Had a nice discussion on the messageboards with Paizo staff about our avatar challenges. Hopefully we'll see more options in the near future.

Hey All--
Pondering how to combine what I had intended to be a slow introduction of Ami's shy character with the fact that we are now 10 days into our journey together and are now fighting fires together.
It's important to me and my backstory that I reveal slowly and as we go rather than have assumed familiarity. However, since we're 10 days in, it's odd to assume that nothing beyond base introductions have happened.
So, for the sake of my own narrative reality, Ami is going forth without having any familiarity with any of you (save Aldebert...my beloved brother) for the first 10 days of the trip. For the first part of the journey, during the day, Ami has been scouting, foraging, mapping and ranging. At night, he's kept to himself, sleeping in a hidden spot curled up with Yeenoghu.
He has certainly seen you all, but he doesn't trust any of you just yet. And Yeenoghu (Int 6) is going to react similarly or differently (like we can expect any consistency out of a cat).
Malki, I'll be retro-RPing your interaction with the cat as I think he would have reacted. If you wish to ignore, that's fine too. I'm trying to melt the beginning of the AP with my narrative. I know you all understand and appreciate your support/RP/patience.
-Regards,

forgot the all important word "not" in my last post. Hence the phrase "moves to the side."
I beg your indulgence, Hazim, as I mostly certainly realized that, but Amiamble did not. He chose to use the 'incident' as a measure of roleplaying and in fun...I can imagine that it's easy to miss a 3' tall beige colored little man who desperately doesn't want to be seen yet wants to help.
Sometimes roleplaying hooks can come from weird places, and I jumped upon this one as a chance to react.

He taps Alderbert on the tummy quickly, smiling.
And by the looks of it, we'll need every copper we have just to feed you.
Damn. Well played.
Mahdi al-Jabira |
*bows* Why thank you! It's fun to play a flaw like this.
...until Mahdi lights someone on fire

Just a warning, as it will come up very soon.
This adventure works under the assumption that no one has ever heard of something in particular. You will know it when it comes up. They were fresh to Pathfinder, Erik Mona being very proud of their inclusion. So, I will run it under that same assumption.
Once you know what I'm talking about, I know there will be much gnashing of teeth and weeping. Just keep it OOC for now. :)

Hope you guys don't mind me typing out my rolls. I don't get to RP anymore right now (schedule is too tight) so this is my only opportunity. I have a set of dice at my comp, and I enjoy chucking 'em to get my rolls. So unless there's any complaints or such, I'll continue rolling them in RL if it's alright with everyone.

Sorry for the delay.
I know this initial part is a little long, but you've all been doing a great job with it. The juggling of different threads at the same time has been difficult, but working okay. And, of course, just when I get to the point where I lay down the groundwork to wrap up this section of the adventure and bring everyone back together... We split even further!
So, I'm pulling my hair out trying to weave this all back together again, as most of the basic framework that I've been plotting has kinda been thrown out the window. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that I will need some extra time to get all the ducks in a row.
Just wanted to keep you all updated, in case there is a few day lapse in posts from me.
Amiamble Piddlespot |
Are you saying that I've managed to screw up yet another of your runs?
Ah man...who could have seen that coming?! After the first time...and the second time...and the time after that...
But, yeah, I'm not noticing any strangeness (outside of the usual strangeness...::gives Mahdi a sideways glance::) so it's all good.

Yeah, if you need to reunite us I can have Mahdi go "MY BROTHER IS GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE WITHOUT ME THERE TO TELL HIM WHAT TO DO" and bolt out into the desert after him, that's fine.
That said, I think the ability to split the party is actually one of the strengths of PBP. At the table it's just a pain because half the party sits around being bored, but in PBP the GM can divide his attention.
Of course, if Malki and Hazim are about to run into a big threat, then we should definitely be reunited. ;)

Just going to set up some Amiamble defaults. Unless otherwise noted:
When day traveling:
Buckler will be slung on Yeenoghu.
Halfling staffsling will be stowed on his person.
Ami & Yeen will travel ahead and aside of the caravan/party, scouting and looking for things of interest. You never know what is over the next hill.
In the areas of prospective trouble:
Buckler on left arm.
Staffsling in right hand, guiding Yeenoghu by voice and knees.
Ami & Yeen will be 10' behind brave brother Aldebert, for his brother means everything to him.

Do folks have a preference for gold/loot accounting? I can set up a Google Doc like Malki suggested and share it with everyone if that's easiest.
Also, at this point, my combat map situation became a little complicated. So, I have everything currently set up at Roll20, ready to go for the next section of the adventure. In the past, I was able to use Roll20 at work by sitting outside the brewery next door and using their wi-fi. However, they just closed down, it's blocked at my work.
Their wi-fi is still working, but I don't know for how long. So, let's plan on using Roll20 for now while I look at some other options. If everyone can please click the Roll20 link in the header and log in, that way I can assign a token to you to move. Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I'm sorry to say that I'll be withdrawing from this PBP. A lot going on in life right now, and I find I'm not able to bring to Malki and the game the level of attention I desire in a game.
Thanks to Slosh for his good, hard work putting things together for the campaign, and apologies if this leaves the group in the lurch for a while.

So, being down to four, do we want to try and recruit a new fifth, or just carry on with four? In a public PbP campaign, I understand the desire for more players as its common for people to drop or become inactive. With our group, I don't think that will necessarily be an issue, or at least one that we couldn't deal with if it arose. Plus, I've always been more partial to the smaller groups as it provides the appropriate challenges of the AP, plus makes things move that much quicker.
That said, I'd prefer to leave that open to you guys. What's the team's preference?

Aldebert Piddlespot |
Bernie sorry to see you go! :(
Sloth, I do have someone in mind for a fifth, though I haven't really talked to him about it. If we do want a fifth, he'd be an excellent choice - he's a great role-player. He's playing in a PbP I'm running and he's much fun.
Hazim Al-Jabira |
I'm cool with whatever option. If you guys think you know someone who is a good fit, I'm down to try. Also, if one of us needs to run a cleric as a second character, I'm okay with that also.
GM Sloth |
Bernie was really kind enough to help me make a treasure record sheet before leaving. I posted the link at the top for easy access.
Feel free to add treasure found to the Found Treasure Log if I haven't yet. If anyone claims anything in particular, make sure you note it both on the Found Treasure Log tab and the Kept Treasure Log.
Aldebert Piddlespot |
Yeap, ratboy. hehehehe. If I catch him online today I'll talk to him about it. I've been swamped with work this week and so haven't had a chance to do much.
I think he'll be a good fit with this group if he can commit to the time.
