we might be better off just having Zaz channel a bunch. I dont think you want to deal with the swimming combat
Based upon your first glance, it's about 15 feet down to the start of the water, the water is 15 feet deep at the aura is at the bottom

That's what I was afraid of. I don't see a solo dive as the solution here. Rufus has very little at his disposal aside from his mutagen. If dura is going to wield a magic mace, I suggest using the scroll on her since she'll be in melee.
No dive then. Doesn't even seem like it would be easy to climb out of.
Note that we will all be in 'melee' with holy water against incorporeal. That is, we have to be adjacent to attack with it.

Oh okay. Incorporeal attacks target touch AC, right? Mine is quite low, so there's that. Zazaria may also draw its attention if she's channeling.
Yeah anyone in heavy armor might consider removing it if that imprives. Touch ac
Can my alchemical spittle spell effect incorporeal. I thought not, but then read:
Corporeal spells and effects that do not cause damage only have a 50% chance of affecting an incorporeal creature.
I don't think that it would, no - since it acts as an adhesive
Zazaria is up just before Dura; if Z doesn't pop in and do otherwise, I'll roll for her channel in the morning.
Is it next turn? Leeoli took an extract last turn

I’ll be on vacation from 3-2F until 3-5M. Please bot me as necessary!
Can do, thanks Rufus
I'll be on the road a bit tomorrow - NC to Baltimore and back again. Will be posting at red lights and in between meetings;)
Rufus, you can hit incorporeal with that right?
And...holy cow

actually no, not without some magical help :(. I forgot about Henrick's claws being able to do so. But I guess it makes sense Rufus would forget, given his diminished wisdom.

Dura is using a +1 Mace at least.
Gotcha; I couldn't remember if you guys had a buff used prior to battle that would have done that.
How did I reply as Ramundr. Sorry.
Dura and Rufus, I assume you all went around the pool to attack. The tokens on the map should be moved.
Also, unless it was casting defensively, then both Dura, Rufus, and Leeoli (due to his enlongated arms) should get attacks of opportunity. I'm gonna guess it is powerful enough to make those checks :)
I forgot about Leeoli's long arms; he would have gotten an AOO, but he moved (5 foot step) back from Rufus and Dura before casting.
Would he have cast defensively?
In any case, he only had two vials of holy water left. Let's just say if he got an aoo, he'd have thrown a holy water, and not have TWF it this round. Thus remove the penalties off his attack this turn..though my rolls were pretty good regardless.
He would have it he felt threatened, yes. However, I'm having trouble weighing if you actually threaten or not. I get the extended reach, that makes sense. But using holy water against incorporeal is a ranged touch attack. I don't think you'd threaten him with this. Thoughts?
Dura, feel free to roll for Daniel on your turn, as well. If the spell sticks, he'll have rats to eat.
F Human Oracle-5 HP 32/32 | AC 20 (T15 F16) | F+2 R+6 W+4 | CMD17, Init+4, Perception+6 | Active Effects:bless
I didn't even think of that. I was keeping him out of the path of the ghost and protecting Zaz.
I don't think you would get an AoO since you don't have a melee weapon equipped. Usually, you have to have a feat to do something like that (like snap shot) with a ranged attack. The exception would be a spell held that you could deliver as a melee touch attack
That's what I was thinking, Dura. Of course, since the spell takes 1 round, you'll have a chance to hit him and force him to lose the spell anyway...really hate that rule. So...the rats aren't actually there yet...
yeah its a ranged touch, so no aoo. Good point.
Yeah hell have to make a concentration check, but I bet he is a good concentrator.
Nice work so far; I counted 40 damage total to him
The power of buffing before a planned fight. Leeoli has shield cast on himself and so negates magic missile, if I understand correctly.
Oh and maximized missile. TPK!
Indeed, sure does. Excellent planning indeed!
F Human Oracle-5 HP 32/32 | AC 20 (T15 F16) | F+2 R+6 W+4 | CMD17, Init+4, Perception+6 | Active Effects:bless
Zaz may just want to channel to heal a few people since multiple folks have been damaged
Indeed. Those maximized magic missile are killer. Also, I have to say that this terrain sucks!
It seems the good Mr. Appolinax has gotten busy again. :/
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. And, sorry...had a lot on my plate this weekend so couldn't update
Leeoli is out of weapons that can hurt it.
Lol, cure potions...honestly hadn't thought of that. I don't see why it wouldn't work, though
I thought that positive energy against there negative energy :)

not cheap damage...
Yeah, definitely not. I'll take a look at precedents for it and see if there are any special rules or modifiers; if anyone knows of any, please let me know.

you can use wands of CLW or CMW against undead, so I don't see why a potion wouldn't work
I think it depends on how picky one wants to be. CLW like spells work against undead, which is why I tried. However, some might argue that for a potion, the undead would have to drink it to be hurt by it. This interpretation might be RAW, but it seems to me a little picky, especially since these potions are pretty expensive and using it for damaging undead does not seem practical unless you are desperate. I'd understand either way, GM Nayr.
I'm cool with it; I'll just give him a will save for half and incorporate any spell resistance. Good use of the potions, I'd say.
Ha, good call Dura! Correct, that is a miss, then....good preparation indeed

Sorry Rufus. Forgot Leeoli carried +1 arrows. He can toss Rush the holy water back as a move action maybe..
Nice preparation guys - so you know, I nearly doubled the Splatter Man's HP and upped his caster level to 9, and you still destroyed him fairly easily

Don't worry, I still found this and all the other fights very interesting and, more often than not, difficult! This is a great book. Thanks GM!
Now that he is defeated I read up on what other GMs think of this encounter..in brief GMs thought SplattrrMan is a diffict boss to balance challenge with fun, mainly because his maximized magic missiles can be devastating if they were used repeatedly against one character (TPK), but this is not all that fun fir the whole party. At least that was what some GMs thought.
Anyway I think you handled the encounter just fine. Also it gave me an appreciation for how challenging fighting in difficult-terrain can be against a free moving creature.
F Human Oracle-5 HP 32/32 | AC 20 (T15 F16) | F+2 R+6 W+4 | CMD17, Init+4, Perception+6 | Active Effects:bless
yeah, his movement and the limited damage we could do to him, along with the possibility of him really doing some damage (super glad I dodged that one attack of his), I thought he worked pretty well
I got to wonder though...is that end of this chapter in the scenario...or is there another evil lurking in Ravengro :)
