Not sure Kirrah, with the Red plumed guy tightly gripped in her jaws, is going to be able to play along with the no-melee plan, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
Fendahl is not sure if he can see his other allies or if speaking will give away anything important, so he refrains from replying to Luisila for the moment to see what the archers do.

![]() |

It should have reached Aegis if she? was airborn, but not if she was grounded.
Aegis was on the ground (hovering isn't really its thing). But counting squares, I think it should reach? Even though it is a burst and not spread, Aegis' bottom right square should be within 30ft? Moreover, it is large, i.e. 10ft tall.

![]() |

I count 25' from Marta to Aegis upper right corner. Where she is at now is where she cast from. With another 10' from Marta's current height down to Aegis that puts the Roc out of range since it is grounded. She could not cast from her original location without drawing an AoO and she was not going to chance that. I would have Aegis take out the second red worm before it becomes undazed if the GM rules that Aegis is out of range. Does she REALLY have an AC of 38!!! DANG. Marta can get up there with help and a lot of spells, but not easily.

![]() |

Well, Aegis is 10ft tall, which is the same height as balcony. So counting distance from Marta's feet to Aegis' head would still be 25'. :) (Lol, I hate 3D combat.) Incidentally, even if counting from ground, using pythagoras theorem, 25' ground distance by 10' height would come up to 27' actual distance, still within range. (Joys of being a math teacher.) And yeah, 38AC. Rocs rock armor!
On a separate note, Aegis is not intelligent so would just keep going after the nearest target, i.e. now is the red golem. Should that go down, it would likely go after the blue worm, but likely the daze would have worn off by then.

![]() |

Well, Aegis is 10ft tall, which is the same height as balcony. So counting distance from Marta's feet to Aegis' head would still be 25'. :)
I believe the balcony is 20' high. Marta only had to climb 10' because of the rubble and worm corpse.

![]() |

With all the 3D combat, I was getting confused on the heights too. I added a text box on the map if that helps. (Remove it if it causes problems)
GM, kindly correct the dimensions listed, since I could not find some of them explicitly.

GM Rinaldo |

I'm going to rule that Aegis was sufficiently airborne that she was in range for the Judgment Light. Her Fly skill is +13 and Hover is DC 15, so her usual Claw/Claw/Bite attack sequence would be done while hovering.
You had the heights correct except that the ceiling is only 25', not 30'.
Luisila casts a spell, and suddenly most of the pathfinders disappear. The archers look around, suddenly having no targets.

![]() |

Fendahl watches to see the Red plumed guy call out and disappear.
That is most unfortunate.
So casting will not break this 'invisibility' since it is an illusion? Assuming not...he will cast a spell and move.
Also assuming, per Luisila, we cannot see each other.
Fendahl sees poor Aegis all alone against the golem. He will risk a spell before moving to his new location (under Kirrah 55' move with haste).
Planning on casting Atavism on Aegis. Would I suspect the eagle to get a save, or is it still considered an ally? If not an ally, then may try something else.

Fendahl: Since the spell has Verbal components you have to be talking anyway, so I think Aegis will recognize that the spell is coming from you even though he can't see you.

An ant scurries across the floor at unbelievable speed and leaps onto the nearest archer. The archer screams as he is torn apart.
Unconscious but not quite dead ... very, very messy, though.
The remaining archers start fumbling about, trying to find the invisible monster that ate their companion.

![]() |

I'm going to assume the burst of speed works with haste but that Marta may not attack the worm from the balcony. If either is not true then I may need to change my orders.
Marta casts a Shield of Faith and then calls upon Ragathiel for a burst of speed and dashes over to the opposite corner of the room.
If any of the archers she is next to shoots at anyone, here are Marta's AoO (she has combat reflexes for up to 3 AoO).
If a hit connects and Marta makes her intimidate check it will cause the opponent to be shaken for as many rounds as non-lethal damage, provided non-lethal damage works on it because of the Enforcer feat. Aunt Luisila ✨casts heal and draws a potion of fly as she moves to touch Vladek.
That should put Vladek back at full hp.

GM Rinaldo |

Luisila moves over and touches Vladek; as the healing power washes through him he feels invigorated!
Luisila: Potions are not "weapon-like", so unless you had it in a spring-loaded wrist sheath, you can't draw a potion while moving.
Vladek is conscious and healed, but prone and unarmed. Any items in hand when you went down are in your square.
Marta: Redo your turn. Red worm is unconscious. :-)
Marta gets a redo on her action, and Qadathra is still up!

![]() |

Luisila moves over and touches Vladek; as the healing power washes through him he feels invigorated!
Hate "liquid/washy/juice/flow" metaphors, but okay.
Instantly cognizant of the power of Luisila's miracle, Qadathra gratefully turns his concern to other matters...like the giant golem bearing down on the lot of them.
He flutters over to the mantle, and conjures a shifting carpet of iridescent soapy bubbles (DC 14) right under the golem's feet!

![]() |

Marta: Redo your turn. Red worm is unconscious. :-)
Blue worm was Marta's target. The plan was to move next to it using haste, burst of speed, and a double move, setting up for a full attack on it next round. But I'm good with the current move setting up the (miserably failed) AoOs and a blistering invective for next turn. Someone else can take out the worm :)

![]() |

I thought Marta was upstairs with the archers and Kirrah. Per the map figures she is under the archers and the balcony. Is that right?
Edit: Ok, you had your ghosted image upstairs and your solid image downstairs...that is why I was confused. Frying archers is goodness.

