I currently have a UMD of +8, when that gets a little bit higher I'll be able to use a Cure Wands without failure which will help with healing.

I'll have him fully complete when I get home from work

Boy Scout Troop meeting tonight. I need to change and leave within the hour. Guess we'll see how much I can get done after the meeting tonight.
I'm thinking about building the crowd-pleasing cheese of a Life Oracle. That should fill the heal-bot hole nicely, while still giving me plenty to have fun with.

So after hemming and hawing all day, I finally decided on going Bard, specifically a half-orc one, just to change things up. Glad to hear we'll have some time to tweak the characters a bit, as my biggest hold up was trying to settle on how to make him lol. Tweaking him now, then will post here again as him
Jafit |
Player: hustonj
Character: Jafit (that's all for now, WAY early in character creation)
PFS: 15864-8
Faction: Silver Crusade
Ifrit Oracle, Life Mystery, Blackened Curse
Lot of work ahead of me getting Jafit right, I think. But I like the feel so far, so I think I can have fun with this . . ..
Jafit |
Background/Personality/Description left to do, but I should be going to bed.
I liked the Ifrit Life Oracle combo because it speaks to the whole passion about life thing: stoking the fires within, letting your passion shine through, etc. It just seems an obvious match to me.
The voice "problem" is how aggressively to put that out there.

So, ah, funny thing. Shortly after signing up here, I found out that the group I met at a convention over the weekend is actually going to be running this game in-person and I've been invited. Terribly sorry, as I was really excited to run this from start to end with you guys, but unless I'm mistaken, I can't run with you guys and my new in-person table, plus playing in the same campaign in 2 locations at the same time just feels like a headache waiting to happen.
It's a shame, as I was really excited for my first play-by-post game, but unless I'm mistaken, I need to bow out =[

No worries. Good luck and have fun.
I'll tap the waitlist.
Bolvurn Crowsteel |
Player: John Stout
Character: Bolvurn Crowsteel
PFS: 13969-10
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Bolvurn is a Bolt Ace Gunslinger. He'll mostly be a damage dealer, however he does have a handful of relevant skills. Looking forward to the game!

Made a couple changes. Got rid of quick draw and added improved initiative. And I bought a dagger to put in my belt.

