Géatan Émond |
I want to continue this game.
I really want.
GM Hmm |
Hey Gang, this is GM Hmm.
Swampting contacted Endless Forms and myself about finding you a replacement GM and player. I have confirmed with Jen that she wanted to step down. Real life has hit her hard, and she needs time to regroup.
Neither Mike nor I can GM it. We can likely find you a GM to help you guys finish out. Meanwhile, I would like to take this group's pulse. Who is still here? Are we down to three players?
If we are down to three, we have two alternatives.
1) Find someone who has played parts one and two, but not three. This is the ideal.
2) Find someone who has played Eyes before, and who has another level 12 or 13 character to play part three for no credit.
I am willing to recruit for this in Flaxseed, but I want your go ahead.

Great. I also have a GM for you guys... Silbeg. So now I am going to start up the discussion in Flaxseed to see if we can get you your fourth player!

Good day!
I'm the fool that offered to take over... please be patient, as I will want to read the full bread to see what you've done already. I will be also looking over your characters so that I know what I am dealing with, and have to see where we are in game.
Luckily, I have already run this once, and played it for that matter. Should be fun!
Géatan Émond |
Thanks you. I hope Jen is going well.
Koraq Dragonclaw |
I'll message Scotty again on FB about the game. I'm still in, although as I noted before, posting will be irregular for me for a while.
Let me know when you're ready GM Silbeg and I'll go over the ins and outs of my PC. Basically, it's punch things real hard, but there are a few tricks :P
GM..Silbeg |
So, I am guessing that it is Ralph, Géarin, and Koraq that remain of the team.
Summing up, from a ten thousand foot view, we have a martial artist, a wizard, and an archer fighter?
I'll dig into the characters later, but how are you handling healing, etc? I am starting to read the thread, but will likely take me the week to get through. If you all have summary/explanation sheets that would help me understand your characters, you could send me a PM or (email me, my email is listed in the organizers, as I am Jack Brown, Venture-Captain Minnesota -- Minneapolis)
If you use Hero Lab, you could also send me your .por file.
Finally, I wanted to point out the obvious. I probably run things slightly differently than GM Mars did. For one, I typically use google slides for tactical and handouts. This, of course, has its pluses and minuses, but it is sort of what I am used to.
Please check out my profile for some things I prefer as a GM... I am sure you are all pretty experienced play-by-post players, so I am not worried. We just want to make sure we are on the same wavelength.
For buffs, I will likely be creating a slide to track these... or perhaps a spreadsheet. I ask that you keep your tag line up to date with saves and ACs.
I would like to try something for knowledge checks... please just roll something like this:
Knowledge on critter: 1d20 ⇒ 19 and I will apply your skill bonus, if any. I will then give you what information, if any, you know. This is when I don't just roll for you (which I might try doing).
If you have any questions as to my GMing style, or would like to see a game that I ran to know how I typically try and do things, just let me know.
GM..Silbeg |
One more thing, please.
Can you make available you chronicles from he first two parts, please?
jackbrown.mn.pfs at gmail
Also note the tactical currently linked is from another game.
GM Hmm |
Just so you know, I have not yet heard is anyone out there has a character with parts one and two on them.
TOZ has a rogue/fighter. There are also a few others thta I have heard from who are interested in playing for no credit. Is there a specific role they need to fulfill? I am giving folks through today to see if anyone has a character with parts one and two on them.
Hmm
Ralph Cauthorn |
TOZ, thank you for joining us so we can keep this game going. I think that there will be a problem if you bring your bard. You will still be issued a chronicle for 0xp and 0pp, and you cannot have two of the same chronicle on a character.
Silbeg, the chronicle sheets that we got for parts 1 and 2 are linked at the top of the thread. When you read through part 2, can you confirm that we got 0 campaign points in that adventure? I am not sure whether we really did that badly or Iammars just forgot to put give us our campaign points.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary of Ralph:
Ralph is a spell sage 13. The archetype is versatile, but straight-forward.
