I have heard honor a few times in years since, as agents are lost in the field. The most recent was some dwarf, although I did not know him personally, giving his life to save others on a nearly failed mission. His team raised a toast to Brother Grimdock as he was beyond recovery but not beyond our memory.”[/b]
Funny you should mention Brother Grimdoc, Says a small, strange, kindly voice in the assembled company's heads as Vladek takes the banister - it's the dragon on his shoulder.
We were there when Doom Came To Dustpawn...
With the aid of his own powers of illusion, Vladek piping some strange and terrible mood music (which I think would sound something like this), and followed by his recreating in miniature of the ancient orrery that all the fuss was over, Qadathra recounts the strange and terrible tale of mutations, madness, horrors from beyond the stars and their willing agents on Golarion, Vladek's own terrifying encounter with death, as well as that of another...but only Brother Grimdoc couldn't make it back.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

"Mind you, what still kills me - metaphorically speaking," Vladek adds on his own at the end. "Is that I could have prevented it. I could have turned that pompous cultist into the insect she truly was before she took that orrery and called that terror! But noooo, Brother Grimdoc made her an oath. How suitably odd that you should invoke Brother Grimdoc when you speak of 'honor'; he was one of the most honorable individuals I ever knew...and in the end, it betrayed and destroyed him."

![]() |

“I didn’t know him, Vladek. But an old roomie of mine was very upset about his death.”
“I could have prevented it ...”
“Sounds like your friend was dedicated to a concept he believed was bigger than himself.”
“I find it hard to believe such an individual was expecting his own death to be the result of (what was from his perspective) a natural decision.”
“While it reflects favorably on your own character that you feel the way you do. I’m not sure anyone is responsible for the outcome other than the murderess.”

GM Rinaldo |

Vladek, unfortunately Major Creation takes 10 minutes to cast, so isn't really doable here. In addition, you don't actually have either of those spells prepared according to your character sheet. Lastly, having your familiar make the check isn't really in the spirit of the thing -- they want to hear from the actual Pathfinder. I'm applying that 19 you rolled to Vladek's untrained Diplomacy check, and applying a bonus for Qadathra assisting.
When Vladek has finished recounting his tale, Osprey arises from his comfortable chair in the back corner of the room and clears his throat. “Assembled fellow Pathfinders,” he says. “You have represented yourselves well, and your victories reflect upon the leadership of your venture-captain leaders. Which brings us to the man of honor, Adril Hestram. Adril, will you please take your place on the balcony? I wonder, after hearing all of this, what you consider your greatest accomplishment,” Osprey flashes a quick glance at Eliza, who furrows her brow and looks to the floor. “And how that victory serves the greater good of the Pathfinder Society.”
Adril Hestram, beaming with pride, smiles a wide grin beneath his bushy beard as he bounds up the central stair to the balcony. As he looks at each of you in turn for a moment, the hulking warrior of a man releases a mirthful chuckle, as if considering a private joke. His bear-claw hands grasp the balcony’s railing as he addresses the group.
“I have never stopped adventuring. From my year lost in the Mwangi Expanse a decade ago to my tenure as a venture-captain in Absalom all the way through to today, I’ve kept looking for new challenges and opportunities in the face of danger that would melt the hearts of ordinary men. And in all that time, I’ve learned a simple lesson that I’d like to share with you today—”
Adril’s speech is cut off by what at first seems like a tiny tremor, but which soon erupts into a jerking and heaving cataclysm that shakes the entire room. Adril falls silent, a look of dumb surprise erasing the arrogance and confidence in his weathered face. For a single moment he looks utterly lost. Then, two enormous shapes—writhing, living leviathans of bright red chitinous plates—burst through the floor in different corners of the room. Eliza screams, and the chamber erupts into chaos.

Round #1: AC 24
“You know the problem with being so big in a tiny room? No room to maneuver.”
Luisila moves 10' to the north and ✨casts blade barrier, manifesting a curtain-ring of spinning force blades through both critters.
force damage: 12d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 6, 5, 2, 2, 2, 1, 2, 1, 4) = 36 Reflex DC 21 for half
“And you know what else?”
“You being so big means it’s awful easy for us little ‘uns to hem you in, so you keep gittin’ cut up by those nasty blades.”
She shakes her head. "Just like an owlbear who's caught his claw in a beehive nestled inside a tree hollow."

