GMPCing Ayesha.

Jinxx leaps onto the ground, tackling the brimorak in combat with Nilus, biting at it again and again. His attacks land deeply, spraying black blood over the area. The eidolon is badly burned, but the brimorak is barely standinga fter the tussle.

Blood: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 3) = 12

Magically enhanced, Ayesha whips out two quick attacks which are easily parried by the brimorak's flaming sword.

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

The brimoraks retaliate with the one Jinxx almost killed outright slashing at the eidolon, with one blow landing.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25 Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 = 12
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10

Another rushes in past Nilus' glaive, cutting upwards and scoring brutal hits.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 2) + 3 = 10
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3) + 3 = 11

Finally the one engaged with Ayesha scores a single hit, wounding the magus.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27 Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 3 = 13
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10

Jinxx takes 34 damage, Nilus 21, and Ayesha 13. Everyone is up! By the way if you have fire resistance let me know since part of hte damage being taken is fire damage.

Invigorated by Ronan's spell, Sarkast steps over the body of the dead demon and spins around, slamming his spear and dagger into the next one.

Attack, cold iron spear: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Sneak attack: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 2) = 14

If at least one attack hits, the demon is Bewildered for one round (-2 AC, -4 vs Sarkast). For each additional attack that hits, the duration is extended by one round. If the first attack hits, the AC penalty applies to the rest.

AC is currently 22 with the extra dodge bonus from Haste.

.

Damnit Dejik, it's not like you've reminded me of that repeatedly or anything. Lemme adjust damage for everyone:

Sarkast turns to the brimorak that was once charmed, which has since gone into an apoplectic rage at its temporary alliance with the crusaders. He manages to score a brutal hit across the forehead. The boiling blood seeps into the brimorak's eyes, disorienting him.

Nilus, on the other hand, sweeps off the head of the brimorak Jinxx was attacking.

Boiling Blood: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Sarkast takes 3 damage. Two brimoraks left. So we're on Dejik, Ayesha, and Ronan/Jinxx who are on autopilot.

Is that "Boiling Blood" damage considered fire damage? Also, just curious, how many of Sarkast's attacks connected? If the 20 hit, then the 17 should have with the -4 AC imposed by the Bewildered.

.

Full disclosure - my high posting rate is because I'm home sick. So my brain is misfiring and I've missed a few things in this fight. Apologies!

1. Boiling blood is fire damage. Hp totals adjusted. 2. Sarkast hits THREE times with the -4 to AC penalty.

After Sarkast first attack hits, he stabs out two more times, finally clubbing the brimorak in front of him into unconsciousness.

Jinxx then leaps upon the remaining brimorak, attacking viciously. He finally pins the shrieking little demon to the ground, clamps his enormous jaws around its neck, and rips out its throat. The summoned demon vanishes in a puff of black fog while the boiling blood bubbles noisily on the pavement.

5 Attacks: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 281d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 271d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 311d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 251d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

End of Combat!

Final HP Totals:

Nilus 11 dmg
Jinxx 17 dmg

The incredible furor of the long fight is over. Of all the brimoraks, one remains alive and unconscious.

Thanks for the DMPC, travel + wedding rehearsal and dinner afterwards made yesterday a dead posting day.

Breathing heavily, Ayesha felt Dejik's spell preventing the worst of the damage from her, and she smiled gratefully once more at the paladin. Once she was sure there was no more threat, she inspected the catapult to make sure it was truly disabled. Then, Ayesha fell back into her self-designated role as purveyor of the fallen combatants' valued possessions. What Nilus so indignantly referred to as "looting".

Nilus looks to his allies This Demon lives...and while all that live may know beauty, I know my Lady may not extend that to the demons but she may...I cannot in good conscience allow it to live. Not with more lives than mine in the balance. I will pray for atonement later.

Nilus will slam Radiance down into the Brimorak, killing it.

.

Saying a short prayer, Nilus ends the cruel life of the brimorak, knowing that such things are evil incarnate, and beyond redemption.

Far off to the south, the group uses the watch tower for an excellent view of the crusaders charging southwards across the east bridge and into southbank. There, a tiefling army stand tall, ready to intercept them but are mowed down instantly in a barrage of arrows. The army is then immediately ambushed by a second army of cultists, but the cultists are quickly wiped out.

Three catapults now remain, however, it appears the other watch towers are unoccupied, the guards having teleported over the moment the battle began.

Let me know if you have an easy way to get to the other three towers. Also mass combat rules are boring and the crusader army is OP. :D

How far apart are the towers, and is it possible to walk along the wall from one to another?

.

Regular map is back up to show where you are in relation to everything. The towers are a good 500' apart and you can see where towers are partially crumbled (and thus would require some checks to get across), or the big opening in the front of the citadel.

Female Magus 12 | AC 26 T 16 F 21| HP 102| F +9 R +9 W +8 | Init +11 | Perc +18

I think earlier he said that there were doors from the towers onto the curtain wall. The dimension door wand can easily carry Ronan plus 2 others from tower to tower, and Ayesha has 6-7 minutes left on her fly spell, so she can take the nearest tower and let Sarkast and Ronan get the other two...assuming that they truly are unguarded. That will be my suggested action if I am not able to post when the time comes.

