Drawing his scimitar as he goes, Meriui moves up to the edge of the grease spell. "Aravashinial, you should wait where you are. It should be safe for now, while we deal with these REALLY big bugs."

Aravashnial lets out a dry laugh and leans on his staff.

"Trust me, I'm not going anywhere."

Propping herself up, Anevia takes aim with her bow before snapping off an arrow, trying to carefully aim it through the melee. However, the shot is weak and simply bounces off of the cockroach's carapace.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

"What is wrong with you people? Just step on them!" Horgus hangs back impotently, and impatiently as he watches the fight.

Meriui wades into the fight, his shield up to bear as the cockroaches mindlessly attempt to fight back against the party.

Rowena and Jinxx are up!

Jinxx runs and makes a jump over the grease.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

If he makes it Claw attack

Claw1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Claw2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Claw1 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Claw2 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Alas, a few things are working against you here:
- Jinxx can't move and use multiple attacks. Move action to move (or use acrobatics), and standard action to attack which means one attack. If he does nothing but attack (full attack action) that gives him all his natural attacks.
- Acrobatics only lets you move half your total movement. So Jinxx can only move 15' which isn't far enough to do the acrobatics check.

I'm going to say that Jinxx takes a 5' step and then acrobats. Alas, 12 is a fail.

Jinxx tries to leap over the cockroach in much the same style as Sarkast, but also comes up short.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The cockroach almost falls over as it tries to bite Jinxx, which sends the eidolon scrambling back behind Ayesha.

Rowena shakes her head and chuckles. "You can't just step on them! Unless you'd like to try, Gwerm? She steps forward and readies her bow, trying to get an angle on the nearest roach.

Attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5

Rowena tries to get a shot in at the cockroaches but is unable to without hitting a party member. Her arrow goes wide.

The cockroaches retaliate with their characteristic tenacity, trying to chew their way through the wall of angry people.

Green Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Yellow Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

One cockroach leaps at Ayesha, trying to rip off the nearest limb, but simply collapses on the grease. The second manages to latch on to Thora, but only bites down on armour and quickly releases.

Everyone is up!

OK, let's try this again...

Sarkast tries again to get into position, this time attempting to leap over the grease instead of moving through it.

First roll to move through Green's square, second to leap over the grease instead of walking through it. Leap DC 5 for crossing a single square, total move 20'. Then attack!
Acrobatics to pass Green (vs CMD+5): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Acrobatics to leap over grease (DC 5): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

"Now, let's see if you can watch both sides at once!" He jabs his spear at the roach, trying to find a weak spot.
Attack, flanking bonus: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 2 = 13
Damage plus sneak attack: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (3) = 6

Ayesha concentrated, drawing her magic to her, then lashed out at the insect in front of her with her left hand. The draining magic left her hand stinging, but likely left the cockroach feeling drained and sluggish. Hopefully it would help the others take it down more quickly.

Sarkast fakes out the cockroach and slides out onto the grease before he leaps into the air to land opposite the party. After sticking the landing, he lunges out with his spear, a perfectly aimed shot that just doesn't get past the cockroach's carapace.

Despite the cockroach trying to crawl over and attack her, Ayesha manages to chant a spell and drain some of the vigour from the enormous bug. The cockroach slips off of her and the antennae droop. It is still fighting, but fatigued.

BTW, forgive me for not calling out colors. I am colorblind and half the time I can't tell the difference between the color dots

"And this! This is for getting into my flour!" bellows Thora and hacks at the green bug. "Gotta get your grubby mitts on everything, don't you?!"

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Thora plants her feet and swings down hard. A sickening crack sounds out as her axe proves to be the tool for the job. It splits the cockroach's carapace and kills the thing instantly.

As a note since it looks like the battlefield is blocked by corpses, you can walk over the dead cockroaches without issue. I mean, aside from the grease spell.

Ronan and Jinxx are going to hold actions.

Sarkast grins at Thora. "I distract it, you smash it. I believe that is a winning combination!"

Oh! Well in that case I'll use a different identifier next fight. :)

Looking at the slippery floor, Meriui shakes his head. "Maybe you should move back, and draw it out here where more of us can reach it?"

"Good idea!" shouts Anevia. "Give me a clearer shot or something..."

With that she looses another arrow at the cockroach, trying to snake it between Ayesha's legs. This arrow manages to fly into its target, and sticks out of the roach's shell like a badge of honour. It continues to fight on undeterred.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Rowena moves beside Anevia and shoots once again. "Can't get...a good angle here.."

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Aravashanial and Horgus continue to hold, talking quietly, if not quite pleasantly at one another.

The remaining roach scrabbles at Ayesha, trying to take her down with its huge pincers.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Once again the roach comes up short as Ayesha's nimble feet keep her out of its reach.

Everyone is up!

Sarkast moves over so that he is behind the last cockroach, relative to Ayesha. "This worked well last time ... Hey, ugly, look at me!"

Whoops, that's a +0 to hit. It misses anyways. And I'll give you the second roll, I think you guys need some good luck at this point.

While dancing away from the cockroach, Ayesha reverses the grip on her kukri and slams down into the creature's carapace. It hisses loudly and almost collapses. However, it manages to stand up on its feet and continue its relentless, now puzzling assault. Meanwhile, Sarkast slides up behind the cockroach and stabs out with his spear, but loses his footing and can't connect.

Anevia fits and fires another arrow through the crowd.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

The arrow flies through Ayesha's feet and slams into the cockroach. The force of it is enough to flip the cockroach on its back where it struggles for a moment, and then lays still.

End of Combat

Ronan sees the last of the roaches go down "Well that was interesting, not really what I expected you all to do when I set up that grease to slow the roaches down, but it worked in a fashion." Calls over to Sarkast "So what were those roaches guarding."

