Move action to run in, swift action to smite evil, Mythic Point to cast Calm Emotions near at the intersection under the queen (red dot). It's a 20-ft spread: no one gets morale bonuses, the confused condition is suppressed for everyone within in 20 ft of the red dot.

Oh! we've always played it as the "suppress morale and confusion effects" clause was separate from the "can't take violent actions clause"--so agressive action against you breaks that limitation, but the suppression is still in effect.

If that's not the case, then Dejik can cast Silence on an arrow. Or I can just ignore it because everyone's made their saves anyway...

As Nilus and Ayesha move into position, Sarkast tries again to hit the demon, using their presence as a distraction.

I'll go with Dejik's reading on calm emotions. It doesn't stop you from fighting, it just calms you down and thus would remove the confusion effect.

The group feels a wash over serenity move over their minds, but this only manages to dull the horrid gibbering of the queen. With her black blade singing in her mind, Ayesha slashes brutally through the carapace of the queen vescavor, casting through a numbing, slowing spell into the gigantic demon.

Nilus swings Radiance down as well, slashing down brutally. Sarkast is unable to find a hole in the queen's armour though.

Ronan and Jinxx are up! I'll GMPC by tomorrow afternoon if needed.

Jinxx rushes in while Ronan moves out of the tunnel, and casts a haste spell, blessing the party!

Arvashnial moves in as well, and immediately begins casting a summoning spell.

As Jinxx and Ronan move in, the crazed gibbering of vescavors fills the room further as two swarms move in. Both make straight for Nilus as the acid from the vescavor queen sizzles on his armour.

The queen, realizing her incredible danger, leaps into the air, trying to fly into the air!

Nilus, Ayesha, Sarkast, and Jinxx all receive attacks of opportunity as the queen tries to lift off. The queen is now 40' in the air while the two swarms are 20' in the air each. Everyone is up!

Ayesha hammers Narb D'hssar home but it bounces off of the queens' hard carapace. Sarkast is luckier and is even hauled into the air as he stabs brutally into an already-opened wound on the queen. He lands neatly and throws both of his weapons after her, but they just bounce off of her hard shell.

Readying an action to cast Burst of Radiance if the swarms get within 20 feet of each other (it's a 10-radius burst). If she's lucky, Dejik will be able to catch the swarms without catching any of the party.

Looking up at the queen and wishing she had the ability to fly, or that Nilus did, Ayesha got an idea. "Nilus, how would you like Radiance to fly?" She rushed over to the paladin, and with a surge of her divine powers, cast a simple, but hopefully effective spell on the magical blade.

Indeed! Nilus looks relieved that he can now do something versus these foes! He unleashes the golden blade upon the Vescavor Queen.

Edit: UGH. Returning: This special ability can only be placed on a weapon that can be thrown. A returning weapon flies through the air back to the creature that threw it. It returns to the thrower just before the creature's next turn (and is therefore ready to use again in that turn). Catching a returning weapon when it comes back is a free action. If the character can't catch it, or if the character has moved since throwing it, the weapon drops to the ground in the square from which it was thrown.

I'm going to say that Nilus and Jinxx hold then.

Aravashnial finishes casting his spell and a dire bat appears, lunging at the vescavor queen through the air! However, it's unable to penetrate her hard carpace. He immediately begins casting another summoning spell.

Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 49

The bat moves in to strike, but as the queen moves out of Ayesha's spell, its mind is obviously affected. The bat just moves in lazy circles.

The swarms descend, overwhelming Nilus and Ayesha! However, Dejik's spell manages to keep the horrid confusion effect from affecting them and Ronan's wind wall keeps one swarm at bay. However, the horrible insects land and being biting, stinging, and digging at Ayesha and Nilus, covering them from head to toe.

Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10

The queen, ignoring the bat, targets Sarkast next seeing him throwing weapons at her. She spews a bolt of acid which takes Sarkast full in the chest, sending him flying!

Yow! That hurt!

Sarkast staggers back as the acid gets underneath the enchanted armor to burn his skin. The dagger reappears in his hand as he runs over to Dejik. "If your goddess has any love for me, I could use her ministrations."

He hurls the dagger again, hoping to get a lucky strike in.

When the swarms got within 10 feet of each other, Dejik's readied action goes off. They each take 16 points of "good/light" damage (11, empowered to 16).

Dejik aims her bow at the queen, but curses as the fiend flies out of her field of vision. She holds out her bow and cold iron arrows to Nilus. Nilus, use my bow! It's not as good as Radiance, but at least you'll be able to hit the cursed thing.
Nilus's smite will still work through the bow, so he'll still get some damage through. Dejik will use her move action to hand him her bow and/or hold onto Radiance so Nilus can use his turn to attack.

