All of the posted purchases have been added and the dwarves have spent their money, but Rogzul still has 21,000 GP to spend and Wren has 19,500 GP left.
Are we keeping that in reserves?

Jorgan Steelkeg |

Traveling again from tomorrow until April 7th. Last back-and-forth trip though! I'll try my best to keep up during that time but I will likely be a little slower than I have been the past few days.

Uh, waiting to see where we go and what Wren can get before making final purchases. In theory, he hasn't spent any of his money yet...and the dwarves keep trying to M.SkyCitadel.G.Again by keeping Squats out, Wren might not get access to anything.
We'll see how this scene plays out before Wren finishes spending his gold.

Torgan Steelkeg |

You could have forged your Gauntlet of Storing, if you'd like! Also, you can nip into Janderhoff, just not Squats! ;)

Rogzul |

Forgot costs were halved, so at the very least I'll make my giants belt a +6 instead of +4. Will look into what to do with the rest if no one has any immediate ideas.

Jorgan Steelkeg |

Heads up: Our internet at the old house in Madison is being shut off some time tomorrow and we are moving back to Indiana on Saturday but won't have internet in the new house until Tuesday at the earliest. Sorry in advance if I disappear for a while but I'll try to get back on as soon as I can.

![]() |

Sounds good! Hope you have a speedy and safe travels Jorgan!

Jorgan Steelkeg |

Hopefully internet will be set up at new house tomorrow and I'll be back in 24 hours. Stealing internet from the parents' house tonight but I've got other urgent emails and things to respond to so no time for PbP :( See you guys soon!

@Wren: Spell suggestions:
Resist energy, communal - Not a wiz spell but lim wishable.
Protection from energy, communal - Meh.
Greater heroism - Not a good spell. Will spam reg heroisms.

485 to spend. (owe Kray 1400, Squats 3500)

Kraygan Steelkeg |

I'll admit most of those spells are meh. But communal resist energy is a wizard spell, and could be very handy to prevent damage - considering our lack of a dedicated healer preventing damage is a good tactic.
Mage's sword is good because it has a good attack bonus and can damage just about anything.

I will be leaving for vacation in Mexico this weekend and will be gone through the beginning of May. It says I have Wifi there so I should be able to still post once a day at night.

![]() |

Torgan will be leaving us and staying in Vanderhoff. Do you guys want to recruit another?

![]() |

Torgan will be leaving us and staying in Vanderhoff. Do you guys want to recruit another?
Gah. Good question. Normally I would say no. But we need someone who is going to post and push. Unless Jorgan's new home will allow him to take some of the load, or Rogs' schooling ends, we'll need a bit of oomph.

Kraygan Steelkeg |

Torgan will be leaving us and staying in Vanderhoff. Do you guys want to recruit another?
I assume you mean Janderhoff? Because the other would be weird...
Regarding a replacement, I have the same feelings as Pain. Normally I think we would be fine with 4 (APs are designed for that number anyway), but we could maybe use another pusher, though they would need to be motivated and reliable.

Jorgan Steelkeg |

Yeah, sorry everyone. I really don't want to give up on this AP but I moved back in the peak of planting season and that is making it hard for me to keep up with PbP. Every day since I've moved back to Indiana I have worked at least 10 hours per day and yesterday I put in a 15 hour day.
The good news is that things will get better in a few weeks once the seeds are in the ground and maybe after another game or two finishes so I'll have fewer games on my plate.
The bad news is that I'll still be a little spotty for the new few weeks and there's not much I can do except apologize for my absence.

Rogzul |

I wouldn't mind a pusher either. The semester ends next month, at which point I won't be spending my days managing a never ending swarm of hungry 20-somethings, and will have more time to post, but until then I'll be spotty as well.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Alright- I will see who I can find over the next few days. Unless someone has a good suggestion or two that want to hop in on last 2 books.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Yup, Janderhoff. Being inside Vanderhoff would be weird. :). Too many similar names.

![]() |

Believe I found us one more. As for Torgan's gear. It will all stay with him. Minus Aggrimosh. I will make sure that is sent back to be able to utilize the forge.
Getting a build worked out and will get him in the Gameplay soon.

![]() |

Hello, all - I hope Farin wasn't too over the top for you all.
Nah, 'Ling, twas fine. We've had dwarves who have volunteered to be catapulted into a town wall and you think your thing was over the top? Shee....we built a Trojan (Torgan?) Yak and stuffed it with booze. If anything, you're way too coherent for a non-elf. ;)
Welcome. I liked your opening post. I'll have a response later this day.

![]() |

Never such a thing as going too big! :)

Rogzul |

I've kind of written out the idea of another AP for awhile as my schedule has continued to become more packed over the last couple years, but that one has certainly piqued my interest.
Also...welcome to the group Farin!

![]() |

That AP does sound amazing. It begins to get released in August?
Loving the RP. I know a lot are ready to push forward though it looks like we probably have a tad bit more RP to bring Farin into the fold of events and such so will give it another day or two. Once it looks like everyone is ready.

![]() |

Just so I am clear here, was this some sort of magical trap that we missed or something, or were you just adding flavor? I know the roll was bad, but it was still a 34 - even if the fire giants perception was higher, I would not have thought anyone else would hear squeaking and snapping. The orcs aren't making the same noises?

