BTW Have I told you guys you have been doing great pushing this forward and with your posts. I just came across another Giantslayer game that started 2 weeks after ours and they are just beginning Book 3. So about roughly half way to where we are currently at.
Are you talking about this game? It's literally been a s!+&storm of recent.
It started 5 days after us and is just now climbing up the pooper in the back of Fort WhinyOrcess.

![]() |

It was a different one that is just now hitting the Tomb of the Giantslayer for the steel hand that Jorgan has.

![]() |

Which is fine if there is enough RP to cover the down areas. Which the first two books have plenty of opportunity for. 3-4 almost seemed identical in nature. This one breaks it up a small bit later on.

Ok, news time:
I've been back in Indiana working on the family farm for a few months now but unfortunately it's only been "part time". Of course, on a farm this means I was still working 50-60 hours per week but I'm paid by the hour and I don't have benefits, so I've been making about 2/3 as much as my salaried cousins (probably 1/2 as much if you take out how much I'm paying for market insurance).
So I've been looking for a more secure job with benefits but nothing had come up yet and my aunt (who is the director of special ed) happened to mention me and my background to the high school principle. He called me as soon as she left his office (she didn't even have time to call and warn me) because by total coincidence they just had a biology teacher retire the day before and were in desperate need to find one before the end of the month, as school starts on August 11.
Anyways, I just had my interview (with my former high school genetics teacher) and it looks like I will be teaching the freshman biology courses at the high school this year! Unfortunately because I'm the new guy they're also giving me the "learning community" classes this year (the classes for the students who struggled in middle school) and as I have no background in education I think this will be quite a challenge for me but nonetheless I'm pretty excited that this opportunity just sort of fell into my lap. And they reassured me that I won't have to have the learning community classes forever, which would be nice.

That's awesome! Congrats. You will do great. Wheel out the old tube TV and VHS tapes from 1950 and all will take care of itself.

Not reading Azlant in case someone runs it.
I am saving some bandwidth for Starfinder. Have to wait until Aug 17th for core rulebook and AP to drop though.

![]() |

I opened up the Gameplay thread for those tthat are interested in playing and learning the Starfinder AP once it releases.

Jorgan Steelkeg |

I think I'll have to pass on Starfinder as I just have too much going on. I'm really interested in it though, as a big Trekkie and a huge Le Guin fan.
I'll try to get Jorgan updated and check in on Gameplay later today. I've had new teacher orientation and I'm just a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

I completely understand. Save some room for that mental health.

Will GMPC Rogzul this evening if no post by then. Wife's B-Day today so difficult to post at the moment.
Woops, sorry about that, was hoping you saw my message to Euan in Second Darkness and DMPC'd me. I unfortunately didn't have enough time to post in all my games.
Happy Birthday to your wife btw!

![]() |

Yup I saw it and got ya :) Hope you had fun Rog.

So, aside from 1 other campaign, this is the only time I've played Pathfinder above level 3, and I've never had a magical weapon broken. What are my options as far as repair goes?
I could just leave it, but it was a +4 Gianstbane, I'm loathe to just move on and pump my gold into something else, though making it hardier next time around isn't a bad idea.

![]() |

As long as you gather all of the pieces there are a couple of options such as:

Kraygan Steelkeg |

Mending can fix destroyed items (at 0 hit points or less), but not their magical properties.
Make whole can fix destroyed magic items (at 0 hit points or less), and restores the magic properties of the item if your caster level is at least twice that of the item. Items with charges (such as wands) and single-use items (such as potions and scrolls) cannot be repaired in this way.
It seems that the caster level of Rog's spear is 12th, which might limit our ability to repair it ourselves, but Minderhal's Forge might be able to manage it.

Kraygan Steelkeg |

Is Rogzul limited to simple weapons? I noticed we have a couple large +2 glaives that haven't made it onto the loot sheet yet.
If we don't have a suitable weapon for him should we consider a tactical withdraw to get one?

