Noticing the reactions of his friends has him question why the Lady is here. Not feeling any evil from her is consistant from before. Better to ask a question.
My apologies Lady. I just like the others are shocked to see you here. I didn't know you had opened negotiations with the land of Irrisen. For you to be here your daughter must have recovered. So she's recovered?

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh gives Kappi the "Good Game" to celebrate Edward's fine question. He has a smile that indicates that he's proud of himself for using an Andoran custom.

Kappi Matarito |

Kappi brushes off Davosh as politely as he can with a short sword in hand. The rogue decides to ignore Lady Argentina for the moment and he concentrates on searching the room.
Does this look like a guard room or the proper chambers for a fine Lady?
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Kappi obviously cant quite concentrate with a fine Lady in such a suprise spot.

GM thunderspirit |

My daughter? I have no daughter, Lady Argentea says, then pauses a moment. ...or do I? So many of my memories have been stolen away since I have been help prisoner here!
E: 1d20 + 6 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 10 = 27
K: 1d20 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 10 = 29
D: 1d20 + 0 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 0 + 10 = 26
V: 1d20 + 0 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 0 + 10 = 16
There is definitely something fishy about Lady Argentea's claim to have lost her memory.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh snaps back from his mental conversation with the agents to examine the lady more carefully. He keeps an eye on Kappi to see if the rogue's hunch about the decor bears fruit. "My lady, we spent time with you. After your arrival in town, what was the last thing you remember?"
Davosh turns to the barbarian. "Vojtek, this could take a while. Please watch the door."
The mystic turns back to the lady, "I'm going to give you a close look my dear..." Davosh's magic eye opens fully, and he gazes with hex of the ancients (Affecting Saving Thows). "...And spare no detail."

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Ali takes advantage of Davosh's ploy, and steps closer to the "Lady", smiling widely and hand extended in a friendly gesture. Yes, trust Davosh as you always have...we're here to help! She tries to surreptitiously position herself to allow for a quick flank with someone in case things get hairy.

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek turns to face the door. Once he is facing away he rolls his eyes at the whole absurd interaction.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Bluff: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8 Davosh does NOT give himself an Andoran celebration...

GM thunderspirit |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Unsurprisingly, Davosh is less than convincing with his attempt to hide his Evil Eye. As he begins, Lady Agrenta reacts violently, disrupting his concentration and triggering initiative!
Lady Argentea: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Ali: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Davosh: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Edward: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Kappi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Vojtek: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The Lady suddenly lashes out with claws that seem to spring from her hands out of nowhere! As she does so, her face twists and contorts, changing into a grayish humanoid creature, with a narrow head, gaunt limbs, and a sinister, noseless face!
The creature attacks 1 A, 2 D: 1d2 ⇒ 2!
claw 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
dmg 1: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Round One
Though a little off his game, Lady Argentina turning into a monster makes things easy for the rogue. He doesn't have to bother w/ talking anymore. His sword is already in hand. With his quick reflexes he attacks.
flanking w/ Ali 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 2 = 21

Sorry for the delay folks. Been one hell of a ride for a Friday the 13th
Edward Round 1[/ooc]
Edward witnesses the shape change of this grey thing. The slashes appear on our witch. Edward links with him, then uses his CLW wand on Davosh.
[b]Davosh step away from there, Vojtek there's killin that's needed in the room
CLW to Davosh: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Standard CLW wand, Move Switch lifelink to Davosh. Round totals: Davosh Heal 14. Edward take 5 so 24/31 remaining

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

ROUND 1
Seeing as Ali was closing specifically for this reason, it's obvious she's close enough to draw her blade and strike at the creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 <--what the what?!?!
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek stares intently at the open door, waiting for some sort of an incredible monstrosity to come crashing through after the group. He tunes out the conversation behind him and just allows his mind to wander back to the tundra.
Suddenly, his reverie is broken by Edward's pronouncement.
In a flash, Vojtek spins with his blade poised before him. He sprints into the small chamber, barrels past Davosh and the foe, he slices her through the midsection as he flies past her.
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 1 + 2 = 26 for 2d6 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2) + 8 + 2 = 18 damage.
ok so in game mechanics, he stopped in his square and the attacked, but in my brain he ran past and sliced her on the way by.

