doesn't the spittle have a range increment of 15', meaning you can attack farther, but you're at a -2 penalty? That's the way most of the range stuff in pathfinder works. A longbow can shoot beyond 100' (up to 200') but at a -2 penalty. Or a dagger can be thrown 30', but that's at the 3rd range increment so the penalty is applied twice (-4).
@Gur: you won't hit with a 5 anyway, but don't forget your bonuses to hit. Looks like you have a +3 (+4BAB, +1DEX, -2 trait penalty).

Rufus previously dropped his sword at his feet. With his BAB, could he "draw" the sword as part of his move action to advance, or would that consume a move action of its own? If the latter, he'll instead draw another weapon as he goes.
I'm fine with that; feel free to draw as part of the move.

Yup, it took some back and forth between the spell, tanglefoot bag, and flight, but you had it right! It'll be up after Dura, and no doubt will be testing its bonds;)

Thanks; I'm finally back up and running...sort of. I don't have internet yet, but power is back. We have a lot of water damage, trees down, shingles and siding missing, but we're safe and sound so all good! It's going to take me a bit to caught up, particularly when posting by phone.

They did indeed. If you want to move past the process though, I can tell you that you're not going to find anything beyond the odd personal effects of these particular villagers. There's no additional information in the victims' homes about the Beast or the attacks.
