Wooooo XP and level 3!
If anybody wants to kill some time.... *coff-unsubtle-pimping-coff* ...I'm rather chuffed with myself for taking second place in the Pathfinder Chronicler Fiction Contest for the year, so pardon a bit of squeeful bragging from this corner. If anyone's bored, my stories (Zero Hour and The Dragon's Attention) are available online, as well as all the other entries!
(Sorry to anyone who's in multiple games with me, you're about to get spammed across the board by my excitement!)

Pent Arotha |

Done did read them both, and you will not be disappointed, Aldi :) You might have to explain them to Ami, since there are no pictures to go along with the words...

Amiamble Piddlespot |

Congratulations! You've all earned enough XP to reach level 3. Next time you rest, you will be able to level up your characters.
Assuming the Harpy doesn't eat the party, let me do this now:

Pent Arotha |

I'll be trucking around Chicagoland area for the daughter's state tenny tourney, so Pent might be <gasp> quieter for a couple of days, depenting on the schedule. Get it? Depen(t)ing...? Yeah, uh... sigh...

GM Sloth |

No worries! Hope you have a good time.
I will also be posting less for the rest of this week, probably next week as well. I've been selected to head up a new permanent project at work, which pretty much changes everything that I'm currently doing. So once training is done and I settle into my new job duties, it'll be back to normal.

Pent Arotha |

Congrats on the new project! Hopefully that also means that you are well-compensated for all the new obligations dropped in your lap :)

Kul Tiryaki |

Kul's advancement:
+1 Level Fighter (Tactician)
Armor Training 1 (move 30' in med. Armor and -1 Armor Penalty)
+8 HP (6 class, +1 from Con, +1 Favored Class)
+1 Feat: Combat Reflexes
+6 Skills (4 class, +1 Int, +1 Human)
Acrobatics 3

Mahdi's advancement:
+1 Level Wizard (Fire Elementalist)

Those of us who have been casting Endure Elements-- feel free to use that spell slot for something else if you like, since Mahdi can cover people for something like 4-5 hours? Of course, if you want to guaranteed all-day coverage, you may want to keep it memorized anyway *shrug*

It appears like you're offering to have your familiar "touch" us to deliver EndElem...uh...uhm...thanks, I'll boil like an Xmas Lobster, thx.
::Ami runs screaming from the scorpion::
(Ami is spontaneous caster and will continue to cover himself and his brother, and you can cover Kul, Pent, and yourself for the traveling 8-hour 'day', eh?)

Aldebert Piddlespot |

Like Amiamble is going to help his mean older brother ever again... :(

GM Sloth |

Sorry that things have been so slow. The new work responsibilities are a lot more involving than my previous tasks, and I'm finding that I have little time to check the boards like I did before.
I'll keep you guys updated on things. I like to maintain honesty with my group, because you guys are investing your time in this as well. So, it's going to be a slow and bumpy next few weeks I think. By that point, I'll have a clear idea of how much time I'll have to devote to PbP.
I'd hate to have to withdraw from running the game, so I'm doing everything I can to make sure it doesn't come to that. But I'll keep you all posted on the status of things as we move forward.

Amiamble Piddlespot |

Meh. Ain't no skin off my teeth.
Take care of the important stuff. I'm enjoying this group and this campaign and will happily stay on even with a slower than usual posting schedule...it will get better.
I appreciate the update...just wish dang Aldebert would get his dang flaming pots so he can stop being so mean to Ami.
Poor Ami's almost in tears.

Pent Arotha |

Kul,
Duly noted :) He's got a history of harassing innocent gnomes. I think his Rolodex of disparaging remarks has two or three cards, so he ends up repeating himself quite often. He's a veritable pull string doll.
Pat him on the head, and nod encouragingly.
Pent
P.S. Pat hard. He's rather thick skulled :)

Aldebert Piddlespot |

Warning. I am, alas, taking a vacation for Thanksgiving, and I've decided to take a vacation from computers as well. That means I will not be able to post much, if at all, starting Sunday night and ending next Sunday morning.
A full week without me. Sorry, but I'm sure you'll get over it. I'll try to contribute from phone a little, but I suck at the phone post so do not expect much of me.
I apologize, but there it is. It's my first actual PbP break I think. Hopefully I don't break out in hives...

Pent Arotha |

Awww, this is easy. Just get into another fight with your other half-ling, and we can pretend that you're brooding the whole march :) Piece of pie... wonder what pesh pie tastes like... probably pumpkin...

