Oily blade..? More foul play, then.. He is better off without his weapon

The enemy's kama leaves an oily streak on Tybain's shield, but his flesh is quite safe from the supposed poison. Before Eenie has time to recover from his failed attack, Tybain's hand darts to grab the enemy's wrist and twists the poisonous blade off his hand.

Move action: martial flexibility to gain Improved disarm
improved disarm : 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10

Ugh, these rolls... The enemy was charging, but still

Glarifyur rolls on the wooden floor in an unnatural state of laughter, seething inside despite his forced mirth. He grits his teeth and focuses on the not just the stupidity of the joke, but the downright insulting nature, and shakes off the effects of the spell.

You passed your second save. You are still prone, but no longer laughing.

On the south side of the warehouse, Bugdip cocks his arm back, ready to throw the volatile chemical. He waits ever so patiently for everyone to get out of the way. Tybain reaches for the kama, surprising the Aspis agent with his quickness. She isn’t able to get an attack off because the masked pathfinder leaves no opening for her, but she manages to maintain her grip on the weapon.

Ifran hobbles as best as he can with a lame leg, and as soon as Tybain takes a step backwards, Bugdip looses his weapon. The glass vial connects with the woman’s shoulder, showering her in a wave of rapidly reacting fire as she screams in pain.

Amin stumbles in, hoping to finish off what he couldn’t command the dog to do, but looses his footing along the way and swings wildly over Eenie’s head.

The woman’s armor smoulders and the smell of burnt hair wafts past the pathfinders nostrils. A righteously indignant gnome on the upper level screams for retribution and payment for the souls who suffered under the effects of the drug whip, and his magical bolt delivers on the promise, striking the woman full in the chest. The wounds are too much for her, and the sudden, furious onslaught overwhelms her. She collapses on her knees, the kama falling limply to the ground while her unconscious form struggles for breath.

Regina, squaring off back on the north side of the warehouse, tries to slip past the tavern singer, but his position in the door and a deftly turned knee prevents her from passing through. The man flashes out with his rapier at the suddenly off balance cat, trying to stick it in its ribs.

AoO vs Regina: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 for damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

The stab fails to find purchase in the mountain lion’s body, but the same goes for the cat’s swipe at the agent.

Edgar grumbles internally as another of his prepared attacks is foiled when the conditions just aren’t quite right.

I am assuming Regina attempted to go through Miney’s square, otherwise the acrobatics roll wouldn’t have been necessary. When she failed, she goes into the last available space before she would have passed through, which gets in Edgar’s way of attacking.

Miney, completely unaware of the chaos and death on the south side of the warehouse, presses the attack against his clustered foes. He curses his inability to cast a simple spell like burning hands and decides to instead work on hampering his enemy’s footing.

He steps back to avoid another swipe from the cat, and fills the area with magically conjured grease.

Greased area marked on the map – I want you to roll your own reflex saves to stand up or stay up. DC 14 Reflex save or fall prone. If you decide to move, you can move at half speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check.

Ifran raises his arms in a huff, exhasperated for his effort to get where he is, only to have to turn around and hobble back up the stairs. Bugdip and Tybain sprint out the open secret door, hoping to cut off any escape by the lone remaining aspis agent.

Glarifyur growls, but maintains his self-control, lessons from his father, Durifyur, ringing in his head about what happens when a dwarf lets his emotion get the best of him. Sliding carefully out of the magically greased area, Glarifyur finds solid footing and stands back up.

Miney snarls and evil half smile as he watches the pathfinders foible all over themselves in the pool of grease.

"Hahaha!" he laughs mockingly as the mountain lion sprawls out on her belly, spinning in a half circle and unable to control her movement in the slippery goo.

His sneer is wiped away as the youth in the wide brimmed hat carefully steps through. His arm coils back, ready to strike should the bold young man get to close.

Rattus moves through the door, appearing to position himself to cut off an escape, but leaves an opening for the half-elf, grease flinging aspis agent.

"Haha, I'll gut you yet!" he cries and lunges hard with his rapier.

Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Today, however, Rattus shows that he is the superior swordsman. With a deft twist of his wrist, Miney's sword flies wide, and the tavern singer knows it has gone to far to recover. He helplessly watches as Rattus turns his wrist over, re-aligning the pointy end of his blade straight at Miney's heart.

He doesn't even feel it enter his body. There is a coldness that grips his limbs, and the twinkling stars suddenly seem so bright and distinct.

"Have you ever just sat, and watched the stars, pathfinders?" he says, not realizing he has collapsed to his knees.