He has preferred spell fireball and can use any of his prepared spells to cast a fireball or metamagicked fireball of the same spell level. He has magical lineage and spellhunter traits so the cost of metamagic on his fireballs is reduced by 2 spell levels.
His archetype's main abilities are being able to sacrifice two prepared spells to cast any spell from the cleric, druid or bard spell list of an equal or lower level. He can do this 3 times per day. He can also give himself a +4CL boost on a spell twice per day. Currently he uses it for a greater magic weapon spell on Koraq.
Ralph has a ring of invisibility that he uses extensively. He also likes to have emergency force spheres prepared to protect himself in a pinch. Like most high-level wizards, he excels at intelligence-based skill checks and has a good modifier on all knowledge checks.
Ralph Cauthorn |
Summary of Geatan from Ralph's perspective (mechanics only):
Narrowly focused but deadly archer.
Summary of Koraq from Ralph's perspective (mechanics only):
Deadly in the front lines and incredible grappler. Ralph keeps a telekinetic charge spell prepared specially to throw him at enemy spellcasters.
Géatan Émond |
Summary of Gaétan
Gaétan is a fighter 10 (Lore warden)/ Sentinel of Erastil 3.
He have a good CMB and CMB because of the archetype (a +4) and a abilty to give him more damage if he correctly identify the weakness of a ennemy.
His main ability is to shoot Arrows. Anywhere, anytime. Even when the monster is on front of you or a swarm. As his secondary skilld, have some good perception, a passable survival, correct knowledge (but dwarf by Ralph)
Gaétan is my version of How can I do the most damage possible? And than I created his identity as a new born erastilien.
Summary of Ralph from Géatan perspective. (mechanics only):
Not a one trick pony, always seem to have the right spell for the right moment.
Summary of Koraq from Gaétan's perspective. (mechanics only):
(as Ralph said) Deadly in the front lines and incredible grappler with a love to fight Gorilla.
GM..Silbeg |
As for campaign points, I will go through and calculate them to the best of my ability. I will also try PMing Iammers to see if she has anything for me. However, I will not be letting you know how many you have earned until it is all over (as knowledge can modify how you play).
Quick question, has anyone played, GMed, or read the series before?
Géatan Émond |
Nope. The traitor was a surprise for me. Even if it been 5 years I am in pfs.
GM..Silbeg |
Ralph, can you walk me through how you could get 22D6 on your fireball? It doesn't parse for me.
GM..Silbeg |
Oh, here's an unfortunate twist... I cannot see the map on Roll20, so I cannot tell where everyone is.
If it were possible for someone to take a screen shot of it, that'd be great. Otherwise, we may have to reboot the combat (which I'd prefer not to do).
Koraq Dragonclaw |
I have ran it. I think for the first two sessions, the GM verbally told us how the campaign points were for each of us.
So my PC: I'm mostly Martial Artist monk with single level dips in Barbarian and Bloodrager. Martial Artist allows me to be any monk alignment, so the Barbarian raging still works. Better yet, I am immune to fatigue so I can pulse my rage rounds without penalty (oddly, 1/rage rage powers on this PC yet). I can either controlled rage to add +4 to one of my physical stats or blood rage for claws and the normal rage bonuses/penalties.
Koraq mostly focuses on either single heavy hits with Vital Strike (and enlarging through potions or Ralph), or stun flurries to then activate Medusa's Wrath. The damage, especially when raging, is high, thanks to Dragon Style/Dragon Ferocity and the furious enchantment on my amulet of mighty fists. I can throw in elemental damage with Elemental Fist or Between my high speed and Dragon Style, I can reach most enemies in the first round without flying.
I have Improved Grapple, but I also took the half-orc monk favored class bonus for +1/2 to Stunning Fists/day and to my CMD vs grapple. So I can grapple well AND my grapples are hard to break out from.
Finally, I use Exploit Weakness a lot to handle my targets; swift action to make a Wisdom check = 10 + CR of the target, and if I pass that, I either get +2 to hit ignore ALL DR and Hardness of the target, or get +5 to my AC/Reflex/Sense Motive checks versus the target for 1 round.
