Davosh the Wanderer |

Hey guys sorry for my being MIA. It's been a crazy couple of weeks. I am still 100% committed to seeing this ENTIRE thing through. That being said, this is currently confusing due to the nature of teleporting into a combat in progress. DMTS, can we do one summary post of the current situation so we can get back in the smoothly moving saddle?

GM thunderspirit |

Sure.
Everyone except Ali (and the NPCs) are through, so they can all see the woman about 15' up in the air behind a wind wall that rises floor to ceiling and runs from the curved wall to the aerie opening.
The raven swarm is still all over Vojtek (who needs to make a Reflex and a Fortitude save before acting this turn).
Every square with any part of the wire triangle in it is considered difficult terrain.
The party is up (Vojtek needs two saves as above), followed by Ali stepping through the teleport crystal.

Davosh the Wanderer |

...and What's her deal, is she seemingly directing the swarm, tied up, giving orders, demanding our surrender, asking for our help, etc?
Davosh will cast Ear-Piercing Scream and direct it at her depending on the answers to the questions above. Despite this, Davosh will still try to talk her down, "Who are you? We are goodly folk, there is no need for violence!"
Spell: she takes 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 sonic damage and is Dazed for 1 round. Fort DC 18 Fortitude to take half damage and avoid the Daze.

GM thunderspirit |

Yeah, about that...my Great Vanishing Post addressed that, but my second one evidently did not. Whoops.
She is decidedly angry, and at the very least started the swarm that now flaps all over Vojtek like a classic Hitchcock film.

GM thunderspirit |

Who is up?

Vojtek fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Vojtek ref: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 <--man wish I rolled that well for ME!!
Ali steps thru, and takes in the scene. Keeping now in 1 hand and sword in the other she closes with the floating witch
i can't see map from work. Can someone move me?

Davosh the Wanderer |

This is Davosh's turn.

RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |

OK so a thorough re-reading of the above lead me to believe it is Vojtek's turn… I think.
Vojtek snaps out at the flock with his jagged dentition and manages to crunch some feathery appendage or other, the salty blood dribbling over his chin and down his neck is not all his own.
A black feather affixed crazily to the corner of his mouth looks like a religious fetish of some sort as Vojtek continues his crazed attack.
Full attack
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 - 1 = 23 for 2d6 + 11 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 11 + 3 = 19 damage.
and a Bite for good measure!
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage!
The massive Greatsword swings through the fluttering, flapping madness and straight towards the evil woman. Vojtek's gnashing teeth follow close behind as the maniacal barbarian does his worst.

GM thunderspirit |

DC 18 Fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
The woman takes the damage but is clearly not dazed!
Vojtek's blade and maw tear into the swarm with some effectiveness, though neither weapon does nearly as much damage as he thinks they should!

Edward and Kappi!

![]() |

Edward see's the effectiveness of Kappi's fire. Seeing that his friend has stepped into the visible invisible wind wall. He pulls out his last Alchemical fire and throws it at the flock of Ravens. Kappi has another stone ready and breaks this vial too.
With the flask thrown, Edward moves a bit to the east.
Flask o fire: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Vojtek Heals 5 from Edwards life link (not sure if that is the correct HP for Vojtek or not.) Edward HP 26/31

Kappi Matarito |

ROUND: who knows
Having thrown his last Molotov cocktail in the raven swarm, the young rogue can do no more. On the move he draws his cold iron tomahawk. He tucks his head as the powerful winds send his clothes flapping. Covering his eyes for a moment w/ his left hand he pushes through the windwall. With little skill but full of speed he slashes at the strange blue woman w/ his ax. On the next round he hopes to move into flanking position w/ his comrade Vojtek.
melee attack! 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
cold iron tomahawk 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

![]() |

In the interest of moving things forward. I know real life has thrown us some hickups, but we started this combat on March 31st.
Init repost:
Woman: 21
Edward: 19
Vojtek: 17
Ali: 16
RS: 14
Kappi: 10
Davosh: 8
So for whatever round this is, I think Ali is all that is left on the players side, and RS left on enemy side. We currently have Davosh exploring real liffe ruins, and Vojtek in Paris or London.