You should really just stop sometime in all the fuss and hustle. Just look at those beautiful stars...

His next thought is only in his mind. The soul of the half-elf named Miney is already trying to find a way to rest, the body that carried it pouring it's lifeblood through a tiny pin hole in his heart.

Utter blackness leaps up from the ground to swallow Miney as he falls, down down into the abyss.

As the moon passes over the sky, the pathfinders gather up the bodies and do their best to stabilize who they can from the Aspis agents. Any who do come around refuse to talk, despite any threat of pain or promise of good things.

Random question, do you leave the lift trapped? It never came into play, and techinically won't affect your outcome/results.

Almost exactly at midnight, and right on time, Delroya shows up at the door with an army of shadowy figures and a barge. They begin swarming the inside of the warehouse, gathering crates and loading them to the barge. With their tools and efficiency it is easy to see that this warehouse will be empty by morning.

Delroya approaches the group.

"Thank you again for what you have done. You need to leave now. Head back to your ship and Venture Captain Valsin." her words are curt, but polite. She is clearly still in command mode, and anxious to get this last step completed in her plan.

"I bribed the town guard last week, and so we won't have any issues with the authorities interrupting us here. We wouldn't have been able to pull this off without your efforts. For that, you can rest assure that this won't be the last time we see each other."

With that, the woman moves briskly off into the warehouse to continue to direct and help where necessary.

When I get some more time, hopefully today, I will post the de-brief with Valsin. Once again, nice work everyone!

Glarifyur nods to Delroya as she saunters away evilly. Or maybe he imagined that.

Something tells me we haven't heard the last from Miss Delroya...

He then turns toward his amassed party of Pathfinders in the warehouse.

"I have enjoyed working with you all. I also hope to be assigned with you in the future, as I believe we work well together."

Glarifyur strokes his beard and remembers the words of his father, Durifyur: "Of all the lessons I've taught you, remember this one most keenly. There is no greater armor than surrounding yourself with staunch, diverse and reliable allies. Seek them out and stand with them through all adversity, and you will have a long, successful life."

He smiles to himself as he finishes his thought and surveys his party, still stroking his beard. Just then, a large, bloody tuft of mustache comes out in his hand.

"Oh, will one of you magical types hit me with this wand please?"

Glarifyur eagerly eyes Nugats, Bugdip and Ifran as he attempts to hold the piece of mustache in place.

”Don’t worry about the Aspis Agents, I’ll have my men take care of them as well.” Delroya says over her shoulder as the pathfinders leave.

The pathfinders part ways with Delroya, some with suspicion still harbored in their hearts, others with admiration, and even others with more base emotions hanging over their thoughts.

The trip back to the Sixwing Drake is mostly silent, save Nugat’s impatience. The pathfinder captain of the vessel raises her hand, not interested in hearing the story. ”Save it for Valsin. With any luck, we will be back in the Absalom harbor before the end of the day tomorrow and he will be waiting.”

And so the pathfinders twiddle their thumbs. So much rushing around, urgency and importance, only now to be left, stuck on a boat bobbing in the sea, making their way slowly towards Absalom. By all accounts, the mission was a resounding success.

It is after mid-day when the Sixwing drake is ferried into the harbor. Valsin meets them at the docks as they disembark. To the pathfinder’s surprise, Delroya is standing behind him.

”Well done men! And Frog! And… Cat!” He beams his genuine pride in the recruits. ”I swear, this society pulls in the strangest of… recruits… and it gets stranger by the day.” he mumbles to himself.

”You have dealt a serious blow to the Aspis Consortium’s operations on this Isle, and cut off a major new source of funding for that vile operation. And you did it in just the way I would expect, with discretion, efficiency, and unrelenting force. The Aspis Consortium will think twice before trying to develop a foothold near Absalom, and the Kortos Consortium will think twice before dealing with such a wretched and incompetent organization. Or at least, that is how you made them appear. My contacts have already reported that the relationship between the two is very strained, and the authorities are looking into the production of the drug. Your actions likely saved hundreds, if not thousands of people’s lives and livelihoods, keeping that drug off the streets of the various cities across this land.”

”I received a personal thank you as well from Lord Avid for your discretion in dealing with both consortiums in the warehouse. He has taken each of your names and added it to his personal list. That is a favor not to be taken lightly, young agents.” Valsin, standing with his hands clasped behind his back as is his normal position when addressing agents, takes a moment to turn and look at Delroya who is standing behind him.

Her demeanor is clearly softened from their earlier meetings, and she has stood in silence, eyes mostly cast down. She does not appear cowed however, as there is a certain comfort level, and relief, that can be seen on her previously worried face. She is relaxed, seemingly at home.

