The cashier collects the coins and lets you pass. The interior of the Bloodworks is very similar to its exterior, with panels of hide-wrapped wood forming a dusty fighting pit in the building's center. Roughly built bleachers wrap three quarters of the way around the perimeter, and the northern end is dominated by a keep of earth, stone, and wood with steeply slanted sides and two sweeping sets of stairs that descend to the arena's floor like a pair of insect mandibles. Between the stairs is a massive set of wooden double doors large enough to accommodate a pair of mammoths. A few rows of seats sit further up the side of the keep, and immediately behind them rests a large throne crafted from the bones of nearly every creature to walk the Cinderlands.

The Bloodworks produces a cacophonous torrent of noise - screams of pain, peals of delight, and the clash of weapons - during an event. When you arrive, the main bout is to be between a large ettin and a team of human gladiators. The ettin wastes no time in crushing most of its opposition before cruelly toying with the remaining pair of combatants, to the amusement of the audience.

As you guys try to approach Ploog, a group of well armed Orcs with clubs with nails embedded in them stop you guys from closing the final gap. Your announcements are drowned out by the din of the crowd as the Ettin pops the head of one of the humans like an overripe melon.

The largest of the Orc guards mutters to you in broken common, "You no approach Ploog! He watch games now, after fight you talk to him. Maybe. Coin feels light," he jingles his coin pouch -- which looks quite full -- to emphasize his point then looks at you with a toothy grin, slobber dripping from his mouth, splattering on Peck's fine shoes.

He puts his hamfist out, "You wait till fight over," looking over to see the Ettin splattering the last remains of the human fighter he'll chuckle at the gore, "That ettin good fighter, okay now you go meet Ploog, he in his study room,"

Strolling into Ploog’s office you guys notice it is an uncommonly well-built, domed structure of leather, wood, and an irregular assortment of stone blocks that occupies the back half of the keep. At its highest, the ceiling rises twenty feet, and several windows cut into the leather walls allow a refreshing breeze to ventilate the room. A pile of large rocks sits beneath one of these windows, and several nearby potted trees lean toward the light. On the opposite end of the room are several chairs and a divan upholstered in tanned leather. In the room’s center stands a desk covered in sheets of parchment and stacks of coins whose irregular sizes and shapes betray origins in at least a dozen nations, and a pair of decoratively crossed swords hang on the desk’s front.

Ploog is a slightly rotund but entirely muscular orc who wears crimson and = silver robes and a feathered cap. He is currently counting his coin, which is stacked quite high on his desk, Growling up at you guys, "Who are you and what do you want?"

Ploog listens, ”Yes well of course only get me the best Bulette, I wouldn’t stand for anything less, fine you may have 2 days to fetch me a prime Burette,” He reaches into his desk and pulls out a huge hourglass and flips it upside down, starting the incredibly slow trickle of sand. ”Best get to it, times a running out,”

Tracking a Bulette takes you guys into the Cinderlands, a dangerous environment thanks to its precarious position near a tectonic fault line and the many volcanic vents that proliferate the region.

Survival checks can speed things up, I’ll roll the time it takes you guys to find a good Burette hunting spot after any survival checks are rolled.

Kn: Arcana or Survival 12+:
This creature is commonly called the landshark because its fin often cuts a distinctive wake behind it like that of a shark. It burrows rapidly, and it can launch itself from the soil. Its tunnels are often referred to as “shark holes.”

Kn: Arcana or Survival 17+:
The foul-tempered creature attacks prey much larger than it, and there is usually little left of its meal, as it consumes bone and even armor and weapons. The bulette’s preferred tactic is to charge, launch itself in the air, and then land on prey, attacking with all four razor-sharp claws extended.

Kn: Arcana or Survival 22+:
The creature is generally nocturnal and sleeps in craters called “drifts” during the warmest parts of the day. It is most often found alone or with a mate.

Kn: Arcana or Survival 27+:
Bulettes hunt an area in a circuitous pattern, keeping crater-like drifts in different areas to rest along their routes. By checking the creature’s scat at the drift’s bottom, you can tell how quickly the creature will return. Fresh droppings indicate the creature may still be in the area; very dry droppings indicate it may be returning soon from its circuit. However, scat that is dry on the outside but moist within indicates the creature may not return for some time.

