Perhaps you can get a twist on him creating a totally opposite personality and goals @Robert. An Aberrant bloodrager that is looking for a refuge, a less judgmental place in Golarion, or a Celestial bloodrager sent by the gods to see this mission succeed (you can even go Aasimar).

Back story/Letter:
To whom it may concern,

I would like to apply for your current position as hunter/gatherer for the Bountiful Venture Companies 2nd go into Azlant. I grew up in the Sodden lands, My parents are a member of the Flock of Father Heveril once holy Paladin of Erastil. My mother and myself are hunters for the flock we provided a lot of the food and fresh water that keeps the flock alive. My father hunts the beasts that would threaten us and the Knights of Abendego who think to turn us into slave.
I must warn you that I have Undine heritage, my mother is Undine and my father human. I don’t feel this will cause issues with other crew and settlers but it may give me an advantage on patrolling and hunting around the water of the island. I am proficient with the bow and rapier, my tracking skills and dislike or any unnatural creatures is what has helped me to exceed at this job. Campaign trait is Seasoned Hunter, +1 dmg vs Aberrations.
I hope this finds letter finds its way to your desk soon.

Thank you,
Jinase Minnower

I am submitting Alon Orbious for your consideration.

I'd like to apply with Lara Evangeline Ellicott-Tillingsworth, an Archaeologist bard.

Bountiful Venture Company Application:
To Whom It May Concern:

The University of Oppara is rightfully renowned as a center of learning on the Avistani continent. It is renowned throughout the surrounding lands, and with good reason. Many of the world's foremost scholars--on a variety of subjects--teach at the University. I am Lara Evangeline Ellicott-Tillingsworth, and I come to you as a graduate of that august institution.

I am an archaeologist by profession and an explorer by calling. No doubt there is ample room for explorers on a newly discovered (or should I say,
rediscovered?) continent, and the more minds at work at the great problems that confront a fledgling colony, the greater its chances of success. I come to you to offer my skills to the expedition, and am confident that you will find me to be an asset to the community, and to the company. Should you take the time to interview me, I am sure that you will agree that my skills and talents will be most useful. I look forward to hearing from you about the opportunity to prove it.

Sincerely,

Lara Evangeline Ellicott-Tillingsworth

Hope I'm not too late.

Athletic: You have always had a knack for physical activity. You either grew up in a rural area and
had an active childhood where you were always climbing trees, swimming in lakes and rivers, and
clambering up rocky hillsides, or you competed in and excelled at contests or sports while growing up in a larger settlement. Due to this background, little can slow you down or inhibit your movements. When the Bountiful Venture Company interviewed you, they noticed your stature and physicality, and they chose you for the colonial expedition knowing that a strong back is always helpful in a growing colony. You reduce your armor check penalty by a number equal to one-third your character level (minimum 1) for purposes of Acrobatics, Climb, and Swim checks, and you gain a +1 trait bonus to
one of these three skills, chosen when you take this trait.

Darkvision is the extraordinary ability to see with no light source at all, out to a range specified for the creature. Darkvision is black and white only (colors cannot be discerned). It does not allow characters to see anything that they could not see otherwise-invisible objects are still invisible, and illusions are still visible as what they seem to be. Likewise, darkvision subjects a creature to gaze attacks normally. The presence of light does not spoil darkvision.

Intimidating (Ex) Half-orc receive a +2 racial bonus on Intimidate skill checks due to their fearsome nature.

Monstrous Humanoid (Ex) You gain a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks when using these skills against monstrous humanoids. Likewise, you get a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against such creatures. You may make Knowledge Skill checks untrained to identify such creatures.

Orc Blood (Ex) Half-orc count as both humans and orcs for any effect related to race.

Orc Ferocity (Ex) 1/day, when a half-orc is brought below 0 hit points, but not killed, he can fight on for one more round as if disabled. At the end of his next turn, unless brought to above 0 hit points, he immediately falls unconscious and begins dying.

Strong Swimmer (Gozreh) Your faith in Gozreh's grace gives you the confidence to swim without fear. You gain a +2 trait bonus on Swim checks, and can hold your breath for an extra 2 rounds when underwater.