”Most importantly,” Valsin says, turning back to face the agents, ”You represented our society with honor and class, exactly as expected. And as such, Miss Delroya has decided that the Pathfinder Society is where she should have been all along. While her inside knowledge of the Aspis consortium will be important, her skills and talents will be even more so. The Aspis’ loss is the Pathfinder’s gain, thanks to you and your efforts.”

The entire group of nine pathfinder agents stand in uncomfortable silence, unsure who is supposed to speak next or what they are supposed to say, until Valsin breaks the silence.

”What are you still standing here for! Get outta here I got things to do!”

Aaaaaaaand Scene! Well done everyone!

As another note since we have a couple of new players, please take time to review my profile page, which has a particular section on what to do in my games.

For the record, I didn't even bother copying the information, I just created a link to GM Damo's (aka Bugdip) profile. I have thought about it many times, for probably too much time, and I simply can't come up with a better breakdown of expectations that help make a game run smoothly, and contributes so well to everyone's fun at the table. Damien did an awesome job constructing that, and so deserves heaps and heaps of credit. Read his other guides and tips as well. Trust me, they work.

The section below is also just links to various PbP guides that will be of great help to you.

So I know everyone at the table, but not everyone knows the two new guys. Please don't be shy and introduce yourselves. There is lots of awesome people here who will hopefully all (or most) be at Gen Con next year. I love this format of gaming, and I want to share that with everyone here, with my hope being to help grow the community just a little bit. If at anytime any of you are not having fun, or are frustrated, please don't be afraid to PM me. I'll take constructive critisism or be the go-between with you and another player if required. Again, the goal here is fun. If we aren't having it, why play?

Would anyone leave me a flaming bag of poo on the porch if I used the 2 PP to get a wand of magic missiles instead of the happy stick? I was basically worthless talking to rats and making fake sounds last go round.
Having trouble with purchases, will have to run through some scrolls for some options. I initially built Nugats as a GM blob for the 1 level dip and it has been painful mechanically so far.

OK everyone - I can't resist sharing this with you, because I know all of you will appreciate it. I'll try to keep the story as short as I can.

Here is a link to the Journal of Durifyur Egdoras, the dwarf referenced in Garifyur's initial gameplay post.

EDIT: WARNING! ANGELFIRE WEBSITE HAS TONS OF POP-UPS AND ADS! APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE! BUT THE JOURNAL READ IS TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Some background for you - Durifyur was Aaron's character in one of the longest running games I played in when I was much younger. This was D&D... pretty sure 3.0 (maybe 3.5? I don't remember anymore)

Kirian Anwemane was my Avarial (winged elf) elementalist wizard. It was great fun, unfortunatly the game died when we party wiped on a challenge that we shouldn't have taken on.

Anyways - I thought you might enjoy reading his journal, which was an in character representation of our adventures and combats.

Just because I think it will be incredible fun, my GM blob for this group is going to use my Aasimar boon. He will be a descendant of Kirian Anwemane (easy enough to handwave the winged elf from the old system to a garuda-blooded aasimar). I havent worked out yet all the ways that he will be connected to Glarifyur, but I am excited about the possiblities.

    Ok /end nerd overload

Funny story, I forgot that when you click on the journal entries, it still downloads a word file that the journal is in. Sorry about that!

But no more! As requested, I have compiled all of the journal entries into one google document.

I present (in a much more readable format) The Journal of Durifyur Egdoras.

Please be warned - it ended up being 17 pages long. This is awesome, because there is so much, but also not likely easy to consume in one sitting.

Second warning - it was written in the forgotten realms (tm) setting. You will note many references to Breunor and Drizzt. Two of my favorite literary characters growing up - Judge me if you must, but I don't care! :) Perfect flow and balance doesn't matter in this case, IMO. Its awesome Backstory/History!

Sorry if I am making Aaron feel awkward in anyway. I just always thought this journal was awesome. In fact, the memory of this is a big part of what drew me to play by post, once I learned that it was a thing that existed.

PS - if you are up for it Aaron, I would love to work with you on writing the end of that story, which we could segway into your current character's creation.

Hey guys, I don't want to mooch too much or meta too much... but would anyone mind if I purchased a wand of shield instead of a wand of cure light wounds with my first prestige purchase? I think it will help my survivability long term... but I don't want to mooch too much on others' generosity.

I'll definitely get a CLW with my next 2 PP, but just wanted to double check that there are no issues with me flouting convention to get a different wand first. It's weird having a spell list with viable options to choose from...