![]() |

Marta winces as the blades start chewing up the worms.
"Nice tactic, Lucila, though they can burrow away if they so choose. Not that we'd mind if they left. I've never see a red worm like that. Anyone know anything about it?"

![]() |

GM, on the map, Aegis II is already inside?
The usually flippant Myrdon suddenly turns all serious, almost like he is a different person. "Aegis, tear them to pieces!"
He is tempted to start calling forth a monster to aid in the attack, but studying the battlefield, he sees how cramped the space is, made even more so by the blade barrier. Instead, he waves his hands across the air and calls out a powerful mystical phrase, "ඉක්මන් කරන්න!" Energy infuses everyone present, save for Vladek, speeding up their reactions and movements.
Cast haste. Sorry Vladek, I can't get you if I also want to include Kirrah, and I think she would benefit from it more.
Then, before the monsters have a chance to react, Myrdon flies up out of the reach of the monsters over the wall, using it as protection soon the worms choose to come after him. (Not sure how high the ceiling is but he is hovering there.)

GM Rinaldo |

Kirrah had to move out of the room this turn, so she gets a single attack. Also, I like the faded token for Kirrah visible on the ground floor. I'll steal that!
Aegis is outside and the doors are closed. That was my mistake when I was placing the tokens. Sorry about that!
At 25' up, Myrdon is basically at the ceiling.
--------
Kirrah snarls as she comes out of the room and sees the monsters; taking a swipe through the openings in the railing she can't quite get enough power to scratch the creature's tough hide.
Marta prepares mentally for combat and activates a defensive spell, while Luisila summons a barrier of blades into the room. The blades make short work of the furniture that hadn't already been destroyed by the arrival of the worms.

Myrdon calls out for Aegis (who will respond on her initiative, but will need the door opened to get in) while flying up and casting a spell to speed up his allies.
The worm next to Eliza makes a horrific belching sound, and from its huge maw emerges a giant stone golem. As the worm stretches to its full height, it smashes into the balcony above. The destroyed masonry drops down, burying Eliza beneath it!
Kirrah can make a DC 15 reflex save to jump out of the way; on success she can move into clear squares to the right; on fail she takes 1d6 ⇒ 2 falling damage and is prone on the rubble.

"Adril, look out! There's something behind you! That red smoke!" (Anyway for Myrdon to identify what the effect is?
Then he notices something else from the corner of his eye. He gestures to the central door to the south on the 2nd floor. "I just saw a door there opened. There might be some invisible creature around!"
With the battle going fast and furious, Myrdon continues to fly above head, assessing what his next move. He hears Aegis screaming to get in from outside, and makes his decision. She shifts her gaze from Marta to Fendahl before settling on Vladek.
She nods once making up her mind. “I’m going to try to help, Vladek first. I have some anti-worming spells prepared, but they won’t help with the golems.”
The priestess copycats creating a duplicate of herself, before ✨casting wall of stone, settling a 10’ high, 30’ long wall of pink stone on the stone floor of the Woodsedge Lodge.

Phew! Aegis, Fendahl, and Vladek are up! Everyone please let met know the result of the attacks on you.

![]() |

Kirrah almost manages to remain unscathed by the arrows bouncing off her tough hide.
(FF AC26, one hit - did not confirm, 11 damage. HP 84/95)
Fendahl does not fare nearly as well, being much less well armored than normal.
(FFAC 17, two hits, 33dmg, 60/112hp)
As the blade barrier likely provides +4 AC vs archers (unless they are like 40' up), the first shot may have missed, giving him 19hp back. If you already counted into their attacks, disregard.
As a free action, he points to Kirrah and then to the red plumed assassin guy.
Hrrmm. Kirrah, kill him!
Fendahl, delays his action to see what Aegis and Vladek do before determining his next step.

“Sound off! For triage purposes – who wants healing?”
Based on my understanding of Manyshot, both arrows are fired at the SAME TARGET.
As a GM, I resolve mirror images as a single d’n’ dice roll, with a ‘1’ being the real caster. I shall do the same here.
Manyshot on Luisila + copycat, 1 = Luisila: 1d2 ⇒ 1
23 damage, copycat survives
Rapid Shot on Luisila + copycat, 1 = Luisila: 1d2 ⇒ 1
14 damage, copycat survives
EDIT: Iterative misses by <5, so the copycat is also *popped*
Luisila takes 37 damage: 86/123 hp
“I have a spell that can turn us all invisible, to hopefully give us a break from being attacked if multi-turn healings are required. Let me know your thoughts.”

