Esuro was forged and crafted in the elven realm of Jinin. For a young and green samurai of the very minor Kousei clan. It was this young samurai that would raise his line up and begin Esuro's legacy. For when it came time for Esuro to be passed on to another of the Kousei line it would be only to the most worthy of their generation. So the tradition and belief that Esuro's wielder would be destined for greatness. For a dozen generations this held true as the Kousei line became one of the most powerful, wealthy, and influential clans of their time. This in turn brought about many rivals, which held less high and honorable standards. Through spreading lies, rumors, and schemes they sought to bring down the Kousei line. Still this only brought about the ruin of their rivals as they confronted the clan's sheer might. Yet restrained by honor and unable to strike at the corrupt officials of the government, they were exiled in time. Weakened and shamed they fled to Goka, the great city.

Their enemies, just as weakened but unwilling to accept half measures followed them. Making sure that the Kousei would not find help or honorable work despite their skills and abilities. Finally survival won out over honor and they turned to any means to keep from dying out. The once honorable samurai turned into thieves and thugs. Excelling in their shameful profession, those enemies that had plotted their downfall disappeared in the shadows that they quickly came to call home. For a dozen generations the Kousei haunted the dark places of Goka. Turning into a clan of ninja's and criminals that held a vice grip on Goka's underworld.

During this time Esuro was the symbol of office for the clan successor of the Kousei. No longer a weapon of honor or mercy, but rather one of death. Now only granted to the most powerful in their generation, the competition to be granted Esuro was often deadly if not openly fatal. So it remained until the lone generation, so called for the single surviving and claimer of Esuro. A young man who excelled at cunning and poison, he had no taste for leadership and the ways of Goka's underworld. After being bestowed Esuro he disappeared along with the Kousei's legacy.

Despite the clan's best efforts, he could not be found in Tian Xia. The day of his disappearance a string of fatal poisonings occurred. All the victims could not be cured, restored to life, or even contacted in death. Taking whatever knowledge they may or may not have had with them into the great beyond.
