@Scrabbler a wonderful voice for the back story, he is not terribly integrated with Trunau, but that is appropriate and it makes sense for him to be committed to it - I feel bad for the little guy! I have not gone through that build and unpicked it as yet, but I see nothing that jumps out as alarming given we are shooting for moderately high powered.

RelicBlackOUT |

I am extremely interested in this. What more does a game against Giants need more than a halfling Cavalier? I will be making up the character tonight when I get back from church. This seems like great fun!
Thinking Beast Rider Cavalier, order of the sword. Possibly going with Giant Scion or Dwarf Trained trait for the campaign trait.

ScegfOd |

@ScegfOd I am afraid trapfinder is out its a Campaign trait for another campaign, and you need to have 5 ranks in a skill for Signature Skill. I would allow an eidolon to take additional traits, but they would need to make sense for an eidolon, I am little wary of the idea so please throw any you are thinking about to me and I will give a quick yay or neigh - mostly if the flavor can be made to fit an eidolon without too much work they should be okay.
Fair enough. I really just wanted my Eidolon to be able to disarm magical traps xD
Well, depending on how many traps there are, maybe I'll just use summoned horses to disarm magical traps with their long faces...Also, I think I've decided to be less criminal-ish and more artifact-hunter-ish after looking at a bunch of different traits and the (unchained) summoner's skill list xD
I still can't decide where to be from, though.
Think the Fangwood would be a good place for an elf to come from?
Edit: Or maybe Kaer Maga? They seem to have a lot of strange things moving through (though probably not proper artifacts)

Robert Henry |

Hey GM Placeholder of Doom! I've got the crunch done on my brawler. But the more I work on his backstory, the more he sounds like Billy from ‘Where the Red Fern Grows’ instead of ‘Dar the Beastmaster.’ The fluff just isn't coming together for me. I'm going withdraw myself from the recruitment. Thanks for running the game and good luck everyone.

Xada Nivrublox |

Hey GM, RelicBlackOUT here.
This is my Halfling Cavalier Order of the Sword. I am still typing up my background and still deciding on a mount.
I will have more to come, this is all I was able to get done this morning. Let me know what you think so far.

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@Robert Henry, sorry to hear that, but I have certainly been there, and thanks :)
@ScegfOd I get it, but traits that are clearly better than most feats are not something I am tempted to allow without qualification. Summons are a viable way to handle traps, and you can usually find some work around even without that. I do not think you mentioned what race you planned to be, but the players guide is a good place to look for information about where you might be from, etc.

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@Xada Nivrublox, Trunau does not have any nobles so that is probably not an ideal motivation. Otherwise it looks like a good base to work from. Maybe you could be striving to be a knight because of someone you admire, a figure from Pathfinder Chronicles, a relative, or some famed warrior? Nobody is really going to hire you so you need to come up with something to root yourself in Trunau and make you want to protect the stubborn border folk that make up the town.

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@Ivan "The Mountain" Ironbrow could you please split your background into paragraphs, it is difficult to read a big wall of text like that - gives me a headache. Ivan really needs more grounding in Trunau, I think an Ivan who has been town for 6 plus months maybe unable to find further leads about his mother and having to make a living and make contacts and friends in town would be much more appealing as a GM.

Ivan "The Mountain" Ironbrow |

@ GM, sorry, I copied and pasted it from word and It seems the paragraphing didn't hold? odd.
as for the Contact with Trunau, if I may ask, why does one need deep(ish) connections with the town? Is it something for your specific run through? I noticed that the players guide stated you didn't need to have deep connections so I am curious. It may also help with me forming some connections.

Daseem |

The avatar isn't quite right, but here's my warpriest. There are several literary influences, one is (probably) obvious. The other less so (Bremer dan Gorst).
Currently I'm imagining Daseem having recently arrived at Trunau, although I could easily add another paragraph if more integration is preferred.
Edit: Here's a gameplay post. And here's another I enjoyed writing.