GM Rinaldo |

I did not account for the blade barrier ... everyone who is behind it relative to their archer gets +4 AC.
Luisila, that is how I handle mirror images as well. Carry on!

Oh... Myrdon is dead. Took 119 damage, bringing him down to -42. Even with Lusilia's breath of life, it might not be enough so I think not worth the risk to waste one round. Sigh, without the chance to buff, his FF AC is only 13, and besides, he is usually far in the back behind his roc. Got enough pp to bring him back, but sorry, he's out of the combat. Oh well, at least there's still Aegis II.
Eight flaming arrows plunge into Myrdon, a few striking vulnerable spots in his body. Blood gurgles out involuntarily from his mouth before he even has the chance to scream in pain. He blacks out and plummets to the ground.
Oh, and another 2d6 falling damage...
To confirm that blue worm is dazed for 3 rounds?

![]() |

Marta goes untouched by the arrows. She is never flat-footed due to surprise because of her monk training.

![]() |

Aegis has been getting very anxious after hearing its master's call, hopping back and forth. Finally, the door is blown open only for it to see its master fall to the ground. And this stony looking creature is standing in its way.
Aegis hops forward and tears into this obstacle in its way.

Any bonuses I miss? Aegis didn't get hasted because it was outside when Myrdon cast the spell. Aegis should have gotten the judgement light, and hence adamantine to bypass the golem's DR.

![]() |

Vladek is perforated like the world's most inconveniently-shaped pincushion, seemingly caught hopelessly unaware. As he falls to the ground, coating the floor in burgundy ichor like a bowl of borscht flipped upside-down...
...his limp hand drops the one arrow that would have impaled his heart.
I am at -6 - down, bleeding badly, but STILL NOT DEAD!
Luisila, I think I've got your triage priority right here!

![]() |

Qadathra disappears as he plummets with his fallen perch! Now seems like a great time for faerie dragon greater invisibility!
Nonetheless, Luisila can still hear the strange, kindly voice in her head: There's still TIME....
Qadathra will spend his move action getting at Vladek's cure moderate wounds wand.

![]() |

Ouch, two men down with the arrows. The adamantine is not yet available, correct?
Fendahl would burn a divine interference (reroll 1 attack) on one of the arrows hitting Vladek or Myrdon, if he is within 30' of the archer. Unlikely to help, but maybe a 5% miss chance.
Could be too far away though.
Fendahl sighs as he sees two of his comrades drop with the archers arrows.
Marta, we will not survive another volley like that.
My blade cannot hurt the golem much. I have to do something about those archers.
He steps back 5' and calls forth divine flames on the upper southern balcony to envelop the archers in flame column (and golem, for effect).
Flamestrike fire+divine: 11d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 1, 6, 4, 5, 5, 6, 2, 2) = 39 DC19 reflex

No judgment light yet. I jumped the gun and it was not my init yet.

GM Rinaldo |

To confirm that blue worm is dazed for 3 rounds?
Oh, I had missed the Dazing on the Fireball. Thanks for reminding me, that has been noted.
Fendahl would burn a divine interference (reroll 1 attack) on one of the arrows hitting Vladek or Myrdon, if he is within 30' of the archer. Unlikely to help, but maybe a 5% miss chance. Could be too far away though.
Unfortunately, yes. With the vertical distance, he's not quite in reach of any of the archers.
Aegis starts clawing and biting at the golem, barely scratching its stone exterior.
Only the bite hit, but it did get a little damage past DR.
Archer Blue Plus: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Archer Blue Dash: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Archer Blue X: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Archer Blue Dot: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Fendahl calls down holy flame onto the archers to the south, eliciting a chorus of pained cries.
The golem inside the room looks around, and sees Luisila. However, between the stairs and the whirling blades, the only way to reach her is through the sofa. It moves up, throwing the furniture aside where it cracks into pieces.
Standard action to bull rush the sofa, tossing it aside.

