It’s working!
Really hoping this Grapple works and a CMD of 21 is up to the task. If we can pin and then tie up Nox...
...and I’m officially getting ahead of myself.
GM RePete |
I am amused that this is working currently...
Philacris, keep in mind that's a weapon with 10 foot reach. ;-)
Sendi |
And a 22 to pin! With Nox getting -2 CMD because she is currently grappled. If the pinning works, we can tie her up and gag her without any rolls.
I’m very pleasantly surprised that this (seems to) be working out.
GM RePete |
Nox wouldn't have as big a penalty as stated for the move from grapple to pin, but regardless you did make it. She is pinned.
She still has a chance though...even if it's slim...to escape.
Philacris Silk |
Philacris, keep in mind that's a weapon with 10 foot reach. ;-)
Yeah, I was worried that she'd break grapple and try to retreat past Phila (in which case an AoO may be necessary). Of course, with some nice luck on our side, there was no need!
Metronicus Crady, the Bum Sage |
The more I play Sendi the more I realize that she shouldn’t take Paladin levels. :p
Hey! 'Lawful Good' doesn't mean 'Lawful Nice'.
GM RePete |

Lvl 4! Let the multiclassing continue! Decided against Shifter. It’s powerful but not fluffy. Going to take Irorian Paladin (1) instead. Keep collecting all of the Irori options.

So...since I'm way behind, it'll be levels 3 and 4 for Titus...sorry guys I haven't been keeping up.
Also, I goofed up the channels last battle, as I'd forgotten that (as far as I know) the warpriest and crusader levels don't stack in regards to channeling. I'll be taking 2 levels in crusader to legitimize that and to get the 2d6 channel.
Philacris Silk |
As a heads up for everyone: I'll be out on vacation from 12/16 through 1/6. Normally I'd try to keep up with games during this time, but this time round I'll be travelling to places with some pretty dodgy internet and don't think staying up-to-date will be easy.
Unfortunately, this means Philacris will miss the immediate backlash of finishing Nox off. :< Feel free to bot me, or have Phila fade into the background for the next few scenes while I'm away.
If I don't get a chance to post, have a great Christmas and New Years all!
GM RePete |
The start of the next book begins with a new proclamation being submitted and a clandestine meeting that sets you on new sub-missions to further increase your power/subvert the power of Thrune.
I know Philacris is out until the 6th (thanks for heads up) and my life is a tad more hectic than normal due to the holiday season.
Do we wish to hold off a few days? AkA do you wish to take a 2 week break her and start back up at the beginning of January?
Metronicus Crady, the Bum Sage |
Sounds fair. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everybody!
Sendi |
Sounds fair to me! Happy holidays everyone!
Also if there is to be a new proclamation I vote that it is because we left Nox’s body hanging from a window. ;)
Pakuzzo |
Yeah, I'm in favor of that. Enjoy the holidays, everyone!
GM RePete |
Excellent! Been a long few days for me.
I shall get us going either tonight or tomorrow.
GM RePete |
Ayo, we live? Alright!
Yes. Made first post in gameplay for Book 2 a little while ago.
GM RePete |
Sorry bout being MIA this week.
Work has been kicking my ass... in the course of 2 days I worked 40 of 48hrs as an example of how my week has been and....I fully expect today to be a 24hr on shift day.
On the plus side...I finally posted again and the maps are prepped for this section.
GM RePete |
If you are wanting mundane arrows, normal price and you find them without issue.
Unfortunately, the nature of the market in town leaves much to be desired in shopping.
You have 2 main options for the time being. State specific items you are looking for and I can roll % chance of you finding them. Alternatively, you can search out some of the merchants and convince them to tell give you a list of random higher cost items they have available in town.
Each month the list of 'black-market' items is refreshed. A diplomacy check can give you the list and locations they are being sold.
Selling certain stuff will be fine - selling other stuff may prove problematic.
Regarding found/acquired/desired loot. The AP I'm playing in on these boards created a spreadsheet to track that stuff. If you'd like, we could certainly do something like that here.
Sendi |
Anyone else up for automatic bonus progression? That way we can assume that all mundane loot goes to the rebellion. Why sell all the swords and armor and whatnot when our recruits need them?
It’d cover the majority of “needed” items without having to constantly shop. And from there we just worry about unique items that drop.