Track (Ex) You gain +1 to Survival checks made to follow tracks.

Weapon Familiarity (Ex) Half-orcs are proficient with greataxes and falchions, and treat any weapon with the word "orc" in its name as a martial weapon.
Wild Empathy (Ex) You can improve the attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. You roll 1d20+1 to determine the Wild Empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly. To use Wild Empathy, you and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal circumstances. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but as with influencing people, it might take more or less time. You can use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but you take a -4 penalty on the check.

Application:

Kragg Stoneheart application:

Name: Kragg Stoneheart VII
Age: old enough to be your great grandfather
Current Occupation: priest of Abadar, brewer and merchant

Education: attended local temple as youth setting the groundwork for future development. Strayed away from religion in adolescent years until a vision lead me back to an Abadarian temple in Magnimar. Entered into the service there and studied both religious and mercantile trades.

Previous experience: Spent the last 40+ years traveling the world furthering Abadar's goals while establishing trade routes and selling my brews. Through my Breadth of Experience have seen numerous people and encountered a vast array of knowledge enabling me to have some input in almost any area. This experience has also shown me some tricks in crafting items in a quick and timely fashion.

Future plans: become a member of the second trip to Azlant and use my knowledge and experience to further the growing community there. With further study I hope to provide a significant impact in the economic, spiritual, and magical growth as needed.

While my age may be seen as a liability I I assure you that I am still in excellent health. With the blessings of abadar I see no reason that I can not overcome the physical demands that such a voyage across the seas and the resulting expansion of the settlement will entail. Please consider me as a candidate for the second voyage.

Just realized my Herolab does not have the traits I wanted. Racial trait brewmaster and campaign trait resourceful. Sorry about that.

Excellent, it's nearing crunch time!

Well hope it's not too late to throw my hat in the ring.

I have a pretty interesting character for your consideration here.

Essentially, he is a bard that is absolutely terrible, his spells all do negative things. But he is convinced that he is very good indeed and will be disappointed whenever his spells effectively damage, sicken, deafen, terrify, and confuse his opponents.

I'm rather proud of his backstory too.

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi! This is Tarondor's submission, a brutish half-orc trying to see beauty in the world.

4 Hours left before I close submissions.

Faelyn here with my submission! Going to reuse a previous alias name that I really enjoyed.

GM Striker:
I haven't yet compiled all my info into a profile sheet yet, but all the pertinent character information can be found Here on here character sheet. Hopefully that will not disqualify me!

Basic Background:
(I like to start with a minimal background that covers the basics and then workout the details as I get to know the character.) With her slender frame, vibrant green eyes, white hair, and beautiful face Delia Everheart does not at all seem the adventurous type. One might expect to see her wielding courtly intrigue in Taldor, or perhaps rubbing elbows with celebrities in Absalom. Instead she wields a machete with such skill and sings empowering songs while she does. You see, she grew up exploring the wilderness in search of ancient lore along with her mother (specifically that of ancient Azlant origins). It was on the open road that she learned a love of Desna and freedom to always explore!

Her family was small; her father an elf that she never knew and her mother was of Varisian blood, but there was a family claim of Azlanti heritage that they could in no way prove. Perhaps that is why her mother was so obsessed with such research. It may be she sought some way to trace their family to that amazing ancient civilization. Sadly Delia will never know the answer to that and other questions about her mother's obsession as she perished in a tunnel collapse while doing that which she loved more than anything else... seeking out ancient knowledge and travel. Delia and her mother were examining some ancient ruin when the tunnel entrance began to crumble around them. Without having time for anything else, Delia's mother pushed her daughter through the portal of the collapsing archway just before unknowable tonnage of limestone crushed her petite frame.

Since that day, Delia has made it her mission to carry on her mother's life's work and to seek out anything and everything Azlanti. She began to perfect the dead language and in doing so, she has begun to awaken some strange power within... a power over the very ancient words themselves...

