Remember you can use anything you find during the adventure without cost; it won't impact your chronicle.
Also remember that you can use a scroll if it's on your spell list, even if you don't know that spell (if I remember correctly).
So we can use all that stuff.
And if no one objects I'll use the ring for now.

This room is difficult terrain right...can I take a 5 ft step then or would that generate an AoO.

Yes, this room is difficult terrain. No, you cannot take a 5' step.

My apologies for not posting. The holidays have been very hectic and I had minor surgery that I'm currently recovering from. As we head into the New Year, my schedule will get back to normal and the regular postings will resume. I'll try to get a post out tomorrow. Sorry for the delays.

So generally Summon Monster is a full-round cast, yes, but using it from a wand is a standard action as wands are spell trigger only.

Male Gnome Bard 16, Storyteller (aka DM)

@Orovan:

Wands: Wands use the spell trigger activation method, so casting a spell from a wand is usually a standard action that doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity. (If the spell being cast has a longer casting time than 1 action, however, it takes that long to cast the spell from a wand.) To activate a wand, a character must hold it in hand (or whatever passes for a hand, for non-humanoid creatures) and point it in the general direction of the target or area. A wand may be used while grappling or while swallowed whole.

The spell will go off during your turn next Round with use of your Move Action next round. Move Action: Draw Wand. Standard Action: Activate Wand (Full Round Action Casting Time)

Well I'll be. You win this one Hovok.
The way it was explained to me is that trigger items had the spell "pre-cast" and you just had to kinda get it out, while spell completion items had to be fully cast from the item.
I guess I was told wrong.

Cut'n'paste for all my games.

Thursday, 18 July, in the wee hours of the morning, I get on an airplane and leave for the international Boy Scout World Jamboree. I'll be 1 of the roughly 120 people working on JUST the archery ranges, helping the attendees have some fun.

I will have only my phone for electronic access, but AT&T has wired the dickens out of the facility, and a signal should never be my problem. Power on the other hand . . .. There will be a limited number of places to plug things in (compared to the tens of thousands of attendees) and no safe place to plug something in and walk away from it, which means time spent charging is time spent NOT doing any of the things people are there to do.

I am going to try to check in and cover anything I should cover, but I don't know for sure how well it is going to go.

I won't be home again until 3 August.

Actually, part of the reason I've been less responsive the past little bit is I've been getting ready to go. Still have a lot to do, honestly.

If you need to bot me to keep the story moving, BOT ME.

Male Gnome Bard 16, Storyteller (aka DM)

No worries, Jafit.

I'm going to be out of town, most likely out of any cell phone range from this Saturday (July 20th) to the following Saturday (July 27th). Hopefully we'll wrap this floor up soon. We can get started with the next floor after you get back from your trip. If you have a day job you can roll that now if you wish.

Enjoy your trip.

Male Gnome Bard 16, Storyteller (aka DM)

This is the end of the water level. Congratulations, you made it. I will post your findings in the last room tomorrow. Feel free to roll day jobs and let me know if you're wanting to continue the journey into the spire (no more flooded levels, I promise).

I will be leaving for vacation Saturday, July 20th and will not be back until Sunday, July 28th. I will have little to no reception, so I will get chronicles sometime around August 1st and we'll resume shortly after that.

This is another recommended Slow Progression chronicle. If you do not want Slow Progression, let me know. The next floor of the spire is for Levels 4 to 6.

If you take Slow Progression the Chronicle will net you the following:

1.5 XP
2 Prestige
2400 Gold

(Double those numbers for Full Progression)

Touch of Planar Waters Boon:
Your experience with the many portals into the elemental Plane of Water in The Drowned Level have given you insight into the mysteries of the primordial plane and its inhabitants. Just being around the portals, a small amount of the plane’s magical essence has imbedded itself inside you, which manifests when you are near water. As a swift action, you may use this boon to receive the benefits of touch of the sea (CL 6th). When you use this boon, cross it off this Chronicle sheet.

I will have chronicles for you after my vacation and we'll start Level 6: The Clockwork Maze on Monday, August 5th.

Again, please confirm you are continuing the adventure. If everyone is continuing we can either keep the party at 5 or find a replacement for Voldarus.

I think I'll take full progression.
Question though: will that level me out of finishing Emerald Spire with Orovan? If so I have some level 5s I can swap in for a shot to spread around the XP a little.

I don't think we especially need a replacement but I wouldn't mind one either.

Let me know if that is correct above.

I have a new addition to the group that will be starting on the next floor of the spire for a total of 5 PCs.

Here is the Level breakdown for the rest of the spire:

Each Floor by Level:

Floor 6: The Clockwork Maze (for Levels 4–6)
Floor 7: Shrine of the Awakener (for Levels 5–7)
Floor 8: The Circle of Vissk-Thar (for Levels 6–8)
Floor 9: The Spire Axis (for Levels 7–9)
Floor 10: The Magma Vault (for Levels 8–10)*
Floor 11: The Tomb of Yarrix (for Levels 8–10)*
Floor 12: The Automaton Forge (for Levels 9–11)*
Floor 13: The Pleasure Gardens (for Levels 9–11)*
Floor 14: The Throne of Azlant (for Levels 10–12)*
Floor 15: Order and Chaos (for Levels 10–12)*
Floor 16: The Emerald Root (for Levels 11–13)

(*) indicates Floors PCs are recommended playing at Slow Progression.

We'll probably get started around August 12th. This will also be part of Gameday VIII

"Life is what happens while you are making other plans."

On my arrival day at the World Scout Jamboree, I got caught in a DELUGE of rain. My phone refused to charge because of water detected in the charging port. It has been drained of power sitting in a ziploc bag of rice for a couple of weeks, and STILL reports water in the charging port.

I'll find out later how bad off my phone really is. It can charge through induction, at the worst. Just didn't have any induction chargers at the Jamboree!

Posting this to my games, and I will come back later today and try ot catch up through them.

Thank you for your understanding!

Oh, and the group of 16 staffers (including me) running the 30-target 10m static archery range had people step up to the Shooting Line and throw arrows downrange almost 10,000 times (for 50,000 arrows), including 1 blind archer, 1 wheel-chair bound archer that we held up so she could hoot standing like everyone else, and 1 one-armed archer.

12th char level for 15th Spire level w/ Half produces 13th char level

Hey. I have surgery in the morning. Pretty minor, but it IS surgery. Outpatient, with a normal "don't work" period of 2 days, and a "no exertion" period of like 6 weeks.

I should be giving all my games another pass this evening, but I make no promises for the next day or two.

What is it? An umbilical hernia repair. Surgeon says I have multiple hernias right there together. All I know for sure is the general practitioner who referred em to the surgeon had it right when he said it looks like I'm going to give birth to a Titleist.

Silver Crusade

M Ifrit Oracle (Life) 5

Was at the hospital from about 0730 till about 1615. Home. reasonably awake, and medicated. The entire area over the hernia and belly button is under s bandage I'm not supposed to touch until Saturday, so all I know is I have some ugly looking injuries from where the laparoscopic entry points were on my left side. Not as limited in my movements this morning as I thought I would be, which is good. Abdominal muscles are a little tight, though. Don't think I can blame them. I figured they would be a LOT more mad than they seem to be.
