Hi everybody! I'm Andrew. I've gamed with some of you before, some I haven't yet had the pleasure. I'm looking forward to running your adventure!
This will be a Normal Mode PFS (not Core) game. We'll be starting as soon as folks are ready. Upkeep business:
1. Please post here in the Discussion with the following info:
Character Name
PFS # XXXXX-X
Faction
Day Job roll (or "No Day Job")
Initiative mod
Perception mod
2. If you haven't done so already, please put a few of your stats into your character subheading. Please include current/total hit points, armor class (all three), CMD, saving throw modifiers, initiative modifier, and perception modifier. Feel free to add other stuff, such as per diem spells or ki points or expendable other resources.
2. On your character's page, please include a stat block or link or some other arrangement so that I can find your character's full stats in some fashion. Stat block is easiest for me but if you have a preferred arrangement (such as a link to your character sheet), that's fine too.
3. Introduce yourselves and your characters in-character in the gameplay thread. Thanks for getting us started on that!
Secondly, a few basic expectations:
1. A quick-moving thread is more fun for everyone. Please post at least once per day, and the more the merrier. Take your time and roleplay your hearts out, but do post regularly and keep the game moving. I'll make sure to do the same. If you know you'll be unable to post for a while, please let us all know here and consider giving march orders to the party (especially if we're in combat) and know that the game will likely still keep moving.
2. I've gotten pretty familiar with the PFS/Pathfinder rules over the years, but obviously I haven't dealt regularly with every class or situation. So if you are concerned that I've messed up somewhere in a way that really impacts gameplay (which is entirely possible), please feel free to raise the issue here in the Discussion thread or privately and I'll do my best to correct the issue. It's all about learning!
3. Please pay attention to text formatting and the thread tabs. Use Gameplay for gameplay and Discussion for non-gameplay discussion. Use the [b] tag and quotes for in-character speech and the [ooc] tag for out-of-character commentary. Use spoiler tags when necessary and open them only when appropriate.
4. Initiative! I've fiddled with a few different initiative systems and I think I've found one I like--you can act when your name is bolded at the bottom of my most recent initiative post. If you need to post out of turn due to limited internet access later or something similar, please put your whole turn in a spoiler so that everyone else (including me) can ignore it until it's your turn.
5. If you cast a spell on a baddie, please tell me the save and DC as appropriate so that I don't have to try to dig it out of your statblock. Same goes for other similar effects.
6. Have fun and be the awesome Pathfinders you are!

Alright, (7+8+6+6+5+5+6)/7=6.14, so we're solidly lower tier.
If Baal or Nokazi have lower level characters they'd like to switch out for, please feel free to do so! Otherwise, we'll get started!
Baal-Hostem |
I've got a 4 and a 9... this is my only one somewhat in the range we need :P

Sounds good!

@ Tarquin, an FYI: I'll allow it in this case due to the commotion on the stairs (providing an opportunity to draw it), but ordinarily I will require you to have the medlance in your hand to use it as a move action. Plan accordingly! :)
Tarquin-RK |
With my tail I can draw it as a swift action^^. But you are right of course. Apoligies.

That works too! No worries.

Ok, leaving for the airport (to go to PAX East in Boston) in ~4 hours (I should be asleep), I'll get in posts tomorrow, then no posts till Monday/Tuesday.

Summary of what's happened (because spoilers are a little annoying to follow):
- The party fought off the Pure Legion after Baal started a fight by casting obscuring mist at them.
- Tarri eventually came running from her post at the back door.
- All the legionnaires were left alive.
- Kline escorted everyone through a secret door into Azir's undercity, where most of the party is now discussing the Riftwarden situation with him.
- Kargen and Oriandor snuck upstairs to retrieve everyone's stuff
- There has been no contact between the upstairs party and the downstairs party so far.
We're a little bit off the rails right now, but so long as everyone's okay with it and isn't in a rush for some reason, I'd like to play it out. Thoughts/questions?

Spoiler edit :P

Shhh! They don't yet know you're not coming back! :)

Here's a little summary of what happened for those interested:
After the fight in the Bathhouse, Kargen/Oriandor went upstairs to retrieve gear while everyone else went into the Undercity to interview Kline. Kargen/Oriandor scared off a Bathhouse attendant and got all the gear out of the lockers, but realized that the Legionnaires would be waking up soon and skedaddled, finding a quiet cafe to have lunch and wait for things to blow over. Meanwhile, the main group learned where the Riftwardens were being held (at the hands of their arch enemies, the Blackfire Adepts, posing as slavers).
Then both groups went out to do a little research and found that everyone was wanted in connection with the 'Jistka Bathhouse Incident' and made sure to do the rest of their research quietly. Tarquin sent Navi to investigate the Blackfire compound, finding about a dozen guards and other individuals but nearly dying at the hands of something fire-breathing.
Meanwhile, Kargen/Oriandor tried to learn what the other group already knew simply by asking around about Riftwardens, but didn't have any luck--even when visiting Azir's arcane colleges. Eventually, they decide it's best to try hiring somebody to scry on their fellow party members via the stuff they've gathered so that they can learn the main party's current location and meet them.
Just as they're searching for a scrying wizard, Tarquin sent Navi out to look in various taverns and bars. Her search happened to bring her nearby the slinking Pathfinder pair (I rolled probabilities); she spotted them and introduced herself, finally bringing you all together again.
And now we're back on the rails!

FYI, I'm going to roll everybody's saves for this battle (at least) because otherwise it's going to take forever with all the back and forth. If you have a legal re-roll, please feel free to use it and we'll ret-con as best we can.

In case it's going through anybody's mind:
Port Godless provides a great deal of flexibility for the GM concerning combat encounters in this half of the adventure. While I could be throwing this much stuff this rapidly at a five-member team of 5th levels, I wouldn't. You all have more firepower than that, so you get the bigger challenge.
I'm aiming to challenge the party as best I can without (unduly*) killing anybody. So far I think that's mostly going well?
* 'Unduly' meaning that if the party does something particularly stupid, it might not go well. Nobody's come close to that so far. :)
