Sanite remains quiet while the others converse about things beyond his expertise. While he was intelligent, so were they and they also had other knowledge at their disposal for the moment.
When they mentioned moving on, he nodded and stepped out into the hall once more and made his way down to the next door, opening it once the others gave the signal.

GM Volandis |

Sanite moves out of the room. As he steps just beyond the entrance to the spire room he gets the sudden feeling of the ground falling out from beneath him.

Round 1 (Cont)
Romulus expects the spider to attack Sanite and gets ready to fire, but the spider starts to crawl up the wall towards the trap door.
With all eight legs working together it quickly lifts the trapdoor back in place. Sanite looks on in horror as the spider webs the door closed again and turns to face him.
The spider is now 5ft up the wall but still in reach for Sanite to attack.

Romulus blinks in suprise.
That... is a smart arachnid.... Umm.... Huh.
He waits for a moment and pulls the arrow back again, waiting to see what the others do...

![]() |

Dasus, who had been hanging back just a bit, looks startled as Sanite falls in the pit, but before he can act a spider has... Shut the trap door?
He steps forward quickly, however, and raises his axe as he arrives at the edge of the trapdoor. He swings it down, as hard as he can, trying to break it open. "We're coming, Sanite!"

Round 2 (cont)
I'm happy with Dasus' powerful attack 'triggering' the trapdoor and opening it again is that makes sense to me.
Sanite makes the spider think twice about attacking him. Dasus smashes the door open again leaving a clear path for Adowyn and Heccuba to put a couple of arrows in the spider. The spider looks very badly hurt so Romulus decides to try to finish it off. I hope you don't mind me making that choice for you Romulus, but in a face to face game i'd have strongly hinted that it was close to death. ;)

![]() |

Sanite uses the large hammer to hold himself up as he leans against the wall. He would rather not impale himself further on the spikes. He looked up, hoping there was indeed a rope that would be coming down soon.

![]() |

Romulus looks through his pack, then checks the others and moans in annoyance.
How did we ALL forget to pack rope? Gah... we're gonna have to figure out another way to get him up...

![]() |

Sanite looked up at the others "If you need to, leave and close back the trap door. But please, do not leave me long enough for moss to grow." he said in all seriousness.

![]() |

Dasus gives a bit of a shrug and says, "I just didn't even think of it." He looks down to Sanite and says, "We're not leaving you. Not all of us, at least."
He looks up to the others, and says, "Do you think there was anything upstairs we could repurpose as a rope?"

Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |

"Forgetting to bring rope is truly unbelievable. I do not know if you know but I usually get my gear from an iconic shop near here ... really not my fault that they forgot the rope, right?!?" Adowyn says with a sly smile.

![]() |

Romulus grumbles.
Well, nothing to do but the doing...
Having an idea, he goes back into the previous room and checks if maybe that cage that dropped so unceremoniously on them was held up by a chain that might be used to lower down to Sanite.

![]() |

Book will run around and see if he can find anything.
Finding a little stick he runs up to Heccuba
No, Book. That will not help

GM Volandis |

Romulus looks around the room. The chain could be hard to get to so instead he squeezes between the bars of the cage and retrieves the leather quick-release harness that held the skeleton in place. He clears space on the table and after some cutting and tying he puts together something that will reach down to help get Sanite out of the pit.

![]() |

Satisfied with his chop job, Romulus goes back to the pit and lowers down the rope, tying it off and bracing it himself.
Alright Sanite, up you go!

Climb: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 = 12
Sanite with a little bit of help attempts to scale his way up. He just hoped it would hold his abnormal weight.

![]() |

Dasus - though not as big as Sanite - is still quite large, so as Sanite climbs higher, he flattens himself along the edge, reaching a hand down to offer Sanite something to grab if the leather should fail.
Sorry for the lack of posting, I'm not feeling well so I've been having trouble keeping up the pace.

Romulus springs out his wand and holds it to Sanit's Chest.

He slots the wand back into it's sheath.
That should do you... Think we should go around the other way? I don't think i'd have much trouble getting over, but last thing i want to do is try and patch any of you lot up if you fall down in.

![]() |

Snaite gives a light tap to the human's shoulder for the patch up.
he looks back at the pit and then back towards where they came. He grins a bit in thought. "Well...that pit has made it so no one can get our backs....however there is a locked door. But we do have a key to locked doors." he said patting the handle to his new Earthbreaker.

![]() |

Romulus nods.
I think that's the best we have for now... I might consider learning how to pick a lot in the future, but for now, it's door busting time. Perhaps we'll find something to help you cross the gap safely.
Romulus walks back to the other door.
After you my large stony friend.

![]() |

Sanite leads the way back and proceeds to break a door.
Feel free to roll my to hit on the door...but it's just easier and faster to just do the damage portion, unless there is something that can fight back.
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 = 15
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 = 15
He plants his feet in front of the door and delivers three heavy blows in quick succession before stopping to admire his handiwork.

GM Volandis |

Hmm i wrote a post about hardness numbers and the noise it would make, but i don't see it anymore. Sorry everyone!
Sanite swings his weapon at the stone door 3 times. Cracks start to appear by the third swing, but it takes another couple of swings to smash the lock area so the door can be opened.
The noise is extremely loud and would likely carry very far. If any other creatures are in this place they would certainly have heard all the noise.
Behind the door is yet more corridor, with a door at the far end and another on the left hand wall.

![]() |

Catching up with the others, Dasus nods in agreement with Romulus, lifting his axe as he grins, "Let them find us, if they wish to die."
After this bit of joking bravado, he walks ahead to the next door, overconfident that he will survive any trap he might stumble into. He doesn't open it, though, until the others catch up.

![]() |

Sanite looks at the others and shrugs "I didn't see anyone pulling out any lockpicks...and I wasn't making it across that pit. Too much hrumph in my stones for that."
However, he quickly follows along behind Dasus.

GM Volandis |

This large room has a wide hole in the center of its floor. A heavy, welded steel ladder descends straight down from the lip of this shaft. The extent and depth of the space below are concealed behind the many crisscrossing, whitish-gray spider webs filling the pit. Through the webbing Dasus and Sanite can make out two more doors in this room, the one to the south is open.

![]() |

Sanite looks around and scratches his head for a minute "Anyone got a stick or a torch?" he says pulling out his flint to light it.
If only a stick is given, he'll use the stick to gather up some of the spider's silk to make a makeshift torch.

GM Volandis |

The combination of arrows being fired, Dasus looking down the pit, and a large rocky humanoid talking about burning webs is too much for the hiding spider. It crawls out of it web hiding place in the south west corner of the room and starts to move in to attack.
