Sunday Daud |

Yeah... I'm sorry.

Krysta Amethysta |

And we stumble on one of the reasons the unchained barbarian beats the regular beyond just simpler math. They can't die just from dropping out of rage. I just wish they would have gone back and applied that to the skald/bloodrager as well.

Vivi Evan Eni |

Likewise... perhaps we can find a scroll of Resurrection or some such (granted they are expensive, but willing to bet there might be some treasure here assuming we survive) to bring you back.
Like with Sunday, Vivi had more IC reason to attack the lamia.

Krysta Amethysta |

Same with Krysta, she has a grudge there, even if this isn't the right Lamia. If you can even just keep gentle repose cast on her Jess would be able to revive her once you get met up with her again. Not that you know you'll see her again or anything.

Valonia Nisassa |

The issues more having Rage on a d8 dice to be honest rather than dying from dropping out of rage. All the AC penalties and none of the health advantages make it incredibly rough for skalds.
RE Resurrection there's a few problems even aside from affording one.
1. We have no way of casting a Resurrection Scroll without a super high UMD check.
2. Theres no reason for Val to come back. Just as everyone had an IC reason for prioritizing the lamia, Valonia has no IC reason to return. Valonia's last moments are seeing everyone run off towards the lamia, leaving her to fight the giant alone. Now, as a player I fully understand, but I struggle to see an IC reason for Valonia to want to return.
EDIT ok Jess can cast it. Still leaves #2 being a problem though.

Krysta Amethysta |

I understand Val, I just wish your characters didn't keep getting the short end of the stick like they have. Something always seems to drive them off or kill them off.
Maybe you'll get treated to a view of the reaction your death has, to show that they care what happens to you to give you a reason to want to come back? For what it's worth Krysta's now going to be torn over who she has more desire to slaughter, the snakey b###+ or the giant that just killed you.

Delendir Farnes |

This is not chess and two-handed weapon criticals kill, so just sorry it landed on your side this time.
Raging Vitality is some kind of a tax feat for any raging character, as much as Toughness is for any gish front-liner.
Loot at it from the good side. You can have some fun on thinking to return as a warpriest or inquisitor of death or perhaps as a paladin to stubbornly complete your mission.

If it makes you feel any better, I did not purposely set out to kill you. I never try to kill my players, I just try to do my best to play the baddies and NPCs how I think they would act. This one was tough because of the sneaky snake b+%$* and she tried to separate you successfully, knowing how much you want her.
Bad luck on the crit hitting you really. Add to that the rage bit discussed above and that's how we are where we are!
On another note...
This next week and a half is going to be very busy for me. My boss just accepted another job and so I'm going to have to start acting for him during the transition while I prepare to apply for that job. In addition, I am starting preparations for my annual bocce tournament that I host next Saturday which takes ALL of my time (I literally take the whole week off to prepare).
I hoping as we move through the end of the summer things will get a little more consistent for me. I've had a rough summer, I apologize for the slower response and I appreciate all of your patience!

Valonia Nisassa |

Silver lining, its a cool RP moment for Krysta actually. This Lamia thing has now been responsible for two people gettinh hurt that are a part of Krysta's horde. Snakey b$!~# wont be living long.
Raging Vitality is illegal for Skalds to take because they dont get the Rage Class Feature :(
S'OK
Also GM I know you didn't set out to kill me, it was excellent tactics on our enemies part, combined with a bit of bad luck. Its all good.

Vivi Evan Eni |

No worries Shadow, not like you set out delibrately to get a concussion just to cause us to go slower.... or did you.... nah, that isn't logical.
Hope that you get the promotion and that you do well in your tourney (I've never played bocce but I understand that it can be somewhat competitive).
As for you, Val, I suppose the only way we will know is if we ask your character's spirit, eh? Perhaps she will have some unfinished business with teaching Sunday some manners or whatnot (no derision meant to Sunday by that)... or perhaps she will learn some reason that she needs to come back... or maybe she will have found peace and have no reason to, as you said. All I can say is that Vivi will insist on trying.

