The Raid - Round 6 - revised

After Reva's rush to the kitchen, and Saphren's miss with his falchion, but strategic step backwards, Bouncer 1 steps up to fill the hole, missing with his own attack at the torch-wielding thugs beyond the door.

[dice=Bouncer 1 shortsword]1d20+3
[dice=Hooded Thug 3 Bull rush vs CMD 12]1d20+1
[dice=Bouncer 1 AoO]1d20+3

Ok, so after the revision, the bouncer did step up and attack but missed (as noted above). He also was bull-rushed by the hooded figure, but stood his ground, dealing another AoO to the rusher. We didn't miss his attack or action, and he moves right after Saphren in the initiative count. Both those bouncers were just ordered to leave the combat and fight the fire, by Magnus, FYI.

The move and attack by Braddikar Faje is more problematic. He did move through the room with two doors, but I never remember to count opening a door as a move action. I will withdraw his attack for now, but you have second front to worry about tactically.

The Raid - Round 6 - Revised (again)

Braddikar Faje throws open the door to the room behind Saphren and yells curses and insults, but cannot press an attack this round.

Now on with the action, hopefully I won't make any futher errors this round...

The Raid - Round 6 - continued

As if causing the invading brigands to fall all over themselves wasn't enough, Trig then unleashes a cone of swirling colors and patterns into the room, trying to dazzle the entire troop of invaders. The three thugs all fall asleep while the half-orc boss is able to fight off the effect.

The same half-orc tosses his shield aside, and tries to rise again in the greasy goo, but fails to get up from the prone position.

In the hall near the stairs, Bouncer #2 is surprised by an attack from a thug and orc coming down from upstairs, and while the attack misses, it is another worrisome group of villains to deal with, who have already been upstairs in the casino.

In the great hall, Vancaskerkin and the bouncers rush outside to begin fighting the fire that is smouldering at the far end of the east wing.

Finally, the round ends. Another group of bad guys has been upstairs doing who knows what. The fire still burns in the east wing, but Trig's spell takes out a number of the bad guys for a while. Hopefully the tables are turning.

Reva gingerly steps onto the grease. Her legs almost go out from under her, but she keeps her footing and slashes down at the half-orc.

The Raid - Round 7

Reva steps through the slippery grease, and over the unconscious thug, plunging her blade down into the still conscious half-orc. The beast cries out in pain, but can do little to avoid the blow, and he grunts in frustration.

In the east wing, Saphren chops at Braddikar Faje through the just opening door. Without his fancy Korvosan Guard armor, Faje is a much easier target, and the rogue's falchion chews through is leather armor with ease, giving the angry centurion a wound he won't forget easily. Saphren then backs away from teh door, leaving room for Magnus to advance if he would.

At the other door, Bouncer 1 withdraws from the fight with the hooded thugs, following the orders of the dour dwarf. He heads off to help fight the fire.

In the kitchen, Bu says "It appears this area is under control. You might dispell that grease, and I will help secure these unconscious bastards before they wake again." She delays her action until after Trig's hoping the grease will be gone by then.

With the doorway clear, Hooded Thug 3 comes down the hall, drops his torch and attacks the bouncer with his rapier. That same Bouncer, also following Magnus' command, withdraws, his wound bleeding a bit, and rushes off to help quell the fire.

Bouncer 2 also delays his action seeing if the sorceress will remove the Grease so they can go about rounding up the bad guys without falling all over.

Magnus is now up followed by another host of NPC's. Looks like the door that Faje opened doesn't really go through to the hall, but the counters were blocking the wall...since you attacked him back already, let's keep it as a doorway.

Magnus' dour expression does not betray his surprise at the half-orc's skill and technique. Seeing his opening, he five-foot-steps towards Faje and swings his hammer in an arc, but a combination of Magnus' borrowed armour and the unencumbered man's speed mean that the blow simply smashes into the tiles instead.

The Raid - Round 7 - continued

Magnus stomps forward swinging his hammer at the hooded thug in front of him. The man is able to dodge the mighty, but slow moving, swing and it smashes into the nearby wall instead.

Unless you want to provoke from the thug, I had you swing at him rather than closing with Faje himself.

