Polka dotting!
Stat line will be updated as soon as I get a chance. Turns out my phone isn't very good at updating my profile(s).

This game has two players from another game that I was running and we are just about done. I'm expecting to complete that game anytime in the next two to five days depending on how fast post. While we let Bob, AbrasiveD and Meensy finish up their characters why don't we get a little pre-game roleplay going to start the introductions? Use this time to describe your appearance and entrance into the game. I'll follows this up with a gameplay post to set the scene for everyone.

Ok ... so I have a PFS rules question before we get started. Normally Hero Lab is reasonably good at preventing you from making a non-PFS character when you tell it to use the PFS rules; however, it has been known to make mistakes. I got a brief email that makes me unsure if Changeling is a legal option. Is it?

Prior to our departure (or on Grym's journey between missions), I'd like to purchase a mithral shirt, 20 cold iron arrows, 20 blunt arrows, an antitoxin, an antiplague, and a potion of cure light wounds (1254 gp if I've done my arithmetic right). Grym will also sell his leather armor for 5 gp.

Sorry friends, I'm afraid I'm going to have to bow out.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, the computers I have access to won't allow me to log on to my account, and the one small area of cellphone service I have which would allow me to use the Wayfinder App has disappeared.
Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to keep up with one post a day, and to keep it fair, I feel it would be better for me to leave the table and give my seat to the next, if there is one.
I was looking forward to playing, but it looks like I'm not. Good luck all!

For those that haven't done so already, could I please get a brief background and description for your character? A few sentenance will suffice, just something to allow me the ability to add a little personal touch to something. As I'm going over the travel on the ship I realize I don't have much for half the party. Thanks!

Melisandre grew up in Sothis, where her father was stationed as a foreign diplomat. Not content with the luxury of court, she would frequently sneak away to roam the Sahure Wastes in search of adventure. On one such venture, she discovered a cache of papyri that explained the mysteries of the eidolon. Much intrigued, she eventually deciphered enough to summon her own eidolon, who quite naturally took the form of the desert asp. Her father, an arcane scion himself, then introduced her to the pathfinder society in hopes that they would train her and perhaps temper her willfulness. This is to be her very first assignment as a pathfinder ...
Saphera Moonglade

It was a normal dry day in the small town of Gundrun. The sound of children running through the merchant streets of the small town brought smiles to many of the local shop keepers. In most settlements, the unruly antics would be frowned upon. In Gundrun it was a beautiful reminder of the way things were before the world wound. The sound of the child's laughter brought customers from all over the small town. Almost every kid in the area had joined in a game of hid and go seek. All but one child had picked out a secluded hiding spot and waited to see if they had been successful in their choice.
One of the local meet merchants watched, as the children took turns approaching the young girl who sat quietly, observing the game from a distance. Each time one of the children would approach, the merchant could see the young girl shake her head no. Eventually the merchant asked one of his clients what the story was with the girl. The woman replied. “She is one of the many world wound orphans that lives in the town’s church. She was orphaned about four weeks ago when her parents vanished while escorting a supply caravan to the front line. Rumor has it, that the girl has celestial blood running through her veins, but I don’t see any sign of it. She seems distant and unwilling to adjust to her new home. Hopefully after the society relocates all these children, they will have a better chance to adapt to their new lives, away from this horrible place.” The merchant nodded as the woman walk away.
After watching the girl for a while the merchant eventual approached the young girl and asked why she wouldn't play with the other children. There was something different about the girl, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. The young girl looked up at the merchant as a tear rolled down her face. “There is no time for fun anymore. Soon the world will come to an end, and all this will be forgotten.” The merchant asked the girl why she felt the world was coming to an end. The girl sat quiet, staring at the merchant, with a look of complete resolution. After a long moment of uncomfortable silence, the girl stated. “My name is Saphera Moonglade. Remember my name, I will be back to destroy every last demon.”
Eventually a caravan, sponsored by the pathfinder society, collected up all of the orphaned children of the world wound. Then escorted them to the southern city of Absalom. Once the children arrived in the free city, they were turned over to a couple of recognized orphanages that would raise and educate them in the ways of the world.
Saphera spent the second half of her life learning about the society and their role in the war with the world wound. After coming of age, she ran into a select group of devoted followers of the Imperial god Ragathiel. After embracing the teachings of Ragathiel, Saphera found herself beholding to a lifetime of commitment. A commitment to rid the world of demons and their spawn.
With a new found ally, Saphera approached the pathfinder society and joined the silver crusade. With a common interest she embraced the opportunity to strengthen her skills and eventually head back to the world wound.
Troyst
|
Troyst was an ugly baby. His parents resented him for how much food he ate but were thankful he never cried. In fact, he rarely spoke as a boy, preferring to use his fists if the need arose ... or even when it didn't.
He grew (and grew) in to a man remarkable only for intimidating gaze and willingness to fight. Finding work was never difficult, but Troyst had a deep ingrained wanderlust that resulted in him moving on frequently.
One such job found him working for a Silver Crusader, a Cayden Cailean priest helping troubled boys. Troyst decided to see if he could do something useful with his life and followed his priest to the welcoming arms of the Society.

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas!
On a game-related note, rabies is apparently way less scary in Golarion than it is here -- people train rabid dogs for guard duty?
| GM ShadowLord |
We'll be wrapping this up in the next few days. I believe if we keep at the same pace we should be able to squeeze in another adventure for PbP Gameday 3 before the end (Feb 1st).
Is anyone here interested in continuing on to another adventure? If so, does anyone have one in mind they want to do?

Alright, it appears Grym has played nearly every scenario under the sun. How about .... Pathfinder Society Scenario #23: Tide of Morning?

Tide of Morning sounds good to me. As for my list of played scenarios -- the scary part is that I didn't start PFS until this year! I'm going to have to make the jump to the GM chair by this time next year.

GM chair isn't so bad. It's pretty much play as written with little room for modification. Main thing is to know what is legal and what is not, know how to report the completion, and know how to fill out a chronicle.
| GM ShadowLord |
GMing can be fun. The PFS GMing is actually quite easy as Saphera mentions, though at times it feels like handicuffs. In PFS you have strict rules you must follow and the flexibility you're allowed is really minimized as to keep the scenarios the same level of difficulty for all that play it. That being said, I try to be creative without breaking the rules to make the games engaging for my players.
Ok so the PbP Gameday VC has not responded to my two requests for clarifications on boon assignment yet. I don't want to keep waiting so we are going to proceed with how I'm interpreting them. If he clarifies that I'm doing it wrong I'll adjust the sheets afterwards.
I've been asked to roll for boons for all players and the GM at one time. If your roll comes up 1 or 20 you get your selection between one of three boons. I will roll the players first alphabetically and the GM last. I'll do the rolling in the gameplay thread after this post. Good luck all!
Note: I forgot I have a 2pm meeting, I'll get to it later. Suspense!

That's it folks! Thank you playing in Cyphermage Dilemma, I hope you enjoyed it. I rather liked this mission, it was quite fun.
I've setup the link to the new mission here: PbP GameDay 3: PFS #23: Tide of Morning
I'm going to work on the Chronicles now, I'll email them out to you tonight.
See ya in #23!
