About Ricven Hartwar

Background:
Ricven Hartwar grew up in and around Korvosa, the son of a merchant woman who deals with all kinds of outsiders on a regular basis. She's never talked about his father, but has raised Ricven to not be ashamed of who he is. The lack of a father, along with his ears, made him a target for bullies and forced Ricven to stand up for himself from an early age. He also tended to fight with those who had anything bad to say about his single mother.

As an adult, he has worked guarding shipments through his mother's business and for other merchants across the Inner Sea. He first met Professor Lorrimor years ago while guarding a shipment of supplies and people through open country. Bestial creatures - part man, part animal - attacked. The professor helped drive the beasts off thanks to his esoteric knowledge and quick thinking.

Ricven promised he'd help the professor whenever it was required, but Lorrimor died before he could collect on the debt. Now the half-elf is going to the funeral to pay his last respects and see if there is any way he can make good on his promise.