Krysta Amethysta |

Yeah, once she gets done tearing this snake's head off she may well eat the stone giant limb by limb. At least until she realizes he's made of flesh not rocks.

Valonia Nisassa |

Yep, you would need to ask her spirit.
Just realized the critical hit didn't matter though (which makes me feel a bit worse), since the Giant had a 3rd attack remaining. I actually still die regardless. Rage or no Rage, any d8 class had no business being in melee with him. My bad.

Krysta Amethysta |

I will be out of town Wed thru Sunday at GenCon this week and unable to post during that time. Please bot me as needed.

Sunday Daud |

Yay! Welcome back!

Sunday Daud |

Okies, have fun!

Congratulations on completing book three, we're halfway there folks!
There is no new level just yet, but you're more than halfway there. I know Krysta mentioned switching to Jessica at some point and Valonia needs to decide if she's going to stick with the party after these events or is he coming in with someone else. If sticking with Valonia, I need to know who Krysta is seeking out in Magnimar and what level of spell she is looking for (to determine its cost and caster who could attempt it).
I hope your mini-vaca is going well Yavenee.
On a personal front with me just so I'm being transparent, I acting in my bosses job and doing my job as well, so my ability to post during work has been greatly diminished. I apologize for longer than normal gaps between my posts, I'm still committed to keep this train rolling forward.

Yavenee |

It was. Way too short, but good.
Sorry to see you Go Valonia.
If we want to tie thing up a bit more quickly I might be able to resolve our whole doing two things at once. If the party wants to stay the night, or maybe two here in relative safety and take time to fully recover, I can Teleport with Krysta and Val's body to take her to a temple. If Valonia decides not to come back, I'm sure a cleric can cast Speak with dead before attempting Raise Dead or Resurrection (I'd think that's likely standard operating procedure rather than waste a spell on someone who doesn't want to come back.
We can take care of that in a couple of hours, talk to whoever we need to in Magnimar, then Teleport back.
The next day we can risk a teleport to Sandpoint if someone describes it really well, or I can pick somewhere closer that we've been before.

Krysta Amethysta |

Actually, Sunday said he can speak with willing dead. Krysta could wait long enough for him to try and we find out that she is unwilling then we can just Teleport to Sandpoint. Except you haven't been there before have you Yavenee?

Sunday Daud |

He was being prosaic (my mistake) because he knows Necril, the undead language.
He can't use the speak with dead spell or something similar, though that would be cool.

Krysta Amethysta |

Have you been to Magnimar then Yavenee? I don't honestly recall at what point you came into the game though I knew it was after we left Sandpoint.

Sunday Daud |

That's where we got her.

Krysta Amethysta |

In answer to your question Shadow, Krysta will have Yavenee teleport them to Magnimar and then will book it to the temple of Shelyn with Valonia's body. She will speak to the clergy there to see if they can help her, probably someone suggests speaking to the body first to see if she wants to be raised before wasting the effort trying it.
She'll enlist their aid in getting help from the city guard/militia/army for Sandpoint before flying there, probably resting and eating before she heads out again.
Sorry to see you go Valonia, I understand though.

Yavenee |

If the party rests here overnight I can teleport us back here the next day. Finish heal us up and then we head out from here

Delendir Farnes |

Goodbye Valonia/Elissai, it has been 4 years now of shared adventure with all its up and downs. I still hope you find fun and meaning on your other campaigns and this is not a bye to all your Pathfindering.
Good luck!

Vivi Evan Eni |

So I hate to ask this, but I feel now would be appropriate. With Val bowing out entirely, are we going to replace her or soldier on with who we have? On paper 5 folks should be enough, so I have no preferences... but if the sentiment is to bring on another now would probably be an ideal time, I would think.

Krysta Amethysta |

Well, I'm swapping back to Jess shortly so while we gain magical power we lose a significant amount of muscle between Valonia and Krysta. Granted we are in good shape because we still have You, Del, and Sunday so I agree that I think we will be fine. That being said I am not adverse to finding another PC if everyone else wants to.