![]() |

It was more for flavor. The fire giant is taking 10 as he was watching the orcs. His Perception was 34 total which unfortunately was exactly what you had. Really only needed 1 more.

![]() |

I am going to be travelling for the next 2 days, so not likely to be able to post much until Saturday. Farin's plan will be to become invisible using the sipping jacket, get into position by a giant, sneak attack with a dagger (std action), go inviso (swift), and move to different position.
GM - what level casting would a potion be? I am assuming minimum is level 3, so a 3 minute = 18 round duration. Does that sound right?
If you all want me on hounds instead, keep in mind that Farin has evasion, and a really high reflex save, so I would hope not too many fire breathes will damage him.

Jorgan Steelkeg |

Sorry guys, I've been having a lot of problems getting on the Paizo site the last few days. Every time I try to get on to update the page won't load. Finally got it to load tonight but I don't have time to catch up on all the posts I've missed. Let's hope the site works again tomorrow when I check in.
In the mean time, please bot me if I'm holding things up.

![]() |

They just applied a patch tonight. Something bad was going on that only certain ports were allowing packets through according to the tracert's sent in.

![]() |

So, is anyone thinking about (or knows a group that might be) playing the Ruins of Azlant AP when it comes out?
I would be all for playing this when it releases.
In August I am planning on GM'ing the first Starfinder Adventure Path Dead Suns on Aug 17th for those interested.

![]() |

Here is about all anybody knows at the moment as the Core rulebook comes out on the same day.
Archetypes
So Starfinder is using archetypes as sets of class features that represent a concept that isn't tied to any one class, but shouldn't be available to every character simply by taking a set of feats. Unlike Pathfinder archetypes, which must be designed for a single specific character class it can be added to, Starfinder archetypes are designed to be applicable to any character class. Each class has specific class features it gives up at set levels (2nd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 12th, and 18th) if the archetype provides an alternative class feature at that level (though not every archetype will need to have alternate class features at all those levels). An archetype thus becomes part of the class you attach it to, and that class loses a pre-determined ability at the levels the archetype grants you an alternative. For example, the Starfinder Core Rulebook has two archetypes—the phrenic adept and the Starfinder forerunner. The phrenic adept has alternate class features at every level it can—2nd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 12th, and 18th—while the Starfinder forerunner only provides alternate class features at 2nd, 4th, and 6th.
5 Differences between Starfinder and Pathfinder
1. Hit Points, Stamina Points, and Resolve Points. In Starfinder, Hit Points measure the health and robustness of a character, while Stamina Points measure a character's readiness and energy (and can be replenished far more easily). Whenever you take damage, your Stamina Points are depleted before your Hit Points. In other words, you can soak up some hits without too much trouble, but once you start taking damage to your Hit Points, you're taking physical wounds that are much harder to heal quickly.
Starfinder characters also get a third pool of points called Resolve Points, which represent grit and luck. You can spend Resolve Points to power (or enhance) some class features, or to help you stay in a fight longer. Resolve Points also determine whether or not you die if both your Stamina Points and Hit Points are reduced to zero.
You can recover all of your Stamina Points by resting for 10 minutes and spending 1 Resolve Point; Resolve Points and some Hit Points are replenished after an 8-hour rest.
2. Armor Classes. Characters in Starfinder have two Armor Classes: Energy Armor Class (EAC) and Kinetic Armor Class (KAC). Attacks that deal energy damage (like the fire damage from your trusty red star plasma pistol) target EAC; attacks that deal kinetic damage (like the bludgeoning damage from a gravity well hammer) target KAC. Starfinder has no flat-footed or touch AC.
3. No Iterative Attacks. Starfinder characters normally get a single attack every round, and this holds true from level 1 to level 20—a character's number of attacks does not increase as their base attack bonus goes up. Instead, any character (even at first level!) can use a full action to make two attacks in a round, each at a -4 penalty.
4. Attacks of Opportunity. In Starfinder, only three things provoke attacks of opportunity: moving out of a threatened square, making a ranged attack, and casting a spell. That's it. No other actions provoke attacks of opportunity.
5. Magic is Magic. There is no distinction between types of magic in Starfinder, whether arcane, divine, psychic, or something else. Spellcasting classes like the mystic and technomancer have different spell lists, but are both harnessing the same latent magical energy that permeates the universe. In addition, spells in Starfinder have no components; all you need is the ability to cast a spell and concentration.
So sounds like they tried to simplify a few things.

I will be out All day Tomorrow and won't be back until the evening on Sunday.
X-wing tournament all day Saturday and then spending weekend in Chicago.

Kraygan Steelkeg |

For those interested in Starfinder, here is a site compiling released information.
From the basic descriptions I'm interested in playing a Solarian or Mystic.

Kraygan Steelkeg |

On another note, I'll be camping from July 4th - July 14th. I don't know if I'll have internet access, so posting will be limited.

![]() |

I think I may start with a mechanic. Also, since you brought it up, I will be traveling July 8-20 with limited access. I will chime in as I can, but it probably won't be daily and the posts may be short.

![]() |

Sounds good. Have fun on your trips!
I will have to dig through that site a bit more that is a good compilation.

![]() |

BTW Have I told you guys you have been doing great pushing this forward and with your posts. I just came across another Giantslayer game that started 2 weeks after ours and they are just beginning Book 3. So about roughly half way to where we are currently at.