GM thunderspirit |

Yup. Incidentally, I hate them both right now. LOL
Edward's flask does significant damage to the swarm, but it continues to, well, swarm!
Kappi, the woman is 15' in the air. I'm okay with you throwing the axe instead since you're through the wall, though it'll still miss. And Ali posted her move action above.
Correct initiative order:
woman
raven swarm
Vojtek
Kappi
Edward
Davosh
Ali
The woman casts a spell!
Vojtek, Kappi, Edward, and Davosh each take 1d8 ⇒ 6 sonic damage as a tremendous cacophony blasts them! Each must also make a DC 14 Fort save to avoid being stunned for 1 round!
The swarm then descends on Davosh and Vojtek!
They each take 1d6 ⇒ 4 damage, plus must make a DC 14 Reflex save to avoid being blinded AND a DC 14 Fortitude save to avoid being nauseated!
Party up, after saves!

Map is listed above non, but here is the link for convience
Also DM question, but since there is a wind wall there and the swarm is just tiny creatures doesn't that break it up, or not allow them to enter the area?
Edward's Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Edward Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Edward's HP 20/31

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Thanks Edward. I could not see the Aerie link on my phone but I see it on my home 'puter. Stupid 'putters.
the save results won't change my action...
Ali shifts to the right (5' step), sheathes her sword (move action), and extends a spread hand at the swarm, directing it away from her friends. Jets of fire shoot from her fingertips...
Cast Burning Hands making sure I don't catch Davosh or Vojtek.
Fire damage: 3d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) = 4 <--Ref DC 14 for half. Phlucking awesome rolls not.

GM thunderspirit |

Also DM question, but since there is a wind wall there and the swarm is just tiny creatures doesn't that break it up, or not allow them to enter the area?
Individual animals yes. But swarms don't work that way.

GM thunderspirit |

the save results won't change my action...
Fair enough, but the Fort save is to avoid being stunned (and thus losing all actions this round).

Davosh the Wanderer |

In the air. I have pictures from the Mwangi Expanse. Can someone roll for me?

Davosh the Wanderer |

Fort save part 2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Well that sucks! Davosh is out...

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi Fort save 20
Edward Fort save 14
Davosh Fort save 20
Not stunned!
Vojtek Fort save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Also not stunned!
Davosh Refl save 12
Davosh Fort save 8
Davosh is blinded and nauseated!
Vojtek Refl save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Vojtek Fort save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Vojtek is not!

GM thunderspirit |

Ali blasts the sylph with fire!
Refl save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
She dodges much of the flame, but does not escape unscathed!
As Davosh retches puts his hands to his bloody eyes, Kappi, Edward, and Vojtek can act!

The woman shrieks in anger as Ali scorches the swarm! LEAVE MY BIRDS ALONE!

Edward gives the blessing of Wayfinder to Davosh. May the fortitude of Wayfinder be with you Davosh. Recover quickly friend.
Edward also opens the door behind him.
Swift action LOH Self current HP 30/31, Vojtek would heal another 5, but I think he is undamaged
LoH Self: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10

Kappi Matarito |

Im assuming the sylph is still 15 feet up. If she is on the ground this will be a melee attack and flanking with Vojtek.
Kappi takes a 5 foot step and hurls his cold iron tomahawk at the dangerous fey creature.
Throwing attack 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 1 = 22
Cold iron throwing ax 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 5

Kappi Matarito |

posting for adam/vojtek, he is trying to write a paper for school or something...
Vojtek howls in rage at this woman who not only throws magic like a weakling but now flies up into the air so he cant cleave her in twain with his great sword. With another cry of frustration the barbarian grabs his flail and spins it in the air. Once, twice, a third time and then he lets it fly at the damned sylph!
Throwing attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 not sure what penaulty to add for throwing a non throwing weapon
Flail 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 8) + 5 = 16
Teeth gnashing the barbarian bites at the ravens. Show these weakling birds how to bite!
Bite attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Jaws de Vojtek 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

GM thunderspirit |

Vojtek finds the flail unwieldy for throwing (-4 for an improvised weapon, at the very least), but his toothy maw finishes the raven swarm! Kappi's tomahawk finds its mark, however!
With a scream born of a fury Vojtek could appreciate, the woman's hand glows yellow and she flings an arc of lightning at Vojtek, which then flashes to Ali, catching Kappi in between!
Lightning arc to Ali, Kappi, Vojtek: 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 4) + 3 = 10 DC 14 Refl save for half
She remains 15' up.
Party up!