GM thunderspirit |

Edward cures Davosh while the Warlock eyes the creature evilly!
DC 17 Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
The creature shakes off the worst of the hex!
Kappi waits not-so-patiently for Ali to step up and flank with him! When she does, her blade misses entirely, but his strikes home!
Vojtek, shaken from his ennui, ferociously slashes the thing, and it falls at his feet as he races through the room!
Out of (anti-climactic) combat! :-)
A thorough search of the room finds a number of books on Taldan noble lines and history, as well as a couple of treatises on etiquette and noble customs. None appear particularly rare or to have a great deal of intrinsic value.

As Kappi stands there cleaning monster blood off of his magic short sword he ponders. So, Lady Argentina... She wasn't always a monster in disguise right? I mean to think of all the trouble we went over her in the first place. He scrunches up his face as he thinks some more. ...Though that was probably the coolest adventure I'd ever had... So alls well that ends well...
The rogue shakes the thought from his simple mind and gets back to work.
Kappi leads the way back out to undiscovered room. I"m going to move everyone on the map. Please fix your guys (or elfmaid) if you like

Brilliant!
After nodding sagely, Vojtek grunts assent to Kappi. A strange adventure indeed, but now that its over, Vojtek is anxious to continue on his quest.
Would you you men like to accompany me in search of The White? Ali, you could come too.

So...we've searched the entire tower? I was expecting a witch of some flavor...
Ali, you could come too.
Ali stops for a beat, then puts on a concerned, fretful look. I dunno, Vojtek; I'd love to, only if you think I could handle it. Maybe I could just hide behind you?

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh stares at everyone. "gentlemen, there is a lot left to do here."

Davosh stares at everyone. "gentlemen, there is a lot left to do here."

Yes, we have at least this last room. (Look at map) Maybe more. If we are all ready, lets do it.

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi checks the door carefully, then opens it.
Several tables, covered in flowering plants and decorative figurines both large and small, occupy the corners of this brightly lit large room. A large mirror hangs on the northwestern wall, while another set of double doors leads north.
Kappi quickly notes that the angles of the ice in the walls and ceiling of this room direct sunlight to feed the collection of plants here. He also notes something moving in the corner; it looks like a small, wide-mouthed fat child fashioned from leaves, vines, tree bark, dirt, and pallid tubers. It appears to be chained to the wall!
This is a mandragora, a foul creature which rises spontaneously from a mandrake root that has drawn nutrition from the corpse or ichor of a demon. It has plant traits, its touch is poisonous, and drains blood from its hapless victims.
A mandragora is resistant to acid, cold, and particularly electricity damage. It has vulnerability to supernatural darkness and possesses an unsettling shriek which can cause nausea.

Round One
Kappi moves swiftly into the room. Ahh! Crazy looking plant child thingee... he lamely warns the others.
The rogue notes the chains on the plant child. Is he just a prisoner? Or is he dangerous to everyone?
The rogue does not want to attack a potential ally, he keeps his blade in hand and tries to be ready in case the plant child turns out to be a threat.
Delay

GM thunderspirit |

You can't move and Delay; but you can move and Ready. I'll give Kappi a readied Standard action to chuck his axe, even though you normally have to identify a trigger and then an action.
The plant creature swells up and threatens the party. That's enough for Kappi, who flings a tomahawk at the plant!
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The axe bounces harmlessly off its tough, bark-like skin!
The creature emits a horrifying, unsettling shriek!
DC 15 Will save or become nauseated for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds!
The creature then moves up alongside Kappi!

Knowledge: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Davosh does his best attempt at mimicking it. He strikes the Evil Eye (affecting saves) at the beastie. Then the mystic gets ready with a screech that WILL affect it.... hopefully.

Round 1 Edward
Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12[ooc]<~~~~lolz a +8 and I still failed
With the sound of the crazy plant child thing ringing in his head, Edward gets the sympathy heaves with everyone but the strong witch. The Paladin's grocery shout has the fresh stew on top from the bite he tasted in the dining hall earlier.
move action to grab tallow from the candle he has. Install Tallow next round in ears.

