quick question: has Kendra been living at least part time in Lepidstadt with Lorrimor? I was thinking maybe that Dura and Kendra have been friends for years having met in Lepidstadt when she came to visit her father and hanging out when they could. This would be my first time to Ravengro though

Sorry - crashed before I could reply. Kendra has been living in Ravengro, but has also studied and worked (Diviner) in Lepistadt, so that's fine. Her talents don't bring in a ton of money in the farming town of Ravengro, so she'd often have to supplement her income.

Alright, slight change to backstory, just an additional little paragraph explaining relationship to Kendra and where he's been. Not gonna try and act on the relationship, just act a little more socially awkward around her when it's not super important.

I know it's a little late in the process, but one quick question; would you be opposed to allowing me the Free Runner martial tradition from the Spheres of Might playtest? Basically, trading a little bit of defense for a little bit more mobility, in the form of dropping shield and medium armor proficiency. Yes or no are both fine, I'll be fine either way.

I'll post in gameplay when I'm on break later today.

Thinking about it, it might be fun to give everyone the chance to swap out, honestly. For the most part it shouldn't affect proficiencies, depending on tradition chosen, and it should give everybody a nifty trick or two as an alternative to a full attack.

Your call, of course, but I think it could be pretty neat.

Strangely enough, I'm not in a rush. :)

I really like what they're doing with it, but it's a lot to take in. I will say, though, that for the most part, they're not really new tricks so much as new ways to do old tricks. There are very few new mechanics altogether in the document, but I'll let you take a look for yourself.

DM: I was looking under the campaign stuff and have a question. What's the harrow card stuff?


Sorry Dura, those are there, and were given to the current players, I just haven't figured if it's worth doing for you and Henrik.

Guys - you haven't used any of them; just making sure you know they're there.


To be clear - the cards are a 1-time use and replace hero points. If we start using them, I'll figure on stashing more cards as treasure and awards as we move on.


Well I certainly thought about using them in our last big fight, but I only remembered them after things were getting wrapped up. I don't mind having them as a replacement of hero points, or whatever...actually I barely know what hero points are. Are all our games with hero points? Could Jack have used one while getting sawed in half by that eel?

Sweet! Like I mentioned, I'd recommend allowing people to swap out proficiencies, within the limits of Martial Traditions, as well. In most, if not all, cases here, the character will end up with a very similar set of proficiencies, plus a neat trick or two.

Edit: I've made my skill modifications, easily enough, and should hopefully be able to write down my talents and such sometime tomorrow.

It's been a long time since I played a magus; does spell combat remove the Defensive Casting concentration check? I don't remember...


I honestly had trouble finding an well-worded answer on that. It seems to imply that he'd need a Con check every time, but then goes on to imply elsewhere that he'd only need it if casing defensively. I should be taking AOO's when he uses it without the Con check, but am honestly fairly lax in that.

In my opinion - no Con check needed for spell combat, but there will be an AOO as would be typical for casting a spell. If casting defensively to avoid the AOO, roll a Con check. If it fails, the spell fizzles.

Let me know if you see it differently, and we can adjust.

Sorry if I haven't been making checks I need to. So does this mean I either cast defensively (and make a con check) or suffer an AOO?


As far as I understand, it's just normal casting, in a different action. So, there isn't normally an extra AoO, but there is the threat of retaliation without a concentration check. That's one of the reasons reach is so good for a magus, just hard to come by.