![]() |

Marta is upstairs which is why I asked if she could reach the worm from the balcony. The worm is huge and could very well stretch 15' up if it is squeezing itself up against the wall in order to avoid the wall of blades. But that opportunity has passed. I do not want to delay things so I've settled with the equally good idea of frying the archers next turn, if they stick around of course.

GM Rinaldo |

Marta, if you are upstairs, you are running through Kirrah's square and right past the archers. You are adjacent to three of them now. They are currently armed with bows, but they could draw swords and all attack you next round. Is that what you intended?
Blue Golem Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Qadathra conjures a film of slippery liquid underneath the golem. The creature looks extremely confused as its feet slide out from under it!
One prone golem. Good work, little dragon!
I'm going to let Marta clarify, because the archers are up next.

Yes. She should still be invisible since all she did is run and cast Shield of Faith. Also, burst of speed allows you to run through larger creatures and draw no AoOs.

No? I thought the issue was that a worm is not a bug and thus does not work in the pun. What did you mean then?

I think he's referring to that boneshatter only works on creatures with skeletons or carapace. I know little about what kind of worm this is though. It definitely doesn't have a skeleton, but might have a carapace.

Despite the name "worm", the description clearly states they are covered in "chitinous armor" (as Luisila quoted from my own post). I think that counts as a carapace for purposes of this spell.

Will save vs illusion on Fendahl: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Will save vs illusion on Kirrah: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Ref save vs Blade Barrier: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Blade barrier damage: 12d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 1, 1, 5, 5, 1, 6, 2, 5, 5) = 44
As the golem stands, both Fendahl and Kirrah land solid blows. Bewildered, the creature can't determine what is attacking it, so it decides to move away toward a visible target. It pushes its way through the wall of blades, getting badly damaged in the process.
Red slam vs Aegis: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (16) + 22 = 38 damage: 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (2, 8) + 9 = 19
Red slam vs Aegis: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (2) + 22 = 24 damage: 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 = 14
Its counterpart keeps up the assault on Aegis; however, the enhanced bird once again avoids the blows.
The archers continue their retreat out the bedroom windows; two of them take hits from Marta, but continue their escape nonetheless.
Neither took enough damage to stop them, and chose to continue their move actions. The one already out the window had cover, so did not provoke.

Sensing that the worm in the corner is about to overcome its torpor, Vladek tries to ravel its immediate future.
Misfortune, DC 24, on blue worm.
He has something quite nasty in mind for it next....

Fendahl hears some sort of command from the nearby ant posing as Vlad. So he smiles knowing Luisila was successful in some fashion.
With the departure of the golem he was hoping to eliminate with Kirrah's help, he cannot easily pursue.
Lady Luisila, what of our other two hosts? Do you know if they are still alive?
With the archers departing, he chooses to cast airwalk (std) upon himself. He will then begin transformation into a semi-lion creature (move), as his legs lengthen and hair grows into a partial mane.
He will 5' airstep up towards the north balcony.
His speed increases by 20' and he can speak directly with felines
Kirrah still only has a 2 INT, so not sure if any of this plus his free handle animal is enough to get her to do anything
Kirrah, Return to balcony. Jump down on stone man! Help Aegis bird!

“Níl, níl a fhios agam conas a bhíonn an iolair mara agus VC Eliza, Cara Leon.”
“No, I don’t know how Osprey and VC Eliza fare, Lion Friend.”
From the balcony, Luisila has a good view of the Blue Golem’s retreat through the blade barrier. “Leis an worm gorm ag teacht ar an taobh seo den bhacainn ar an lann, ba mhaith liom go mbeadh sé mar thosaíocht againn.”
“With the Blue Worm coming online this side of the blade barrier, I think it should be our priority.”
“Tá roinnt saighead crua miotail agam chun cabhrú leis na fir cloiche a laghdú. An bhfaca tú Marta le déanaí?”
“I have some adamantine arrows to help bring down the stone men. Have you seen Marta recently?”
The ant twins roar! मार्टा, क्या तुम ठीक हो? हमें कीड़े और पत्थर के पुरुषों के खिलाफ आपको चाहिए!
“Marta, are you well? We need you against the worm and stone men!”

Fendahl responds in elven
"Hrmm Agreed. Although I was not seeing an easy way for Kirrah to the worm.
Marta's helpful blessing against golems will end too quickly ."
Had thought about opening the southern double doors to make her space, but still would be squeezing or cover vs the worm . Unfortunately neither Fendahl nor Kirrah know what is happening with the archers.

Ignorant of all the tactical repositioning of his (ex-?)master's allies, Aegis continues ripping into the stony man in front of it.

Kirrah still only has a 2 INT, so not sure if any of this plus his free handle animal is enough to get her to do anything
Adding the ability to speak with animals to your normal handle animal bonuses, I'm generally pretty easygoing on complex commands. That set is fine. If I see one that I think is over the line, I'll let you know and give you a chance to redo.
Worm will save vs misfortune: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Vladek blurs the bounds of reality around the remaining worm.
Fendahl's form shifts as he calls out to Kirrah in a series of growls, then carries on a conversation with Luisila in the fair speech of elves.
Oblivious to all of this, Aegis continues scratching and pecking at the golem in the doorway.
One claw and one bite hit, doing full damage, but grab is still not successful.
The second worm, finally able to act, burrows down into the ground, then emerges outside the building, next to Aegis.
Double move, ending partially exposed. It stops its move with 5' of its body extended, so no AoO, but it and Aegis have cover relative to each other due to the tunneling.
