Apropos of nothing, I'm running a One-Shot adventure for game-day. Sign up is HERE
NG | Gnome Rogue 6 | AC 22 Nimble Dodge | HP 74/74 | Resistance: Negative 2, Fire 5 | Fort(T) +11 | Ref(E) +14 | Will(E) +11 | Perc: +11 (+13 Init)| Low-Light Vision | Speaks Azlanti | CrossBow Bolts: 10 | Acro(E) +14, Arcn(T) +11, Athl(T) +7, Crft(T) +11, Dcptn(E) +12, Dplmcy(T) +10, Intim(U) +2, Lore: Eng./Azlant(E) +13, Med(E) +11, Occult(T) +11, Prfrmnc(T) +10, Society(T) +11, Stlth(E)) +14, Thvry(E) +14
Errrrr, what is game-day? Is this a Paizo thing?
Yes. Game Day is essentially a Pathfinder Society/Starfinder Society Play-by-Post convention, where a bunch of PBP games all get started on the same day and have to finish by a certain date. The game I'm running is a one-shot with pregens. I -think- guns are involved, but I really know nothing about it. By the way, my table is now full but there are something like 30 tables of that one-shot going, plus many, many others.

”Hey! I’m no halfling!” Frizz shouts at the GM. Shaking her small fist to nowhere in particular.
Male Half-orc LG Cleric 5 | HP: 62/63 | AC: 22 (24 w/shield) | F: +11, R: +8, W: +13 | Perc: +13 | Speed 25ft | Hero Points: 0/1 | Special Power: Spells, Healing Font 2/3 | Reactions: Shield Block | Conditions: Enlarge
I have had a steady stream of half-orc PCs going back to the dawn of 3rd edition. The first of them, Ghorrin Redblade, for whom my main alias is named, had a total inability to tell the difference between gnomes and halflings. Dwarves, he usually got right, more as a matter of self-preservation, but those two, forget about it.
One of my 1e characters was a halfling who was best friends with a half-orc PC. The half-orc thought they were somehow the same race.

No one was ever really sure if Ghorrin's inability to tell the difference was for real or a put-on. Including me; I just kind of rolled with it.

Wow, it's been a month and a half since Perfire posted? Hadn't realized.
Um, I don't speak 2e Sorcerer (yet). What do we think, guys? If I had to pick something, IDK, Acid arrow?

I'm going to cast Haste. :)
Hmm... I hadn't realized that. Perf, ol' buddy, let us know you're still with us, okay? Hope everything is alright.

It's funny, I've been watching a lot of PF2 videos the past week or so, just for refreshers/something to do. So many of them emphasize the idea of "don't just go Strike-Strike-Strike," and then I go getting myself quickened, and could barely keep from that. :)

Yuppers. With the tight math, a Demoralize or Trip can setup some awesome crit potential for the group. Especially when you hit the max MAP threshold.
It's one of the things I love about Assurance (Athletics). Assurance ignores MAP penalties, so against a lower-level opponent, tripping and shoving become great 3rd-action options.
I've got a PFS grapple ranger who uses his third action to grapple or trip with Assurance all the time. He also throws bolas with it.
I think the two actions people should consider using more are: Take Cover and Aid (at mid-high levels, anyway. Maybe not at 5th level).
Male Half-orc LG Cleric 5 | HP: 62/63 | AC: 22 (24 w/shield) | F: +11, R: +8, W: +13 | Perc: +13 | Speed 25ft | Hero Points: 0/1 | Special Power: Spells, Healing Font 2/3 | Reactions: Shield Block | Conditions: Enlarge
The problem I'm seeing with Trip and Shove is that you either have to have a weapon with the relevant traits, or have a free hand. I've got neither, trying to figure a way around that.
Yeah, it's not for all builds, that's to be sure! But those fighters and rogues who're tripping people aren't tapped into the power of the gods like Lukas, so it all comes out in the wash.
Male Half-orc LG Cleric 5 | HP: 62/63 | AC: 22 (24 w/shield) | F: +11, R: +8, W: +13 | Perc: +13 | Speed 25ft | Hero Points: 0/1 | Special Power: Spells, Healing Font 2/3 | Reactions: Shield Block | Conditions: Enlarge
If I hadn't been intent on trying a cleric, my other plan had been a half-orc (or orc with your okay) Fighter, who used a lot of Combat Grab/Snagging Strike in conjunction with a necksplitter. I'd have been trying to get a lot of mileage out of Athletics there. :D
Welp, it's a megadungeon. You'll get your chance to try a new character at some point. Just ask Wymond!
I'd love to get your thoughts on Adventure Paths HERE.
LG | Dwarf Champion (Paladin) 7 | AC 28 | HP 113/113 | Resistance: 2 Fire, 3 Slashing | Fort +15 | Ref +9 | Will +14 | Hero Points 3 | Perc: +12 | Focus: 1 | Spells: DC 20 | Attack +15 Skills Acro +0, Arcn +0, Athl +13, Crft +0, Dcptn +1, Dplmcy +14, Intim +12, Lore: Farming +9, Med +3, Nature +3, Occult +0, Prfrmnc +1, Rel +12, Society +0, Stlth +0, Surv +12, Thvry +0
For the record, this was a hard survey to answer because I couldn't just go "ALL OF THEM!" :P
Seriously, I've been in quite a few, but I can count the number that didn't ultimately fall apart at some point on one hand...and a few actively scare me away because they depend on other APs for their storyline and I haven't played through the preceding APs (The Varisian APs are the biggest offenders in this regard, followed by the Cheliax-based ones).
Male Half-orc LG Cleric 5 | HP: 62/63 | AC: 22 (24 w/shield) | F: +11, R: +8, W: +13 | Perc: +13 | Speed 25ft | Hero Points: 0/1 | Special Power: Spells, Healing Font 2/3 | Reactions: Shield Block | Conditions: Enlarge
Yeah, I did it best I could, facing similar constraints about wanting to just yell, "FIRE EVERYTHING!" XD
NG | Gnome Rogue 6 | AC 22 Nimble Dodge | HP 74/74 | Resistance: Negative 2, Fire 5 | Fort(T) +11 | Ref(E) +14 | Will(E) +11 | Perc: +11 (+13 Init)| Low-Light Vision | Speaks Azlanti | CrossBow Bolts: 10 | Acro(E) +14, Arcn(T) +11, Athl(T) +7, Crft(T) +11, Dcptn(E) +12, Dplmcy(T) +10, Intim(U) +2, Lore: Eng./Azlant(E) +13, Med(E) +11, Occult(T) +11, Prfrmnc(T) +10, Society(T) +11, Stlth(E)) +14, Thvry(E) +14
With the lofty ambitious goal of doing my own 2e video game, this survey was especially relevant to my interests. I look forward to the end result. :)

YEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!!!
Sully was a That Guy that played The F***ing Weasel in several other films. Without having gone to IMDB over it, I think he was also the weasel in The Warriors, some AWFUL mid-80s thing about guys using their psychic abilities to enter peoples' dreams, and maybe The Crow, too?

Quick gut-check. Wymond, should I throw a Heal on you, or start opening a can on this guy myself?

This thing's crit range is 16-20! I vote for Heal but man oh man, this is going to be a ride.
We haven't heard from Perfire in more than six weeks. None of his aliases have posted since then. I hate to think that something may have happened to his player, but we need a fourth.
With quite a bit of sorrow, I'm going to start the recruitment process.

I'm gonna miss Perfire...that leaves me as the last PC from the original recruitment. :(
Hey Tarondor, the answer is obviously yes, with the knowledge that it is deer hunting season and weekends are a toss up for me.
Everyone, please say hi to Edelsmirge. Edelsmirge, welcome aboard and please get me a character to review when you can.
5th level. I'm open to Common and Uncommon (not rare) backgrounds and ancestries. It's 2e, obviously, so most of the character stuff in the "player's guide" link is no longer relevant.
No 3rd party. No optional rules, no free archetypes. No evil characters. Build a character who wants to be in a party and has a reason to want to cooperate. Guns and Gears are okay, but I do think we need an arcane caster. Ask me before taking an uncommon archetype or feat. I want them to be thematically linked to the region and type of campaign. No Uncommon or Rare spells unless granted to you by a feat or archetype (like focus spells).
Gear: 270 gp. No more than 135 gp on any one item. Any common item up to 6th level. Any Uncommon item up to 3rd level. No Rare items.

If I know anything about deer hunting (and I know very little). You just sit there all day drinking beer until Bambi walks by! What a perfect time to read and post. Haha!
Welcome! I second Tarandor's suggestion on a caster. We have a Cleric, Champion, and Rogue. But right now against this Minotaur a Fighter might be useful, Ha!

Howdy Edelsmirge. I'm Felix, aka Redblade aka Lukas, a warpriest of Iomedae. Looking forward to playing with you.
Haha! Thanks for the welcome. I am a tracker so I follow the spoor and track signs and find their watering hole and bed down and then get a hopeful higher land point I can strike from up wind. Tree stands are for other fellows.
I heard the request for a caster and am looking them over.
So are you looking for more of a buff build like a bard or more of battle field control witch/wizard or combat buff with some small distance hit like a magus? I am willing to work with the group
I'll leave that as a discussion for the players.

Honestly, I'm not sure which one is preferable (buff vs debuff/control), but I think either one would work well. Hell, I'm just trying not to totally pooch up playing my first full-caster since about 2003 here. :)
Wymond, Frizz, you have an opinion here?

RESPECT. This is how I'd like to hunt if I ever do, also with the handmade hickory bow I made. :)
as for caster type:
imho, debuff/control casters are great in 2e, especially because a -1/-2 to AC is such a boon for crit chances. Bonus points if they're FF'd so I can sneak attack. Scaling DCs for spell saves also make low level control spells go that much further in this edition too.
I haven't seen a witch played in this edition yet so can't comment on that, but in 1e I LOVED my shaman. I'd pit my 1e shaman against any wizard when it comes to versatility of spells (to include hexes). ;)
All that to say, follow your heart but just be sure your heart is ready for what this AP is: A GOSH DARN DUNGEON CRAWL! I built Frizz initially with some flavor but soon realized you need skills and combat prowess when you're delving into the heart of an Azlanti keep guarded by all manner of beasts and creatures.
Also, Hi! I'm Gary aka MirkoRainer aka Frizz Doctrina, Gnome
Hmm it seems one can archetype as well but I am not that versed in that yet
Archetypes are one of the things that makes 2e great!
Not for nothing, but I know a guy who wrote a 2e wizard guide.
Also, a fighter with the wizard, sorcerer or bard dedication could also help out if you felt more martial.
Lol Yes I was reading it through it seemed that guy knows his stuff, likes to talk flashy with colors and diagrams and point excitedly
And is currently hard at work making it even longer, I'm sad to say.
