I have decided to take the jump and run a PBP. I am going to do the Carrion Crown Adventure Path. I am looking for players who can post about once a day, but during the week days I will be able to post more. Weekends will be less frequent. I would like a to have a brief description of your character and his connection to Professor Lorrimar (please read the AP guide).
Ground Rules:
NO EVIL CHARACTERS! This AP just screams for a Paladin.
Civil behaviour.
Casters, when posting your spells that are being cast, please include the DCs (actually this applies to any PC action that causes a save).
No deliberately antagonistic characters please. I don't mind disagreement or banter, but deliberate disruptiveness (i.e. "I'm playing my 7 charisma." excuse) is not what I'm looking for.
Most importantly, have fun!
Character creation:
25pt buy
3 traits, one of which MUST be a campaign trait from the player's guide.
Max gold at 1st level.
1 free upbringing feat. If you are unfamiliar with these, let me know and I will attempt to post them. They can be found in RotRL and CotCT. Also, if you use Hero Lab they are listed.
No Samurai, Ninjas, or Gunslingers.
All Paizo source material allowed. Additionally, any 3rd party Pathfinder material can be used with approval on a case by case basis. Be aware that some of that stuff may be amended by me (for example, Tome of Secrets was rushed to print so it could make GenCon and there are errors in it. I have most of the corrections).
Finally, part of the reason I'm running is because a friend and I could not get in a CC PBP, so he is forcing me to run it :). That being said I am looking for 5 more players, he is running a Cleric of Pharsama (NG). So keep that in mind when creating a character (an Undead Lord would probably not make the cut). I will be picking the characters based on party compatibility first, character concept second, and order of submissions last. I will close recruitment when I have a full party.

I have a character from a long defunct PbP which I think would be perfect for this campaign: Shol’a’saul
Her BG I can easily rework for this campaign if need be, but I think I works good for her now. Traits I am thinking of would be either Subject of Study or Making Good on Promises.
Let me know what you think.

Kraz Ryabstev |

Please consider the Inquistor Kraz Ryabstev of Pharasma. Character is in construction as we speak, will add background and more details as they unfold.
Thanks for your time.
Edit: Skills/Feats/Traits added working on background now. What are upbringing feats? I have and use Hero lab and I saw an option to include them but I don't see anywhere to choose them.

Venedictos |

Venedictos here was in a CC game which never made it very far. He's based on the idea of a Franciscan Friar (in his case, a traveling 'monk' in the service of Shelyn) who has an amazingly beautiful voice and sings beautiful plain chant. He's a Diplomat and healer. While he starts off with a cleric level, he's mainly a bard, with all his bardic abilities (Songhealer archetype) flavoured as divine gifts channeled through chant (the verbal components for his cleric spells are also sung to chant).
He's a really fun character, but his games never make it very far (1 homebrew, 1 Age of Worms, and 1 Carrion Crown, all defunct), and of the three, Carrion Crown was the best fit for him.

