Background:

Acting in the mysterious interests of the unseen spirits that he calls "kamis", Uke wanders afar to spread their influence.

Uke is very open to listening for what these "kami" spirits need and want. The other, local non-kami spirits in the area may not necessarily find his actions agreeable since he could potentially be doing the spiritual equivalent of planting an invasive species in a closed ecosystem (ie. Kudzus!)... not that Uke would care all that much, since those spirits are clearly oni-influenced.

As an outsider answering a call for aid, our prospective scaled hypnotizing, venom-spitting wanderer would've probably heard of the recent goings-on while traveling through (for reasons known only to himself... maybe those kamis want him to scout out new homes?) and he decided that if something were to be done about it, scaly weapon-wielding hands were needed.

Even as a practitioner of Tamashigo, Uke still has fond memories of his homeland of Nagajor and of his kind regards to the Nagas- better known to him as honored Mothers. The Naga Goddess herself is known as the Great Mother because calling the Goddess "Grandmother" is rather ill-advised (it's like calling someone a rat due to its' association with the elderly Rat Goddess!) plus really it crimps her style when she's spending some quality time with her Kitsune Goddess S.O.