Braddikar Faje does move forward into the foyer, his longsword swinging at the dwarf, calling to his men "C'mon there's just two of them. Leave the fire and let's finish them now." His swing clangs off of Magnus' armor leaving him unharmed.

Outside Saul and the bouncers rush to start trying to put out the fire that still only really smoldering and not fully ablaze.

Hooded Thug 2 delays until the square in front clears. Thug 3 drops his torch and draws out his rapier.

Trig dismisses the grease in the kitchen area now that all the thugs there are unconscious. That action triggers Bu and the bouncer to move into the kitchen and begin disarming and rounding up the thugs. The bouncer works around the still battling half-orc to begin moving the sleeping thugs to a pantry in the kitchen.

On the stairs, Jasker Gant presses the attack against the lone bouncer, pummeling him severely with his bare hands until the man drops unconscious. Then Gant readies a move action.

Back in the kitchen, the prone half-orc tries to rise, now without the grease, but provoking an AoO from Reva.

The White Thug moves down the stairs and into the kitchen, opening the door for Jasker Gant who also moves in, seeing Trig and moving to her side.

Beyar and Hans move to the outer part fo the east wing ready to help extinguish the flames, while the thugs from the kitchen still sleep for another round.

Saphren chops his falchion into Braddikar Faje once again, wounding the man further, then slinking into the corner to prevent a flanking.

Bouncer 1 races out the door to help with the burning east wing.

Hooded Thug 3 stabs at Saphren with his rapier, then moves to clear the doorway. The attack misses, but the doorway is now open to the other thugs.

The Raid - Round 8 - continued

Magnus swings his hammer which crashes into Braddikar Faje with a loud smashing sound. The centurion's knees buckle and his eyes roll back in his head as he collapses to the floor in a heap.

Bouncer 3 arrives at the scene of the fire and begins putting out the flames as best he can.

In the doorway of the eastern wing, the hooded thugs each move forward. Hooded 1 stabs at Magnus with his rapier, looking for some revenge for his downed captain. The dwarf shoves the attack aside with ease and readies to bash this newcomer to the fight. The other man advances only to the doorway, unable to attack this round.

Bu and the Bouncer 4 begin tying up the asleep thugs and binding them with their belts. It's not the perfect remedy, but it will slow them down when they awake. They also remove any potential weapons from the storage room they are in, and close the door.

Bouncer 4 agrees to stand guard at the door and cry for help if they begin to get unruly.

In the heat of battle once again, Trig steps back from the oncomiing half-orc and attempts to Daze him. Even though the opponent is trained to overcome such enchantments, Trig still gets the better of him, stopping him in his tracks, stunned.

Now upright, and with the greasy goo removed, the half-orc boss withdraws, through the door and down the hall, keeping his defenses up as he backs away from the fierce inquisitor.

Seeing the gnome sorceress stop his boss, White Thug charges at Trig, his shortsword waving as he comes. The small and shifty gnome is able to avoid the attack, and grins at the opening the charging man left in his defenses (-2 to AC next round).

With Jasker Gant stunned, and the other three thugs now bound (they are effectively out of the fight unless freed by others), the round ends with Hans and Beyar joining the fire brigade working on the east wing.

A return to the action at the beginning of Round 10.

As the fallen thug attempts to stand, Reva cuts him down, ending his participation in this fight. Her attack against the half-orc monk, however ends with a hit.

Saphren races after the fleeing thug, moving within threatening range again. The man turns on him at first it appears, to fight, but then he falls to his knees his hands behind his head. "Yield!" he cries. "Quarter!"

The shot from Magnus' crossbow flies true down the hallway and through the broken window. It hits the fleeing thief with a sickening thud, but doesn't drop the man, who limps away from the firefighting bouncers.

The tide seems to have turned. It is Trig and Bu up next for the heroes.

Seeing that Saphren has matters on the floor well in hand, Blossom listens for indications of others still in combat. As she does so, she recalls signs that Reva & Trig might have use of aid. Pirouetting about she returns from almost whence she came. Seeing the remaining Orc, she sings out. "Ert þú svo hrifinn af dauða að þú munt faðma hana núna frekar en annan dag? Yfirmenn þínir munu eyða blóði þínu vegna ekkert annað en eigin gull þeirra. Er að það sem líf þitt er þess virði fyrir þig?"

