So, it's Aldebert who handles the money around here? He sounds reasonable, so I'll defer to his judgment for now. If he has more sparkles down the line than any of us, I say we turn him upside down, and empty his pockets for a better accounting.

I'm not even in a hurry for a masterwork weapon for Mahdi. Wayyy down the road, sure, I can have a magic weapon (or just inherit that +1 dagger) but if I'm physically attacking something, that +1 isn't likely to help much. :P

Hey All--
Pondering how to combine what I had intended to be a slow introduction of Ami's shy character with the fact that we are now 10 days into our journey together and are now fighting fires together.
It's important to me and my backstory that I reveal slowly and as we go rather than have assumed familiarity. However, since we're 10 days in, it's odd to assume that nothing beyond base introductions have happened.
So, for the sake of my own narrative reality, Ami is going forth without having any familiarity with any of you (save Aldebert...my beloved brother) for the first 10 days of the trip. For the first part of the journey, during the day, Ami has been scouting, foraging, mapping and ranging. At night, he's kept to himself, sleeping in a hidden spot curled up with Yeenoghu.
He has certainly seen you all, but he doesn't trust any of you just yet. And Yeenoghu (Int 6) is going to react similarly or differently (like we can expect any consistency out of a cat).

Hey All--
The above is still true, just taking a bit longer for Ami to come out of his shell than what I had expected. Sadly, the introduction of the freely babblying gnome has made him a bit more on edge regarding opening himself up to others.
And suddenly we're level two! Anyhoot, he'll have more interactions soon enough with others beyond his brother.
Thanks for you patience and understanding.
-Ami

Not a problem, Rand. I was thinking that as my spell splots get a weeee bit more plentiful, Mahdi will offer to cast Mage Armor on Yeen, unless you have IC or OOC objections.
No objections at all after Yeen comes to trust Mahdi. In fact, that sort of thinking has me yearning for a pearl of power to aid in that.
It'll be a gracious offer that will go a long way with Ami.

So I'm going to have to make a ruling, and I hope you're not upset/offended by this. But Taking 20 on just a general sweep of a room for traps doesn't really work with the PbP format. I will allow you to Take 20 on specific objects or locations, but without being able to physically show me via the tabletop where you are searching, it doesn't quite work. Especially if, say, triggering a trap is based on making eye contact with an object, or touching an object. Do you touch it as part of your examination of Taking 20? It's too vague.
Does that make sense? I'm willing to figure out a good alternative.
Amiamble Piddlespot |
Does that make sense? I'm willing to figure out a good alternative.
Totally. We should be able to take 20 for specific actions (like you suggest), but not as a rule.
Hazim Al-Jabira |
I can sort of see where you are coming from with the decision. But at the same time I have to be honest and say it does bother me some because I feel like I'm specifically being targeted with this. Especially with this format, because there is so much I can't say that my character is or isn't doing, or give you more details. But I don't think I should necessarily be penalized because of format either.
I'll try and think of some ideas.
GM Sloth |
First, the only reason you feel targeted is because you're the only one Taking 20. :P
I kid. I wanted to bring it up to everyone to get an idea of a solution instead of just telling you, "Nope, can't do that." So don't take it personally, please. That's not my intention.
Anyway, I would tell the same thing in a face-to-face game as well. Taking 20 has to be more specific, otherwise it's just too vague. Especially if there are possible consequences to a thorough search, such as touching something trapped, or walking on a specific tile. When one says they're Taking 20, I don't assume they are just standing outside in the hallway staring for two minutes into the room. But maybe that's how you guys are envisioning it?
Hazim Al-Jabira |
As I said earlier, I sort of see your point. Every time I take 20 for traps, I also roll perception. Because I realize the nature of traps, and know that taking 20 isn't always possible, so I leave it to you to decide which roll to use. I've always felt that was a fair solution.
If you want taking 20 to be more specific, more detailed, it would help me if you gave me more specifics as well, more descriptions. Then I can give you the details you want, and if I missed something or touch something in my description, then trigger it.
Hazim Al-Jabira |
Hey guys. With my current schedule, and the whole poet laureate thing, I just can't give this the time and effort it, and all you guys, deserve. I'm going to have to bow out. It's been great playing with you guys. And I hope to do it again one day, hopefully face to face.

All enemies are suspended on the ceiling, 10' up. So ranged/reach weapons are required to hit.
So...the ceilings are 15' tall in this area?
Just want to confirm before silly things happen.
Amiamble Piddlespot |
No, they are 10 feet. Hence being ten feet up. :P
Oh good. We should be able to hit them with normal (nonreach) weapons then when they get closer...or claws or bites.
Carry on!

"Using the base assumption of 30-foot cards, it takes a move action to move through a single card. When a character exits from a card, he must choose one of that card's two obstacles to face as a standard action before moving to the next card. Success means the character moves to the next card, while failure means the character must face the obstacle again on the next round. Instead of exiting a card, a character can choose to take another action not directly related to navigating the chase's course, such as casting a spell or drawing a weapon."
This is the important part to remember here. Just for reference.

Wow...couldn't find anyone good, huh?
Well, the barrel bottom has been scraped, might as well make the best of it.
Welcome, Sarta. I look forward to you finally playing Pathfinder at its highest level and purest form. ;)
Pent Arotha |
Who the heck are you talking to, Ami?! Sloth is telling you that Sarta is due to show up, but he ain't here at present. Why don't you wait patiently for him to show up? Like when the groundhog comes out of his hole and looks for his shadow. That's when you strike it on its head, mole-style.
Amiamble Piddlespot |
Ami shakes his head at Pent, who *clearly* doesn't know Sarta at all.
Fool gnome. Sarta always brings the cheese. You don't leave cheese for those who are made of it. There are few more cheezy. ;)

Since Almah expects you all to keep watch throughout the night, could you guys determine a watch order for me? That'll make things easier for me in the future. Thanks!
Is Kul to be included in this watch? And will he be sober?
