Romulus Arrowsong |
Romulus nods and clasps a firm handshake with Adowyn.
Good to see another fellow bowman here in the ranks. You and I can have a sharp shooter contest at some point! But just so you know, I tend to use my arrows more to protect and muck up our enemies attacks than I do for piercing hearts.
He flips a wand around and holds it out before slotting it into a spring loaded wrist sheath.
I also am generally in charge of keeping you blokes alive, so do me a favor, and try not to make my work TO hard okay?
---------------------------------------
As they reach the bottom of the darkened stairwell, Romulus reaches into his pack and pulls out a glowing gray stone shaped like a prism. He places it against his forehead, and the thing... floats there as he releases it, gently orbiting around his head. He grins at the floating torch light.
After the nonsense of upstairs, I figured it might be a good idea to be able to make more than one light source, as well as one I don't have to keep stopping us to turn on. Anyone else need a light?
Sanite |
Sanite offers a bit of a quizzical look for the new pathfinder. "I am Sanite and I stand there and hit things with a very large hammer....while looking pretty" he says really unsure what else to say about the matter.
---------------------------
Sanite looks at the odd floating light and shakes his head. "I shall be fine, my eyes enjoy the darkness." he says as he waits till everyone appears ready and pushes the door open.
He takes one last look at the fresh stain and cracked floor and shakes his head. "Senseless violence..." he mutters.
Dasus |
Dasus laughs as he sees the light, and says, "I picked up one of those as well. Not that I need it, but having my allies able to see the difference between our enemies and me is probably a good thing."
He also has a brand-new greataxe, shield (strapped to his back) and new, more substantial banded armour instead of his old scale mail. The only pieces of his original gear that he seems to have left are his smaller battle axe, his waterskin, and the pack he left behind at the campsite.
At the introductions, the half-orc gives a bow, and says, "I am Dasus, a Paladin of Apsu, at your service."
Activating his own ioun stone, he picks up his large axe and follows after Sanite.
Heccuba |
Greetings Andowyn. I am Heccuba, Daughter of Cheliax and devotee of the Prince of Darkness. I provide arcane support to this group of adventurers as well as knowledge about different situations. she says.
Book pops up on her shoulders and hisses at the wolf This is Book. she says as she pets him to calm him down.
Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
"Easy Leryn, we do not have to like all of them but they are our pack in this god forsaken place! So you will have their back!" Adowyn says with harsh voice in the direction of Leryn ... who takes a couple of steps back from Heccuba.
Hakon - Iconic Skald |
Hakon looks at the other group members, then looks at Leryn and starts walking to the door to the southeast that is slightly ajar.

Romulus Arrowsong |
Romulus sights down the hallway and runs a finger along his drum.
Wouldn't be surprised if this hallway is trapped... it's where I would stick a trap at least. Anyone any good with finding traps? Or are we just gonna have to send Sanite and hope nothing breaks him?
Sanite |
Sanite looks at Romulus like he's been insulted "It is bad form to lay a curse upon someone like you did."
He took a small pause, drew his Earthbreaker, took a deep breathe, and strode out into the hallway.
Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
"I am sure he did not mean it that way Sanite!" Adowyn says with a scolding look in the direction of Romulus.
"I will walk behind you with Leryn. Come let us go!" she says to Leryn.
Can someone please move our icons - it does not work on my phone at the moment. :-( Thanks!
Romulus Arrowsong |
Romulus shakes his head as the others walk forward.
Sarcasm you guys, Sarcasm! I was hoping that WASN'T our plan of action... but if that's all we got.
He pulls his bow and arrow tight... it wont do much against pits, but a swinging blade might be turned aside...
Heccuba |