Aravashniel, can you help Ronan control the swarms?

Dejik closes her eyes and whispers a prayer to Iomedae. Energy bursts out from her holy symbol, healing everyone in the party.

Channel positive (excluding the swarms): 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 1 = 11
Everyone heals 11 hit points, and everyone who's at full hit points after the channel (sorry, Sarkast!) gets a +1 sacred bonus on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks for the next minute.

No, the ability is pretty specific. Throwing is listed as a weapon ability under equipment in the PRD. Returning won't work on Radiance OR your Scimitar.

It's masterwork, so +1 to hit. I'm counting on Nilus's smite damage, DR bypass, and multiple attacks to make up for it. Hasted, Nilus should get 2 shots a round at full BAB plus his iterative. (No feats needed to full attack with a long bow.)

Nilus grabs Ayesha's bow, remembering some training for many years back before he looses an arrow. It flies true, puncturing the queen's hard shell.

Ronan quickly chants a spell and Jinxx sprouts enormous wings before pouncing from the ground towards the queen, his wings flapping crazily! However, while he scrabbles madly against her carapace, the bizarre, flying creature fails to do any damage.

Aravashnial cancels his summoning and instead chants a lightning bolt, which blasts through the top of the swarm over Nilus and Ayesha and then goes straight into the queen! Both manage to survive, but the queen looks very, very badly injured.

Shrieking, the bat seems to fight past its confusion and attacks the queen! It fails to do any damage.

The queen, whose wounds seem to be healing, fires off another jet of acid at Sarkast!

Nilus stands tall in the middle of the Swarm Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 and fires the bow twice at the Vescavor Ayesha get clear! he says through gritted teeth as the swarm tears at his skin, and his belongings.

Both swarms should have taken 16 damage (good, light) from Dejik's spell 2 rounds ago.

Also, Nilus is using cold iron arrows, in case it helps against the fast healing.

SpiderBeard, could Ayesha have used her Returning Weapon spell on Sarkast's spears and daggers instead of on the scimitar and the glaive?

Nilus is right--if we split up, the swarm can't get all of us! Focus on the queen if you can.

As she begins to absorb both Sarkast's and Ayesha's wounds, Dejik snaps her wrist back, letting a wand fall into her hand. She runs over to Jinxx and touches the wand to his muzzle dagger. This will help your teeth get through her hide.
Swift action to draw the wand from a spring loaded wrist sheath, standard to cast Bless Weapon on Jinxx's bite. (If Jinxx is out of reach, she'll cast it on Sarkast's returning dagger instead.)

Realizing that her spell had been completely wasted on the swords, Ayesha cursed quietly. She could feel her divine power at an ebb, and knew that she wouldn't be able to tap into it too many more times.

Ayesha dove out of the swarm, slapping at the clinging insects, or whatever they were, and ended up next to Aravashniel. "That looked effective. Let's try it again, shall we?"

She conjured up a lightning bolt of her own and sent it racing through both swarm and queen.

Nilus's hand becomes a blur as he fires arrow after arrow into the queen, his old training coming back. She continues to hover, shrieking in pain as the arrows slam into her.

Ayesha, rapidly rubbing a bit of fur and a crystal rod in the palm of her hand, fires off a bolt of lightning through the and into the queen!

Queen Reflex: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Vescavor Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Ayesha's mythically enhanced bolt races through the chamber, instantly vaporizing the swarm. The Queen is hit full on as well, and flies through the air. Her charred husk of a body slams against a far wall, and collapses to the gruond.

Immediately, the gibbering ceases, and the horrid, constantly gnawing at your minds fades out. The swarm trapped by Ronan's wind wall disappates, the individual vescavors flying around without purpose or point. Around you, in the hive, you see the newly hatched vescavors flying up, and out. The hive has been destroyed.

Thing is, she might not. She's using Wild Arcana to cast a spell she hasn't prepared or learned. It's very likely that she would cast it not knowing the full ramifications. Still, it hardly matters now, I think.

Wearily, Aravashnial nods, although his eyes brighten as the bless spell motivates him.

Sarkast makes his way southwards towards the source of the glow.

A long, rippling crevice of nauseating mauve energy splits the southern wall of this otherwise empty cave, a tear in reality through which rolling clouds of mist churn and twist. The edges of the rift pulse and writhe, widen and contract, almost as if it were an organic thing. The temperature is noticeably hotter here than elsewhere in the caves, and the air carries on it the foul stench of burning flesh.

The occasional vescavor flies in through the rift, although without its queen, it simply flies past aimlessly, gibbering its insanity.

This is an abyssal rift. A permanent gate-like portal that allows passage from the Abyss into the Material Plane.