Actually, 'Automatic Bonus Progression' will not benefit you in this AP as you will be kept slower than you could be. You will find stuff of great value and other stuff you have no need for.
The 'Mundane' stuff Rexus can sell for you without having to take the time to RP going to the shop. The other aspect of difficulty in gaining the boosted gear and such is an issue built into the AP for you to overcome.
Philacris Silk |
Because I'm a glutton for punishment spreadsheets, I'll go and put together a loot log sheet for this game. Most likely I'll keep it extra simple (just logging what we found, where, and who if anyone claimed it). It'll take some work to go from the beginning, but eventually we should be able to split stuff up and sell the unwanted excess.
I'd be OK with Automatic Bonus Progression, but its a lot of work for the GM to adjust all the dropped loot such that what ends up appearing is both approx. the right value and doesn't have flat stat bonuses. For APs it tends to be easier to just roll with the loot they provide in the text.
Philacris Silk |
OK, I've spent some time sifting through the gameplay thread for loot. What I've noticed is that there are huge swaths of stuff that was found, but no one in particular mentioned that they're grabbing it. Are we assuming that the group automatically picks found stuff up and stashes it back at the base? Or is all that stuff lost?
I'm assuming that stuff that was claimed by characters no longer in the game has vanished along with them. But there's also plenty of stuff that was claimed by the group as a whole during the interval between the campaign start and when some of the new characters started joining. Its proving tricky to work out how gold and valuables were split.
Also, I've noticed a lot of stuff (possibly magical) that was never ID'd or further investigated.
Pakuzzo |
Yeah, we kind of had a few people bail and just kind of glossed over what happened to that share of the loot. I had assumed that we would have been taking it as a group rather than individually, since it would be absurd that we would just find it and leave it when at the very least it could be sold to fund the rebellion.
As for the magic stuff, we didn't have anyone on hand who had identify on their spell list, so its seems to have just accumulated.
Philacris Silk |
Ah, good point. On that note, I could really go for a scroll of identify to add it to my spellbook :>
---
Here's a first pass at a loot log for Hell's Rebels. It still needs some analysis to work out item values and the like.
Over the course of putting this together, I also spotted a number of loose ends from Hocum's that we either want to go back and complete OR handwave that we investigated:
GM RePete |
You had plenty of time to do those things at Hocum's between end of book one and start of book two as you left.
Feel free to add some Redactor Uniforms to your list of obtained loots, along with the chest.
I'll get you the list of what was in the hidden panel in the gate room this afternoon or this evening.
As for the shopping, I'm fine with not RPing that. Just give me a diplomacy roll to see how much of the blackmarket stuff you can find out about and I'll give you a list.
Beyond that, let me know what gear you are interested in purchasing roll a % check. Anything mundane is available. Anything magical or costing more than 150g may or may not be readily available.
Philacris Silk |
More loot questions and comments:
Spellcraft to ID potions, assuming they're all the same: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Spellcraft to ID potions: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
I think that's about it for now. Would we be able to sell things freely? Or is that also restricted because of Kintargo's state?
Pakuzzo |
Awesome work, Philacris.
Right now I just need the 20 standard arrows (1 gp cost).
Once the shares of gold have been figured out, I'd like to upgrade to a composite longbow with a +3 strength bonus, magic if I can afford it, masterwork if not. Some alchemical silver arrows would be nice, too. And possibly an amulet of natural armor for Vinz.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Percentage: 1d100 ⇒ 47
Philacris Silk |
Waiting on RePete for answers for the questions above. After that, I'll be able to fill out exactly how much gold we'll be picking up each.
In the mean time, here's some Qs for the party:
GM RePete |
Sorry - household of sick kids/wife - then I got it. Ice storm hit my area and sister-in-law hospitalized with a little kid to be watched thats about a month old.
Busy week!
--Looking over Philacris' questions for answers and then will get us headed forward...at least that's the plan.
Pakuzzo |
@Repete: Totally understandable. Take whatever time you need.
@Philacris: From what you've listed, I will definitely take that amulet of natural armor and one of the potions of invisibility. And if no else is going to claim them and we don't have a pressing need for the cash from selling them, I wouldn't be against taking the +1 chain shirt and the remaining cloak of resistance; however if anyone else wants them or thinks they should be sold, I will happily let them have it instead.
I have no strong feelings for or against the soul tomes, and no personal use for the glaive, so if we want to liquidate those for gold, by all means.
Pakuzzo |
Same here; I want the opportunity to test out Vinz's new build.