![]() |

Loot List is all updated.

Rogzul |

Yeah, I've only got proficiency with simple weapons, but my spear will do for now, and I've got spells still as well. We'll be alright for the time being.

GM Tektite |

Heya fellas! Thought I'd drop in and say hello! Been thinking about everyone for a little while (the family and I moved back to Indy in Aug. and couldn't help seeing all the GenCon ads), and just had to see how the game was going. I've not played since I left, but still miss everyone. Hope everyone is doing well!

Heya Tek! Good to hear all is going well. Things are going well here. We are getting close to the end of Book 5 now and the elf yet lives.

the elf yet lives.
Despite the dwarves' best efforts at inducing hypertension.

Good to hear from you, Tek! I'm a lot quieter on the boards than I have been. Still sticking with this game but haven't picked up any new ones in a long time. Busy farming, then teaching. Just not enough time for PbP any more. I'll let you know next time we're down in Bloomington to see if you can make it. That would be pretty awesome; long time, no see.

Yes, this yak had hero points. You read the statline correctly. Wren's character in that AP also couldn't believe it.

You would think most parents would want harder teachers. I mean as a kid I sure didn't but I know I would have appreciated it more later on in life.
Well, no one was concerned that I was too hard. They were just concerned that their kid wasn't doing well in my class.
Most of the parents who came in had the type of kids who got all or mostly As in middle school without really trying and now they're getting a B-C in my class. I just reassured them that, first of all, a lot of kids are in the same situation. Kids at that age (freshman, so 14-15) just haven't learned how to study yet or prepare for a test because they probably haven't needed and have gotten by on their natural intelligence. But we cover so much material in my two bio classes and the tests are so tough that no one really gets an A on all the tests unless they've put in at least a little time studying their notes and looking over the book on their own time.
So I gave the parents a few tips to make sure their kid is taking and studying their notes (they get fill-in-the-blank notes to follow along with during lecture) and I reminded the parents of a few things like test retakes, which are allowed but only a few students have actually taken advantage of. Especially after hearing that last bit, the parents felt a lot better and were ready to go home and whip their kids into shape and I've had a few more kids than usual asking me about test retakes this week, haha!
And yeah, even if the kids don't like that I'm the hard teacher (although really none of them complain to me, I just know I've got that reputation already) I'd much rather be the tough teacher that actually teaches you things than the blowoff teacher who just wastes your time. It might be fun when you're a kid but some day you'll probably wish you'd actually learned something in that class.

![]() |

Exactly! As I kid I didn't listen during class much. I did the homework from the previous class during my next class. Last class of the day would just be done during 1st period the next day. Endless cycle. Not the best grades but I passed fine. Didn't hardly hear a word during class though :)

![]() |

I will be pretty sparse today as it is the last day to spend with my family before I head out for the year. Travel day tomorrow but I should be able to post at some point.

Jorgan Steelkeg |

Sorry I went quiet for a bit. Part of it is simply because I was in Chicago on Sunday. But mostly it's because my brother-in-law unexpectedly left the family farm right before harvest... which means I've had to pick up some slack at the farm while still teaching. Weather depending I've had to go from the school to the field and also spend my weekends working as well. So I might be kind of busy for a while until harvest is over.

![]() |

Ouch! That sucks. Don't burn yourself out. Take it easy when you need to we will be here :)

Jorgan Steelkeg |

Hey, I was in Chicago on Sunday too. Were you running the marathon or stuck in the traffic jam it caused?
No, we were at the Field Museum. We had the foresight to take the train in and avoid the traffic though ;)

Rogzul |

Alright, GM you already know I'm tying the knot this weekend, but as far as Rog here's some preferred botting:
He'll try to keep a comfortable distance from the fire giants but still close enough to stab at them (15ft, he's got 1 more quickened enlarge for the day I believe). At the first sign of sundering he'll back off and beast shape into a mammoth. to continue pummeling. After this fight he'll strongly suggest resting.
