'What the bloody blazes.' Stepping to the right, Vaunu, hears the noise, realizing that something is wrong, he jumps back. Grabbing hold of Belegaar's pant leg. He hisses, "Watch out, it's a trap."

Have you ever seen a half-orc fly? That day a few people were that lucky. As the ground gave way, Thandir leapt into the air, landing safely on the other side. By fate or fortune he even managed to land in a manner which said “I meant to do that.” He slowly rose to his feet, and with axe in hand, glared down the passage.

With Belegar almost directly behind him in walking, Vaunu is indeed forced to hold onto Belegar's leg.

"Wayang you cur a little mention earlier would be appreciated!" As the dwarf drops down into the pit you cannot help but be surprised at how calm he is and then slowly you see him drop landing on both of his feet with little effort.

At the bottom he looks about wondering what is down here?

Accepting Belegar's hand, Vaunu steps away from the pit. Then hearing Jurgan's voice, he turns and sticks his tongue out at the Wizard. "You play nice, or I'm not tossing you a rope."

Vaunu warily keeps an eye on the tunnel ahead, but doesn't see anything suspicious come towards them.

Once everyone is on the other side, this initial space is but 20ft by 30ft at best, hardly accomodating for a clan of kobolds. Yet something was appealing enough for them, a tunnel leads further ahead.

The tunnel splits to either hand side some 25ft further.
Which way are you headed? Likewise, perception rolls please.

Thandir looked at Jurgan expectantly, and when he got no response he whispered (albeit inattentionally far too loud) to Vaunu:

”I don’t think he understood. Should I explain it to him?”

Most of us avoided that pit while the one who did fell into it had no injuries from falling in. Truly the Kami have blessed us all!

Overhearing Thrandir's loud whisper, Uke whispers back, "Perhaps he is too busy looking for the kobolds to hear you?"

Since the pit event, attention to details seems to have risen within the party's ranks, and you notice a delicately placed trip wire on the floor, ahead of you.

Beyond that, the small cavern ahead is decorated with sacks and skins of dead animals. It looks like a crude storage room.

"Reprehensible kobolds they look to bore us to death with poorly placed traps! We should head left Im not here to find their chieftain in the storeroom, but wayang use those keen eyes of yours and see if there are any usable goods in there. Preferably something that will burn this repugnant place down."


'Burn this place down? Is he serious?' Giving Jurgan a curious look, ha answers. "I don't know a bloody thing about furs, why don't I deal with the trap and let you root through the dead carcasses?" He then gently moves forward and begins removing the trap wire, and it's components.

As Vaunu goes about removing the wire, he notices touching it would likely set off whatever trap is connected to it. Motioning the others to move back a bit, he steps over the wire, and tosses a nearby stone at the wire.

A set of crude spears suddenly protrude from the floor, angled to injure whoever or whatever would have set it off. It is childsplay to walk through them now.

"Crude but effective these little monsters are. No doubt about that. Alright have a look and see if there is anything useful. I'll stand here and make certain the little monsters have no chance of sneaking up on us... Plus who knows what other traps they laid in there."

Assuming the crew abides by their curious natureof exploring...

Searching the sacks, you find pieces of dried meat and pots filled with root pulp, but a large sack a bit separated from the others, holds a dead kobold!

Closer examination reveals a multitude of fine holes in its neck and arms.

Heal 15:

It matches with what Vaunu experienced earlier..... this kobold most likely met its end during - or after- and encounter with an infestator wolf.


Glaring at the dwarf while he inspects the bags, as he unceremoniously dumps the kobold out of the sack, he rolls it over with his foot. "Looks like our friend here tangles with something." He then finishes looking around the room.

Turning around, those with darkvision notice the tunnel going along at least 30ft or so, leading 'somewhere'. Along that way, there's two other places you could take a right turn.


"May as well get this over with." Going forward slowly and carefully, Vaunu moves to the next tunnel entrance and looks inside.

Vaunu peers around the corner, and can see what is between the orange lines.

He sees a bonfire with 2 kobolds near it, but given there is no clear sign of this being a dead end tunnel, he gets the feeling there is still space unseen down there.


He turns back to the group, first pointing to his eye, he points down the hallway and then hold up two fingers, he then sneaks further down the hall and carefully looks into the doorway on the left.

This time, Vaunu sees a large barracks like cavern. Crude bunks, and kobolds both awake and asleep. Unfortunately, he had set himself in a space without cover, and is in plain view of some kobolds standing watch, who suddenly see a wayang step into their tunnel.

Watching with disapproval at the fleeing wayang Jurgan sighs. He steps forward and readies a surprise for any enemy that attempts to flank the half orc.

Things happen very fast. As Vaunu heads through the tunnel towards the exit, Thandir heads into the tunnels instead.

Jurgan quietly stands where he is, quietly making arcane gestures in preparation.

Belegar isn't too sure, his inspiring song may echo, drawing more wanted attention. Instead he motions for Uke to move past him, and casts guidance on the samurai as he does.

Uke moves up to Thandir, ready to back the man up if needed.

Wholly unexpected, the kobold warrior jabs the spear firmly into Thandir's chest, twisting it while inside, before pulling back.

Red and purple get out of bed, groggily moving closer towards the conflict.

Orange moves closer, hurling a crude shortspear at Thandir.

I heard of this system where a double nat 20 = death. Good thing we don't play with those incorporated. ;)


'blast, so much for waiting in the dark to bushwhack one of them.' Seeing his companions move deeper into the mine, Vaunu backtracks, drawing his swords as he moves in front of Jurgan, hissing at the dwarf. "This don't mean I like you. I'm just hoping one of those buggers on the right will try something." waiting momentarily for one of the kobolds to come out into the hallway.