Other interesting thing: I reduce all ability damage or drain by 2, to a minimum of 0. Like I would be poisoned with my massive Fort save, but still :P
Ralph Cauthorn |
Ralph, can you walk me through how you could get 22D6 on your fireball? It doesn't parse for me.
Intensified empowered fireball. Spell specialisation increases my CL by 2 when casting fireball.
Technically it was (15d6 x 1.5), but I just did 22d6 since you can't do multiplication on the RNG.
GM..Silbeg |
Ok, thanks. That makes more sense. Please do calculate the multiplier rather than additional dice while I am running. If need be, note that it is X1.5 and I will do the calculation.
Generally speaking it won't make a difference, but RAW it is the correct way to play.
GM..Silbeg |
I have caught up with the thread pretty much, but I cannot see the combat map.
Could someone take a screen shot of it and send it to me?
That would help a lot.
Then, as soon as I can see the tactical situation, I will get things going again.
One note on GMing style, I typically roll saves as soon as they are called for, so as to not delay the resolution. I've found it to be much better both as a player and GM, so that we can know what happened.
I will also have to interpolate where Auris will go. I am likely going to drop him in where Scotty was.

I have put our map in you onglet tactical map. I think the square section are the dust.
GM..Silbeg |
Thanks... that would a good start.
I'll rebuild this nicely, and once Auris pings in... we should be going again....
GM..Silbeg |
Ok, I think I got everything but Auris on the map, and I will get him. there soon.
GM..Silbeg |
I'll be starting up initiative again tonight. Just have to finalize a couple of decisions.
Auris, you can be the recipient of any buffs that Scotty got, just let me know what you are taking.
I will need to roll all of the concealment checks, which could result in some changes to the combatants. Also, as long as you are in the cloud(s), you'll need to make reflex saves on your turn.
Finally, I think the only fair thing (though Auris might not agree) is that Auris also takes over the conditions that Scotty had incurred (specifically the blinded from the dust). That keeps the initial balance.
GM..Silbeg |
At least for defense. Doesn't help his attacks any, but thanks for being understanding.
Géatan Émond |
(I have a smile when i say this) Remind me if we need Adril alive? Or why we just fight the monsters when he is just close?? (beside those monsters trying to kill us of course.)
GM..Silbeg |
Venture-Captain Eliza Petukengro wanted him alive, per her briefing, so that he could answer for his crimes. Perhaps Géatan could attack non-lethally?
Géatan Émond |
I was thinking of this. I have some blunt arrow that would work.
( but i would need before to get out first of the cloud. And if he know me ... he know I can pack a little (but I suppose he have a protection or something. Still I could try. But in a same way. This is our blinded "prince" combat)
GM..Silbeg |
@here -- I am considering the issue on the air elementals, and I guess I'll probably leave it the same. I would say that it would take a 1 round (much like a summon monster spell) to clear the air, not full action (like a full attack).
Does that make sense?
It would probably clear the air around the whirlwind... but note that if the whirlwind touches the ground, the effect of the whirlwind would make the clearing pretty much moot.
Koraq Dragonclaw |
Sorry, I will be able to post tomorrow! Sorry or any delays on my end :)
Ralph Cauthorn |
I think it was me rather than Koraq who was up, but I did not do much. Plan is to use my air elementals to even the playing field for Koraq and Geatan. Ralph will watch invisibly and be ready to respond to new complications or developments. Go ahead and tell us how badly Geatan pincushions the nearest girallon.
Auris remember to apply the extended CL17 greater magic weapon to one of your weapons.
GM..Silbeg |
It is fine, Koraq, you are currently NOT up!
t
GM..Silbeg |
For the record, Ralph, even though I think it makes your fireballs pretty stupid, I don't agree with the ruling that Jen made a while back.
Spells modified by a metamagic feat use a spell slot higher than normal. This does not change the level of the spell, so the DC for saving throws against it does not go up.
So, unless you heighten the spell (which does increase the spell level), there is no reason you cannot use a lesser rod on a third level spell with a metamagic, such as intensify or persistent.
Or is there something I am missing
