Spider - dmg;
Dasus - dmg; entangled;

Leryn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Altovin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Dasus: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Heccuba: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Heccuba: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
As Adowyn begins to hack at the webbing, suddenly a stealthy spider attacks her from above. It looks much like the spider that bothered you so much on your last trip into the Spire...
Bite, higher ground, vs flat-footed: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
... However, even with the advantage of surprise and higher ground, it misses the hunter.
Beginning of Round 1
It tries again, again biting out at Adowyn.
Bite, higher ground, vs flat-footed: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Adowyn Fort save vs poison: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Though the bite hurts her slightly, she manages to resist the poison that drips from its teeth.
Pathfinders are up! Bold may post.
The Spider is in the same square as Dasus, but above him. It is reachable by anyone in an adjacent square.
| Leryn - Iconic Hunter Animal C. |
Adowyn shouts ”Leryn attack!“
Leryn immediately reacts and bites the spider.
bite : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
bite damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
If bite is a hit - free trip without AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
| Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
”These webs were awful but this spider is even worse!!!!“
Adowyn shoots two arrows with her composite longbow at the spider.
longbow, pbs, rapid shot: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 - 2 = 20 , longbow damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
longbow, pbs, rapid shot: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 - 2 = 15 , longbow damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Romulus Arrowsong
|
Romulus sets his arrow and waits for the spider to attack one of his friends again...
Ranged Aid Another Vs AC 10: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
On success, 1 Teammate + all people who share this feat gain +4 to AC.
Dasus
|
Dasus looks up as the spider comes down from above him, swinging his axe up at it — grunting with the effort of pulling his arms against the webs.
Attack with entangled: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Altovin Prynn
|
"Sen pe hwim oo thack co! oo saps unm hwennunm!"
Altovin begins calling out in another tongue when the spider attacks and steps further away...however a moment later you feel holy strength wash over you.
Cast Bless.
Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.
Bless counters and dispels bane.
| GM Abraham |
Before it has a chance to do anything to them, the Pathfinders, no doubt recalling their experiences with a similar spider just a few weeks ago, quickly tear the creature to shreds.
Combat over. Pathfinders are victorious!
For future reference (just in case you might meet some of its cousins...), Adowyn, your arrows hit, but did no damage. However, the other (slashing) attacks did full damage to it.
Also, Altovin you can keep your Bless spell since the creature was already dead before your turn came up.
With the spider dead, the Pathfinders are able to free Dasus from the entangling spider web by slicing the webs away. The room remains clogged with webbing, and the dead body still hangs ominously from the webs.
| Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
Thanks for the hint GM! ;-)
”Dasus! You really didn’t need any help ... “ Adowyn says smiling.
Following Romulus suggestions they start to use fire to get rid of the webs.
Then they walk forward and Adowyn opens the next door.
Romulus Arrowsong
|
Romulus steps into the cleared out room and sweeps his bow around the room, not trusting any of this after the spider dropped in.
Dasus
|
"These webs will take a long time to clear away by hand. Any ideas?" He looks back towards the others, relaxing as if he's sure there are no more spiders.
Romulus Arrowsong
|
Adywn stated we where going with the burn it out plan, so that's what I was going with, throw a torch in there and let the fire burn out.
Altovin Prynn
|
"Oh, I am glad that is over. Do you think there are more?" Altovin asks while they prepare to burn it out.
After it is complete he will peak in to see if there are no spiders and if so start to check the room for any other traps especially at the doors.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 1 = 14
Dasus
|
Ah, I really need to pay attention to which RSS link in my feed reader that I click. I missed the posts immediately before mine, I didn't even realize they were there.
Dasus waits while the room is cleared by fire, then moves in towards the other door as well, "Probably. We'll all take care of it, though." He smiles.
| GM Abraham |
With the spider slain, the Pathfinders are able to clear out the room without too much difficulty. There is a lot of webbing, but it succumbs to the fires that the group light, enabling them to explore the room freely, though with perhaps an unpleasant smoky flavor to the air.
Heccuba does not detect any magic in the room.
The body that was suspended from the webbing has no treasure. Elsewhere in the webs you find two longswords, five daggers, and one hand axe, all rusty but still usable. A purse containing 42 copper pieces is also caught in the web.
The clinking sound you heard earlier, you now deduce was likely a few copper pieces stuck in the webbing and being jangled together, perhaps by a hungry spider attempting to lure prey.
With the room clear, Adowyn opens the door on the far side of the room, revealing what appears to be a corridor with additional doors. Just around the corner, you can glimpse massive iron bars forming a gate of some sort.
Map updated
| Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
Adowyn and Leryn walk forward and first search for traps and open the door if they find not traps.
Adowyn Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Leryn Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
| GM Abraham |
Before they pass through the door, Adowyn notices that the floor just beyond the doorway appears to be trapped. Without disabling it, or leaping over it, there appears to be no way to pass beyond the door without setting off the trap, which appears to be connected to some kind of pit effect.
| GM Abraham |
Can Adowyn activate the trap without falling by throwing something or pulling the door with rope?
You believe that you can try to deactivate the trap (disable device), avoid triggering it (10' long jump to leap over the floor plate), or set it off by putting something as heavy as a small person on it.
| Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
"I am really sorry to say this but more is at stake here ... I believe we need to use the corpse in the room with the webs to set off the trap. Can you please help me!"
Adowyn together with the others drags the body over and together they throw the man on the trap.
Romulus Arrowsong
|
Romulus joins Adowyn and helps him. He doesn't even hesitate to grab the body.
No need to apologize Adowyn... he's long dead and gone, he ain't using his body.
He grins.
If using my dead body will keep you guys or some innocent from getting hurt, ya have my permission.
| GM Abraham |
The pathfinders throw the corpse upon the floor just through the doorway and a 10x10 trap door opens. The body tumbles through and Romulus and Adowyn can just see the rustling of something moving in the pit below before the door swings shut again.
I've moved your icons back into the previous room since none of you have actually yet crossed into the new room. I've also updated the map to show where the trap door and the pit are, though of course the door is now closed again.
Romulus Arrowsong
|
Romulus frowns.
Another spider. Let's go around, I don't feel like jumping over a spider pit today.
With that he waves to the others to go to the other door.
I say we don't risk any silliness with this, let's just go to the unexplored room, we can go through the skeleton priests room if we need to go another way.
Romulus Arrowsong
|
Romulus frowns.
Another spider in another pit. I'm starting to dislike these things.
Taking a mental layout of the map, Romulus turns and points back the way they came.
Let's take a different route... I think we can avoid that pit entirely by working our way this way.
Let's just go around the pit by going to the unexplored room. Worst case scenario we can go back to the room the skeleton priest was in and go that way. I'm not interested in risking a jump for no reason.
| GM Abraham |
The group returns back the way they have come and Adowyn attempts to open the door. It is locked, but the key that they retrieved from Gorloth (the bone priest who gave you some difficulty awhile back) opens it.
Wisps of decayed and sagging spider webs droop from the walls of this room, which appears to be empty except for the long-dead, dismembered corpse of a giant spider and a stout, freestanding wooden closet in the southwestern corner. The ceiling is covered with dusty spider webs bulging down from a grid of wooden beams and plaster fifteen feet above the floor. Faint moans and plaintive sobbing come from the closet.
Map updated and I have moved your icons to be outside the door.
Dasus
|
Dasus stares at that pit trap and says, "I agree, let's go around."
After they get back into the previous room and to the next door, he stands right behind Adowyn. He steps past Adowyn and the wolf once the door is open, again taking the lead in case there's something there that wants to eat them.
Once he hears the sobbing, however, he changes direction to walk quickly over towards the closet. "Whoever's in there, it's safe. You don't need to be afraid." He reaches to try to open up the closet door.
Sorry for the slow posting!
| GM Abraham |
Is anyone else moving into the room besides Dasus? Please put yourselves where you want to be.
Romulus Arrowsong
|
Romulus sets his arrow to his bow, just in case. He speaks low and says...
Dasus. Proclaim who you are... if they are in need of help, a Paladin's a damn good place to find it... and if they are an enemy, might as well let them know what they're dealing with.
Dasus
|
Dasus glances back to Romulus, but then nods and looks back to the closet, trying to both speak gently and loud enough to hear inside.
"My name is Dasus, I'm a Paladin of Apsu. Neither I nor any of my friends would harm an innocent."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Altovin Prynn
|
"He is speaking the truth. My name is Altovin and if it weren't for my new companions I would be hiding in there with you...those awful spiders." Altovin says coming up behind Dasus.
Diplomacy (Aid): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Romulus Arrowsong