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh pukes violently. Sadly it's not a swarm of spiders, but rather a bunch of groceries. He is blind, however, and doesn't see how gross it is. (Do I know the duration? )
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM thunderspirit |

It's actually 1d4 days >.<, but a successful Heal check out of combat can alter that time frame.
At the end of this turn, Davosh is no longer nauseated.

Kappi Matarito |

Reflex powers activate! 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
The young rogue slips to the side and awkwardly dodges (or maybe just had a violent muscle spasm, its hard to tell). Kappi lets out a little yelp from the electric shock.

Round who knows: Vojtek, and Edwards Actions
Vojtek
Vojtek's Reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Success 5pts damage
With his teeth clacking in bloodlust the furious north man screams at her. The White flew away, you won't have that opportunity. He bites down on his greatsword and runs underneath the her and vaults up onto the storage shelf next to the wall giving him plenty height to attack the flying woman.
Acrobatics to gain the height: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Maybe maybe not
Vojtek Climb or attack roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 +3 more if it is an attack roll
Vojtek Greatsword damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 6) + 11 = 18
Attack if he needed to climb: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 See damage above
Edwards actions
Edward lets his life link with Vojtek work, trusting that Ali and Kappi are fine. He draws his bow, knocking an arrow. He then readies himself to fire when the (in)visible windwall disapates. Which he hopes to be soon.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 -4 if she is in Melee
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Vojtek heal 5, Edward take 5 25/31hp
This is a tough fight, the designers of this module have made it very deadly. At least a 6th level Cleric to have 3d6 lightning arc air domain power. Cuz minimum damage on the 5th level arcane spell version is 10d6 so she's not arcane

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

ROUND 3
Ref: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 <--blaaaaargh
Ali's hair stands on end as she is barbecued by the lightning stroke. She shakes her head, lips flapping, and moves through the wind wall, beneath the flying sylph. There she drops her sword, imbues her bow with her innate arcane power, nocks a cold iron arrow, and lets fly.
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Cold Iron damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4
Wow. Holy poor rolling. This seems a depressing trend...

GM thunderspirit |

Well, she's a sylph so she uses her domain power at +1 caster level, and she's got the Magical Knack trait which kicks it up another couple of levels.
The wind wall is rounds/level, and (believe it or not, cos I went back and checked) it's been two rounds since she cast it.
Davosh hurls!
Kappi evades the arcing lightning! He chucks an axe in response, and hits the flying nun cleric!
Vojtek leaps up to slash at her but catches his foot as he jumps. His subsequent Climb check gets him atop the teetering shelf (but can't attack since the Acrobatics check is a Move action and the Climb is a Standard. But he does threaten her now.), which groans under his weight!
Edward readies a bow shot!
Ali's arrow clatters harmlessly on the floor!
(high is not broken: 1d100 ⇒ 46)
Realizing that the barbarian is now all up in her biznatch, the woman drifts backward (five-foot step w/fly), draws a scroll, and uses it!
JS 14
Party up!

Davosh the Wanderer |

I can't do much without being able to see, not even Hex. I don't know if this is a FRA or more, but I'll try to use my water to flush out my eyes and regain vision.
Heal Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

GM thunderspirit |

Hmm, nothing says you can't perform the DC 20 Heal check on yourself, so I'mma rule that a success.
Since there's no indication of time taken in the book, though, I'll say it's a full round action (rather than, say, like treating wounds from caltrops, which would seem at least more similar than applying a tourniquet), so: Move action to draw the waterskin; Standard this round and Standard next to administer the Heal check; Move action available next round.

Kappi Matarito |

The Varisian lad is getting frusterated with this fight. He begins to feel some of his barabarian friend's rage, but the lad keeps it under wraps. He remembers his uncle's lessons and keeping a clear head ready to adapt to the situation was always a priority.
With Vojtek kept from using his brawny might and his friends feeling the effects of the sylph's magic, Kappi sees it as up to him to bring her down.
With another tomahawk in hand he steps into a hard throw and lets fly at the deadly little fey creature. Even as the handle leaves his hand he has the momentary zen feeling that his ax will go exactly where he wants it.
Throwing attack, deadly aim 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 - 1 = 27