Aeleanor Asaaru |

Here's Aeleanor, the exiled Drow Rogue(with future plans for shadow-dancing) for your consideration. I used the common Drow bonuses and traits. Let me know how you feel about this. I am also pretty new to pathfinder and D&D: please explain what upbringing traits are.
Here is her background, everything is also on her profile.
She spent much of her childhood sneaking out of her manor-house and into the slums and back alleys of Unterdahli, the subterranean city of her upbringing. There she met many Muhrg, the common Drow and slaves of other races that were second-class citizens at best and rarely had the chance to advance themselves in society except through murder and conniving. A Muhrg would occasionally be born with special powers that would allow them entrance into the Noble class, but they were not readily accepted and were often killed when recognized as special. Because of this, those born with special powers often killed their parents to hide their lowly birth and worked their way into the noble class through murder and deceit.
Aeleanor was fascinated by different people and in the innocent curiosity of her youth, she explored outside the Noble district. Despite her mother's admonitions and derision for the Muhrg, she continued to return to the lower levels of the city and society and became well-known among them.
A natural leader, Aeleanor drew talented Muhrg children to her and formed a small band. They explored the caves and tunnels near the city and went on adventures into the underdark, many of which they barely escaped alive from. This group of close friends included Kahlii, Rubin, Gruutzi, and Khemal.
When her mother found she had been consorting with Muhrg, she beat Aeleanor and locked her in her room for a week before finally letting her out and immediately enrolling her at an institute for the education of Drow nobles. She did poorly, and learned more of subterfuge and deceit than anything else. She received classical combat training there, but never felt that it was right to subjugate her own people using these skills. She did not believe their ruthless teachings of supremacy and how to control and extort those less intelligent or fortunate.
One day, during a lecture about etiquette and how Nobles were expected to act towards Muhrg, she spoke out against the instructors and was subjected to persecution and was inspected for expulsion from the institute and into the Muhrg. It was only by her mother's strategic exertion of favors and power that she was allowed to return back to the school.
She quickly learned to control her emotions and hide her dangerous thoughts. However, she continued to meet with her small band of Muhrg friends, and she began teaching them what she learned in the institute they were not even allowed to view. She taught them from her books and trained them to fight with traditional Drow weapons as she herself learned.
She became a prodigious fencer and she was well on her way to becoming a powerful member of the matriarchal society. Aeleanor did all that was expected of her, and did well in all disciplines, including magic. She danced as well, and this brought her recognition and acceptance from the Noble community. She no longer opposed the matriarchs openly, but she was becoming more and more jaded, and outraged as she watched her friends devour what she taught them. They were learning just as quickly as the Noble children, and were already comparable fighters.
As she matured, Aeleanor and her friends began exploring further, including into the deeper parts of the world and even to the surface. There, she acquired philosophical texts by human scholars who emphasized egalitarianism and altruism, two concepts that she had been nursing but had not yet formulated into fruitful thoughts. She shared these with her Muhrg friends and they, too found these texts to be a legitimization of their plight and struggle towards liberation and equality.
She and her friends were now almost adults, and Aeleanor was close to gaining the full status of citizen. They felt that they could no longer bear the injustice and inequality of the society, and formed a group called the ]Muhrg Liberation Front. They organized secret basement meetings to teach Muhrg to think and to fight. They passed on the gospel of equality and civil rights, and they rapidly gained popularity among the Muhrg. In fact, it grew too much, and soon, the entire Muhrg population knew of this secret union.
Soon, the Drow matriarchy began to notice a restlessness in their slaves and subordinates that did not at all sit well with them. There were whispers in the streets and rumors of rebellion flew. Through extortion, bribes, and torture, the matriarchy traced the Liberation Front back to its roots and came for the leaders: Aeleanor and her friends; Kahlii, Rubin, Gruutzi, and Khemal.
Though they had feared discovery, they had no idea how sudden it would be and how swift the retribution of the nobles would be exacted. Rubin and Gruutzi were caught by the nobles, and gruesomely publicly executed as Aeleanor, Kahlii, and Khemal watched from the shadows.
They packed their belongings and disappeared into a city of enemies. Their knowledge of the city and its back-ways from their early adventuring days served them well, and they were able to make it to the main gate. Here, their plan failed. The half-mile stone bridge to the city that spanned over a chasm of unknown depth was lined with guards up and down, with orders to take them alive or dead.
They had no way out and they would surely be killed if they stayed. Aeleanor, Kahlii, and Khemal waited for the guards to change shifts, then scaled down the city wall and climbed on narrow ledges to the underside of the bridge. They then climbed along the bottom of the bridge until they reached the other side.
Exhausted, they clambered up to the landing only to find a platoon of guards waiting for them. Khemal took a poisoned crossbow bolt to the chest and fell backwards over the precipice, screaming and flailing his arms. Khalii and Aeleanor fought bravely with magic, fire and steel, but there were simply too many guards. Though Khalii had never been particularly skilled at the magic arts, he surprised Aeleanor. Suddenly, he stopped fighting and grasped his sword in both hands, then sank it into his own chest. With an emanating blast of pure energy, the entire platoon was knocked back and unconscious. Khalii sank to his knees and turned to Aeleanor, who stood unaffected by the magic but unable to speak for wonder and shock.
"Take the sword..." he said as blood filled his mouth.
"...I......I love you..."
With that, he pulled the sword from his body and fell to the ground, dead.
With guards pounding across the bridge towards her and the fallen platoon starting to regain consciousness, she snatched the sword from his still-warm hands. She ran towards the surface with tears in her eyes and the poisoned bolts of her own people whistling over her head.

Edit changing faith to Iomedae and alignment fron neutral to Lawful Neutral. Detailed background still in works.

Upbringing feats are mostly based on being Varisian or from that area (remember, Ustalav is mostly Varisian). There are three basic ones (which any character background can use), three more based on being from one of the main Varisian cities, and then some for being from one of the Shoanti tribes. I will give a detailed list tonight.
*EDIT* Ignore the above. I looked at the SRD and saw a section for 'local' feats. You may choose any of those that are available at first level as the bonus upbringing feat.

Aeleanor Asaaru |

Ad'ifaah Najeeb |

Stats/feats/traits updated. Ad'ifaah is originally from Qadira, so she has feats/traits from there. She has wandered across Varisia for several years, so if you would prefer Varisian feats/traits, please let me know and I can change them. Her Feat - Katheer Scholar looks good, but I do not own the Inner Sea Guide, and thus do not have the full detail on what it grants.

Cool, city born sounds quite close to my backstory anyway. I'll check up on my equipment later tonight, but I think I'm mostly ready - thanks for your time.
BTW, just to check: we can't choose a PrC for our favored class, right?

Busy day yesterday, so couldn't post. I will be going through the submissions during the weekend and will probably have final answer Monday or Tuesday. I will be sending notes out with questions and/or corrections to individual characters today and tomorrow.
I noticed several submissions have the characters at 2nd level, if those people could correct that to 1st level it would help.

