Saphren hear's the breaking in to the east. We have more enemies coming in the east wing! he warns. Holding his wound, he 5' steps to flank the (blue?) thug near him and cuts the man down.

Somewhat confused by the attacks, Saphren ponders These men are dashing their lives away against our blades. Have they been lied to? What reason can they have to wish to die so.

Still hearing the fighting from the kitchen and the new threat from the east he asks Trig, can you move to support the fight in the kitchen?

Trig completes her spell and runs for the kitchen, as another shining crystalline eagle appears on the other side of the thug from the first. It swoops forward into an attack, as the other one does the same.

The Raid - Round 3 - concluded

Saphren lays into the closest thug with his falchion despite his own wound. His blow is fatal to the Purple Thug.

Trig opens the kitchen door and sizes up teh situation sending an earth tremor at the feet of the attacking thug. The man shifts, stumbles and falls.

Meanwhile, another shimmering eagle appears and together they rend the man trapped between them who falls as the eagles scream their victory cry.

Saul hears the sounds of battle diminish and creeps out to peek into the foyer.

Orange Thug, finding himself now alone against a host of enemies, looks to make an exit. He steps toward the broken window and slashes at the bouncer before him, but the attack is ill aimed and glances off the man' own blade.

With the front hall mostly clear of enemies, Hans rushes to the side of his fallen companion, trying to staunch his bleeding but is unable to fix the situation so far and the bleeding continues.

In the kitchen, Trig sees another group of thugs crowding into the rear entrance. They begin to help the fallen Red Thug up as the bouncer stabs at them feebly.

One of the new thugs engages the bouncer in swordplay, wounding your man for 4 hp dmg.

Reva kneels at the bleeding Beyar's feet and gives him a sacred touch that ends his bleeding and binds his wounds, the man even starts to rouse a bit to Hans' amazement.

Bu also stops to stabilize one of the fallen thugs, stopping his fatal bleeding at least.

The crashing and breaking sounds from the east wing can now clearly be heard as the combat in the gaming room has nearly come to an end.

Bouncer 4 continues to press the attack against the remaining thug, stabbing at him with his short blade and wounding the retreating man once again.

In the kitchen Bouncer 2 attacks against the crowd at the door. His stab is turned aside by the menacing thug. The Bouncer then falls back looking for help as Trig calls the others to his aid.

Finally getting into the combat, Magnus swings his warhammer on the doubly wounded and retreating thug, but the attack misses badly.

Bouncer 1 races toward the east wing, taking his time opening the doors as he expects trouble behind each one.

A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

The Raid - Round 4 - concluded

At this point, you don't know who is down the east wing. None of your people are there. You haven't seen anyone else so far, but they are making significant racket.

As Saphren hangs on for some healing, he orders his staff person to hold at the door to the east wing.

In the kitchen, Trig casts another spell, this time making the floor greasy and slippery for the invaders. The grease spills two of the goons to floor right away, and makes movement a challenge for the others.

Vancaskerkin comes out of the vault area, shaking with rage. "Who would dare...Attack me...here at my place. We will make them pay."

Back in the scullery, the half-orc boss tries to encircle the others, by leaving through a side door, but the orc gets caught up in the grease, and rather than move, he ends up on his backside.

Hans sits on the lush carpet of the gaming floor, glad his partner's wounds have stopped, but still trying to give him aid and bind his injuries.

The thugs in the back room lash out at the eagles, who have them cooped up, first scratching then slashing one of the eagles which winks out of existence.

Both Red and White Thug are surprised to find himself on the ground, tries to stand back-up, but is unable to keep his footing and goes back down.

Down the smoke-filled corridor of the east wing appears a hooded thug holding a lit torch. "Hey boss," he yells as he sees Saphren standing at the end of the hall, "we got company. The White Thug, also prone and scraped by eagle tries to rise, provoking an attack from the nearby bouncer. The attack misses, but the lunging of the thug to avoid it causes him to fall prone again, cursing his inability to rise.

