OK, given this does impact everyone else, I'd like people's feedback.
Go ahead and read the Mayor spoiler if you haven't already. Is anyone out of character going to have a major problem if Vivi does something with the reward money besides hold on to it for you guys? 5000 GP is a lot of money, after all... and it is not like Vivi was expecting this particular wrinkle.
My thoughts:
In character, Vivi is kinda torn. He wants to get extra defenses to Sandpoint, and if the money will guarantee that he is willing to throw it that way. That said, he also does not view the money as his, given the task was not accepted by him, but rather his companions. While he doubts that Delendir or Sunday would mind losing out on that much coin for the guarantee of reinforcements facing the giants and defending Sandpoint, he doesn't know Krysta ("Dragons like gold, right?") or Yavenee ("Witches can make scary hexes if crossed.")... and further, he doesn't know if the resurrection of Val will cost money or not... or if she would want some of that money if she does come back.
Out of character, I am leaning toward paying the guards, assuming there are a decent number of them. Fighting giants and their armies will be hard, so having numbers might turn the tide and save the town. That said, extra gold might make the difference between having extra gear and potions that keep us from following Val into the boneyard during said battle.
Side note: I am in Southern VA, so we are keeping an eye on that hurricane. It probably won't give us much more than some rain and maybe some strong winds, especially where I am, but I will try to keep you posted.

I have neither read any of your spoilers.
I do appreciate you ask the group out of character before taking a decision that affects the party economics. In my case I am either ok with how Vivi resolves to spend the money.
Before going with the guards though, I would make sure first ShadowLord is ok with adding that kind of support to the mix, because the rules of the game are not really supportive on adjudicating mass combat.
Out of character is probably better for the fun of everyone, and specially our GM, to spend the money on some magical help.

Well, knocking on wood but it seems to have passed us with not too much damage. We got a decent amount of rain and the winds caused us to lose power for about 5 or 6 hours (not too bad restoral times under the circumstances) but we are back up and running again now. Thanks for the well wishes.

So I have Jess built to level 10, just need to polish of equipment upgrade. Not sure how you want me to handle that.
As long as you are not trading out any of Krysta's gear to other party members, just equip her with average wealth for level 9. ROTR is a bit wealth-starved and so level ten would be a bit high I think.

On another note, unfortunately I wasn't here for your interactions with Sandpoint the first time around. As such, I don't really know the history you might have with the NPC's. Yeah, Krysta's gear is Krysta's gear and I don't think she accepted anything that was found for the simple fact I knew she wouldn't be staying forever.

The main thing I can think of was that Vivi and Ameiko kind of had a thing going. Beyond that I can't recall much and will have to go back and look. The only one of question is what happened with the grocer's daughter. I can't recall who she tricked into the basement or what the end result actually was.

The only memorable think I remember is Vivi dating Ameiko. There was something about a dress, but Delendir did not care actually.
The ranger was working in a farm that was destroyed by giants and burnt likely by goblins. He moved to the city to convince the Sheriff and Deverin, but after a couple of weeks he was just drinking to forget everything as none was trusting him.
I think we had cordial relationships with both the Sheriff and the Major. Also talked with someone in the church. But I don't remember any oddities or remarkable something.
EDIT: I just remember we went to the theater and someone, was Killey or Tal, almost killed some children who where portraying in the works as goblins. Likely some of the children were scared of us, maybe the boss of the theater does not like us.
EDIT 2: I don't remember either what happened in the end with Nualia and her minions. I want to remember there were strong problems with part of the party wanting to free some of them, and perhaps there was some of them who ended in the prison? I think it was with Vancaskerkin, Tal enchanted Daud or Kiley, and they did not take it good at all. Not sure, I would have to check back at the post history.

Sorry about the delay, work threw me a major curve ball so I have been scrambling.
Vivi was warm to Ameko prior to my leaving, and apparently he was left as being her beau when I left previously.
Other than that, he was the one that Shaylis attempted to latch onto... he thwarted that by misinterpreting her request about rats to be literal. Link to start.
Off the scenes, I am saying that he left Sandpoint suddenly. As in, not even really leaving Ameko an explanation beyond a small two sentence note saying, "They found me. I must go to protect you." So I imagine that she is upset with him right now. Every time he went through town he was wearing his hat and adopting a disguise, so no one knew it was him. That said, I would say that prior to his capture he would have checked on Ameko at least twice to make sure that she was fine.

Love the way that played out. One last thing I forgot to mention: Vivi is vegetarian (though he would eat fish) and Ameiko knows this from his previous time there.

In order to move things out (why is decision making so tough in PbP? :D ), perhaps it will be easier to discuss here what are we doing about the defense before translating it into in-character?
From what I got:
- Healing: Jessica offers to inscribe some runes of healing. Perhaps we can also ask the city clerics to prepare a healing camp in the church?
- Traps: Delendir is offering to set a sleet trap on each of the bridges and into the walled entrance.
- Evacuation: Daud proposes to help move people to the goblins lair, and Krysta is going to chech there first.
- Scouting: Both Krysta and Delendir are going to scout in search for the giant's camp:
- Resting: We need to rest for Vivi to recover from his run.
Am I missing something? What else can we do to raise up the defenses or confuse our enemies? What are Belor's plans for his guards?

Hey people! I am not promoting village slaughtering and I am personally against war or violence to solve any kind of conflict.
Whereas I understand in real life we shall struggle to protect the innocent, what I am trying to build up here with Delendir, in addition to portray his straightforward-reckless mindset, is to look after the epic that seems to call up the scene (defending an ill prepared location against a much stronger enemy). Just as we often see in many epic movies.