Edit: Bah! Ninja'd by the DM

.

I'm hitting fast-forward.

With use of Ayesha and the wand of dimension door, the group vanish and reappear from tower to tower, destroying the catapults. As Ayesha flies over, she notices a few arrows zip up to her from the crowds within the Citadel. Nothing comes close, but curiously she has not been attacked yet.

Sarkast, Nilus, and Ronan vanish and appear at the southwestern tower, which Sarkast and Nilus make quick work of. Racing across the battlements, they come to the final tower, and destroy it.

Although the guards are dead and you are not further attacked, it is obvious your movements have been noticed. As Ayesha flies to her tower, several arrows zip up from the crowds within Drezen, although fall short.

EEEERRRAAAAUUUUGHHHHHHHHH

Nilus slashes down to destroy the last catapult, and pauses as a hideous roar rips across all of Drezen. The sound is of several creatures roaring at once in perfect synch; a sound of fury and anger. What ever things, or things roared, it is big. Ronan quickly taps Nilus with the dimension door wand, and the group re-appears at the appointed meeting place, a little north of the captured bridge.

I've relocated the YOU ARE HERE arrow. Let me know what you're doing next. The next place to attack is the graveyard, although the plan with the army was to see how far you can get before either group needs rest. The army has successfully captured Southbank, and is a half hour walk south of you.

.

You all agree to next go to the graveyard and push your advantage. As you begin to head southwards across the bridge, a second, incredible roar shakes the bridge beneath you. Looking northwards, Sarkast spies a figure shoot up from behind the walls of the citadel. It crests, and then begins speeding directly towards the group. As it grows closer and closer a strange silhouette shows up against the dim red sky. It has a catlike body, but as it grows closer it shows three different heads! They let out one more roar as the creature becomes distinct. It has the body of a huge winged lion, but two additional heads; one of a goat, and one of a white dragon!

The chimera dives. Its form shimmers with strange energy as it moves with incredible speed from above the citadel!

Take a couple of rounds to position yourselves, buff, or do something from very long range. The chimera is around 500' away right now and approaching from the north (up).

Sarkast slots a cold iron spear into his spear thrower, then looks for any cover from which he might be able to surprise the creature when it gets close enough to throw from. He then waits, holding the magic dagger in his other hand.

I have no idea if there is any suitable cover that Sarkast might use to get concealment for a ranged sneak attack, but that is the plan. He'll throw when it gets within 30'.

If there are any spells being cast, he'll make sure to remain close enough to receive them before hiding.

If there is no hiding place, he will just stand ready to attack when it gets in range, trying to find a way to get either a flank or a charge attack on it.

.

Sure. The square rooms on the side of the map are all towers - you can either hide in them, or against them for the concealment. The question is if you want up on the battlements or on the bridge proper.

OK, so Sarkast will climb up onto the battlements and use one of the towers as cover. His intent is to get a surprise throw when the creature passes, as long as it is within 30' when it does.

EDIT: Where you put me is great.

.

Ayesha immediately recognizes a chimera, a famously dangerous creature. Most notable is that it will wield a breath weapon matching the dragon head it carries, freezing cold in this case. They are clumsy fliers and prefer to engage up close. They are not known to be especially resistant to anything. That said, this one seems... different from the stories.

Oh man, mythic initiative ... that's going to make things a little rougher ... :)

Sarkast watches from his hiding place as the chimera flies in. As it passes close to him, he sees an opportunity to disrupt its flight, and decides to take it. Briefly touching the medallion on his chest, he springs up and leaps toward it, aiming for its wings.

Swift action to activate Righteous Medal of Agility (+2 bonus to DEX for 1 minute. Move action to leap at the chimera; with Expert Leaper, no running start is needed; with that and Haste, base Acrobatics to jump is +35, so auto success. Also, that counts as less than half a base move, so no penalty on Acrobatics to avoid AoO; if that fails, AC vs AoO is 29 from Mobility. Sarkast does not have improved Grapple, so that will provoke unless you rule that since he had cover, the chimera doesn't see the attack coming. AC vs that AoO will be 23.

Acrobatics to avoid reach AoO: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
Grapple, hopefully vs flat footed CMD: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
If that doesn't succeed, use a mythic point for surge 1d6 ⇒ 6

With any luck the grapple fouls his wings and he can't control his flight. Sarkast may take some damage when the two fall, but he's willing to take that to put the monster at a disadvantage in front of Nilus and Ayesha.

Male Kellid Rogue (Unch) 11 / Urban Bloodrager 1 / Trickster 5| AC 29(32 w/Cmb Exp) T 18 F 22 | HP 122/122 | F +7 R +14 W +5 | Init +11 | Perc +21

Forgot to add: If the grapple fails, Sarkast cannot fail the acrobatics check to land on his feet with no damage, even from 20' due to Expert Leaper.

.