This is a pre-typed message I created for this situation to allow me to copy/paste the message to all the games I am taking part in.
I suffer from Chronic Pancreatitis that on average every 6 months turns into Acute Pancreatitis. The Acute version requires me to be hospitalized between 3 to 5 days on average if it is severe enough. Unfortunately, my local hospital has Piazo's website blocked for some reason. So during this time I will not be able to post anything.
I'm posting this message because I can feel the pain that begins the Acute stage and will be going to the ER. If it is not severe enough to require hospitalization then I will make a post as soon as possible to state things are all clear. If that post doesn't happen within 12 hours, then it means I am in the hospital.
If need be, feel free to bot my character during combat or if any skill rolls that would really help the group.
Sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.
Lucifer Belthrue |
Good news. My pancreatic enzyme count was higher than it should be but not high enough to hospitalize me. So they just prescribed me some oxycodone and sent me home.
Voldarus |
That is good, sorry to hear you've got to go through that, but at least this time wasn't so bad.
Lucifer Belthrue |
Just out of curiosity, how many levels are there for Emerald Spire? And since this is a PFS game, do we get Chronicles (XP and stuff) each level or something like that?
Voldarus |
I had a similar question reguarding the first level retraining that PFS allows. I should have taken point blank shot. Let's be real if I don't have point blank shot I cant get rapid shot until 5th level. Can I retrain improved initiative to point blank shot at some point, maybe when I level up or something. I like the idea of beying a 2-handed ranger but Hovok has that pretty much covered, like skullcrushingly well.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
@Lucifer: The Emerald Spire is 16 floors. It will carry your character to 13th or 14th Level. You get a chronicle after each floor as a normal 3 XP 4 Prestige module. There are some floors to play at slow progression so you don't level out of the dungeon. I'll let you know when those come.
@Voldarus: At the end of this session, since you have a first level character, you can retrain for free. After you play your character at second level (or higher) there are other rules and costs for retraining.
Hovok Thunderforge |
@Voldarus thanks and to be honest my biggest concern is probably my AC with this guy makes it easy when they cant survive a hit but going toe-to-toe still worries me a little until I can get some of the heavy armor.
@Gimble are we going to try to replace the bolt ace between levels you think since I haven't seen any posts from him for a while or did he say anything to you.
Voldarus |
@Everyone, how are you pronouncing your names? I know on pbp it doesn't really matter if I'm mispronouncing it behind my computer, I don't know maybe it's silly but I'd like to know what y'all were going for. Mine's Vole-dar-us.
Lucifer Belthrue |
Lu-see-fur (Just like the Christian Devil)
Bell-through
Lucifer Belthrue |
The different pronunciations is probably due to regional dialect.
Voldarus |
Haha, awesome. This is why I asked. I was pronouncing it LOU-suh-fur too. But no when I say it in my head I'll say it right.
Hovok Thunderforge |
To be honest still debating how I want to pronounce this guy's name...course still trying to figure out how I want to play him to some extent also.
Kinda waffling between silent H lately, or even changing it to Havok instead cause seem to be saying it that way alot more in my own head.
Voldarus |
@Hovok your name was the real reason I asked, though I was. Pleasntly suprised to learn Lucifer's pronunciation both first and last. Ive been saying yours with a short o like Haw-vik but wasn't sure sure maybe haw-vok, or the traditional havoc. The silent H is a cool idea.
I like the group, too often in PFS I feel likenits so roll play and not role play. If I'm being truthful I'm more of a roll player myself, but I'm trying to get more into role. Plus if we are in this for the long haul we may as well not make it all. About dungeon crawling. Less that's what y'alld rather do.
Hovok Thunderforge |
To be honest wasn't even thinking about doing the silent H when I made him but noticed myself sometimes doing that after combat and thinking that maybe part of his personality going forward. Where when he gets a little excited his drawl comes out mainly leaving off the H(s) but still learning the character.
Along with this only been doing this for about 3 months now so trying to find the right mix of role/roll play though it helps if you get in a group that can prompt some of the situations.
@Gimble will probably change the name after this to Havok...Course I may not be able to change this alias (damn may have to do some experimenting).
Gimble, The Storyteller |
We are just about finished with the Tower Ruins. I have the following information from everyone (double-check to make sure it is correct).
Lucifer Belthrue, 138079-6, Dark Archive
Neilman: Need character number and Faction
Voldarus, 209837-4, Dark Archive
Hovok Thunderforge, 272384-2, Liberty's Edge
Jafit, 15864-8, Silver Crusade
Please roll day job checks if applicable.
Confirm you want to continue the adventure.
Just an FYI - Chronicle will give you 3 XP, 4 Prestige, 1398 gp. I'll get them out as soon as everyone responds back. We'll begin Level 2 after everyone levels their character and is ready to continue.
I'll also look for a 6th to continue the adventure to replace Bolvurn.
Lucifer Belthrue |
My information is correct. No Day Job. And I will be continuing. Most definitely want to do the entire Emerald Spire.
Hovok Thunderforge |
Agreed with Lucifer as far as wanting to continue the spire and guess day job roll here then.
Day Job (Smith): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Going general smith though to be honest planning on moving towards weaponsmith at some point.

A question. Will we be able to purchase things in-between Chronicles?
Voldarus |
I have a question about purchasing. Sense we are doing this PFS style that means the essentially anything that we found at the end is null correct, like we get X amount of money and we can spend it on whatever is always available + anything on the chronicle sheets. How do magic items like a +1 bow work. Say I buy a masterwork bow now, can I add +'s to it later? Or enchantments? I've done some PFS but I've never gotten far enough for that question to be relevant.
Also about Hovok's action economy question, correctly me if I'm wrong but I believe that the 5 foot step is in place of the move action, so he would be unable to draw his shield because you can't take a 5 foot step and a move action. the 5 foot step just allows you to avoid AOO's and take full round actions.

Purchasing: What you find during the adventure can be used until that level of the spire is finished (to the point you get a chronicle sheet). After that you may purchase items as normal per the gold you have obtained through chronicles, fame acquired, and items on the chronicle sheet. There are some things that can be upgraded, like a masterwork bow to +1, etc. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask as they come up.
Hovok's action: He took a 5' step (free action) which he can only take if he doesn't MOVE any further than the 5 feet. It does not prevent him from taking move actions not related to movement, such as readying a shield, drawing a weapon, standing up, etc.