Finally, from the rear, Red Thug also tries to stand, but he continues the pattern of flopping about unable to rise.

Hans and Beyar limp along behind heading for the kitchen to lend a hand.

Blue DC 14 Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 20

End of Round 5

Is that the end of the second eagle? Can you believe I can't roll a DC 10 to get those guys out of the grease?

This round begins with Reva, Saphren, and Bu up.

Trig whispers to the bouncer in front of her, "Step out of my way so I can blast them!" but is actually making sure the thugs can hear her, hoping they might give up before she has to use another spell.

Talking as a free action out of her turn. Not sure if Trig goes before or after the bouncer or after, but if she goes before, she will delay until he moves.

"All of you who aren't fighting! Once the kitchens are cleared I want a water brigade set up! Any water we have, get it in some buckets and get ready to douse flames!"

Reva looks between the two halves of the party.

I think Bu is badly injured, and Trig has to be running short on spells. Magnus and Saphren can handle Braddikar.

"Break some heads Magnus - I'm going to check in on Blossom and Trig!"

Reva charges across the floor and into the kitchen where she encounters the group of thugs continually falling down.

Double move and swift action to pop relentless footing to add 10' movement for the round.

Move action
Standard action: I suppose it qualifies as an untrained Intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8, preferably to convince the thugs to surrender, but I'll accept giving them the shaken condition...
Considering that roll... I think I'll just go over in a corner & let the real adventurers take care of things...

Saphren, standing in the doorway, swings at his target and then deftly steps 5' to the side.

Falchion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 132d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12

He calls water himself after the less than perfect swing. Water! We need water here to fight this fire.

Can anyone cast Create Water?

The Raid - Round 6 - continued

Trying to measure the odds, Reva chooses to join the ladies in the kitchen, and rushes there with a burst of divine speed for good measure. She gets there in time to see Bu continuing to yell at the slippery thugs, but the lithe witch doesn't seem to be intimidating them anymore than their inability to get to their feet.

Saphren rips off a mighty swing with his falchion, but the foes in the east wing are a bit more nimble than the thugs in the main hall, and his attack slices some threads on the man's leathers rather than decapitating him.

One of the torch wielding ruffians slips into the space vacated by the half-orc then goes on to get around one of the bouncers. He tries to avoid any attacks with his deft and skilled movements.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO, CMD is DC with +4 mod for multiple foes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

This movement avoids AoO's from the bounces, but is not high enough to avoid an attack from Saphren (if he wants it). The hooded thug will still have a Standard action if he survives the AoO

I believe one of the bouncers had a readied action to step up and block the door, no? Or was at least delayed until after Saphren acted?

"Step back, boss. We'll have numbers on 'em this time. Don't bottleneck the door." cries Bouncer 1 waving his shortsword in the air. He delays until after Saphren's turn

Here.

It appears you are right. 100 points for trumping the GM! I guess I will retcon some of the action above, slipping the Bouncer in the initiative after Saphren the Unrelenting and re-doing the action for the hooded bad guys.

The Raid - Round 6 - revised

After Reva's rush to the kitchen, and Saphren's miss with his falchion, but strategic step backwards, Bouncer 1 steps up to fill the hole, missing with his own attack at the torch-wielding thugs beyond the door.

Hooded Thug 3 rushes towards the door, trying to knock the bouncer out of the way, but the loyal bouncer stands his ground, delivering a lick to the onrushing hood, but missing any wound to the on-rushing man.

Bouncer 4 readies an attack on any bad guys who come out the door.

IN the kitchen, bouncer 2 stabs at the prone thug right inside the doorway. He hits White Thug, opening a gash in the man's belly.

Bouncer 1 shortsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Hooded Thug 3 Bull rush vs CMD 12: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Bouncer 1 AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Bouncer 2, prone: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 4 = 14
Dmg to White: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Now the action has shifted down to Magnus.

