kunala
Hey guys, I'm fairly new to PBP, I have the luxury of being able to post a lot. but I don't want to monopolize the game, so any constructive criticism would be happily accepted.
Having said that, I picture Kunala as a face and a front liner, he should not be the person making decisions, even if he thinks he should be.
Kimos, love the attitude, no Teflon there.
Raffinyaler (we may have to give him a nick name so I don't have to copy and paste) charisma 14... now that we are away from the law-dogs don't be shy. Also, if I understand the posting numbers your fairly new to this also, right?
I want to play Kunala as a support person, not the attention bunny, so I will try to use hooks instead of orders. Like I said any constructive criticism would be great.
