"Here's the food. Thank you strong giant."

Sid puts the wisp in the lantern and starts to shine it on the rocks looking for any clue as to who made them or information about the tomb.


The giant takes the food and gives you the body of the wisp before wandering back into the marsh. Placing the wisp's body into the lantern you head to the north east.

The ghostlight lantern shines out and focuses on the central menhir in another ring of standing stones.

Sid will wave the lantern over the central stone trying to open a portal.

Questions:

To the group should we rest before entering. I imagine resting inside will be tough.

To the group and the GM did the Dwarf lady come with us?. Sid invited her to come along to help her brother.

Dwarf Lady said she's too unstable to be of help so she stayed behind. Zavier doesn't need to rest as he got all his health back from wands. Fine with resting up before heading in.

Providing there is a portal that has appeared Sid will enter once some tougher has gone in.

Kohl will go first into the portal (if/when it appears).


As you touch the stone a portal appears. A lone menhir stands in a clearing in a vibrant forest filled with thick, verdant plant life. Exotic flowers drape the standing stone, which pulses with brilliant chartreuse light. A path lined with rose petals leads from the monolith to a giant floral bloom carved from wood. Two carved, wooden stamens stretch out toward the pulsating menhir, extending from either side of a set of ornate doors carved into the giant flower. An overpowering fragrance of flowers and sweet grass permeates the air. The sun above sits at its zenith, basking the area in light and warmth.

Kohl steps forward, his head slowly swiveling from side to side, astonishment on his face. "This is... extraordinary. Sid, is this the First World, or some other plane?" He walks a few more steps towards the doors.


As you move forward two strange twig like creatures appear from the undergrowth and attack.

Kohl whips out his spear as he steps up behind the others. He stabs at the one that Gallant is attacking.

Sid, you realise that these things are twigjacks, they are vulnerable to fire. Dolgrym you also know that they can release a spray of splinters and brambles in a 15 foot cone and they can travel through branches and twigs as if under a dimension door effect

Zavier grapples one of the creatures

Sid's punch hits the second creature and it is unable to resist as Gallant grapples it.

Dolgrym misses the grappled creature but Basher connects doing some damage

Kohl stabs the one that Basher is grappling.

The twigjacks both spray brambles from their bodies

Somewhat constrained Zavier tries to dodge.

Then he continues grappling the little monsters.

Gallant will move the twigjack while maintaining the grapple to limit how many people can be caught in the cone. Grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Gallant takes half damage from improved invasion.

Kohl nimbly dodges most of the thorns, dropping his spear in the process. But with the new positioning, he tries to smash the twig that Gallant is grappling with his morningstar. from where we are, he might have to technically 5' step to do that, which is fine

Kohl smashes the twigjack that Gallant is grappling, Dolgrym pulverises the one that Zavier is grappling, killing it.

Now the fight is over you can see that there is some writing in a language you can't understand is etched above the doors

Above the door it reads, "If you seek peace in nature, welcome. If you seek anything else, beware the wrath of the Vale of Thorns."

The door opens easily. An extensive wooden bridge stretches across a wide, high chamber and overlooks an exotic garden far below. The air is hot and humid and a powerful stench of overripe vegetation wafts throughout the massive, domed chamber. The ceiling overhead is a complex series of star-patterned glass that magnifies the rays of the sun directly above. At the far end of the bridge, interwoven branches form a doorway.