ScegfOd |

Get well soon!
I've decided that Kaer Maga will be a good place for an Elf Summoner/Artifact hunter to come from xD
edit:
I'll just roll for age, height, and weight here xD
Age (in years): 110 + 6d6 ⇒ 110 + (1, 1, 1, 5, 5, 6) = 129 years
Height (in inches): 64 + 2d8 ⇒ 64 + (3, 5) = 72 = 6'
Weight: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 8) = 11x3 + 110 = 143lbs

This is friendly sauce finally submitting my character.
May I present Edgar Bronson, free spirited traveler returned home to Trunau after nearly a decade of absence.
EDIT: this is in no way the halfling sniper I talked about; instead a human unchained summoner who worships Desna is haunted by the ghost of his past that takes the form of his eidelon. I’m hoping to be able to make an effective tag team of ranged and melee with the two of them.

Presenting Bupkis: a goblin aether kineticist.
I realize that submitting a goblin occult class character limits my chances, but I've been looking for a chance to play this concept.
"Kineticists are living channels for elemental matter and energy, manipulating the world around them by drawing upon inner reserves from their own bodies." They have an all-day power called a kinetic blast, and get powers related to their element as the level up. They can give their powers and extra boost though a mechanic called Burn: non-lethal damage that can't be healed until they have a full rest.
The aether kineticist is less damage oriented that those of other elements, and has more out of combat utility. It's oriented around telekinetic powers, and can eventually manipulate objects at a distance. One of their signature abilities is Telekinetic Haul, which allows them to lift heavy weights with telekinesis. Picture a little green guy with big ears lifting a very heavy object with the power of his mind (high level example).
I have been playing PBP for just over a year (I have played in face-to-face games for a lot longer). I can keep up with your planned posting rate, as demonstrated by my play in DM Brainiac's Ironfang Invasion Table1. We have advanced from 1st to 8th lvl in a year of play, with over 750 total posts on my part.