Dasus |
Dasus hesitates only a moment, apparently only out of confusion at Romulus'suggestion. After a moment, though, he shakes his head and walks up, catching up to the others and then approaches the door to the left, taking a moment to listen for any noises that might be coming from beyond it.
Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
Sanite |
Perception if we're all looking: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Sanite pauses at the intersection and looks back at the others, he jerks his head to the left and turns towards it. He wasn't sure just how many ways there were to get ambushed or flanked but the left seemed the safest bet compared to going tot he end of the hall.
GM Volandis |
Sanite opens the door. Inside you can all see that a curving wall of glowing green crystal bulges out into the chamber from one corner. A stout wooden table stands along the wall opposite it. On the table lie three rotting human corpses and the remnants of a moon spider. One of the human corpses has had all of its extremities severed, and its torso has been opened to reveal the internal organs. Another dismembered corpse has moon spider legs sewn onto the stumps in place of the removed limbs, all of which are neatly arranged near the rest of the moon spider. A bucket full of reeking, old blood sits on the floor under the table, and needles with lengths of silken thread attached are stuck in a hand-sized block of bloodstained wax atop the table.
Heccuba |
There is nothing magical that I can detect other than what we carry with us she states.
As they walk into the room she will continue to concentrate on her magic spell.
Sanite |
Sanite would blanch if he could. This sight was abhorrent. Honestly, he knew not what to do to find these men comfort in Gozreh's embrace. "It would be best to simply burn these corpses. Their meat would harm wildlife and plants alike. Their ash will at least provide minerals for the soil." he said staring for a minute before stepping inside and allowing the others to see better.
Romulus Arrowsong |
Romulus is a battle hardened soldier, and even he looks off put by what he sees.
Can't burn them in here though. We'll bring them up with us once we clear this level out.
With that, he moves in, carefully, to inspect the corpses and try to gather more info on what happened to them.

Adowyn - Iconic Hunter |
"This is truly disgusting! But we need to look at this in more detail. Leryn let us check out this place ... use your nose."
perception Adowyn: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
perception Leryn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 +8 if scent can be used withing 30ft
Dasus |
Dasus growls as he sees the corpses, and how they were treated. "This is more than disgusting, this is horrifying. Whoever did this..." he trails off.
He looks up to Sanite, however, and says, "Yes. Burning them would be best. And, bringing them justice."
GM Volandis |
As everyone moves up Leryn steps further into the middle of the room. There is a CLICK from the floor, then a cage smashes down on the wolf. It barely misses Dasus and Sanite but hit's the wolf on the way down. Leryn's fast reactions means he ends up outside of the cage but is still quite badly hurt.

From inside the cage a dangling form drops down from a harness. Now trapped on it's own inside the cage, a skeleton slashes a rather ineffectual claw at Adowyn.

I'll be taking an AoO unless Adowyn moved in some manner. Then I'd have only needed a 5ft to reach him.
Dasus |
Dasus leans back on his heels as the cage comes crashing down, taking in a quick breath of surprise. He raises his axe when the skeleton reveals itself, but it's out of reach.
He starts to move around the cage, but before he takes a step he reaches down to touch the injured wolf while muttering a soft prayer, then continues on and around the cage to get into a better position.

Once again, Dasus finds himself on the opposite side of the cage from the skeleton. This time, however, there is no room for him to approach it.
Instead of the any of the more tactically sound things he could do, he reaches forward to try to grab the cage and shove it aside.
I don't care in the slightest if this works, I expect the cage to be very heavy. It just seemed the thing that my low wisdom character would try to do. :-)
Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
GM Volandis |
Adowyn swings a club at the skeleton, but she finds that she creature is already falling apart again from her companion ripping the skeleton's leg off.
Everyone is slightly nervous for a few moments that the skeleton may rise yet again, but this time the bones remain still.
COMBAT OVER
Now that the room is safe the group inspects the table. You all find a lump of wax with 6 needles jabbed in it, each needles has around 3 feet of silk thread attached to it. There are also 2 identical potion vials and a scroll case. Inside the case are 2 different magical scrolls and a sheet of parchment. The parchment has an arcane symbol drawn on it that is labeled with a single word in an ancient language.
One of you also notices that there is another arcane symbol carved into the spire here.
They are Potions of Cure Moderate Wounds.
Scroll of Fireball.
Scroll of Fly.
The symbol is similar to an arcane mark and is labeled "Four".[/i]

Romulus raises a eyebrow as he peruses the scrolls.
Fly... and fireball. Worthy spells indeed. Heccuba, I don't suppose your magic can handle tossing around a fireball if need? It's not a speciality of mind.
Romulus sniffs the potion and furrows his brwo.
Drat... tip of my tongue... i know what it is i just.... gah, it's escaping me.
He looks at the mark and tilts his head a bit in confusion.
Four. Hm. Wonder what it means.
GM Volandis |
There is another unique symbol engraved on the wall of the green spire here. You have now seen 4 different symbols. The other scroll from the goblin priest's bedroom was labelled as "six" and the fort had a symbol engraved on the green spire too. I think that's enough evidence to assume each symbol uniquely identifies each level, though why that would be needed is not apparent at this time.