Nilus rushes up to engage the chimera, facing off against the dread beast with his weapon shining with holy light. As the chimera breathes, Sarkast springs from the side of the battlements, flipping through the air before landing solidly on the chimera's back and clinging to its wings. This completely fouls the perfect landing planned by the beast and it nosedives, plummeting to the ground!

Falling Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11

The chimera thuds painfully onto the ground, and the three heads begin snapping around wildly as Sarkast lands neatly on his feat beside it.

Ayesha, Jinxx, Ronan, and Dejik are up! I'm going to rule that Sarkast could not maintain the grapple falling 20' while dangling with a three-headed flying death leopard. The chimera is now prone. Nice move.

Thanks! Was the surge needed? Also, was I able to maintain a grip on at least one weapon, or did that need both hands?

Darn. Dejik takes full damage, then absorbs 5 from Ronan and Jinxx. Need to know Sarkast's saving throw since he has evasion.

Whoops on Sarkast - he wasn't hit by the breath weapon. He's just always first on lists for some reason. The flat-footed CMD to beat is 25. So with bare hands he makes it without the surge. If he's carrying a weapon (which I didn't see), he'll require the surge.

He was holding a spear and a dagger, expecting to throw as it flew overhead. I didn't expect it to come close. Let's say he held onto the dagger; if that would still require the surge, I'll spend the mythic point to still have a weapon in hand.

Ayesha ducked aside from the beast's breath, cringing at the cold. Then, she moved forward, quick as the lightning that spread from her arm down the black blade of her scimitar. She aimed for the spot where the beast's wing met its torso, an easier blow now that Sarkast had brought the creature down. The blade arced out, slicing deep into tissue before discharging the spell.

.

Just to note there's three active morale bonuses to attack from heroism, flagbearer, and bless. Make sure you're not stacking.

Party Buffs:

Haste (7 rnds) (+1 attack, +1 AC, +1 reflex, +30 mvt, +1 attack)
Bless (7 mins) (morale) (+1 attack, +1 vs fear)
Endure elements (24 hrs)
Flagbearer (morale) (+1 attack, +1 damage)

Total Bonus: +2 attack, +1 damage, +1 AC, +1 reflex, +30 move, +1 attack, 5 cold resist, 5 fire resist

Jinxx leaps upon the back of the chimera, tearing and clawing. However, the incredibly tough hide of the creature frustrates most of Jinxx's attacks, despite their ferocity.

1d4 ⇒ 1

The chimera's head wheel around wildly as it stands to its feet before it inhales, and sends out another vicious blast of cold!

Cold: 6d8 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 2, 2, 8) = 18 Piercing: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10

Its form then flickers, 'skipping' as it moves unnaturally fast while it strikes out brutally at Ayesha, who dodges as best she can. However she is rent with a claw and takes a nasty bite from the leopard head.

Bite: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 6) + 5 = 16
Bite: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33 Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Gore: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Claw: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19 Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Claw: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27 Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Threat: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32 Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Everyone but Dejik gets an attack of opportunity as the chimera stands. Everyone but Sarkast takes 23 cold/piercing damage, DC 21 reflex save for half. Finally, Ayesha takes 29 damage. Everyone is up!

Round Two:

I'm not sure, but I think that while it was standing, Sarkast was in a flank position with Ayesha. Adjust attack and damage as appropriate.
Attack, AoO, +1 dagger: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17+2 if Flanking
Damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7Sneak attack: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 5) = 19
If the attack succeeds, target is Bewildered (-2 AC, -4 vs Sarkast) for 1 round.

Sarkast slashes at the beast as it stands, then moves around to keep it between himself and Ayesha as he slashes again.

Move action to get into flank, Acrobatics to avoid AoO, draw second dagger while moving.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
If unsuccessful, AC vs AoO is 29.

Single attack with magic dagger from flank, potentially against Bewildered AC.
Attack, +1 dagger: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7Sneak attack: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 6) = 15
If attack is successful, Bewildered condition is extended for an additional round.

.

You landed in a flank due to the acrobatics from the fall so you've got that.

Sarkast lands neatly on the ground, and although his attack is not as clean as he'd like, the chimera's vulnerability from lying on the ground leaves it open to a devastating attack from Sarkast's cruel dagger. He then neatly slips around it, but the dragon's head snaps out at him, biting him hard on the torso!

Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33 Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 4) + 5 = 12
Crit: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23 Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 1) + 5 = 11

Bleeding, Sarkast gets into position and lunges out a second time. However, his dagger is turned aside by the creature's brutally tough hide.

Ouch, good reflexes there, monster! I thought 26 Acrobatics was pretty decent. At least Mobility saved me from the crit!

Ouch! That brings Dejik to exactly 0.

Staggered by the monster's breath, Dejik is forced to break the link between herself and her comrades. Immediate action to end all life links.

Moving up near Ayesha, Dejik channels to heal (excluding the chimera), then says a quick prayer to her goddess (lay on hands).

Channel: 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 2) + 1 = 10
Everyone heals 10, Dejik heals 16.
