Okay, a couple of things before we start.
First things first, congratulations on getting to level 12! That’s not easy in PFS, and it means a lot of time and dedication to your character. Eyes of the Ten isn’t just a Seeker Arc, it’s also meant to be a reward for your character getting this high. It still holds up as some of the best PFS content, so I hope you enjoy your run through.
Let’s talk timeline. The first scenario of Eyes of the Ten happened near the end of Season 1. That means that there’s no Sky Key, there’s no Hao Jin Tapestry, there’s no Cult of Lissala, and there’s not even any Shadow Lodge. There are no metaplots yet. So keep that it mind, especially during Part 1 of Eyes.
Let’s talk timeline. I’ll admit I’m not that great at timeline when it comes to PbP as I don’t have that much experience with it, but note that the whole series is the length of 5 scenarios. (Part 1 is a double length scenario). I’ll be keeping a steady pace, but keep that in mind if the first part seems long – it’s supposed to be.
Let’s talk timeline. This was written before Secondary Success Conditions and has been retrofitted with SSCs like every other pre-Season 5 scenario. The SSCs for this work a little weirdly – they depend on how many Campaign Points you get in a scenario. What’s a Campaign Point? Campaign Points are basically like mini-SSCs. In fact, they’re the predecessor of the original SSCs. Each scenario has some number of Campaign Points. You need to earn a certain number of them to get your SSC and therefore your second prestige. In addition, the number of them you earn affects something in the later parts. Don’t worry, just be a good pathfinder and all will be fine.
Let’s talk timeline. This was written back with the original 5 factions – Andoran, Cheliax, Osirion, Qadira, and Taldor. Unlike some of the early scenarios with the stupid faction missions, the faction missions in Eyes are overall well done and add to the story wonderfully. (There’s 2 in particular that are really amazing.) I’ll be passing out the appropriate faction handout to you anyway. There’s no bonus or penalty for doing them, although they may interact with the scenario in interesting ways. They’re another roleplaying hook. You may do with them what you like. (There will be one exception to this – I’ll explain when it comes up.)
Dark Archive = Cheliax
Grand Lodge = Osirion
Liberty’s Edge = Andoran
Scarab Sages = Osirion
Silver Crusade = Andoran
Sovereign Court = Taldor
The Exchange = Qadira
Let’s talk timeline. Sorry, got carried away there. Note that I’ve put a subdirectory on my website to easily host the handouts for this, since I know some people have trouble with Google Drive on phones. (At least, I do.) Please don’t go poking around the website looking for other handouts. You’ll find them. You’ll spoil yourself. You’ve been warned.
I’m still figuring out what I want to do for the maps, but one thing I will ask is that while we’re in initiative, please include at the bottom of your post what spell effects you’re under and their caster levels. Something like this:
Shield (CL 1)
Haste (CL 12)
Mirror Image (CL 12), 4 images left
It’s a thing I ask people IRL to do w/ index cards and it makes it so easy in figuring out stuff like greater dispel magic at these tiers.
Okay, I think that’s all the boring business stuff. I’ll be sending out the PMs with the faction missions for Part 1 now. If you have any questions please feel free to respond in thread or in PM.
Ralph Cauthorn |
One small thing. I am in the Exchange faction, but was sent a link to the Osirion faction mission. Was this intentional or should I be sent a link to the Qadira faction mission?
Koraq Dragonclaw |
Dispel magics? Why would you do a thing like that? :)
Oh yes, I have to admit that I've ran Eyes before, but I promise on my VL station and my 5 stars not to use that knowledge for wrecking the GM's scenario inappropriate metagaming ;)
Ralph Cauthorn |
FYI my first two posts in the gameplay thread were significantly edited after their initial postings, and discuss how I plan to give us a head-start in the scenario. Do give them a good read and let me know if you agree to go along with Ralph's plan, and feel free to propose any other hour-per-level buff that you would like Ralph to provide. I can provide 2 such buffs from the druid, cleric or bard spell list up to 6th level because my archetype is awesome.
Currently I am planning on using them on Heroes' Feast and a CL16 Greater Magic Fang for Koraq.
Koraq Dragonclaw |
Of course I am all in favor for that plan :) DR ?/adamantine has nothing on me now, although my plan of hitting those things really hard still works, just more efficiently.