I will post a readied action in case any of them are dumb enough to run up behind Uke

The arcane missile fly eastward, circling around Thandir into the blue kobold. It is briefly wobbly on its feet before standing firmly again.

This time, Thandir places the blade of his axe between the spear's tip and his chest, blocking the attack.

No worry, Thandir, your feet are glued to the ground, but you're not knocked prone by a tanglefoot bag.

The tanglefoot bag glues Thandir's feet to the ground, but that does little to his attack. His axe hews into the kobold's shoulder and gets lodged when it's near the chest, before he pulls it back. The kobold is down.

Meanwhile, Vaunu gets up close to cyan kobold, and sashes him over the arm.

Draconic:

"Cave be kobold property, nobody else allowed in."

My bad, didn't look closely enough at the map so I thought it was all just open space there. :(

Letting Jurgan pass through to render some specialized aid to Thrandir, Uke will issue a challenge (in common) as a swift action to the cyan kobold fighting with Vaunu. "You, who tosses javelins at me, will never be worthy of dying by my katana; fall instead to one standing before you- he who is more than a match for your worthless stature!"

In exchange for -2 to Uke's AC (from 21 to 19) from all attacks other than the cyan kobold, Vaunu has a +2 bonus to hit on that very same cyan kobold.

As a free action, Uke then relinquishes his two handed grip on his katana in order to hold it in one hand. I'm not entirely sure but I had read somewhere that changing a grip from two hands to one hand on a single weapon is a free action (mostly in relation to magus spell combats for some strange reason); if it'll take a move instead, then I'll be fine with that as well.

As a move action, Uke then draws out his kunai with his other freed hand. If Uke still has a standard action left due to the free action, Uke will make an Aid Another (+3 to Vaunu's AC, if successful?) attack of AC 10 upon cyan kobold, otherwise Uke will wait until next round to Aid Another on the wayang burglar.

Aid Another with kunai: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 10 - 4 = 10. Made a base roll, not 100% sure what the exact penalty for firing into melee is but I went with -4.

You'd need to be within melee range, to aid other in melee, afaik.

My bad, in that case, Uke will sheath his katana instead with his remaining actions of move and/or standard on the off-chance of pulling off an iajutsu strike. Probably during the next round, he'll try for a total defense with his gauntlets if there's still no room for maneuvering past.

Another possibility for the next round would be to try and bull rush or overrun a kobold? Not sure of the feasibility of either methods. May end up using the hypnotic gaze or spit venom instead though.

I moved the triangle a bit, so the path nearby is clearer.
There isn't opportunity to bullrush in these confined spaces, but it will allow you to move closer.

Jurgan moves past the samurai towards Thandir, hammer in hand, a wand of menacing trickery in the other.
Uke sheathes his katana, and steps closer to next to Vaunu.

Belegar moves closer to form a somewhat Tetrist-like formation.

Orange bravely draws a spear and steps closer to Thandir.
Spear thrust: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 1d6 ⇒ 6
It comes close, but not close enough, to hurt Thandir again with a spear thrust. That wound is nasty as it is already.

Red pulls a pouch and tosses it towards Thandir.
Rt, cover: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 6 - 4 = 8, but... wua wua wuaaaaaahh…. it misses target, and it splatters on the nearby floor.

Purple chuckles.
Thandir, willsave DC 15 please.

Kobolds south
Both kobolds grab for spears and stab at Vaunu.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 1d6 ⇒ 4

The green one stabs Vaunu, but for a wimpy 1 dmg in his arm.

Flinching as the kobold on the right slashes his arm, Vaunu looks at it snarling in Draconinc "Your next. He then slashes at the first kobold, first with the mitheral sword then the cold iron one.

if the first kills Cyan, he will 5 ft step and strike green
Attack: + 1 mitheral shortsword, cold iron sword/twf, ds
attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 = 27 for damage: 1d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

Woe be the dicegods, if the storyteller has to bot for the team. :)

Vaunu slashs at the kobold with finesse most excellent, hitting the kobold for 19. The scaled little bugger still stands upright, to Vaunu's annoyance.

Will Thandir: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 Partially pass.

Jurgan uses his wand on the orange kobold's spear.
Ref vs wand grease, DC 11: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Though the spear becomes slippery, the kobold manages to keep hold of it.

Thandir swings his axe at the kobold.
Butchering axe: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Butchering axe: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Dmg: 3d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 6, 6) + 12 = 30
The damage output would most certainly have put the kobold into the same catatonic state as the blue one had ended up in, but the kobold dodges the axe at the last second.

Belegar casts guidance on Uke, who steps near to cyan. May want to hold on to hypnotic stare just yet.
Katana vs Cyan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 Dmg, 2-H: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
The strike is easily dodged by the small sized opponent.

What's this.... Thandir knows such an attack would have otherwise missed, yet it hits him anyway, stabbing his right leg.

Red is searching his little bag for something, stepping out of sight.
Purple mutters something in draconic again.
Will Thandir, DC 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 Too bad.
The kobold chuckles and eyes the intruders with glee, before stepping back north.

Kobolds south
Both kobolds try hitting Vaunu with their spears.
Cyan (-19) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 1d6 ⇒ 5
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 1d6 ⇒ 3, and both of them fail to hit Vaunu, who does a quick double dodge in rapid movement.