Ronan, as a note if a spell duration has (D) on it listed for duration, you can dismiss it at will. Super useful for AoE spells.

With the cockroaches dispatched, the party takes a look at pile of garbage. Found is:

Three candle stubs
A bent fishhook
10 feet of rope
A copper brooch depicting a bat perched on a mushroom with amethyst eyes

"Hmph, I was hoping I'd see one of you fall on your ass. Are we done here? I'm starting to get cave fever!"

"Well that sounded like a fun little fight. I recommend we keep a brisk pace. We are certain to run into others down here eventually. And I am an excellent diplomat - I highly recommend that you let me do the speaking when we encounter Mole People."

Horgus begrudgingly leads Aravashnial to Ayesha, where he keeps near her with a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm not sure anyone would like being called a Mole Person..." says Anevia thoughtfully as she leans on her makeshift stick, hobbling over near the rest of the group.

Thora wipes bug guts off her axe with her fingers then realises what she's done. With a sigh of defeat, she wipes her hand off in the dirt then wipes the dirt off on her pants. She sighs again and tries to wipe the dirt off her pants with her dirty hand.

"Were you on the roaches' side?" she asks Ronan huffily. "Tryin' to keep us from getting in to kill them. Humph."

She casts a glance at Lord Horgus.

"I see manners don't come included with fancy titles. Good to know," Thora mumbles.

Ronan looks at Thora. "I should have known a hot headed Dwarf would rush in with out thinking ....'Maybe we should hold back and let the ones with bows take a shot as the roaches are slowed by the grease'

Shakes his head and turns away.

"Easy. We all have to depend on each other to get out of here. There are bound to be some hitches until we figure out each other's engagement styles." Ayesha wiped her kukri in the dirt at her feet before sheathing it. Then, she went to look over the loot pile.

Not as much here as I thought. I am sorry. I may have gotten us engaged in a battle for little reason. Still, the argument regarding the brooch still holds. Its original owner may indeed be grateful to have it returned. Ayesha helped the others scoop up the items and then offered her mostly empty pack as the container.

"As Lord Gwerm and Aravashnial have stated, it is probably time to move on."

"Lord Gwerm, heh. Attagirl." He smirks as he speaks. "What's your accent anyways? Let me guess..."

Horgus waddles over to eye Ayesha a little more intently than is strictly polite.

"Qadiran certainly. And Sir Chivalry over there..." Horgus points at Meriui. "Has to be Keleshite although the name gave it away didn't it? Haven't met many elves from Qadira. Never liked dealing with Qadirans, won't part with a copper if they can help it. Hah!"

"Even this little bit of rope could prove worth the effort before we find our way out of here."

Ronan looks around at everyone "Ayesha is right we must work together."

He makes a slight bow to the dwarf. "Let us put this behind us and move on."

"I can send Jinxx a little ways down this passage he can see in the dark."

'Jinxx head down the passage and let me know what you find, don't go too far though, I know how you like to explore sometimes'

Aravashnial ignores Horgus, but keeps his distance. He appears to be somewhat uncomfortable around the nobleman. "So where are you lot from? All I have are voices I'm starting to put to names. It may take a while to get out of here. As I said previously, I'm Aravashnial - I dedicate myself to rooting out the cultists that have infiltrated our fair city, and studying the Worldwound itself."

I'll move the group down the hall later on tonight.

"Aravashnial, as I said before I am Ronan. I was raised here in Kenabres by my foster parents. My mother and father died when I was just a baby, they were Riftwardens."

Making use of his eidolon's darkvision, Ronan sends Jinxx to scout up ahead for any signs of danger. Jinxx slinks out of the edge of the torchlight and into the darkness.

Although Jinxx doesn't quite use language, he is intelligent and manages to send back some complex thoughts.

Much bigger now; wide open room. Don't see danger. Going to go look in the rubbl-- under attack! Under attack!

You don't feel any sensations of pain, but something tried to bite Jinxx. The sounds of the struggle reach the rest of the party.

Rowena, Thora, Jinxx, and Meriui can all go! Please make note of who has light, and who does not for when you charge in. Unless you're Thora who can see in the dark.

Anevia nocks an arrow and stares forward into the darkness. She lets out a sigh.

"Well I'm no good! I'll uh, guard the rear for now or something."

"My torch should help with that!" Meriui starts moving forward, watching where he's going as much as he's looking for the source of the noise.

As he moves into the open space, he starts alternately banging on his shield and pointing in the direction of the thing attacking Jinx. "It's over there! You're going to need to move up!"

Rowena runs toward the red snake and makes a small prayer to Pharasma. "Please let my bow have better luck this time around..." she whispers.

Meriui charges ahead of the group and into the room, where he spies a large red snake attacking Jinxx. Rowena is fast on his heels and gets in place to start firing her arrows.

This cavern has been heavily damaged by the cave-in. Several mounds of rock lie in heaps, recently fallen from the rocks and ceiling. Now and then, bits of dust settle from cracks in the stone above.

"You're from Kenabres too?" Thora asks Ronan. "Didja ever go to that sweet shop? The one down by the - oh, you're, er... busy?"

She looks around as Meriui and Rowena run off and, giving a slight shrug, she follows them, moving as fast as her stumpy little legs can carry her. She skids to a halt beside Rowena, axe clutched tightly in her hands, and looks around.

"We seem to be moving up from cockroaches," she informs them solemnly. "Next, we'll fight a nest of hook horrors! And after that, a dragon." Thora looks downright enthusiastic about this idea.

"A fascinating prospect, but unlikely," says Aravashnial as he remains back with Anevia and Horgus. "I believe these tunnels do intersect with the Darklands, but we want to go up - not down. Is that a snake I hear?"