Ralph is able to spontaneously convert any of his spells into fireball or a metamagicked version of fireball, so I can afford to memorise spells that are slightly more situational but are absolute life-savers when they come up. None of my prepared spells at 3rd level or higher will ever be 'wasted' in that sense. Life Bubble is also useful because of the very long duration, so I can cast it the night before if I still have it memorised, and have it on the next day even after recovering my spells. :)

Hey guys, for those that haven't yet - I would like a list of scenarios that your character has played. I'm looking for potential boons that are relevant as well as if you've met certain NPCs before.

*shakes head*
We'll see how high this gets by the time its done.

Re: Maps
I realized today that I have all the maps already set up in Roll20 from one of my previous runs of EotT. Would you guys be okay with me copying that table and just using Roll20 for this campaign or would you want to use Google Drawings?
EDIT: Also Géatan, you should pick an avatar so that when we break into combat I have something to represent you by.
Koraq Dragonclaw |
While I'd prefer Google Maps, if everyone else is good with Roll20, that would work.
My PFS Lavode De'Morcaine |
I have no preference which you use for maps.
One question. There is some disagreement on whether the summon monster spells only use the Bestiary 1 or potentially all of them for PFS. What is your position?
It isn't that huge of deal, I think I have always been able to find something useful to summon. Elementals if nothing else. The only reason I ask is thematic. Since I am a celestial bloodline sorcerer, I prefer to summon some sort of celestial as a combat ally or a fiend for a suicide mission. There aren't as many celestials in just the first Bestiary. But like I said, it is not that big a deal either way.

Google maps is best because the maps are based off satellite images. But if the google satellites do not cover Golarion, I prefer Google Drawings or Google Slides over roll20 because they are easier to access on the phone when I'm on duty or out on patrol.
But if it is alot easier to use roll20, I can work around it.

Summon spells only use Bestiary 1 for creatures. The only time this should really come into question is for elementals, but Mark Moreland clarified back when he was PFS staff that this was intended as only Bestiary 1 elementals. That being said, over the past couple years there has been a bunch of resources for expanding that list (Summon Good/Neutral/Evil Monster in various splats, as well as Expanded Summon Monster in Monster Summoner's Handbook and the rings from the ACG), but you need to spend character resources to access those.

Should I be consider falling my mission if I demand someone to open a certain place?

Question...was it the legendary hard mode?
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Mars |
So one thing to remember about old faction missions is that before Season 3 (which this scenario is), faction missions generally had 2 parts. In this case, your particular mission is asking you to do 1 thing, and then saying that it would be better if you could do it in this way. So asking Eliza about the item would get you 1/2 goals on the mission; figuring out some other way of getting it would get you 2/2 goals.
This was not the only opportunity you'll have at accessing that item.
I don't think I understand your hard mode question. In terms of PFS scenarios with hard mode, this is not one of them.

Ralph Cauthorn |
I assume this is referring to my post about the Waking Rune. It wasn't because a friend of mine was afraid that his highest level character would get killed in a party-wipe. Maybe in hindsight we could have gone for hard-mode, because with all the crap that we did to Krune, he was hardly able to do a thing to us in normal mode.
1. Archer killed the herald of Lissala very quickly, and after checking for regeneration, we killed her permanently.
2. I made the knowledge check for the runes. We had myself and 2 sorcerers - one of them was Lavode who is in this game too - and between us we were able to disable the runes with very few resources because I was able to discover exactly what was required to disable them. Ralph is too arrogant to state this unless asked, but Lavode and the other sorcerer were very valuable in helping to disable the runes with their spells too.
3. We killed the last guards easily. I don't even remember what they were, though I vaguely remember there were 3 humanoids.
4. We got to Krune just before he emerged from his cocoon. I readied an action to shoot him with an enervation and then beat him in initiative for another enervation, so his caster level got debuffed hard. The 2 sorcerers used pilfering hand spells to steal his 2 artifacts, and one of them was also his bonded item!
5. Krune's first action is to dimension door away, but we quickly spread out to find him. I dimension doored with the sorcerer-paladin and we saw him in the distance. We call out to the others, and Krune summoned a creature that removed his negative levels.
6. The paladin-sorcerer goes to attack Krune with his own spear, and I think he got a crit. I think the archer got to shoot a few arrows as well. I threw a massive fireball at Krune and the paladin-sorcerer with the paladin-sorcerer's permission, and that was enough to kill Krune.
He did not have a good day at all.