Special Abilities

Basic Telekinesis(Su)
Element(s) aether Type utility(Sp) Level 1 Burn 0
This ability is similar to mage hand, except you can move an object that weighs up to 5 pounds per 2 kineticist levels you possess (minimum 5 pounds), and you can move magical objects. Additionally, you can create a container of entwined strands of aether in order to hold liquids or piles of small objects of the same weight. You can dip the container to pick up or drop a liquid as a move action. If you possess the extended range wild talent, you can increase the range of basic telekinesis to medium range and increase the rate of movement to 30 feet per round, and if you possess the extreme range wild talent, You can increase the range of basic telekinesis to long range and increase the rate of movement to 60 feet per round. You can also use your basic telekinesis to duplicate the effects of the open/close cantrip.
Gather Power As a move action, reduce burn cost of blast wild talent by 1
As a full-round action, reduce burn cost of blast wild talent by 2
As a full-round action + move action next turn, reduce burn cost of blast wild talent by 3
Telekinetic Blast
Element(s) aether Type Simple Blast (Sp) Level - Burn 0
Blast Type: physical Damage bludgeoning, piercing or slashing
You throw a nearby unattended object at a single foe as a ranged attack. The object must weigh no more than 5 pounds per kineticist level you possess. If the attack hits, the target and the thrown object each take the blast’s damage. Since the object is enfolded in strands of aether, even if you use this power on a magic weapon or other unusual object, the attack doesn’t use any of the magic weapon’s bonuses or effects; it simply deals your blast damage. Alternatively, you can loosen the strands of aether in order to deal damage to both the object and the target as though you had thrown the object yourself (instead of dealing your normal blast damage).
You substitute your Constitution modifier for your Strength modifier if throwing the object would have added your Strength modifier on the damage roll, and you don’t take the –4 penalty on the attack roll for throwing an object that wasn’t designed to be thrown. In this case, the object’s special effects apply (including effects from its materials), and if the object is a weapon, you must be proficient with it and able to wield it with one hand; otherwise, the item deals damage as a one-handed improvised weapon for a creature of your size.
Roll with it Once/day, negate critical from giant subtype (weapon or slam attack only). Must not be denied Dex to AC.
Without the safety of the tribe, he made his way to human settlements, where he could scavenge for food, and count on the Longshanks to keep predators and orcs at bay. He eventually ended up at Trunau, which seemed to offer the best protection. He would sneak in, and use his telekinetic powers to cause loaves of bread or scraps of meat to float through the air towards his hiding spot.
One day, Bupkis saw a young human girl playing outside, with no adult nearby. He had been so very lonely for so long; maybe he could make her laugh. He came out of his hiding spot, careful not to get to close, lest he scare her away. She just stared at the funny looking creature with big ears. Bupkis picked up a stick using his mental powers, and launched at his own head, falling down in an exaggerated, comic fashion. The little girl smiled, so he did it again. The girl's mother came out of the house to see what her daughter was doing, so Bupkis had to retreat and hide again.
Seasons passed, years passed, and the girl grew older. Bupkis saw the girl every now and then, and made her laugh with his antics. He lived for those moments; they made his loneliness more bearable. He learned that her name was Alicia. He learned to speak common, and talked to her; Alicia was the only friend he'd ever had.
Alicia's family were merchants. On market days they tended their stall at the Barter Stones. One fall market day, a raiding band of orcs came to grab what plunder they could, before the town Defenders could respond. Bupkis was nearby; he never missed market days, because he could see his friend.
That day the lookout was lax, and the raiders got quite close to the market, before they were spotted. Traders and townsfolk ran in panic as the alarm was sounded, and orcs ran through the stalls. Bupkis was filled with fear for Alicia's safety; he had to do something! Hiding behind a vegetable stand, he picked up a rock with his mind, and launched it at the nearest orc. The villain was closing in on a woman just a few steps behind Alicia, when the rock slammed into its shoulder. Surprised and angry, the orc turned and chased him. He dodged out of the way, scrambling through the maze of tables, and threw another rock at it. The commotion confused the other orcs, and delayed them long enough for the a group of guards, led by Patrol Captain Rodrik Grath, to arrive and drive them off.
Before this point, Bupkis had been very good at remaining unnoticed, but his concern for Alicia had caused him to throw caution to the wind. He had been spotted, but luckily for him, Rodrick had realized what had distracted the orcs, and that lives had been saved. Bupkis was cornered by the guards, but Rodrik ordered them to spare the little goblin.
Rodrik took a liking to Bupkis, and made sure he could get enough to eat without stealing, in exchange for a promise to defend the town if it came under attack again. Bupkis now had two friends! AA few months later, Rodrik asked him if he would like to come and see something special: a Hopeknife ceremony.

Full Disclosure: While I haven't played Giantslayer at all, I have listened to the first part of the Glass Cannon Podcast. I would therefore have to refrain from making suggestions concerning some specific plot points.

@Holone Carynore I should have put this in the first post really.
If you wish to link an individual post, for your example, go to that post then click on the time which should be to the top right of the post to the left of flag, list, reply. The link in your browser will now be set to that specific post. Copy and paste the link from your broswer into url tags, which are (url=www.yourbroswerlink.com]Example Post[/url) but with all square brackets. That is how I do it at least :)

@ScegfOd thanks :) Kaer Maga should be fine, it is listed as having a population of 100 elves so all good.
@PCScipio appreciate you mentioning the podcast, I do not see that as a big problem given that you are prepared to hold back at appropriate points. Truthfully I loved Psionics in 3.5, and Masters of the Unseen Hand, and from the sound of things a lot of the mechanics are pretty similar. And as I said to Scrabbler this is probably one of the better APs for a goblin, you would face some prejudice for sure, but probably much less than a half orc.
@ALL just about to start reading over some backgrounds with the view to advice/comments, check back in a few hours :)

Looking forward to your feedback!
As far as the previous post I do have this however it was a few years ago during my first pbp in a pfs scenario. It’s not much but I had a great time playing that character. I don’t have much experience in pbp except recently; I just wrapped up one and will be finishing another in the coming days. I’m also in a mini AP of sorts that just started.
I do have 8 years of role play experience however and really enjoy the depth pbp can give. Characters.