Qadathra blinks out of view as he grabs a wand to help with healing.
Qadathra's action was pre-posted, so takes effect now. Marta, Kirrah, and Luisila are up! I've left Myrdon's name on the tracker just in case someone can get him up. He's at -42 according to his post; with a 14 CON, it would take a BoL for at least 29 points to get him back up to merely "dying", at which point regular healing would work. Vladek is only at -6 so could be woken up fairly easily, but he has a few rounds before being in actual danger of dying. Triage as you see fit!

Move action to get up to balcony (Drawing an AoO for her troubles)
acrobatics: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (8) + 19 = 27
climb: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Swift action to exchange purity for smiting
Standard action to cast Judgment Light spell
Protection: Amber light erupts from the caster, granting allies in the burst a +2 sacred bonus to AC and CMD, and a +4 bonus to AC against critical confirmation attack rolls for 11 rounds.
Smiting: Silver light erupts from the caster, making allies' weapons within the burst count as magic, the alignment her weapon is, and adamantine for purposes of overcoming damage reduction for 11 rounds.
Seeing the trouble they are in, Marta puts some space between her and the golem and calls on Ragathiel to share her judgment with the others.
"Flames of the righteous judge, anoint my allies with puissance and protection!"
Is Kirrah able to take advantage of the spell or would I have to move Marta differently? Is Kirrah even able to join the combat yet? Also, where is Marta's spear in the room. We had said we put it in the rack, but where is the rack? Just north of Luisila?

![]() |

Would the Judgement light have reached Qadathra and I from wherever you were when you cast it?
Vladek is only at -6 so could be woken up fairly easily, but he has a few rounds before being in actual danger of dying.
No, literally 'a couple.' Två. ਦੋ. Dos. Duo. ב. Ob. Dhà. दो. Ezimbili. два. 二. ʻElua. दुई. Zwei....

Would the Judgement light have reached Qadathra and I from wherever you were when you cast it?
It's a 30' burst so I'm afraid not.

Kirrah the Lion |

The last command Fendahl gave Kirrah was to kill the red dude. So unless the GM would allow a free action to change...and even then, I don't like Lusilla being the only target outside the ring of blades for all those archers. Attacking red may still be the best move rather than pouncing down on the golem inside the ring. Hopefully Aegis and Fendahl can handle stoney for awhile, with the judgement in place.
Kirrah follows Fendahl's command and in a streak of tan fur closes in on the Red man who just apparently killed Hestram.
(70' single move - unfortunately no pounce lane)
+1 Bite, haste: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 15 + 1 = 35 damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
(counts as adamantium, aligned and magic if that matters vs Red)
Grab, haste: 1d20 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 21 + 1 = 28 vs Red CMD
(AC32 (hasted and judgement) HP 84/95) - possibly grappling or at least with cover from some archers

GM Rinaldo |

Red Golem AoO vs Marta: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25
As Marta scrambles up the rubble, jumps to the balcony, and pulls herself over the rail, the golem swings at her, just missing. She calls on Ragathiel's judgment to aid her party, and light floods the room. Kirrah, Luisilia, and Fendahl glow slightly in its glory.
Kirrah roars as she comes around the corner on the balcony. Her giant maw latches onto the Red Raven!
Bite and grab successful! Bad news for the Red Raven!
Waiting for Luisila to decide what to do. All eight archers are up and about to act after that.

![]() |

bummer If the judgement did not reach Aegis? I was hoping it did.
The poor eagle not going to do as much against golem without it .
"Luisila, beware the arrows ." Fendahl calls through the spinning blades

![]() |

It should have reached Aegis if she? was airborn, but not if she was grounded.

![]() |

“If you need healing, tell me where you are using directions based on the way the Statue of Durvin Gest faces on the grounds of the Grand Lodge. For example, ‘Luisila, meet me by the leather couch. I’ll be standing at a space directly opposite the direction Durvin Gest faces.’”
Luisila takes careful note of where Vladek and Myrdon lie and casts✨ Mistress’ Illusion, veiling all of her allies (including Kirrah, but not Aegis not in range :( as ants.
“We’ve got 72 seconds of greater invisibility as long as you don’t melee with anyone. Don’t be afraid to retreat and heal up before getting back into the fray.”
“Fendahl, can you get Aegis to retreat temporarily and then come back later?”
Luisila then takes Fendahl’s advice, moving into a random position under a balcony.

So attack spells are fine?