OK, here we go:

Kraz Ryabstev |

Fixed, Background coming tonight.
TLDR: Born in Korvosa moved with father to lastwall when he was ten. Grew up in that martial society, father was priest of Iomadae was killed fighting minions of the whispering tyrant. Kraz continued in his fathers footsteps but as an inquisitor. Less interested in fighting orcs and more interested in purging the world of undead he moved on to Ustalav where he had an encounter with the late professor that turned into a friendship.

Ad'ifaah, Aerys (the mad king?), and Venidictos are all good. Kraz, you over adjusted, your stats are at 24 points now instead of 25. Shol'a'saul your stats are at 29 points now.

Shol’a’saul |

EDIT: Hmmm...actually she has a 12 STR (2pts), 15 DEX (13 +2 racial so 3pts), 10 CON (12 -2 racial so 2pts), 18 INT(16 +2 racial so 10 pts), 12 WIS (2pts), 15 CHA (7pts) = total 26.
Let me drop her STR to 11, that should get her to 25 points :)

Shanosuke |

Is it too late for me to join? I have two concepts to put forth but I am not sure which would fit better, a monk or a ranger. Do you have any input on which of the two has a better chance of getting in? Oh and I also have a Sylph inquisitor too if you are willing to allow bestiary races. I think that would work best in this campaign.

Ricven Hartwar |

Sorry for the delay. I considered switching to Oracle and Barbarian before I decided to stick with the fighter. I've changed his hometown to take the local feat and slightly altered his background.
Everything else should be filled in: Gear, money, weight, etc. Let me know if there's more details I should add or anything I left out. Thanks.
PS: The plan is to go pure Fighter with a mix of combat and defensive feats depending on what we run into so he can take hits and deal some pain back. I also might pick up Dazzling Display depending on party makeup.

Piatra |

Sorry, he's built with two Archtypes, Flowing Monk and Monk of the Sacred Mountain.
I think my feats are right, get one normal lvl 1 and one bonus as Monk.
For the local feat, can I take the "Stance of the Xorn" feat from Dwarves of Golarian? It requires +3BAB, but I could just not have it kick in until level 4, so I meet the prerequisite.
Updated profile except for local feat.

![]() |

A quick note: It does not matter where your character is from as Professor Lorrimar traveled extensively.
Also, all feats must meet their prerequisites.
I noticed a couple of people put Atheist under their religion. In this universe, there is no such thing, as the gods are evident and participate in the world. You don't have to follow any of them or particularly respect them, but to not believe in their existence would make a character delusional (something I'm not willing to have in the campaign).

Ad'ifaah Najeeb |

Ad'ifaah scans around the room looking at all the other people gathered. There is no way this many people were named in the Professor's will, I wonder how many of them are frauds, and how many have no idea of the horrors which this land holds.
She then goes to the back of the room carefully watching all the others gathered, making sure that her coin purse is secure and that her back is guarded. Many in the room appear to be the type that one keeps close until they can be turned over to the local authorities.

My, my. So young, yet so cynical :) .

Ricven Hartwar |

The half-elf fighter sheathes his weapons as he enters the building. Ricven runs his hand over his shaved head, brushing away the sweat and rain, then shakes hands with the greeters as he enters. The guard, in his armor complete with weapons, seems totally out of place in such a somber setting.
He sees Ad'ifaah at the edge of the room, eyeing everyone else. He recognizes it as a standard guard formation since he's done it enough times himself. The fighter walks up to her and greets her.
"Would you take a look at all the folks who turned out for the Professor? It's nice they were able to give him a good sendoff."

Maddigan |

Maddigan wrote:Dammit. I missed another campaign I would have liked to try.So far as I can tell, no decision has been made yet. Might as well throw up a basic idea if you have one. Good luck!
Cool. I'll do it. Nothing to lose.
I'll write up the concept before I make it completely including the basic crunch.

Venedictos |

The door opens to reveal a portly man in a simple, brown, travel-stained robe. As he throws his hood back, rain runs down his balding head and over a peculiar, bird-shaped birthmark on his forehead. He looks around the room, scanning its furnishings, rather than its people, at whom he avoids looking. Spotting some wine, he makes his way over and pours himself a healthy sampling, which he sips with a relieved sigh.
Once he has some wine in him, he finally looks up and about at the people. His eyes widen a little further at each weapon he sees. "Just what kind of man was the Professor, anyway?" he asks quietly to nobody in particular.

Maddigan |

The concept is that Deriven is from a family of holy knights dedicated to Sarenrae that came to Ustalav during the crusade against the first Whispering Tyrant. They spent their blood and lives defeating the Whispering Tyrant and stayed behind to continue to fight the good fight and see Ustalav protected from the remaining evil left behind by the Whispering Tyrant's minions. He works with the church of Pharasma to extinguish undead and would probably know the cleric of Pharasma in the group as the Firelion family would be knwown crusaders against undead in the land of Ustalav.
Here's my concept. Let me know if I have a chance to get in the campaign and I'll fully make him. Looks like you have a bunch of character's vying for few spots and I'm late to the party. I think this concept would be a great addition to the group given what information you've given for the campaign and the Carrion Crown campaign. No AP I've seen yet screams more for a paladin than this one.