GM thunderspirit |

Yep, nauseated just might be the worst non-death effect in the game.
Mini-update:
Davosh attempts to evilly eye the plant while Kappi, Edward, and Vojtek all redecorate the conservatory with this morning's breakfast. But alas, he finds he cannot affect the plant's mind!

It's the baddie's turn to go, then you guys.
I am currently trying to unbury myself at work but will attempt to get an update up sometime today.

damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 plus a free grab attempt!
grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Kappi finds the creature's thorny, viney fingers wrapping about him and holding him fast!
Party up!

Kappi Matarito |

Round 2
The rogue's stomach turns again and where he hurled the first round he fears he may lose control of his bowels next. His immediate fears over crapping his pants in front of his friends are sidelined as he is attacked by the plant demon. He manages to somehow dodge the first two attacks, maybe it was more luck while he quickly bent over to vomit. But he couldn't managed to fend off the creature as it grabbed and bit him.
He calls weakly to his comrades, ...little help?
no real action other than trying not to soil himself

Davosh the Wanderer |

Round 2
Davosh looks about and wonders why his teammates are vomiting. The scream wasn't THAT bad... If the Big Eye didn't work, let's fight fire with fire, or sound with sound.
Davosh opens his mouth wide and inhales like he's going to give a banchee's wail, but no sound comes out... unless you're the enemy.
Ear Piercing Scream: FORT DC 17. Fail = 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 sonic damage and dazed for one round. Pass = no Daze, and half damage.

Round 2 Edward

current HP 21/31. Kappi should be full

GM thunderspirit |

Mini-update:
DC 17 Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
The creature shudders slightly as Davosh's magic takes its full toll!
Since everyone except Davosh is limited to move actions or less for one more round, and the enemy is dazed for a round itself, everyone can move, draw, whatever; and Davosh gets another full round to try and save the party!

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

ROUND 2
Current conditions: nauseated round 2 of 3
Ali moves into the room, breathing quickly to keep her stomach under control--and sort of succeeding. she's unable to concentrate enough to take a shot on the beastie yet.

Davosh the Wanderer |

[b]Davosh's free round[/dice]
Davosh quickly goes over casts a spell of Guidance on Kappi.
In a move of desperation he beseeches his beloved Liska to help him out also.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

GM thunderspirit |

can Kappi take any action to try and free himself from the embrace of the plant creature?
Not until he gets a Standard action back, sorry.
Davosh shuffles over to the grappled rogue and gives him a guidance in between heaves. The dazed creature does not take an AoO.
Davosh is up (with move actions for everyone else) and then...
snack time — maintain grapple vs. CMD 13: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Davosh tries the move primitive means of persuasion, and finds his attack with the unfamiliar weapon hits his foe! It also deals damage! FULL damage, in fact!
Liska knows she is not meant for this life, and pulls away from the creature at the last moment, sensibly ducking between Davosh's legs to hide.

Now having the wax tallow in his ear, Edward witnesses Davosh take an awkward but effective swing against the plant life. Taking position next to the Witch.. Ok no more wild swings keep ya balance and ya will do fine. We can work this as a team. Now Plant Fiend let my friend go.
Remember no AoO's for Kappi or Enemy while there's a grapple going on. I think Ali is on Auto Pilot, so she could move to flank easily, and leave room for Vojtek.

Kappi Matarito |

I got a little confused on round order. I'm going to go ahead and post. I figure it shouldn't make a difference in anyone's actions.
Round 3-4?
Now that Kappi has spewed the entire contents of his stomach he feels much better. As his head is starting to clear he realizes the plant child demon thing is still biting at him.
Ooowww! Are you biting me? That really hurts...
The young Varisian though isn't really a wrestler per se, did get quite a bit of practice rough housing w/ all the other boys. And he did remember the tricks his cousin Giovanni taught him. He gave a little twist to drop his weight and started to squirm out of the hold...
Kappi tries to break the grapple by squirming loose.