DM Are |

Hi everyone :)
I assume/hope that Painlord has already discussed this with all of you, otherwise the rest of this post will probably come off as rather rude, especially towards GM Sloth.. Just to be clear from the start, I'll be happy to return the DM/GM chair to him if/when he returns and wants to regain control of this game.
Anyway, I've read through the gameplay thread, and I'm loving the roleplaying antics of everyone involved over the course of those 1300+ posts! I'm excited to be able to take part in it from a DM's point of view, humbled that I've even been considered for the task, and I hope I'll be able to rise to something close to your level in terms of entertaining roleplay. I'll try my best not to disappoint :)
I'm currently running a Council of Thieves campaign, if any of you want to check out how I'm running that game.
There are a few things I've been handling differently in that game compared to how GM Sloth has handled them in this one. For all of these, I can use his method instead if you wish:
- I'm usually rolling saves for the PCs.
- When there's a group of equal monsters/NPCs in an encounter, I'll roll a single initiative for that group rather than individual initiatives for each (for instance, if there's one pugwampi king and three pugwampis, the king will have his own initiative, but the three regular pugwampis would all act on a single initiative).
- When multiple PCs will act before the next enemy, their actions can be taken in any order rather than needing to adhere to strict initiative order.
- I'm levelling the PCs at suitable times rather than tracking XP (although this will generally match the XP-tracking method).
I haven't used Roll20 before, and I don't have access to the existing group there. So, at least until I've had a chance to test out the site and figure out if I like it, I'll be uploading maps to an ordinary imagehost. Hopefully, there won't be much difference for you other than having to post where you want to move rather than moving your own tokens on the map :)
Whew! That was a lot for a first post, and I've probably missed some details. Feel free to ask me anything either here or via the email-address in my profile.
I'll have a gameplay post up either later tonight or tomorrow. That is, unless you decide to lynch me for even attempting to take Sloth's place!

'Sup, dog! *salutes*
I'm Dien, Mahdi's player. Thanks for being willing to fill in some mighty big shoes. I've been enjoying the game a lot and it's good of you to offer to fill in.
I have no complaints/problems with anything you've outlined. I will say Roll20 is pretty awesome, so play around with it when you can. ;)

Aldebert Piddlespot |

Greetings from the elder, and handsomer, brother. :)
I too am fine with everything you've outlined. It's similar to what I do in my campaign - I never did get the hang of rolld20. Likely a personal problem, but it's not intuitive for me as a DM and so more work and so I don't do it...
I look forward to familiarizing myself with your style - and stealing all your good ideas!
Thanks for taking over.

Amiamble Piddlespot |

Ami pets Yeenoghu as DM Are enters thread, his face still hidden by his scarf.
That one will see my true face. That one is welcome to it.
Ami and Yeenoghu both bow to the newcomer, making welcome.
* * * *
Whatever you want to do is fine, DM Are. I'll adjust to trying something new or not.
I have great faith in your abilities (and especially your ability to roleplay) and expect the fun to continue. We have a great group here and have much to do in the name of Sarenrae!
If you need anything from me, do not hesitate to ask.

Mahdi al-Jabira |

In the name of Saranrae, and Nethys, thankyewverymuch.

DM Are |

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
Since the steepness of the western hillside may have been unexpected, I'll repost the link to a side-view map GM Sloth posted earlier: Kelmarane Village
I can't recall if this was been posted earlier, but it's worth noting that during the days and nights of keeping watch from the monastery, noone has seen any gnoll patrols approaching the old church. They've tended to keep to the road down the hillside from the battle market, and the buildings near the waterfront.

Pent Arotha |

It's good to repeat things with this party, especially with the halflings. Point of interest, the expression 'half-wit' inspired Gary Gygax to create the race in the first iteraton of the game.

Amiamble Piddlespot |

DM Are:
Under the previous administration, instead of the very broken 'Finding Haleen' trait, Ami and Sloth worked out this alternative:
Finding Haleen: "+1 to Ride, and the DC to fast mount/dismount is reduced to 15."
However, if this needs to change, please let me know. Otherwise, let it be noted.
-Ami

Aldebert Piddlespot |

Oh yeah. Amiamble is right, we did change those. Mine too is more balanced like my brothers.
Finding Haleen Campaign Trait (link to original) (+1 Appraise & Sense Motive when bartering, Appraise is class skill)
But of course if you'd like to do something different, I'm fine with any change. If we do change it, I'd like permission to maybe move some skills around. I want to make sure my mercantile background is reflected in my abilities. :)