So finishing up the response post for the Talespinning, but let me just say that this was awesome! You guys did an amazing job with your stories and they were really fun to read. (And so close to a perfect score all around - even with the story bonus Géatan was still slightly off from impressing Osprey.)
Géatan Émond |
So I hit at 34 with 20 damage and my ac is now 30 with a cmd of 39.
My PFS Lavode De'Morcaine |
Sorry, I tried several times yesterday. The forums wouldn't let me make my post. Every time I hit submit it all just vanished.
I brought my work laptop home. It will let me post, but won't let me to the map site. No cloud media allowed.
GM Mars |
This is what the map looks like currently. Feel free to describe where you're going and I can move you.
My PFS Lavode De'Morcaine |
Ok, this is weird. I can look at and manipulate the map (assuming it moved me to the second story portion) on my tablet. But I can only post form my work laptop.
I am done with my turn now.
I will just bring my laptop home at night until I can figure out what the problem is with my tablet. Should be no more delays from me.

How do you guys feel about flooding-the-field with monsters?
Some players/GM's don't like it. The time isn't really a factor in PbP, but it can still be confusing to some with so many creatures and look like I'm trying to 'hog the spotlight.'
Note: I don't usually have time or any reason to summon lots of creatures. But I thought I'd ask before it potentially comes up. I am likely to summon a creature next turn (I was thinking an earth elemental to find and remove Eliza from the combat zone). But that would probably be all for this fight unless the numbers keep stacking up against us.
Géatan Émond |
I like the idea.

I will point out that it's a favored tactic of mine as a player, so it would be definitely be karma for me. (I have a character that's designed to flood the field with small earth elementals and stirges.)
I might throw a little shade if there were 6 PCs plus pets, but you guys only have 4 and no companions, so seems like good tactics.
Koraq Dragonclaw |
Don't matter to me. The way these guys are hitting, a couple of other meatshields would be good!
Géatan Émond |
I concur. I was feeling invincible. But then bad roll occur. In melee ,to hit is better than moderate damage.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Ok, I always like to 'poll the table' before I try some types of tactics.
Also feel free to call out in character if you want a certain type of creature or buff from me. Lavode is really ok with suggestions. (Some of my other PC's don't take so kindly to others telling them what to do.)
Ralph Cauthorn |
No problem with summons. I highly recommend the shadow demon, but I understand that Lavode might not like summoning demons because of his alignment and heritage.
And after what just happened, maybe that's another reason Lavode won't be summoning shadow demons.
My PFS Lavode De'Morcaine |
Historically, Lavoie normally summons either angel types or elemental. Few of them have actually died.
He usually only summons a demon when it is a certain death task or once when I needed a particular type of energy attack.
However, in this case... Probably not so much.
Probably reasonable to assume he would cast a few defensive buffs while huddled in fear back home. So I will teleport back with a few buffs in case things are still happening.
Gayel Nord |
I realised that if a venture-captain has been killed one shot, there a good change we are against at least a level 4 assassin. If he is level 10.. that sad for Adril.
If someone could have push him he could still be alive... or maybe if we had remark a certain clue in the talespins... we could have put them in defence.
But why he didn't take any armor or weapon...Why?
Koraq Dragonclaw |
Well we were on an escort mission, so us carrying combat gear is appropriate. Adril, though, knew that this was something more diplomatic or social, and presumably traveled accordingly.

Ralph Cauthorn |
Ralph actually considered protecting him, but decided that a warrior VC would at least have the hit points and abilities to survive one round.
Part of the reason he is pissed off is that after all his big talk about joining the Decemvirate, he turned out to be so useless. If Adril is brought back to life, Ralph will not be showing him much respect. :)
So right now the downstairs area is cleared and Ralph has half-cleared the upstairs area. Holding off the Pink Chicken for a few rounds is easily within his capabilities, so I'm not too worried.
Géatan Émond |
I don't think this demon heard you speaking in infernal....Oh my gosh...

gives me twomorrow. I am thinking in... What would erastil likes?

The bigger question is, do you want to be left in complete darkness with a shadow demon. Geatan has encountered shadow demons before. What would he choose? ;)
Géatan Émond |
Idea for lavode could you ruin and cry for help? (some pathfinder will realised it a fear effect and cast you something?)

Interesting idea. GM Mars, what do you think? If he runs around the lodge in a tizzy, will someone maybe cast a remove fear on him before the panic wears off anyway?
Géatan Émond |
Question... the reason we haven't see our druid yet... it is because he is still inside the worm?
