CHARACTER
Concept: Hard-boiled dwarven miser secretly hoping to settle down
Appearance: A wild, unwashed black beard, ruddy cheeks and a thick, bent nose are all that can be seen under an iron helm thick enough to stop an axe. His teeth match the colour of the buckle on his broad, brass belt, and a large, dome-shaped shield slung over his shoulder makes the dwarf seem rounder than he already is. He mutters in a thick dwarven accent, broken up by a dire, hacking cough.

Background:
  • Raised to a pious Dwarven family in Janderhoff
  • Has always had a poor grasp on the common-tongue, leaving the talking to his many brothers
  • His parents, although respectable dwarves in every way, could not afford a dowry for all of their sons
  • Magnus' life, then, has been consumed by a fruitless quest for gold. A few ill-fated investments into the caravans along the Crimson Coast Road, a disastrous expidition into the Darklands, even a brief stint as an adventurer, clearing out goblin warrens and tomb-breaking along the coast.
  • Eventually he caught wind of what he hoped would be a golden opportunity. The Dwarves had discovered a rich vein of Carbauxine Gas in Riddleport; a colorless, odorless gas that burns so hot in can forge mithral and adamantine.
  • He arrived in Riddleport optimistic, but before long his small fortune was gambled, drunk and (mostly) stolen away. The experience has left him defeated and cynical, with a firm belief that "Ye'll never meet a human that won't try to rob you blind."
  • However, he knows every dwarf in town, preferring to keep to his own. They drink and talk about the old country.