Ok - got carried away with that set up. Hope you like the scene set.

So you have the first mate and an official port inspector arguing on the deck of the ship. You know from the note that the documents you are looking for are in the captain's cabin, which shouldn't be to difficult to spot... once you get on board that is.

This scenario is very flexible for the methods that you might choose to get onboard. Work up a plan together and let me know what you would like to do, and let me know what relavant skill check you think would apply. This could potentially take a little while to hash it out, so I won't let you flounder, but I would prefer you to work out what you would like to do as a group before someone runs in like homer simpson.

Of course, let me know if you have any questions!

Also, let me know if I missed something/didn't respond to something you were looking for.

    Good work so far everyone.

    So far I have:

1 for Sneak aboard through swimming
2 for Sneak aboard through other means to avoid swimming
2 for Talk your way aboard
-----With provisions to combine both methods, and a last gasp provision for fighting and holding the gangplank

We still have 2 people to weigh in, but I'll mention this now to perhaps help focus your thoughts.

Sneaking aboard and talking your way aboard are both viable options. However talking your way aboard and discovering those who snuck aboard might get awkward.

Should you want to combine the two options, having some sneak aboard while others talk to the first mate and dock inspector would also be a viable option.

Should you want to combine the two options, having some sneak aboard while others talk to the first mate and dock inspector would also be a viable option.

If we decided to combine the 'sneaking' and 'fast talking' plans, what you mention above basically what I was thinking. The 'talking' crew would never actually look for the shipping documents, but instead would try to keep as much of the Blue Dragon's Bite crew busy, so the 'sneaking' party would have less of the ship's crew to hide from.

But how we would exactly go about that, I have no idea :)

It is basically going to be a series of skill checks that I will lay out for you once you have a plan as a team.

To metagame (hate when people say not to and then do just that) how are we sneaking? I only have a stealth mod of +4 and that isn't going to cut it in these conditions.

I could use ghost sound. It is weird that people can see you cast a spell but hten believe a distraction.

+6 for me. By the way, +4 and +6 aren't so bad at level 1. :-)

Bugdip did suggest acquiring potions or similar stuff.

This is PFS, a structured play system that requires strict adherence to RAW. To me, that almost encourages meta gaming. I don't have a problem with it because a good player can make a meta game decision still feel organic in character, and this table is full of good gamers.

Just in case you don't read the blog, Christmas free boon for everyone here. You can apply it to any character. If you apply it to the one in this game, it will affect your chronicle number for when I fill out your sheets for the next game. Ilk be happy to explain that further if that creates any questions for you.

Thanks for that. I did add this to Nugats, so the boon became #2, and this chronicle will be #3 for the scenario. I also choose the Starkissed sand. Do I need to send it to you to sign?

No need, just want to know if it affects your chronicle number. I trust everyone to handle their boons properly :)

DO you need to sign off on it?

Male Human (Michigander) GM/1 Tactical - Where on Golarion - CLW Charges: 0

Heh... I forgot that it needs a GM signature on it. Yea, I will fill it out for you then, not a problem

Anyone else want to apply it to their character in this game? Let me know and I will fill it out and sign it for you.

The boon ends up being a one time use boon, but no sense in saying no to something that is free!

I feel it is important to mention that with tomorrow and friday being the celebration of the birth of our Savior, There will be no posting requirements. I will be here, and will be happy to respond should you decide to post. Just know that with the holiday I won't require anything. Hopefully we can pick back up over the weekend and into early next week, just in time to do it all again for the new year.

    Merry Christmas Everyone!

So I'm still on the docks but Regina made it onboard? I'm just wondering what my options are when I don't have direct control over her. I would almost like to see if she could stealthily grab the keys, but I don't think I have that granular of a level of control over her. She does have the Fetch trick, I just need her to do a sneaky fetch...

If that seems too risky and someone on the boat is capable of picking locks I'll be more conservative and work on the distraction on the docks.

Not that my vote should matter, but +1 for sneaky fetch. That would be awesome.

You and the diplomacy guys could also pretend that they don't know whose lion it is and 'help' chase her down.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the slow moving over the holiday weekend. This next weekend might be similar, so I won't hold it against anyone if they struggle to post come Thursday night into the weekend.

A heads up if your posting frequency will dip would be appreciated, and I will do the same for you so I can't be accused of the pot calling the kettle black. :D

I'll just go right ahead and say that Thursday night I will be enthralled by the Michigan State vs Alabama national semi. My mood Friday morning will be directly related to MSU's victory or lack thereof.