Cranky and Clanky Male Dwarf Fighter/5 | Init +4 | Perc +6; darkvision, stonecunning | AC 24/10/24 +2 vs. aberrations | HP 57/62 | F +10 R +2 W +3; hardy, steel soul, bravery +1] | CMB +8*, sledgehammer [+2 to bullrush, overrun, sunder and trip | CMD 18 +stability | warhammer +8 (1d8+8/x3)

Axe, Readied vs. Approach: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Magnus, shoulders heaving, coughs and splutters out a few choice curses in Dwarvish as he gathers his breath. He yanks on the shirt of the nearest bouncer. "Rally our men and start a bucket chain." he spits, raising axe and shield and letting out a fresh battle cry. "These curs vill not get past me. Do not be tarrying! Move!"

It's Round 6 and the fighter would like to hit something now. I'll ready vs approach and request the bouncers fall back to fight the fire.

M Half Orc Unchained Rogue 8 (Scout) | AC 23/25 vs traps T 16 FF 18 | CMB +11 CMD 27 | HP 87/87| F +7 R +13(15 vs traps) W +6 | Init +6 | Perc +17/23 vs traps

I'd sort of have preferred to take the AOO and let the guy through, but that was not what had happened. Just keeping it real :)

Somehow this fell off my list of active campaigns, and so was ignored briefly. I will get a post up today sometime to get it back to going again, apologies!

The Raid - Round 6 - continued

Magnus orders the bouncers away in order to fight the fire. He then moves to replace them in the line, anxious for his chance to participate in the melee.

Braddikar Faje crowds down the hall to the last room on the left then re-appears in the hallway behind Saphren, stabbing the half-orc between the shoulder blades with his sword.

Bouncer 3 looks to circle around the slippery thugs in the kitchen by moving through the staff lounge to get behind or at least beside the men.

From behind the bottled up hallway, hooded thugs 1 and 2 continue using their lit torches to start the furnishings of the place on fire. Soon the walls in the hallway are actively burning as well as smoke from the guest suites.

Faje longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Saphren Dmg: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Action is down to Trig (whose last eagle fades away) and then a bunch of NPCs to finish the round.

F Gnome Sorceror (Bedrock) 6 | HP 35/35 | AC 19 T 13 FF 17 (+2 dodge bonus vs. aberrations, oozes and vermin) | Ft +6 Rf +6 Wi +7 (+2 vs illusions) | Perc +10 (+2 for stonework) | Init +6 | Spells 8/8 6/6 3/4 | Tremor 8/8

Was the bouncer able to move out of the way before Trig's turn?

Now I am totally confused. Did the bouncer with the readied action step up and attack, blocking the doorway as planned? And where did saphren's attacker come from?

Trig - Bouncer 2, in the kitchen, cleared the doorway. Your turn is up and you have a clean shot into the slippery kitchen entrance.

Saphren - after re-doing his action, Bouncer 1 slipped into the doorway following your step back, and not allowing any of the Hooded Thugs to exit yet. The man who attacked you came through the west door from Room 20, a guest suite with a door at your rear, which he had seen when in the room previously. His movement into Room 20 would provoke from Bouncer 1, but he already has taken an AoO in the round.

If it's not clear, let me know.

F Gnome Sorceror (Bedrock) 6 | HP 35/35 | AC 19 T 13 FF 17 (+2 dodge bonus vs. aberrations, oozes and vermin) | Ft +6 Rf +6 Wi +7 (+2 vs illusions) | Perc +10 (+2 for stonework) | Init +6 | Spells 8/8 6/6 3/4 | Tremor 8/8

Trig steps forward and a coruscating cone of lambent color bursts from her finger tips, engulfing the thugs on the floor.

I am with you on the attack that hit, but still have not seen the readied action of the bouncer that encouraged Saphren to step aside. Did I miss that. It should have happened right after Saphren went. The map shows the bouncer in the doorway, but did he attack?