Romulus swears loudly and aims his arrow at the beast, ready to defend his allies as he begins to tap his drum for a beat.
Ranged Aid Another Vs AC 10: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
On success, 1 Teammate + all people who share this feat gain +4 to AC.
Inspire Courage: +1 to attack and damage for everyone.
Sadly, his aim is messed up by the suddeness of the attack.
| Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
”These random attacks are awful!!!!“
Adowyn makes a small step and shoots two arrows with her composite longbow .. she avoids cover through her Deadeye Bowman training.

Romulus Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Romulus readies to attempt to aid the armor class of his first comrade who is attacked, though his aim as precise as usual, while also lending inspiration to his comrades.
Adowyn steps slightly further into the room, intending to unleash a barrage of arrows at the creature, but before she can do so another array of netting falls upon her from the ceiling.
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1 and you gain the grappled condition.
Adowyn, being grappled, you are unable to fire your bow. You still have your actions available to do something else (you can make a CMB or Escape Artist check to escape the grapple).
Leryn attempts to escape from the netting but is unable to get free.
Heccuba
|
Know religion 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
This is a zomnie, it appears to be faster than a normal zombie she says
Heccuba
|
The witch, seeing that they are going into action with something more than a spider will invoke The Lord of the 9th to protect her as fiendish armor manifests in a translucent manner and then disappears as it covers her.
Altovin Prynn
|
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Altovin can't recall anything more than what Heccuba has already shared.
He stays near Dausus but begins weaving his hands through the air and a moment later a slick substance seeps out of the ground beneath the zombie.