As the party heads out, lead by Darro and her wolf Blackthorn with the help of Kazzok and his keen understanding of Bulette traveling habits, it doesn't take nearly as often as it would for a less experienced party.

The Dangers of the Cinderlands: 6d10 ⇒ (4, 9, 4, 3, 1, 2) = 23 balls

You're first hour combing the Cinderlands are soon met with the fabled "Saranrae's Tresses" which quickly whips up into a sustained gust of wind carrying hairlike strands of glass fibers strikes the area, ripping apart anything along the wind’s path. You guys suffer the effects of a windstorm and take 2d6 points of piercing damage per round for 1d6 rounds, after which the windstorm continues for the rest of the hour.

The next hour passes by uneventfully more windstorms batter you and you find a few “craters” indicating a Bulette was nearby but the trails are fresh, you’re confident a Bulette and a large one at that is close.

As you guys continue another hour wandering the cinderlands chasing the Bulette's trail hot on its trail, another windstorm begins picking up. A soft ringing picks up shortly thereafter and soon the whipping hair-like grass is bike, driving its needle-like points into the party, however better prepared you guys are able to shield yourselves from much of the harm. Significantly reducing the damage. That's just my way of reasoning the difference in damage.

Darro and Blackthrown lose their way for a bit after that last windstorm just in time to realize you guys have wandered into a small depression with small conical mounds on all sides of you guys, they look like giant anthills. As you continue along, all of a sudden a number of the hills explode, expelling out gloopy globules of molten glass hundreds of feet into the air, a number land right on top of the party!

For the last two hours of your guys' journey, another windstorm can be seen picking up in the distance, red and angry, carrying with it lightning bolts.

Darro and Kazzok think they can steer clear of the storms, avoiding the worst of it.

With Kazzok, Darro and Blackthorn leading you guys are able to cut straight through the storm, avoiding the worst of the Ember storms.

And just when they thought they were clear, another storm is visible rolling iin, now caught between two storms. Kazzok, Darro and Blackthorn try again to lead the group another storm.

Blackthorn jumps into the lead, taking charge of navigating the party through this second storm however, its much fiercer than the previous storm.

You guys have some time to heal up/buff up (not like minute/level or round/level spells but like 10 min/level spells and hour/level spells for buffs) between completing your exhausting journey through the Cinderlands and experiencing the Bulette

with no heavy melee type it appears that Blackthorn (Darro's companion) will be leading the charge in combat. He should be good with AC 28, HP 83. Just leave enough space for him to fight since he is a large wolf.

Alright, thanks! So I am retraining Derviche Dance to Slashing Grace, which will cost me 5 PP and 350 gp. I am also retraining my ranks in Perform:Dance and Spellcraft to ranks in Knowledge:History (2 ranks) and Linguistics (2 ranks), allowing me to learn Dwarven and Thassilonian. This too will cost 5 PP and 350 gp.

I have not seen any recent posts from the GM under any threads/aliases. I hope everything is ok. We may need assistance to finish.

Unfortunately, I have 3-4 games where GM posting rates are down to once a week. So it is hard to say if we are just slowed down to that cycle or really are missing the GM.

Thank you very much for your patience! Several weeks ago my partner decided to continue his life without me. For me it was a surprise, after 16 years of relationship. While I was busy looking for a new place to live the workload at work got more and more (the bank is changing the treasury apps completely, moving to a new vendor) and my mother opens her own shop on Monday and wanted me to help with ordering stuff, making a website, creating advertising, business cards, preparing the shop etc.

As you can imagin I'm tired, done and completely frustrated. I've not been in the mood to open the Paizo page and reading messages of upset GMs/players "shouting" at me or demanding immediate upates so I did not open this page for a long time now.

I'm really sorry that I put you into this situation, but to make sure: it does not have anything to do with you or your gaming style. It was just that a lot of things hit me at the same time. I'm currently working through the games to update everything.

I had asked a different GM check earlier as he finished another game for us. He did not want to take this one since GM Baerlie had just posted and we did not know if we were back on track. But it seems like Baerlie could use the extra time.

So Hakaam if you want to ask again for this one, hopefully they can help us along.