Delendir Farnes |

Me too, I also think we will be fine, but we always have the opportunity to add someone later on.
I am eager to see how has Jessica changed while we were away :)

GM ShadowLord |

Val - I'm sorry to see you go, thanks for playing with us these last years. I'm sorry you died, it is NEVER my intention to kill a player. If you ever decide you'd like to return, please drop me a PM and I'll see where the campaign is. As you've seen, older players have come and gone and as long as we're still here and not overfull - you're welcome back.
As for adding new blood, I will go with the flow on whatever the party wants to do. If and when you are ready to add someone, just let me know and we can definitely do that.
- - -
I know there was some discussion around different plans, but I am waiting for you all to actually enact them. There's been some mention of camping here the night. If you want to do that, I'll gather up the remaining loot from inside and say you camp secure this place for evening. Feel free to pick it up from there and let me know who is going where and how.
I don't intend to RP day-by-day to get your destinations. Just give me a synopsis of where you are going and what you are doing at each location and I'll wrap it all together and get us to our final place.
This may also be an opportune time to tally your loot and get supplies in Magnimar. If you're heading back to Sandpoint, you'll once again be away from an economy that you can purchase items for your level.

Sunday Daud |

Sunday is going to take Lamatar to Myriana.
He’ll accompany Niosa, but I don’t know if it would be a good idea for her to come along.

Yavenee |

So let's go over.
Yavenee/Krysta teleport to Magnimar with Val's body.
Party camps in caves.
Yavenee/Krysta return
Then either we all go to Myriana or Yavenee/Sunday teleport to Myriana with Lamatar's body.
Head back. Whole party moves forward.
It Yavenee teleports the party to ferry.
I haven't been to Sandpoint but I can get us partway there

Sunday Daud |

If it's not still storming Sunday could fly to Myriana while everyone camps.

Delendir Farnes |

I propose you go to Magnimar and the rest we go to Myriana. Next day we can meet at Turtleback Ferry, which is probably the easiest place for you to teleport back.
You teleport the rest of the party back to Magnimar. From there I believe to remember it was like a 2 days walk to Sandpoint, and if Krysta had time to request help in Magnimar we can walk back to Sandpoint with an army or at least a bunch of guards or temple champions.
We don't know if we are still in time, but being able to teleport we might have a chance to stop the attack if it has not yet happened.

Vivi Evan Eni |

Vivi would probably head back on that first trip to Magnimar and begin walking ahead of the rest to give them warning. He has the fastest base speed and can probably get there in a day or a day and change if he hurries. He also has the least need for getting gear in Mag, so it makes sense that he would be the advanced warning party. If he encountered the town ablaze he would start trying to get civilians out of the thick of it.

Delendir Farnes |

It sounds good to me Vivi.

Delendir Farnes |

It seems we are halted on decision making once more xD
I think the rough idea is clear overall. Some teleport to Magnimar, others stay to bring the remains of the commander.
To move forward is probably better Yavenee posts the teleporting stuff on the Gameplay whatever way you have understood we are doing, or otherwise the GM sum up things whatever way he understood. I think one of this is the best to see us moving forward.
Good weekend everyone!

Krysta Amethysta |

As a modification let's Yavene and I teleport to magnimar with our soon to refuse resurraction companion and deal with that. We can find out she won't come back and then alert the the temple to request the city send troops to support Sandpoint. From there I can try and fly us both to Sandpoint, it'll be a challenge but I think we can pull it off, and then she can teleport out, get the others, and bring them straight to the town.
I think we are waiting on you now Yav!

Sunday Daud |

Sounds like a plan.

Vivi Evan Eni |

Assuming there is room, Vivi would come with. Assuming a Sandpoint is a combat zone, it would give Krysta a combat partner while delaying the foes for the rest of whatever forces we can muster arrive. And assuming we have time, it would give an extra set of hands to build defenses and whatnot.
But first, he would give one last search of the cave while the spell was being prepared. Will post that now.

Yavenee |

I'm not sure I understand anything you just said above Vivi
And of course, getting slammed with outages at work turns "shortly" into hours later