Application:
To The Most Esteemed Partners of the Bountiful Venture Company,

I have received word that you are planning a venture to establish a colony near the ruins of ancient Azlant by the name of Talmandor’s Bounty. My name is Delia Everheart, I am a Starchild of Desna, a daughter of the Open Road, and a scholar of ancient Azlant, among a myriad of other topics. I have spent my entire life exploring the wide world of Golarion and seeking out esoteric or ancient lore, specifically that of Azlanti origin. I fluently speak and read Azlanti, Elven, and Varisian. I am currently studying other ancient languages as well that would hopefully assist in our exploration.

Beyond being versed in knowledge and lore, I have a keen sense of direction and Desna has never allowed me to become lost. I have survived the jungles of Mwangi, the deserts of Osirion, and the haunted forests of the Darkmoon Vale. I can help locate hidden ruins and make sure your people return home safely. I can even lift the spirits of the people of the colony with the power of my voice. I am very skilled in the art of diplomacy in the event we are required to negotiate with any locals or ensure a trade agreement.

I would be an amazing asset to your colony in more ways than I can put to word. Select me for your expedition and you will not be disappointed. I look forward to accepting your invitation and will be awaiting your word at the inn of the Prancing Wolf here in Almas.

Sincerely,

Delia Everheart

To help combat alias bloat, I will not be creating an alias unless actually selected. Info below however.

Elandra is a young Taldan woman, slightly too tall for polite society.

Being the 4th child of the Grand-Proconsul to the Executor of the Zimaran River Defense, means Elandra is going to have to find her own way in life.

*Pokes head in*
I have a recruitment page up, feel free to apply if you don't make it in. :)

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Wow just wow, great application all around you really made this tough on me. After reading through everyone's entries, and working out some interesting party dynamics I've decided that I just have to run 2 tables. I just couldn't help myself.

If you didn't make the cut I'm sorry. I wish I could take you all. You've all made some very interesting characters and I thank you for the effort you put into these. It looks like there's another recruitment thread starting as well. (See above post) Please apply, don't take this as a rejection, I would have enjoyed having any of you at my table.

If you made the cut check back later for a link to your relevant campaign I'll post them sometime tomorrow. We'll start promptly bright and early (Central Time) on Sunday the 13th.

Slots For Table 1

  • Aenon Malas Undine Unchained monk
  • Nininox Ambershale, XIV, gnome Marid Bloodline sorcerer.
  • Momo Duline Female Human Ranger
  • Weyve Murkwater Gillman Oracle (Pei Zin Practitioner) of the Shadow Mystery
  • Delia Everheart Human Female Bard (soundstriker)

Slots For Table 2

  • Kaldan Tide Male Half-Orc (Ulfen) ranger
  • Trieste Carre Female Changeling Druid(Kraken Caller)
  • Bomani "Whippor" Ebo Male Half-Elf Unchained Rogue
  • Kragg stoneheart vii Dwarf cleric of Abadar
  • Lara Evangeline Ellicott-Tillingsworth Human female Bard (archaeologist)

P.S.
Thanks again for everything guys this is truly going to be a pleasure to run for you all.

Thanks for picking Kaldan. Commiserations to those who didn't get in.

thanks for running 2 tables!

Thanks! Good luck to the rest on getting in!

Also will update profile tomorrow with background skills and gear.

My heart! It bleeds! Maybe next time, Momo.

Have fun you guys.

I am very excited to see that Delia was selected the join this great looking AP, especially with as good a GM as Striker. Looking forward to joining these great characters.

Out of the three people recruiting for Azlant, I was the most excited for GM Striker's campaign. I even turned down another GM's invite because I prefered Striker's.

I've skimmed Striker's Wrath of the Righteous campaign that lasted for about 11 months. I have high hopes that The Ruins of Azlant will last even longer.

I can't wait to start RPing! Thanks again :)

@Purplefixer: Best of luck to your future campaigns!

  • I hate to do this to you, but I think I will have to withdraw.

As you know there were two recruitments running side-by-side and both had the same deadline. I expected to maybe get into one. But both GMs decided to run multiple tables and I was accepted to both.

After a fair bit of agonizing I decided to go with the other game. That was a tough choice too.

It shouldn't be too late to hunt down another divine caster and get them into your game. I hope. If there is much selection I might pick someone a bit better in melee than Weyve is.

Again, apologies. I hope you guys have a great time.