@GM Placeholder of Doom! I'm almost done with my crunch too, but I'm having a hard time choosing a (second) trait. I feel like Seeker works since Zordlon like exploring etc; he likes magic a lot so studying to the point of getting a bonus cantrip once per day would make sense; and also I haven't fully thought out the reason for his eidolon to be interested in him, but being Fate's Favored isn't unreasonable xD

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@ScegfOd mechanically Seeker is a good choice, having an extra cantrip a day does not compare IMO, name me a cantrip that can compare with +3 to perception permanently. Do you have a way to take advantage of Fates Favoured, as in a luck bonus to increase?
Also just a quick note you have Trunau spelled incorrectly.

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@PCScipio I enjoyed your background, but have a couple of thing I am curious about/would like to see expanded. How did Bupkis learn common? Seems like he would need some form of interaction to achieve this and there is no obvious candidate. Where does Bupkis live? How does Alicia treat Bupkis, and how old is she in the present. Who does Bupkis interact with in Trunau other than Rodrik and Alicia?

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@Ivan "The Mountain" Ironbrow, just quickly craft arms and armor is not a legitimate craft skill I am afraid, the skills would be craft weapons and craft armor respectively- check the example table for crafting for a break down. Background greatly improved by the addition, but Grath needs altering to Rodrik, I presume you mean him, as Grath is a surname shared by several major NPCs. Are you aware Agrit is a lesbian dwarf wizard who is one of Trunau's councillors who runs a magic shop? I am sure you are aware of some of it, but I doubt she would be brawling, though I could be convinced. I would say she moved to Trunau because she is not a very dwarfy dwarf. Consider simply changing that up to Sara who would be the only one regularly at the Smithy and though a Councillor to she would be more likely to have a drunken brawl.

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

Are you ok with gunslingers? Black powered in general?
My apologies for missing this earlier. I am fine with Gunslingers, but I do not think they are likely to be well catered to in the AP, you will mostly be in pretty remote or frontier locales so ensure you can take care of your own gun/guns and ammo or consider the Bolt Ace archetype.

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@Edgar Bronson a strong background, there is one point in the 6 months before paragraph where Edgar changes to Edward. The family is soundly rooted in Trunau, but did Edgar have any old friends, where is he planning to stay, how does he plan to fund his plan to rebuild the farm is he seeking employment, what kind, etc.
And a very minor matter, I would prefer an element of question in the spirit visitation, a mention of drug use, or some strange ritual around the fire, something of that sort.
Build looks good, that Shooting Star feat is nice! But you have not taken Campaign Skills, I normally just adjust the class skills to give a +2 on herolab and then ensure I spend 2 skill points a level on Campaign Skills - there is probably a better way to do it.

GM Placeholder of Doom! |

@Xada Nivrublox much improved :) The dwarves and the knight feel a little generic though and could use some expansion. Why did the Dwarves allow a strange halfling to train with them, where is this Dwarf community? Where was this order of Knights? What nobles does he serve, and how is he doing so in Trunau?

argh! so many Eds in the family and I was just typing thoughts as they came. I'll fix that. And I also like the advice about the spirit visit. I think I'll adjust the story tonight to include a Shoanti shaman and some peace pipe puffing haha.
I'll also update the skills to include the background skills as well.

Ivan "The Mountain" Ironbrow |

I did not know that! It was an oversight on my part, now that you mention it I do recall reading about it, for some reason it just didn't register to think about while I was writing it out. Although, I could see her being a rough and tumble one, particularly with what Sara says about her when questioned about it. He would still be talking to them about the Clamor and potentially working there.
I've changed his crafts around, first time I've ever really crafted stuff not based on a feat for magical items. And the feat for that is "magical Arms and Armor" so I mistakenly assumed it was the same for the craft skill.
as for Grath, I said Jagrin grath, I noticed that I used -just- Grath later on, so I'll fix that up as well to be clearer.