Move to new location.

Orc:
"Are you so enamored of death that you will embrace it now rather than another day? Your bosses will spend your blood for nothing more than their own gold. Is that what your life is worth to you?"

"Uh, yeah, what she said!" Trig ventures, having no idea what the guttural syllables of Orcish mean.

Trip attempt with Tremor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Trig sends another ripple of earth at the orc. It passes under Reva's feet without consequence, but threatens to send her foe to the ground.

The Raid - Round 10 - continued

As the wave of earth passes underneath Reva without incident, the unarmed half-orc seems to surf the crest of it, but just as the tremor passes, he over corrects, and ends up spilled on the floor in front of Reva, prone.

Hurrying back to the kitchen, Bu gets into the path fo the on-coming orcish thug who snarls at her interference. "We will see what your life is worth, when you are broken and bleeding on the floor," he calls back to the witch.

Seeing Bu rush against the orc, Bouncer 4 retains his defensive stand guarding the door where the thugs are locked in. He looks on as the orc boss chops fiercely at the white-haired witch. Already wounded in the long combat, this blade catches Bu in the abdomen and rips a long bloody wound. She clutches her belly as she falls to ground unconscious.

Jasker Gant, the half-orc monk, finds himself prone in front of an armed and dangerous enemy. He considers his situation for a moment, then pivots on his arms, sweeping his leg behind Reva's and trying to trip her to floor as well. The attack leaves the prone monk open to an attack of opportunity from the Inquisitor, and the trip fails to bring her to the floor.

Orc Boss longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Crit confirm, orc boss: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Crit dmg to Bu: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11
Trip attempt vs Reva CMD 15, from prone: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 6 - 4 = 13

I have Bu at -7 hp, with a CON of 10. Better get her stabilized in short order...On to Round 11 for mop-up. Reva pending another AoO this time against the monk on the floor.

The Raid - Round 11

24 Reva (AoO vs Gant available)
11 Saphren
18 Magnus
11 Trig
20 Bu (unconscious and bleeding)
19 Bouncer 4 (guarding door, total defense)
7 Half-orc Boss
10 Jasker Gant (prone, pending AoO)

All of the party can act. Reva has an AoO to resolve then her normal attack roll once again.

"Blossom!" shouts Reva, her eyes going wide as she sees the witch fall. In her anxiety she almost falls to the floor from Jasker's trip attempt, but instead keeps her balance and slashes down brutally.

Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Reva's next action will depend on if the monk is taken out of the fight. If he is taken out, she will produce a scroll, 5' step, and cast cure light wounds on Blossom. If he is not out of the fight, she will attack as per below and grab the scroll.

Attack if Necessary: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Cure Light Wounds if NEcessary: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

And either way she will change her judgement to grant a +1 AC.

Magnus curses, lowering his crossbow as the man limps away. He doubles over, winded from his long jog across the hall and choking on the thick black smoke. He rolls Braddikar over with his boot and hoisting him over his shoulder, carrying him away from the smoke and flame. and quickly searching his pockets.

Magnus, ever the miser, will move Braddikar out into the hall and search him. Magnus is made for cramped dungeons and fighting in rank, not bustling foyers and long hallways. I expect the fight will be over before he gets there. :/

"Blossom!" gasps Trig, running past Rev and dancing out of the way of the prone thug.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

"Keep your filthy hands off her you piece of s##~!!" the gnome screams, pointing her finger at the half-orc on the stairs and blasting him with color.

Color spray on the orc who just took down Bu, I think it will hit her too but it probably won't do anything to her since she's unconscious. DC 16 Will save to negate. This is Trig's last spell, I believe.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 I think that should hear the yells.

The large half orc swings his falchion in what looks like a deadly arc down onto the prone man's head. At he last possible moment he turns the blade and the flat of the metal clangs against the man, doing non-lethal damage. Any watching sees Saphren scowl in having to ruin such a perfect swing.

Sap: 1d20 + 6 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 4 - 4 = 242d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12

That would be a threat, but it makes sense that it should not count using the flat of the blade.

He then turn and moves towards the screaming.
